We were pretty set on the place with the pool but just realised it has no internet.. So now umming and aahing about it. Baby will be 4ish months when we fly.. I think it'll be ok. We flew with DD when she was 9 months old (family holiday to France) and 10 months old (wedding in Italy). The first time was the hardest, as didn't have a clue what we were doing and DD didn't sleep at that age or ever to be honest and we didn't have enough to entertain her with. Second time was much easier/smoother. We're going to have to take two car seats this time though, fun times! But you get to take buggy + car seat free as extra luggage on flights with young children so should be fine. gem I would say so long as you plan for baby being bored/hungry/crying and if its a short flight it'll be fine, but v much depends on how stressed you get. Me and DP tend to go on abroad holidays only every couple of years usually and I'm not sure we would have bothered this year (we didn't last year) but for this wedding. You could always book something last minute when baby is here and you know how you feel - that's what a couple of my NCT friends did.

Sorry to hear about your stressful weekend Rosie, but glad all fine in the end.

Vroc sorry to hear about your consultant lecturing you Confused sounds annoying/stressful.

Trinpy · 20/01/2016 14:24

Glad everything is ok with baby Rosie. It must be really scary to have to keep going in to get checked.

I'm Shock that the consultant said that vroc! Nice assumption from him that a higher bmi = no exercise and a frosties diet Hmm.

Me I'm a second time mum and the thought of travelling more than 30 mins by any means with a 4/5 month old terrifies me! We were meant to go to a friend's wedding abroad when ds was that age but had to back out at the last minute because we knew it would just be a nightmare. We did a 3 hour plane journey to see PiL when he was 11 months and I found that quite stressful because our flight was delayed, ds got overexcited and wouldn't nap, so spent half the journey crying. I also had to bf on the flight both ways which was tricky as not much space and he kept pulling off to look around, so not very discreet either! We've flown with him 3 more times since then and it never gets any easier tbh. I really, really want to go on a decent holiday somewhere hot this summer but its just the flight that's putting me off!

Trinpy · 20/01/2016 14:39

Sorry, I just realised how negative I sound in that last post! Tbf, I have quite a low tolerance level for being stuck in a confined space for hours at a time with a baby screaming at me; but other parents manage fine. Some friends took their baby abroad and he slept through the whole flight Envy so it definitely works out ok for other people! Probably depebds on the type of person you are/type of baby you have.

TriJo · 20/01/2016 14:58

A friend of mine went to India with her DD when she was 4 months old, London-Delhi-Kolkata, said it was much easier when she was young than when she had to travel again when her DD was 18 months! At least when they're very small they're mostly just feeding and sleeping and not wanting to run around...

Rosieblossom123 · 20/01/2016 15:15

vroc 5lb 6oz Shock you've definitely got a whopper there haha bless you. Yeah I do seriously think she has some quiet times, she's absolutely healthy and everything is normal so I don't get it maybe it's just her trying to scare her mummy off haha

Me thanks hun :) the nurse said I did the right thing by ringing them and it's better to be safe than sorry I guess. Yeah sounds about right I hope she's not over 7lb 7oz haha I want her clothes to last a while Blush lol To be honest it's good to get a rough idea of how much she'll weigh but if you think about it we haven't got that long until we're all posting pictures of our little rascals :)

Thanks marmite Flowers

Trinpy it is really stressful especially that I always think the worse when I don't feel any movement but I can't help but worry, It's really hard not to!

I don't know if it's just me who feels this way but I just want my baby here now so I could keep an eye on her and not always wonder if everything is okay or not! not long left I guess. 3 more weeks left at work, I cannot wait Grin

neh205 · 20/01/2016 16:45

Lovely to hear baby weights.

rosie sorry it's been stressful. I've bee having the same by the sounds of it. Baby very quiet since Sunday but still moving a little. I think it's because he's shifted position & I can't feel as much. Finally got a doctor's appointment which I'm just in the way too so hoping they will reassure.

