Yeah mine was the same. It's not their body so they don't spend as much time as us knowing all the ins and outs of what's happening in there so don't completely get it. In saying that, it's nice to have one person maintaining a calming influence on the situation! Mine reassured me constantly that all would be ok and it definitely helped the anxiety.

Jw35 · 04/02/2016 14:06

clara that's partly why is refused downs testing, I'm 36 too and really don't want to spend my pregnancy thinking of the percentage of chance! Apparently they can tell at the 20 week scan? So the sonographer told me at my 12 week scan! Either way abortion would never be an option so rather not know and worry.

On the other hand im amazed how few of you want the know the sex! The wait is killing me! Obviously I don't care what it is but I do want to know!

14+5 today and feeling great. Starting to put on weight and my boobs are massive!

TwistInMySobriety · 04/02/2016 14:22

Clara age definitely does factor in but I wouldn't be unduly worried at 36 and 1/1500. FWIW I'm 41 and my Downs markers came back at 1/150. I was 38 for DS1 and they were 1/4800. I had the Harmony test yesterday, just waiting for results.

Christinedonna · 04/02/2016 14:23

So jealous of you feeling great jw I'm 13 weeks today, still throwing up and I'm shattered! The OH is currently sat on the other sofa ready to leave moaning that I'm still in my pjs and asking for a nap. We're going out for me as I need new clothes (so it begins) but I'm just tooooo tired. He wants to go and see his family afterwards aswell. I don't know how I'm going to manage

Mslg · 04/02/2016 15:04

I'm 13 +5 and feeling tired but otherwise ok!

I have a hair apt tomorrow, should I tell them I'm pregnant/ask if the dye is OK to use in pregnancy? Conflicting advice all over the Internet, just wondering if anyone here has any advice?

Christinedonna · 04/02/2016 15:14

mslg it can't hurt to ask

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 04/02/2016 16:46

Hi guys,

I've been missing for a wee while there, had a scare last week with a bit of spotting and my husband is away so feeling a bit sorry for myself. I've also a managed to pull some sort of muscle in my side which is hurting and making me generally grumpy!

I've come to ask actually if anybody (particularly the Aberdeen cohort) knows where I send my FW8 form too? It's to entitle me to free dental treatment, the form seems a bit unclear?

Christinedonna · 04/02/2016 16:58

alfie mine said it in the masses of writing on the form. You won't find it unless you really read it as it's quite unclear

CheeseandGherkins · 04/02/2016 17:31

Hi can I join? I've already had an early scan (and saw a lovely heartbeat!) which puts me at 10 weeks tomorrow. I had my booking in a couple of weeks ago and my dating scan is 2 weeks tomorrow.

This will be dc 7, although we only have 5 living, we lost a little girl at 37 weeks back in Dec 2010 when she was stillborn due to undiagnosed gestational diabetes.

I developed gestational diabetes at 9 weeks in my last pregnancy, 12 weeks the one before, and was on insulin from then onwards. I'm currently having to test my blood sugars every morning and an hour after every meal to make sure that I haven't got it again yet, although they think it's likely I will get it again at some point.

I'm high risk and will be seeing consultants, my dating scan is being done in the day assessment unit where I'll see the consultants straight afterwards. As I had dvts in my last pregnancy, but didn't have them found until about 2 weeks after the birth, I'll probably also be on fragmin injections at some point too. I'm not looking forward to those as they hurt!

To add to that, my last baby was born by c section so I think that will be the same again, if all goes well. She was born at 37 weeks, due to medical need.

I am due last day of August or early Sept at the moment, but I'll be having the baby by 37ish weeks. My baby before my last one was induced at 33+ weeks due to the GD so time will tell what happens this time.

I have quite a colourful obstetric history previous to those too but that would take even longer to write! Now that's all out of the way I hope to get to know you all over the coming months :)

Oh, one more thing, I managed to find the baby's heartbeat on my doppler today too which is what spurred me on to finally join in on this thread. It was a great sound to hear as I was starting to worry due to my lack of any sickness and some pains I've had recently.

I wanted to join here rather than Sept as it'll be more likely that people will be having their baby's at a similar stage.

hgleslie89 · 04/02/2016 17:33

Got our Downs results back today - 1:20,000 (I'm 26). Pretty happy with that.
So incredibly gassy this afternoon! I was doing some training at work so couldn't really keeping popping off for a quick "comfort break" Blush

hgleslie89 · 04/02/2016 17:35

Hi Cheese!

bearhuggy · 04/02/2016 17:50

Welcome cheese and wow, what a journey you have been on! Amazing you heard the heartbeat on the doppler, I am finding mine to be very reassuring but am limiting it to once a week max!

hg great result and oh dear on the gas!! Confused

alfie sorry to hear about the spotting and pains, try not to worry and always come on here for a chat if you need support whilst hubby is away! Hope you are feeling a bit better today.

