We're not finding out. I want to have a surprise and it means I get to spend more time choosing names!

MrsSantaClause · 03/02/2016 20:55

Were not finding out, I like keeping something just for us at the end to enjoy before we tell everyone Grin

M2B816 · 03/02/2016 21:30

Not finding out here too. We'll be moving after a few months baby is born so nursery is not required too. Happy days!

Biscuitswithtea · 03/02/2016 21:31

We're not finding out either. Didn't last time and that was fine. DS remained nameless for c36hrs but was named before we escaped from hospital.
It was quite nice not knowing, even though I usually like to know things!

I:50,000 is amazing! I can't remember what we were last time but it wasn't that low. We've had it done again this time - not so much for Downs, but the other two. The hospital said results can take up to 2 wks but they phone quickly if there's an issue. Am not expecting one, the sonographer was v thorough, checked brain development etc too and she was delighted with our baby :)

quitecrunchy · 03/02/2016 21:50

Congratulations on the lovely scan pics!

Yesterday I accidentally ate eggs benedict. Totally forgot it was on the no go list, am I a terrible mother? Hmm I'm consoling myself with the thought that it was probably made with lion marked eggs. I read that a study looked at 28 000 of them and zero had salmonella in so I figure the odds aren't too bad. Anyone else slipped up on the do not eat list? Or is it just me?

It was delicious by the way. I don't plan on doing it again though. Oh god, the pervasive motherhood guilt is starting already. Will it be like this for the next 25 years?!

Fizzyboo · 03/02/2016 22:09

Don't panic crunchy! Literally 2 days ago I read they now say it's ok for preggo's to eat runny eggs, prob still up on the news sites Grin

Dileas29 · 03/02/2016 22:14

quitecrunchy no I don't think anything to worry about

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/runny-eggs-safe-for-pregnant-women-to-eat-says-report-a6844826.html

jw thinking and praying for you and sister

Sorry not been able to post much. Had major blocked/ringing ear for a week was freaking it was tinnitus for life I'm not dramatic promise was v dizzy with it but seems a HUGE amount better today. Went to pharmacy and they told me my Blood pressure was really low. Triage midwife said no ear conditions are connected with pregnancy (not what I've read) and that low BP is no concern. Anyone had similar situation?

Mslg · 03/02/2016 22:17

Eggs are fine, don't beat yourself up Hmm

OwlinaTree · 03/02/2016 22:32

I'm not planning to find out the sex either. I've got a boy so would be lovely to have a girl but won't mind as long as it's healthy and gets here in one piece.

quitecrunchy · 04/02/2016 07:28

There might have been a touch of hyperbole to my egg post Grin I was more feeling guilty that I didn't even consider it until afterwards, but in the absence of salmonella symptoms not so worried about the eggs themselves, though I suppose I can't be sure the were lion marked as it was at a restaurant.

ToElleWithIt · 04/02/2016 08:31

We're not finding out either.. at least that's the plan! It took a lot of willpower to tell the lady who gave me my Harmony results not to tell me! The Harmony results were all clear which was a huge relief. We found out last time that we were having a boy so it will be weird not knowing this time, but I fancy a surprise.

We'll be telling family later squee

FourForYouGlenCoco · 04/02/2016 09:23

Congrats to everyone with good scans & results! So lovely to see all the scan pics Smile and Sophia that's an incredibly low risk result, you must be so chuffed! Mine was 1:23000 and I was happy with that.
Not finding out sex here either, I genuinely don't care what we get this time round and like the idea of a surprise. I think it's a girl but will have to wait and see. Feel a bit sorry for it if it's a boy - he'll be wearing as much of DD's old stuff as poss so won't be the most boyish-looking boy i don't think Grin
crunchy thanks to your post last night I'm now absolutely obsessed with eggs Benedict. I desperately want some, went to sleep thinking about it last night and was the first thing on my mind this morning! Haven't got the right ingredients but I'm definitely having eggs benedict & smoked salmon for tea, can't bloody wait.
15 weeks tomorrow and feeling really good now, nausea still lingering a tiny bit in the evenings but barely noticeable. Feeling little movements here and there, they could still just be digestion but I'm fairly sure they're baby! Can't wait for DH and DD to be able to feel from the outside. Time is flying now, we'll all be halfway before we know it!

