My CSC membership is based on not getting enough of it, could easily have slept through until 9-10 ish and would have been very thankful for the extra time, I'm wrecked

magpiedreams · 22/01/2016 09:31

We're all too shattered to post so often now...zzzzz

I wonder how zach is doing? Not too long until others start joining him now I should think! People are going to start hitting 37 weeks before we know it.

I'm so tired at work and although being part time and taking some leave to work even less until the end of February they've not let me off anything so just as much work to do in less time. Lots of year end deadlines I have the same share of work as everyone else even though I'm on ML the whole of March which seems unfair. And I'm feeling the pressure to get it done ASAP just in case I have to go off sooner.

A friend made some Mars bar crispie cakes last week and ive not been able to stop thinking about them since, so today's plan with DD is to replicate them. Nice to be inside baking while it rains outside!

neh205 · 22/01/2016 09:44

Hello everyone

Have had a bit of a week! Landed up in hospital Wed eve. They monitored baby and his heart was nice and string. He's moving a bit more now but not as much as a few weeks ago.

Glad I went to get checked as turns out I have another uti following in from the one at Xmas. Midwives prescribed antibiotics they wanted me to have a full week course and then one top up tablet a day until I get to 37 weeks.

I wasn't happy with the idea of being on antibiotics for that long so I contacted my doctor who promptly hit the roof! Turns out the midwives had prescribed antibiotics which is not allowed in third trimester :p glad I checked. Now have a different strain of antibiotics and a kidney scan later on today. So have all my fingers crossed it'll be sorted asap.

Although have to say it's made me concerned re the hospital I'm going to. We changed from our nearest hospital as it hadn't got a very good reputation but this mistake has made me panic about going to stoke mandeville now. Utis can also cause premature labour so really need to get maternity bag sorted now!

Lots going on at the moment with everyone it seems.

So lovely to hear baby weights. My not so little one was 3.8 at 29 weeks and he's also measuring big.

frenchie bet you'll be glad to stop that commute! Can't wait to be rid of mine but mat leave doesn't start until 4th March.

magpie you've got me wanting a Mars bar now!!

dobbythedoggy · 22/01/2016 10:26

Another night of csc for me too! Who exactally should we all talk to about canceling these nightly meetings? It's such a time consuming comitment. Not a card I want to carry when it takes up all night every night.

Have 'woken' up with what seems to be the start of a streaming cold. Sympathies with you indom having to work when you're not feeling great. Waiting for dh to come home so I can retreat to bed or steam myself in the bathroom.

MyNameIsSuz · 22/01/2016 10:40

Ooh magpie, you've inspired me for tomorrow! Dh has added mars bars and cornflakes to his list for his way-home Tesco stop. Haven't done any cooking with the boy for ages and the weather's so miserable, it's the perfect activity!

That sounds really rough neh, how many weeks are you now? Are they worried about you going into labour early? Yes pack your hospital bag if so!

hayleycookie · 22/01/2016 10:59

Oh neh that sounds stressful! Definitely get that bag packed! Must do that myself actually. Have all the contents ready but no bag to use. Is everyone just using a weekend bag?

Sorry you're feeling rotten dobby Brew. DS has woken up with a stinking cold too. Hoping he doesn't share it on! Hope your dh doesn't take too long getting home so you can have a rest and steam.

Me624 · 22/01/2016 11:45

magpie you have inspired me too! I'm going to buy the ingredients on my way home and make some tomorrow!

neh sorry things have been so stressful with the hospital and your UTI. I'm amazed midwives prescribed the wrong antibiotics, you would expect them to be more clued up than your GP not the other way round?! At least it was spotted and no harm done.

hayley like you I've got all the stuff for my bag but haven't got round to actually packing it! I think I'm going to see if it all fits into a gym bag, if not I'll take a small suitcase (like a hand luggage sized one).