I'd love to be thinking of hols but we've actually cancelled our honeymoon as if was going to be too much with a house move & a wedding this year. Although going loopy re house stuff at the mo. Vendors are being unnecessarily slow. We'and estimated moving the week before Xmas and now I'm worried we won't even be in by end of Jan :p

I'd recommend audio books too - great way to revisit childhood classics as well as autobiographies and so on.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 20/01/2016 17:10

sorry to hear about your house struggles neh. we moved house when I was pregnant with DD and it was a nightmare. No chain either end (we had already sold our house and were living in rented, and the couple we bought off were splitting up and both going into rented), so were told it would be very quick. I was only about 2 months pregnant when we had offer accepted so thought we had loooads of time - instead the (soon to be ex)-h dragged his feet and didn't want to move really, so everything took a long time as he didn't sign things, didn't answer his phone, tried to buy his wife out halfway through the sale blah blah and we didn't get in until I was 6 and a half months pregnant. and that was only after I rang them in tears saying I'm really pregnant and we need to complete in the next three weeks or we're pulling out! was an absolute nightmare. the guy was a complete douche as well - took some light fittings (and left wires hanging from the ceiling which is illegal!) but not all, random door handles (some but not others), a toiler roll holder attached to the wall (why?!), just lots of random things that there was no need to take, which I think he did out of spite. it was a complete nightmare when we finally got in. not saying this to scare you by the way just sympathising! it all worked out for us in the end, I think you just need to put your foot down!

Rosieblossom123 · 20/01/2016 17:12

neh good luck hun keep us updated Flowers She's been moving loads now now but it's always a one off when there's lack of movement so weird but it seems like that might just be her routine I guess!

The vendors need hurry up, do they know you're due soon? I know exactly how you feel, I remember how frustrated I used to be especially when my solicitor used to tell me they couldn't get hold of the vendor's sols for days!!Angry

Expectantrobot · 20/01/2016 18:21

Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind me sticking my head above the parapet at this late stage... have been lurking and reading for a while but not got round to posting yet.

I'm due 31st March, so will be 30 weeks tomorrow, which feels like a big number of weeks!

Have just this week started to feel really huge and worrying a bit that my bump is enormous. Another girl at work is due about 10 days before me and has a much smaller bump, and at my pregnancy pilates class at the weekend the teacher checked how many weeks I was as she was adjusting the exercises for people in their final few weeks and seemed surprised when I said how many weeks I was.

Also seem to be uncomfortable nearly all the time, with lower back pain if I sit down or stand up for too long and then feet pain if I walk anywhere. Another 2.5 months of this doesn't seem like much fun.

Huge sympathies to all the others struggling with sleep - I am definitely a card carrying member of the CSC. Generally I wake anyway between 1am and 4am and then will be awake for pretty much 2 hours before I drop off back to sleep. Has been going on for so long now that I've kind of made my peace with it and just get up, have a snack, read my book etc and then go back to get after an hour or so. Have also been trying "4-7-8 breathing" to help me get back to sleep - has anyone else tried it? Basically, you inhale for 4 counts, hold your breath for 7 counts and then exhale for 8 counts, and repeat for four cycles. Seems to really help me to relax into being back in bed.

Missdee2014 · 20/01/2016 18:41

Sorry for the random drop in when I've not been on this new thread much at all. I'll read later and catch up I promise.

I had my 32 week (currently 32+4) growth scan today. Getting monitored due to high blood pressure - on medication which is keeping it settled but monitored as a result. I had a scan at 28 weeks and baby was bang on the 50th centile on my growth Chart (chart specific to me based on my weight, height and previous babies weights/term). However, today he has dropped to the 10th centile and I've now to go back for another in a fortnight.

