mslg I think as much as I'm sure she'd be over the moon for you, it would be wise to tell her over message so she can deal with it how she needs. Then she won't feel any pressure to act excited if her initial reaction isn't quite that. It may make her uncomfortable that you feel uneasy telling her and it could come across wrong on her side. Tell her over message, let her deal with it and maybe arrange you both meeting up for lunch in a few days. I think it's very important not to at any point mention her situation though. No reference to it like "I wasn't sure how to tell you because of..." Tell her YOUR news and be a friend if she decides she would like to talk about it

MrsSantaClause · 29/01/2016 12:09

I'm the youngest of 6 girls Mrs, I'm sure mine were trying for a boy when I was conceived Wink

Mslg · 29/01/2016 12:20

Thanks Christine for the advice, I will send a message first. I remember how sad I was after just a miscarriage and it feels like a very lonely time.

Jw35 · 29/01/2016 12:34

mslg I agree send a message first with no mention of her situation. Make it part of a message and not the whole thing. Try and understand if she makes excuses not to meet up for a while. Me and my best friend were ttc at the same time, I got pregnant straightaway and she's been struggling for ages. She admitted she was sad and jealous Sad

Christinedonna · 29/01/2016 12:43

You never know, she could turn out to be the most excited and supportive person you have your whole pregnancy!

Christinedonna · 29/01/2016 12:55

Pre scan nerves normal? My scan is on Sunday and I just feel like I'm going to be told there's nothing there or it hasnt grown. I saw the heartbeat at 7 weeks (3 weeks ago) so that's a small comfort as I read the chance of it being okay dramatically improves when you see that..and I still have all my symptoms, especially the sickness. On one had I think "it's obvious I'm pregnant" but on the other it just feels too good to be true

Jw35 · 29/01/2016 13:47

I did Christine I was so stupidly nervous! I literally cried when everything was ok! I had no reassurance scan either so I had no idea if there was a real live baby in there! The sonographers are cool as a cucumber! 'There's the baby..there's its head' etc. your whole world has changed and they're so blasé! Grin it's a piece of piss don't worry about it! There's a 99.9% chance there's a baby in there with 2 arms, 2 legs and a big fat belly! Keep cool chicken! Smile

lilygirl81 · 29/01/2016 14:42

mslg definitely tell in a message. My sister told me she was pregnant about 4 days after my last mc, and I just burst into tears. It would have been good to have got that out the way in private so I could then show how happy I actually was

bearhuggy · 29/01/2016 15:47

Hi girls,

Happy Friday to you all CakeFlowersStar

So glad this week is almost over, been a tough one with work and haven't been sleeping at all well so am feeling very tired. Off to the countryside this weekend for some fresh air and a digital detox! Much needed I think.

mslg I agree with the others and to send a message first so she is able to digest it at her own pace.

Lily how are you feeling? Did you manage to speak to anyone about finances?

christine totally normal!! I was so nervous before mine, my husband thought I was going mad (guys just don't understand do they!) and kept saying 'but you are pregnant, you know you are, stop worrying'. I bought a doppler to put my mind at ease and it really helped hearing the heart beating away.

14 weeks today...where is the time going Confused 2nd trimester Shock

Christinedonna · 29/01/2016 16:08

I've read different everywhere. When is the beginning of the second trimester?

bearhuggy · 29/01/2016 16:30

Christine there seem to be conflicting ideas, but I read its after your 13th week ....

Your First Trimester:
1st Month = Weeks 1,2,3,4

2nd Month = Weeks 5,6,7,8

3rd Month = Weeks 9,10,11,12,13

Your Second Trimester:
4th Month = Wks 14,15,16,17
5th Month = Wks 18,19,20,21
6th Month = Wks 22,23,24,25,26

Your Third Trimester:
7th Month = Wks 27,28,29,30
8th Month = Wks 31,32,33,34,35
9th Month = Wks 36,37,38,39,40

OR if you are being really precise 40 divided by 3 is 13.33333 !!

strandedabroad · 29/01/2016 18:32

Sorry for the long silence! I've been so busy and also was a bit anxious about the Harmonh results! They came back today, all low risk - what a relief. They took 8 days to come back if anyone is interested. Now will I relax or find something else to worry about, I wonder?

mslg I agree with the others re: your friend. I had a miscarriage last year and found other people's good news quite hard for a while.

It's all steam ahead here - still no bump but feeling quite thick around the middle, especially in the evening. I did some maternity clothes online shopping today and booked flights, car etc. to go see my family next weekend. I can't wait to tell my mum that she's going to be a Granny. My sisters will cry, I well up just thinking about it. We want to show up as a surprise so I've had to confabulate for ages with my BILs - it feels a bit wrong but I know it's for a good cause Smile

Have my 12 week scan on Thursday, I'll be 13 weeks. I'm feeling quite well, sickness seems to be gone, I'm just a little tired but also full of beans, if that makes any sense. Exciting times ahead.

Christine I drove DH mad with my fears that the 10-week Harmony scan would show no baby, I had so few symptoms. It was all fine. Keep us posted!

