viva I'm 15+6 too!

PickleBot · 24/02/2016 14:31

I am bloody livid, I am supposed to have my first consultant's appointment at the hospital today at 1:30. I got home from my jazzercise class, went to get my lunch ready to take with me, headed up to have a shower (12:15) to find my postman had been. A letter from the hospital letting me know that my appointment had been canceled. No phone call, no missed calls on my mobile, nothing on my answerphone. AND to add insult to injury the replacement appointment is on the 18th of April at 2:30pm, nearly 7 weeks away by which time I will be 25 weeks! Apparently the consultant is away today, and the appointment was canceled 3 days ago, but they only got round to sending the letter out yesterday. I'm still waiting for the appointment centre to call me back because the supervisor is "out of the office" and the only other appointment they could offer me at a time when I won't be picking DS up from school will be 9 weeks away. I know Cambridge is in the middle of a baby boom but they were the ones who decided I needed to be under consultant care not me, I don't think it's unreasonable to was to discuss my options before I'm well over half way through my pregnancy.

VivaHate · 24/02/2016 15:43

Christinedonna ooo someone who shares my EDD Grin

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 24/02/2016 15:48

pickle that's not so good - doesn't sound as if they are too organised, although appreciate they are busy as you say. Hope they phone you back with something more suitable.

I've just had my 16 week appointment, she listened to the heartbeat and found it so easily! Baby did try to squirm away but she got it again- 142bpm 😊

She also showed my how high my uterus actually is now and I was surprised by where it's got to.

16+2

Jw35 · 24/02/2016 18:56

Here's my bumpie! 17+4 and getting heartburn but otherwise fine!

I have a crap Doppler. It's got the word summer on it. Still can't hear anything on it just sounds like the sea

lilygirl81 · 24/02/2016 19:10

I'm so jealous of your bumps, I still just look fat! Put on a dress today I thought would show it off, but just looked like belly. DH said I looked a little pregnant but think he was just being sweet.

My parents gave DH and I a voucher for a 3 course lunch at an amazing restaurant for Christmas, which had to be used by Monday. They squeezed us in today, food was amazing but I've been in bed since, not used to eating that much or that much activity. Generally feeling much better though.

MamaB80 · 24/02/2016 19:30

Loving all your bumps! I'm 15+4 and have a bump some days...depending on what I wear!
I've just booked our NCT classes for late June. Both DH and I have family miles away so I'm hoping to gain a support network nearby. Fingers crossed.
Have any of you London based ladies had any hypnobirthing course recommendations?

strandedabroad · 24/02/2016 20:41

Thanks for the Doppler recommendations. Off I go on Amazon again! The old one has been returned.

I also booked NCT classes for June. Eek!

I can hide my bump most days, unless I've eaten like a pig or I'm wearing something tight.

Pickle that's bad form. I hope you get somewhere!!

16+1!

Mslg · 24/02/2016 20:57

Loving the bump pics! I just look like I've put on weight 😑 16 +4 now. Did a bit of spring cleaning today,
hoovering, changing beds, general tidying. Nothing different to what I usually do but I think I must have overdone it. My lower back is absolutely killing me now 😢

OwlinaTree · 24/02/2016 21:14

Well I'm totally fed up with this stinking cold. Croaky voice, sore throat, sneezing and coughing all over the place. Had to have syrup sponge and custard at lunch time as felt so miserable! I'd take a day off work but only just come back from a week and a half off. Sad

Lovely bump pics everyone. I just look like a blob, not helped by the syrup sponge I expect! I'll post one at the weekend if I feel a bit better. 15 weeks tomorrow!

Dileas29 · 24/02/2016 21:59

mslg feeling your pain lower back probs here too, hot bottle helps a wee bit and eases off after a day or two, however it always triggers by carrying DD and housework ouch! Does anyone know if you can get NHS massage etc for this?

OwlinaTree · 24/02/2016 22:22

pickle so annoying about the appointment. You could well have turned up at the hospital for it too if you'd been going from work or something. I can't remember if you said why you were consultant led, but 25 weeks will be fine to discuss birth options im sure, and you would still have time for extra scans if needed.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 24/02/2016 22:26

mslg back pain here too, thanks to viewings I'm doing lots more house cleaning than usual and it's destroying me, I'm soooo sore and stiff afterwards. Nice warm bath does the trick for me. Dileas unless it becomes really persistent/starts affecting daily life I doubt NHS will do much tbh - mw would prob laugh if we asked!
Anyone else had a boob growth spurt recently? Have been in my normal bras til now (just) but in the last week I'm spilling out the top with a lovely 4-tit effect Confused shopping trip very much needed methinks!