My question is, does anyone know what weight their baby is roughly just now? Mine is measuring about 3lb 8oz which I genuinely think is ok for my term.

vroc81 · 20/01/2016 19:19

missdee Rosie and I have had this off the back of scans at 33 +4 this week I'm in at 5lb 6oz and at the other end of the spectrum with everything measuring in at 90th percentile and Rosie a more average 4lb 7oz..

Rosieblossom123 · 20/01/2016 19:19

Missdee sounds about right I'm
33 +3 and baby is 4lb 7oz at 27+4 she was measuring 2lb 2oz they're not accurate though only estimates.

Hi Expectant Smile

Missdee2014 · 20/01/2016 19:50

Thanks Vroc and Rosie. To be honest, I'm not overly worried about it. I had a growth scan with my eldest (now 11) at 36 weeks and they were worried about her weight - she was 6lb at birth which wasn't bad given I'm only 5'1" and was born weighing 5lb 2!

Rosieblossom123 · 20/01/2016 19:56

The good thing is that you're being monitored so you know you're in safe hands I'm sure Flowers

IndomitabIe · 20/01/2016 23:30

Look how restrained I've been: doing work before mumsnetting!

marmite, jealous as I am of your trip, I do also think you're being quite brave!

Love that buzzfeed link, Tri! So true!

Hello Expectantrobot!

No Beautiful today? Who else is MIA? Hope everyone's ok.

Night all zzzz

Hi Expectant

I had a growth scan at 31 weeks and my baby was 4lbs! I was very shocked!!! At my measurement the other day at 33weeks plus 5 she was estimated at 5lbs. Following the growth midwife said estimated birth weight would be just under 8lbs... Smile

docmcstuffins1 · 21/01/2016 09:25

My bump is measuring big, but I haven't been referred for a scan as it's following the line on the chart (just above the 90th centile). Do you think I should be pushing for a scan? Not sure if I want to know the weight or not.... Might scare me Shock

hayleycookie · 21/01/2016 09:41

I've got my growth scan on Tuesday when hopefully they will give me a predicted weight. Nice to see some of your weights here so I have something to compare it to. He's still measuring just over 95th centile at my midwife appointments, but like doc I don't know if I want to know! If they reckon he's gonna be 11lb I think I'd rather not know lol They're also gonna check if my placenta has moved up, and if baby has moved himself yet. He's been transverse since day 1. Possible CS on the cards for me! I also think they're a bit worried about my blood loss last time, because I've developed anaemia this pregnancy, so I don't think they will let me go overdue again. It's looking unlikely I'll get my natural birth, but as long as my little boy is healthy I'm ok with that. The whole pregnancy they've said he is absolutely fine, it's just me and my body that will/have been suffering, which is definitely the way I would rather it be.

Hey Newbies! Welcome to the club!

Can't believe we only have a matter of weeks until we start meeting our babies! Who's due to pop first? I'm due on 10th

marmiteandcheeseplease · 21/01/2016 09:53

another one checking into CSC here - lots of tossing and turning due to massive bump. then DD woke up at 4.15am, rattling on our door (she can open her door not but not ours) asking for daddy. had to take her back to bed and repeat my usual mantra that daddy is asleep, daddy sleeps in daddys bed, DD sleeps in DD's bed etc. then she complained she couldn't sleep so I asked her to lie down - nope wouldn't do it. out of desperation I offered her some calpol even though I didn't think anything was wrong (though she could be teething and just a bit uncomfortable). obvs she said yes coz she loved the stuff, lay right down and was asleep within half an hour (vs the usual 1.5-2 hour wakes we've had this week). so I was back in bed by 5 and then she woke up at 6.30. feeling very headachey and unmotivated to work...

welcome Expectant! I totally sympathise with feeling massive and people thinking you are more along than you are- when I was 4 months people were commenting on how I looked 6 months, and at my pregnancy yoga classes I'm as big (or even bigger in some cases) as the 37 weekers! Went to a home birth support group last week and my bump was as big as someone there, started chatting to her and she was 39 weeks Shock. so yes, with you in the 'I'm massive' club.

bump has actually gotten bigger in the last week, can't believe it. was expecting it to slow down but obviously not. I don't think I have a ginormous baby, just crap stomach muscles and an enthusiastic uterus which is expanding loads.

also can't believe we are heading on the home stretch now - am sure some more babies will come early and we will start having births soon! I'm 33 weeks now but fully expect to be late so prob another 8 weeks or so to go. Haven't heard from missi in a while - hope everything is ok. beaut also hasn't been around so hoping all scans are going well!