I had blood tests this morning to check on my iron levels, I really hope they've come up and I can come off these horrible tablets - they are playing absolute havoc with my insides Confused

Missikat · 22/01/2016 12:01

Hiya ladies hope you're all well. I have been struggling to keep up! So glad I'm not a member of the CSC, waiting til Zach comes home for that!

Thanks Magpie, Marmite and others we are doing well and Zach is doing fab! He's in low dependency now (can't remember if I told you all that?), and is now about 3lb 3oz - much smaller than some of the babes you still have inside! He has been breastfeeding mostly once a day so far, tube feeds the rest of the time, but did manage 19 mins on the boob the other day which is amazing. Hopefully he's going to be coming home in feb sometime, the nurse the other day said maybe next week but I don't think that'll happen. He's still in an incubator but will probably be moved out into a cot this weekend which is quite exciting!

Really looking forward to reading about the next arrivals on here, I can't believe no one else has joined me yet! And Zach is 8 weeks old today..crazy.

Rosieblossom123 · 22/01/2016 13:22

Missi glad that Zach is doing well, I bet you can't wait to take him home, not long now hopefully :) Flowers

My name is I went shopping in Newbury about 5 weeks ago as I also booked my 4d scan at babybond in Mothercare in the retail park, but I love shopping there too everything is there I love it :)

neh good job you checked the antibiotics, I'm actually shocked Shock

Thank god it's Friday can't wait to relax this weekend, not planning on doing anything at all Grin

3 more Friday's to go at work can't wait!

QforCucumber · 22/01/2016 13:45

rosie you sound as bad as me counting down the days - 15 working days left to be precise.

Not going to bring my leave forward because just realising its only 15 days is spurring me on, also the fact that my boss pulled me into his office today to offer me a payrise and more responsibility on my return in January, but with the same hours so Mon-Fri 8-4 with a 2pm finish on a Friday, perfect for childcare hours really, also said if I feel I need to I could drop a day but will see how that goes. Grin

missi so glad to hear Zach is doing fantastically, I really can't believe he is 8 weeks old already!

Fingers crossed for you me with the blood results, know iron tablets are the worst for the digestive flow.

Hayley I'm using a hand luggage sized wheeled suitcase because I figured it'll be easier to wheel it around than carrying one (plus its the only decent sized bag I have and didn't want to buy one)

Really want to try this mars bar crispy malarkey you're all making me crave, instead I'm going to treat myself to a subway for lunch.

neh205 · 22/01/2016 14:26

Yup I was shocked too! Going to drop in to antenatal after having ultra sound in a few hours to discuss what happened. I'm 31 weeks so wanting to keep little one inside a bit longer! Haven't even started antenatal classes yet either :p

missi so lovely to hear all is well with Zach. Can't believe he is 8 weeks now! Time is flying.

This weekend sounds like it's going to be the Mars Bar Club!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 22/01/2016 14:34

glad to hear from you missi, sounds like things are going well, really pleased for you Grin

neh that's awful - I would be making a complaint if I were you!

also did some baking this morning - got an NCT friend coming round for tea and cake this afternoon so me and DD made some golden syrup fairy cakes. Basically a normal sponge mix with some golden syrup substituted for sugar, and the recipe also suggested putting half mixture in, then topping up with some golden syrup and adding another half of cake mixture. I also whacked some pecans on the top because why not. Absolutely dying to eat one but should wait until my friend comes round or I will end up scoffing two in the day and I can see me and DP having one after dinner tonight too!

DD been a nightmare today - again woke up in the night (DP got up with her) then up at 5.30 so I got up with her and now feel knackered. She was fine all morning but at lunchtime started playing up. I swear she does it every Friday, it hits lunchtime and she starts being a complete nightmare. Took me over an hour to get her to nap and she was messing around loads. I ended up shouting at her Sad which I never do and absolutely hate and we both ended up crying. Bloody hard work with a toddler and being big and heavy and pregnant. Have no idea what I'm going to do when DD2 arrives - perhaps just give up on trying to get DD to nap as she fights it so often now it's not worth it!