MamaB80 · 24/02/2016 22:46

I'm with you all in the lower back pain. I get it particularly when I've been standing for too long.
strandedabroad I bought the angelsounds doppler, this one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Angelsounds-Doppler-Monitor-Headphones-recording/dp/B001NWDUE2
It feels like and is cheap plastic but it works! I can definitely recommend it. It really helped my sanity as I had hardly any pregnancy symptoms and couldn't keep forking out for private scans! When I ran out of the gel I started using my bio oil which works great and you can then just rub it in to your tummy - kill two birds with one stone and all that!
I do like the digital screen on christinedonna's one though. What did you go for in the end?

strandedabroad · 24/02/2016 23:29

Thank you Mama. I went with the same as Christine, bit more expensive than I wanted it to be (£33 I think!) but hopefully worth it. Will report back when I've had a chance to try it Smile

Fizzyboo · 24/02/2016 23:42

16+4 today too, and I can't really see a bump either... It maybe feels a bit firmer? It's hard to tell really as it could just be fat Blush... I've also lost 8lb since my booking appointment, I've been on a super healthy eating mission, crap free zone! So maybe what's usually chub is now babes?! Haha Wink midwife appt on Friday, can the pee sample be from anytime of day before the appointment or does it need to be the first wee or anything?

MamaB80 · 25/02/2016 07:12

Hope midwife appointment goes well fizzyboo. I'm not sure it matters what time you do the pee sample (although I may stand corrected!) as I've simply been asked to do it when I've arrived for my appointment at the clinic regardless of time of day.

MamaB80 · 25/02/2016 07:15

And I meant to say a huge well done on the healthy eating. I have been the very opposite and have put on unnecessary weight. I'm normally a balanced eater but since about week 4 all I want is carbs - toast with lashing of butter and jam is a fave. But I'm feeling it now and think I need to take a leaf from your book.

MrsZumbaDancer · 25/02/2016 07:51

Fizzy my midwife said as close to the appointment as possible for the wee sample.
Starting to feel movement I think at 15+3, I'd forgotten what it felt like Smile

Fizzyboo · 25/02/2016 08:46

Thanks Mama & Zumba, I'll do it just before I leave for the appt... Always need a wee at the moment anyway! Wink
As for the healthy eating, well, i hold a stone or two more than I should anyway, and I kinda freaked myself out that I wasn't the healthiest oven for this little bun, so I just want to make sure I was doing the best I possibly could with the journey

ToElleWithIt · 25/02/2016 11:24

Lovely bump pics ladies. I still just look a bit pudgy, bump is starting to show in the evenings so another couple of weeks and I should be there. It's kind of annoying because I've a hen weekend next week and I'm stuck in no man's land, my usual clothes look a bit tight, but maternity looks ridiculous. skinny jeans and a loose top will be my uniform I guess.

picklebot that's so frustrating.

Had our 16m appointment this morning. Nice to see baby again, so much bigger and we could see so much more detail. Feeling a bit of movement here too.

prettyflowers111 · 25/02/2016 12:09

I all... I've been absent since 12 week scan as we anxiously awaited our down syndrome screening, it's just come back at 1 in 68,504. You can imagine how unbelievably chuffed I am with that!

Off to make a cuppa and have a read through and catch up.

August 2016 (3) - scans fast approaching, teeny tiny bumps appearing, and sickness easing....we hope!
Christinedonna · 25/02/2016 12:19

I text my midwife asking if she had received by Down syndrome results and heard nothing back. My scan was at 12+3 and I'm now 16 weeks and have heard nothing from anyone. Why is everyone receiving letters and I've been forgotten about..again?

Sophia1984 · 25/02/2016 13:50

I'd ring the hospital directly Christinedonna If it was high-risk, you would definitely have heard by now.

Sophia1984 · 25/02/2016 13:53

I'm suffering too Owlina :-( Been working in a primary school all week and the germs got me. Horrible scratchy throat, dry cough, blocked nose, headache... have stayed off sick today but can tell the teacher I was working with is pissed off with me. Apparently Halls Soothers are ok as they are just sugar. I've been having lots of honey and lemon too but am missing Lemsip so much..