3 weeks left at work, I am part happy/exciting/can't wait about it, but part terrified at all the stuff I have to do before I leave. not sure why I am arsing around on mumsnet when I should be working haha but I always find after a crap nights sleep I procrastinate a lot more at work...

Rosieblossom123 · 21/01/2016 10:36

hayley good luck on your growth scan, it's always good to have a rough idea though so you could be prepared I guess :)

I'm due the 6th!!

marmite sorry about your rubbish night sleep, I've actually been sleeping alright the last two night but not putting my hopes up haha

Also can't believe we'll be posting pictures of our babies soon Grin

Also 3 weeks left at work from tomorrow, I can't wait but like you still got so much to prepare at work to hand over to the cover girl!

MyNameIsSuz · 21/01/2016 10:46

CSC member here too, feeling awful this morning. I think it'll be better when I finish work - I always end up worrying about something work related, and you know how things always seem so much worse in the middle of the night.

After this week I only have four more weeks! It's starting to feel close now, they've just hired my cover and I handed a project over yesterday (as it was an appropriate point for someone to take over). Feels like it's all wrapping up!

I'm a bit jealous of all of you who know how big your babies are, I have no idea! Definitely bigger than ds I'm sure. I'm feeling huge, though keep being told I'm not and that I'm very neat. I definitely am big though, all my tops have started rolling up like they do when they're too tight, and I look ridiculous in a dress. The baby is really low down so my pelvis hurts, which I never had last time, so tempting to give into the preggo waddle! I am resisting so far.

TheMshipIsBack · 21/01/2016 10:50

hayley For both boys and girls, 95th centile at full term is roughly 4.25kg (9lb6oz), and weight doesn't matter as much as head circumference. Check out these birth weight charts if you're curious. Approximately 90% of term babies will be between roughly 6 and 9lb.

Only 2 weeks of work left for me after tomorrow. I am getting so tired, really struggling to get through the remaining tasks. I wish so much tomorrow was my actual last day, but I'm a scientist, a specialist in a particular type of analysis, and I would be massively letting down my collaborators.

Me624 · 21/01/2016 10:52

I'm due on the 4th! Not expecting him to be on time though!

No idea how big he is either, my bump has been measuring bang on and people tell me it's "neat" too Suz! I am definitely smaller than some of the other mums from my NCT class, all of whom are 1-3 weeks behind me, but I don't think it really means much - we all carry differently and have different levels of water retention etc. I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and hoping I won't get too much bigger but that's probably wishful thinking!

I have been sleeping a bit better the last few nights, just one loo trip and back to sleep quickly! Hope it continues but commiserations to all those still in CSC!

hayleycookie · 21/01/2016 11:21

Ooh interesting, thanks for that Mship. DS was 10lb 5oz (have I mentioned that before Wink ) So a 9lber would be nice. DS always measured bang on every week, but this one is measuring bigger at every point. Like Me I'm hoping thinking that I'm just carrying this one different. He has more fluid or is stretching out or something. I'll be sure to let you all know what the scan says! DS had a 38cm head so as long as this one is a tad smaller, or even same size I reckon I'll manage! If they let me!

I'm working from home so wondering whether I should bother taking any maternity leave before I pop. It would be nice to not have any work to do, but there isn't really much of an excuse not to work right up until I burst so I probably will soldier on!

Wonder where everyone else has gone? There are a lot of people AWOL at the moment aren't there Hmm