My new food obsession....Twiglets !! never normally a crisp person but these are hitting the mark today.

Jw35 · 04/02/2016 19:06

Welcome Cheese!
Hope you're ok Alfie x

Christinedonna · 04/02/2016 20:48

Is anyone doing anything to prevent stretch marks? I thought maybe if you start early by moisturising everyday it may help prevent them?

Fizzyboo · 04/02/2016 21:01

Yes I am christinedonna, slathering on the bio oil!

quitecrunchy · 04/02/2016 21:55

Hi cheese, nice you have you with us! Best of luck of luck with your blood sugars this time round, hope they stay nice and low!

Alfie where did you get that form you mentioned? Did the midwife give you it? I haven't had anything and was wondering about the dentist stuff. There's work I've putting off for a while to wait until pregnancy!

Hope you enjoyed you tea glencoco and cola! Sorry to have given you the craving, someone did that to me the other day with sausages and I was like a woman possessed until I got my hands on them!

M2B816 · 04/02/2016 22:13

I've made an appointment with the dentist today. They said its fine to bring in my maternity notes if I haven't got the card.

OwlinaTree · 04/02/2016 22:28

Hi it's scan day eve here, same for you silver and zumba. What time are yours? Mine is first thing, glad not to be waiting around. Am quite nervous but can't help being excited too. Really want to tell people now as well, I'm 12+3 tomorrow according to dates so I reckon OK to start telling people if the scan looks good?

Welcome cheese, sounds like you've had a rough ride. I have a bit too, but have a 23 month old boy now and all being well a sibling on the way. Hope it all goes well for you, glad you are being closely monitored too. I'll be consultant led due to history, it's nerve wracking eh? I'll be having a section too, but probably not till about 39 weeks if it's the same as my son.

I'm quite in envy of the Doppler action on here, must be lovely to hear the heart beat. I know i'd worry if I couldn't find it if I had one though, it would do me more harm than good I think!

I've not really had any cravings yet really, I craved apricots and bananas previously. I've wanted to eat a lot but nothing specific yet.

squigglepants · 04/02/2016 22:40

In awe of the results you have all had on the Downs screening. DD (I was age 27 at time of test) was 1:69 and DS (I was age 29) was 1:75. I opted to have an amniocentisis both times. This time round (next Thursday) I will be 36 and terrified what the outcome may be.

Jw35 · 05/02/2016 00:41

Update on my sister. They're not doing the therapy now to suppress her immune system. The treatment takes 3 months and they don't think she has that long...Shock they're going straight for the bone marrow transplant!

They're looking for a donor and my brothers are being tested now. Apparently I'm not even allowed the test! They won't test me as they won't use me. Upset and relieved at the same time! Horrible mess of emotions.

She has the most severe form of aplastic anaemia-basically she's not making any new blood at all and she's at risk of internal bleeding, so constant brain scans etc.

If she does bleed internally they won't be able to stop it..Sad they want to do a transplant within 3 weeks! She's bleeding in the mouth, she has mouth ulcers, bleeding gums and she bruises easily. She can only get up for a wee now, nothing else she's too weak! Sad

She will have chemo and the transplant, if it works she could make a full recovery, if it doesn't..the future is bleak.

I'm worried sick. She's much more positive. She just bought me a load of maternity clothes, a coat and god knows what else! That's what she's like, she doesn't think about herself!

Sorry needed to talk Sad I love her. Here's a pic of us as kids

lilygirl81 · 05/02/2016 01:05

Jw there is nothing I can say, it's all so sudden and awful for you. Your sister sounds like an amazing person, and also like she has a huge amount of fight in her. I have everything crossed that a match gets found quickly and they can move with the treatment. I can understand what you mean about not being tested, seems sensible that they only test those folk they can use, no point adding to the feelings you must be having.

MrsSantaClause · 05/02/2016 06:31

Gosh jw such a tough time for your family. Your sister does sound very strong though, hope one of your brothers can donate, and it happens quickly. Thanks

MamaB80 · 05/02/2016 06:43

Oh "jw", I am hoping and willing for your brothers to be a match. Will it take long to find out? It's awful how quickly things can change. We were all so excited for you when your lovely sister had offered you the house just a matter of weeks ago. Hoping beyond hope that things take a swift turn for the better very soon for you. In the meantime please come on here and get all your thoughts down whenever you need to. We might not have the answers but you have our support xxx

MamaB80 · 05/02/2016 06:44

Argh, I meant jw not "jw"!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 05/02/2016 07:29

quitecrunchy
Yeah the midwife gave it to me at the booking in appointment. Maybe ask at your next appointment?

So is it the practitioner service address then maybe?

jw I'm so sorry to hear your sister is not keeping well. I really hope your brothers are a match or they find somebody on the register for her. Keep coming on here to chat about it, talking always helps.