I also should be marking work right now, but of course arsing around on the internet/MN instead.... sigh

3 weeks left at work for me too - I'm part relieved and part terrified at all the work I have left to do. Going to have to do some work this weekend to get some stuff done as I am really overwhelmed with it all at the moment Confused

hayleycookie · 22/01/2016 14:38

Sorry to completely change the subject here, but we've just realised DS's hamster has gotten out! We're pretty sure he must have got out overnight, and that means he would be in this room as it's closed off over night. There is a chance he is elsewhere if he got out this morning when DH came in to put his work shoes on and left the door ajar. He's usually asleep in mornings though.
We've searched under the furniture and behind the TV, sofas etc and can't see any sign of him.
The plan tonight is to turn the lights off, put his cage on the floor (open) with lots of his favorite food in it.
Does anyone have any idea/tips on how to track him down??

We also have a cat, who will be promptly evacuated this evening just in case.
Poor DS is so upset, he's cried several times, and keeps saying ''someone took my Chip'' (hamsters name). Have explained that Chip was just looking for us while we were sleeping, and fell asleep before he got back to his cage so is sleeping somewhere warm and safe until he wakes up tonight.

Help!!

dobbythedoggy · 22/01/2016 14:58

Right well I think I might need to become nocternal for the next 5 or so weeks. Lay down and was out like a light for over 3 hours! Sleep has certainly made me feel more human. Or might just kick dh out of bed as sleeping diagonally across the bed seems to be the magic key to getting comfortable.

hayley hope chip finds his way home very quickly. Took over two months to convince our team hamster back into his cage many years ago when he escaped for the final time. He was living in a partition wall and avoiding all traps set for him until the wall was pulled down; part of planned building work. The matiance team had to pull down the wall very carefully to reunite us all with our little monster. As he was a proven escape artist he ended up living in a fish tank after that!

missi lovely to hear that zack is still progressing well. Hope he'll be home with you soon!

About to venture out to the shops with dd, mars bars and rice crispies now featuring high up in the list!

Rosieblossom123 · 22/01/2016 15:22

Hayley I hope you find chip soon Flowers

Just found out that only today amazon are offering £10 off your order if you spend over £50, so I went a little bit mad but safe to say I bought everything that I needed Grin

www.amazon.co.uk/ref=ap_frn_logo

maybebabybee · 22/01/2016 16:36

hayley my hamsters were all escaping! One of them turned up 2 weeks after he went missing, covered in soot, rooting around in the fire place! Another turned up a few days later in a jug in the kitchen cupboard. We had 2 cats and a dog growing up as well so they were lucky to be alive. They're resourceful little things, he'll be ok. There's not much you can do to get them back really other than leave food out and hope for the best. Hope your DS is ok :(

missi so nice to hear more good news of Zach, I can't believe he's 8 weeks old!

My hospital bag is a cabin-case size suitcase, plus baby changing bag for the baby's things, plus rucksack for DP Blush

maybebabybee · 22/01/2016 16:36

always escaping, not all escaping...

vroc81 · 22/01/2016 16:39

Neh that is terrible, glad you are ok and I would certainly be asking a few questions!!

Missi glad to hear that Zach is doing well and that he'll hopefully be home in Feb!

Hayley hope that Chip turns up soon - could you use the cat to sniff him out just get hold of it before the cat gets hold of chip?

Looking forward to doing very little this weekend, need to do some jobs around the house but I would quite like to get it tidy as well as since sorting out the spare room/ nursery its looked like a bombs hit.... ut oh is that some sort of nesting sign??!

Q well done on the job offer - sounds good and nice of your boss to offer that up before you go as well.

hayleycookie · 22/01/2016 17:19

Chips been found!! Thank you everyone for your support during this tough time Wink He was asleep UNDER the sofa cushion that I was SITTING on!!!! Lucky little bugger! No idea how he even survived! He had a massive drink when he got back in his cage poor thing. DS was no less than ecstatic at finding him, and promptly gave him a special treat. Cage has been firmly squeezed closed, and a heavy book put on top of the hatch!