M2B816 · 04/02/2016 09:49

I don't think we're allowed smoked salmon at all if I'm not mistaken?

Mslg · 04/02/2016 10:00

There's conflicting advice on smoked salmon but NHS website says it's ok.

ToElleWithIt · 04/02/2016 10:03

Smoked salmon is fine, full of Omega 3...and absolutely bloody delicious.

Colabottle10 · 04/02/2016 10:31

Eggs and Smoked salmon, my absolute favourite. That's what I'm having for tea!

My symptoms have taken a weird turn. After all day sickness and vomiting, I'm now vomiting in the evenings, gagging EVERY time I head into the kitchen, any thought really seems to trigger the gag reflex. It's so depressing. 11+2, scan a week today, everything seems such a long way away.

I'll be honest though, I did a Tesco shop yesterday and nappies and wipes were all on special offer, so I bought some. I've also bought cotton white vests and sleep suits (from Tesco) in their sale.....I've probably jinxed it all now.

Caught DH choosing paint for the nursery yesterday - that was really cute!

Excellent scan pics - does the sonographer explain what it all is when they are doing the scanning? I can never work out what I'm looking at.

God I hope this sickness buggers off. I'm trying to do the VAT return and stopping every 20mins to either mom or eat is getting really boring.

Clarab0w · 04/02/2016 10:32

fourforyouglencoco and sophia1984 was this for the NHS downs test? we got a result of 1:1500 which was considered 'screen negative' - which i was really pleased with until i saw that you guys are in the 10s of 1000s!

Clarab0w · 04/02/2016 10:32

i am a 36 year old crone though, so i think they factor age in? Hmm

Sophia1984 · 04/02/2016 11:20

Hi Clare, Yes it was, but they do factor age in. I'm 31, so no spring chicken, but 5 years will definitely make a difference. 1:1500 is still brilliant - sorry if I made you worry. I had just been so anxious about it myself (and am still worried about anything else they could pick up at 20 week scan as I have health anxiety/OCD). Honestly, that is a brilliant result.

bearhuggy · 04/02/2016 11:25

Hi everyone, was off work yesterday unwell so just catching up.

Lovely to see your scan pic santa ! Cola our sonographer talked us through everything and was really great. I had lots of questions and she took the time to go through each with us and showed us lots of detail. Was fascinating when they zoomed in on the heart and measured the valves and blood flow and also the same into the brain, so amazing what they can do these days!!

sophia really great results, mine also was for down's only with no mention of the other things. Our results were 1:31,750 so was pleased with that but still wondering whether to go ahead with the Harmony testing...or maybe a waste of money since everything has been fine to date?! Anyone else in two minds about this?? Clara the testing does factor in age I believe.

We are not finding out the sex, much to the annoyance of some family members who want to start buying things! My grandmother even said 'just tell me darling and I promise not to tell anyone, not even your Dad', as though I already knew and was just keeping it from her!!

Christinedonna · 04/02/2016 11:41

My OHs family don't want us to find out. They never have apparently and it takes away from the surprise. So with that in mind we'll find out and not tell them, that'll bite them in the arse

Fizzyboo · 04/02/2016 13:02

I think my husband will want to find out, he's ridiculously excited, I don't mind either way, so we probably will... It's funny, we've been together 18 years, pretty sure we weren't going to have kids till now, and I've seen a whole new side to him!

I just can't wait to have my scan to know s/he is actually still there, come on Tuesday!!!!!! Then I might be able to give up the reassurance preg tests Blush

Mslg · 04/02/2016 13:22

I'm surprised by how excited my OH has become. I think he was reining himself in a little until we had the scan as I had a MC at 8 weeks a while ago and I don't think he wanted to let himself get excited just in case. Now he's looking for slings in Mothercare and even said he's looking forward to changing nappies! 😂

Mslg · 04/02/2016 13:24

Fizzy you'll be fine. We all feel like that before the scan but everything will be grand and you can breathe a sigh of relief when it's over! Smile

Fizzyboo · 04/02/2016 13:34

Thanks mslg, the wait is killing me! DH thinks I'm being dramatic and that everything is fine, but I'm so anxious!