Stranded 12+1

OwlinaTree · 29/01/2016 21:46

Hi guys, not much to report here. Put my work trousers on and couldn't do them up, so definitely a bump starting here. Plus I'm eating so much it must be flab too. Wouldn't dare weigh myself, I honestly don't know where I'm putting it!

Nice to see the bump pics, maybe I'll post one at the weekend I'll find something to wear that shows it off nicely! Might dig out the mat gear this weekend and see what I've got and what fits.

salene I admit I'm the same, I've got a little boy 23 months and would love a little girl this time. You are right though, healthy baby is the most important thing, and my son brings so much joy it really doesn't matter. I don't think I'm going to find out the sex, ones he or she is here I think I'll be alright with it.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 29/01/2016 23:05

Hi everyone, I'm 11+4 today and got my harmony test results back this morning - low risk for everything and baby is a boy!! It took me by surprise as we only had the test done on Monday so I was expecting the results next week Grin

This means I get to start buying baby clothes Grin we have all DD's stuff in the loft and will be able to reuse baby grows and vests etc but there are an awful lot of girls outfits up there too!

Sophia1984 · 29/01/2016 23:39

How exciting! Youremywifenowdave! Great news about the low risk too :-)

Christinedonna · 30/01/2016 02:39

Does anyone have any tips for back pain? I used to get a knot in my lower back and if I lay flat on a hard ground it clicked and was instant relief and fine again. Lately that technique isn't working and I'm waddling around in so much pain! I'm so jealous of anyone that can have someone walk on their back!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 30/01/2016 05:56

Congrats to everyone getting Harmony results back!
Salene hope you feel better today now you've had a bit of time to process everything. I honestly believe gender disappointment is one of those things that no one talks about, but if we did we'd find it was actually really common. I was so so sure DD was a boy (and really wanted a boy!), when we found out she was a she I wasn't disappointed as such, but it definitely took me a little while to get my head round it. Of course in the end I couldn't imagine her being any different and would never ever change her! You'll have an amazing time being mummy to your two little boys Smile
Early start here! Driving to the MIL's this morning, supposed to be leaving at 6 but not even dressed yet. One more coffee first! I completely gave up caffeine with DD but no chance with this poor little one, I need it too much! Will come out absolutely hyper no doubt Grin
14+1 today and sickness still lurking a little bit in the evenings, but generally I can't believe how much better I'm feeling just from a few weeks ago. So happy to be in the second trimester!

OP posts:
FourForYouGlenCoco · 30/01/2016 05:57

Oh Christine don't know about the back pain, sorry. Would prenatal yoga help to stretch everything out a bit maybe?? Sure someone will be along with a better idea later!

OP posts:
Salene · 30/01/2016 06:44

Yeah I feel better about it just means now I might be open to the idea of trying a 3rd time where as had it been a girl we would definitely stopped at 2 which would of suited me fine as I hate being pregnant

Currently struggling to walk as SPD so painful it feels like my pubic bone is being snapped and I'm on 13 weeks today

Dreading how I'm going to be later down the line with a toddler to look after and a husband who works abroad.

quitecrunchy · 30/01/2016 11:32

I've just got a letter from the hospital saying they've had to change my scan date - it's been put back a whole week which will make me 13+5. That's a whole 3 weeks and 3 days from now. Gutted! It already felt like miles away. I just want to know there's a heartbeat and tell my mum! I might cry.

Good news on all the harmony tests ladies xx

Christinedonna · 30/01/2016 11:41

As much as I'm so relieved my scan is tomorrow, for anyone struggling with how far away theirs is, just think. The longer you wait the better the picture you'll get! I'm a bit worried that at 11+5 it won't be as much of a real human being as I've imagined

Jw35 · 30/01/2016 12:35

I felt baby move today!!! Smile exactly 14 weeks and officially in the 2nd trimester! No sickness unless I eat the wrong thing or something makes me squeamish. Can drink tea again! Massive painful boobs and increased appetite are my symptoms at the mo. Still no bad bloating or feeling fat (I was still a stone heavier than normal from last pregnancy which could be why though) I get tired in evenings.

Names still whirring around my head constantly lol. Can't wait to find out the sex! Having a gender party for a laugh and getting a cake made with either pink or blue icing inside and won't know until we cut the cake! Thought it would be fun lol!

Christinedonna · 30/01/2016 13:24

Wow jw congratulations! Very jealous over here!

Just got all ready for work and started feeling really sick.. Then that "oh no, it's gunna happen" feeling..ran to the bathroom and it's like cherryade. I haven't eaten anything that colour so I can only assume it's blood

Sophia1984 · 30/01/2016 13:45

That does suck quitecrunchy but the plus side is you'll only have to wait 6 weeks till the 20 week scan once you've had your first :) Could you ring up and see if you can be put on a waiting list for cancellations or something?

So exciting Jw35! I'll be 14 weeks on Thursday and baby is an active little bean so fingers crossed I'll feel him/her soon.

Have you been retching a lot Christine? Could that have irritated your throat and made it bleed a bit?

quitecrunchy · 30/01/2016 17:36

Thanks Christine and Sophia, you're right there are upsides! Decided we couldn't wait (too anxious) so have booked a private scan for reassurance - next Saturday morning, eek! I remember someone else went for a private scan in Aberdeen a few weeks ago - was it you fly?