Hadn't thought of using a cabin bag, and happen to have 2 new ones laying around so will probably use that! Plus will probably take a page from maybe's book and use a separate bag for baby.

It's the weekend yay! Hopefully that means one week closer to mat leave for us all!

Missi I can't believe he's 8 weeks already! He sounds like he's doing amazingly well.

Vroc I'd say that nesting has kicked in for you! You'll be having a nice productive weekend

magpiedreams · 22/01/2016 17:19

Lovely to hear how well Zach is doing, what a trooper!

Oops, what have I started on the crispy cake front?!
So I'm a purist and would've preferred just mars bars and golden syrup and made it into a block then sliced it. DD however wanted them more chocolatey with some added plain chocolate and wanted small individual cakes. And who am I to argue with a wilful 3 year old?

So here are ours. How do you make yours...?

Happy crispy weekend everyone.

March 2016 Babies!! New Year, New Thread - #8
IndomitabIe · 22/01/2016 17:50

Oh, I can't tell you how much better I feel than this morning! I eventually made it to work with a feeling of deep regret. But after a peaceful hour of y13 test I became human again! Tired, but ok!

Ooh, doc, that doesn't sound like fun.

Mmm, magpie, mars bar krispie cakes sound amazing. (If I drop the idea around DH he might make them with DS!) I reckon choc chips and mini marshmallows would be good additions!

Ah, sympathies dobby. As usual, I felt OK after a while. Looking forward to vegging out this evening though. Sounds like you had an ace nap! Well done!

That does sound worrying, neh.

[home at last (was at swimming lessons). In PJs, sitting on the bed with a cup of tea. Bliss! DH is playing the instrumental versions of very inappropriate early 2000s hip hop! He's only just resisting singing along in front of DS!]

me - I've got a small suitcase + baby change bag. (I've warned DH that he has to fend for himself. He's a grown up. He knows what to expect!) Fingers crossed for your iron.

Glad Zach is still doing well Missi! I can't wait till these babies are here! (Though at reasonable gestations please!)

That's fantastic news Q! Well done you!

Hayley - glad to read that Chip is home safe! I had written a few tips from my extensive small-animal owning youth!

docmcstuffins1 · 22/01/2016 18:06

Magpie I'm off to asda now to buy ingredients for mars bar cakes!

Missi great to hear how well Zach is doing. He's a star!

Thanks everyone for asking after my fall, I'm fine (knees and hands a bit sore is all) and bump has been very wiggly today so don't think he's too shaken up by it either. I'll feel even better after mars bar cakes....

Me624 · 22/01/2016 18:13

Missi lovely to hear about Zach, that's great that he should be out of his incubator soon. He still sounds so tiny but I'm guessing it's normal that he wouldn't have grown as quickly as he would have if he was still inside!

magpie I'm with your DD in that I think they should be in cake cases like fairy cakes! I'm on my way home from work now with my ingredients, I was planning on a simple butter/mars bar/Krispie combination but I might add some golden syrup now you've mentioned it! Yum, DH did not complain at all when I told him what I was planning!

doc glad you're ok after your fall.

hayley thank goodness the hamster is back!

I'm so happy another week of work is over, 4 weeks left for me. 19 working days as I've got one day off as well!

IndomitabIe · 22/01/2016 19:20

Just seen this article: "Giving birth: everything you need to know before labour day"

"A home birth or a hospital? Birthing pool or bed? Drugs or no drugs?
Having a baby is a challenge enough without all the options in this great age of choice. So what’s best for you?"

Paperblank · 22/01/2016 19:35

I will pay one of you a LOT of money to bring me crispy Mars bar cakes.

A LOT of money. Please can you bring them now. Thanks Grin
