Scared, feet by face is entirely normal! Glad to hear you've had a run of good sleeps. Waking briefly several times also sounds pretty normal.

That's sweet of your SIL. You're sounding so much more positive today! Let's hope it continues!

I haven't had the vibrating baby yet this time. Should I worry about that?!

neh205 · 19/01/2016 19:58

Q hope you aren't too sore 🌻

tri there's always next time, all fingers crossed for you. You deserve a break now! 🌹

I rang doctors this morning to see if I could have 5 mins with the midwife, was told she had no free spaces but would call me. She rang at 5pm in the end :p only to say if I was worried go to the hospital...

Still feeling very weird, I have felt baby move but very soft in comparison to previous energetic movements and not nearly as frequently. Going to keep an eye on things this eve and if he hasnt perked up by the morning will go to the hospital then. Don't want to make my OH drive all that way if baby has just changed position but also want to put my mind at rest.

I've been working 13 hour days , mostly office work but also 3 hrs of commuting too so wondered if I'd just tired baby out! I need to slow down but it's not a natural thing for me to do!

scared lovely to hear about Monday meet ups. That's such a nice idea!

gemsparkle84 · 19/01/2016 20:35

scared my baby is in the sand position. Her head is down and her feet are in front of her face... I've never really had high kicks either.

Guys I'm freaking out, just ran a really hot bath, was a bit too hot for me to get in so ran a bit of cold then slowly got in. It only dawned on me after a couple of minutes we're not supposed to have really hot baths. So anyway I spent a few minutes kneeling up whilst I got washed then got out. Now I'm completely paranoid I've hurt my baby as I was kneeling and where baby's head is was probably submerged. Anyway as you know I have bad anxiety and my mind is going into total overdrive thinking bad thoughts.

Not a happy bunny Sad

Can't believe I totally forgot about avoiding really hot baths.

scaredmum2be · 19/01/2016 20:55

Indom- I wouldn't worry. When's your due date. Mines the 19th and I think I've only felt it twice? Once being yesterday and once today. All babies are different re movement.

Neh- I wouldn't worry. My baby changes still. Some days are more gentle and some days more movement. If your ever worried though do get checked out as it's not worth being stressed when you can get checked.

Gem- I had a panic over this once to. Baby will be fine. And it doesn't sound like you where in their for long.

Completely scared my self these last two evenings and legs are not restless. I can hear and feel my self hyperventilating though. I feel so tense. So now I'm scared I do actually have rls and it wasn't caused my anxiety as surely it would be happening now? The only thing I've done different these last two days is taken a pregnacare vitamin each evening and tried to increase calcium intake, with milk, cheese, yoghurt so etc.
I have a terrible feeling ill sleep rubbish tonight or I'll be plagued by twitching legs again soon and unable to sit still and never sleep again because of it

MrsElls · 19/01/2016 21:23

Grrr restless legs, unfortunately I suffer from it whether I am pregnant or not, I try to see it as my body telling me when I'm tired and using it as a cue to go to bed but its blinking irritating.

I'm a second time mum and completely unprepared, I think the anxiety of being a first time mum might actually be useful for kick starting some action, don't worry you will all be fine and if you are not just ask someone (anyone) for help (then feel free to disregard their advice anyway - mum's know best after all!).

KnitsBakesAndReads · 19/01/2016 21:32

Thanks so much dobby, that's definitely on my to make list now. I'm working on a simple crochet blanket at the moment and also just started an alphabet cross stitch that will hopefully go on the wall in the baby's room - now just have to finish it before he arrives!

Can I apply for honourary membership of the CSC even though I'm probably a little bit behind you all (due April 5)? I've been waking up a lot due to needing the loo or having back pain and then I really struggle to get back to sleep after. The only thing I've found helps a bit is listening to audiobooks. It seems to help me relax and stop thinking so I can then drift off back to sleep. Waking up with tangled headphones is a bit of a pain though! Anyway, just thought I'd mention it in case it helps anyone else.

And hi wool! Smile

Me624 · 19/01/2016 22:20

I definitely haven't had any vibrating baby movements!

gem don't worry about your bath. The advice is to avoid very hot baths to ensure that you don't raise your core body temperature to a level which is potentially dangerous to the baby, but you won't have got even close to that if you were only in there for a few minutes! It would take you being in there for ages (without the water cooling down at all, which of course it would)

gemsparkle84 · 19/01/2016 22:56

Thank you. Yes my core temperature didn't change much as I was only in there for a few minutes. It's the direct heat onto baby I'm worrying about.

bakesandbeads I haven't even considered audiobooks what a great idea. I find it hard to concentrate on reading due to anxiety but I love books... I used to listen to cassettes when I was younger, my fave being 'Little Women'! I might give them a go!

MyNameIsSuz · 20/01/2016 06:10

Urrrrrrrrgh, terrible night's sleep for me, I feel gross!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 20/01/2016 06:47

Sorry to hear about your crap nights sleep suz Cake

gem I wouldn't worry about your hot bath. It's more sauna like temperature which is the issue and its to do with raising your core temperature rather than direct heat on the baby. I was also under the impression that it's early pregnancy where its a real issue.

Spent yesterday evening looking up holiday rentals for our Tuscany trip, was very exciting Grin but expensive (for us, we're stingy haha)! Choice is between one with a small pool in the garden which DD will either love or hate (so bit of a lottery) or one which is fifty quid cheaper for the week but no pool, though is possibly within a half hours walk from wedding so we could walk there rather than driving. Though it'll be Italy in July so not sure a long walk with two children in the heat us a sensible plan! We said we'd sleep on it but woken up just as unsure. Either will be great though I can't believe we are mad enough to contemplate flyingand travel with two small kids, gonna be a nightmare!

knits my DPs mum started on an alphabet cross stitch for DD before she was born... DD got it this past Xmas, at two years old haha! To be fair to his mum she also knits so I think itnwas a case of lots of projects rather than the cross stitch taking that much time. It does look lovely now though.

Interesting about positioning - didn't know face to feet was a thing. I'm relatively convinced baby is head down as feel hiccups v low down but kicks are only just above my belly button and and both sides so she does move a lot. No rib kicks yet but I don't really remember getting them with DD so maybe it's just that I carry very very low.

docmcstuffins1 · 20/01/2016 07:10

I've not had any rib kicks either...tend to be above my belly button and at the sides. Like marmite, I assume I'm just carrying low.

Crispylicious · 20/01/2016 08:22

Urgh I too checked into CSC last night. Had the normal wee wake ups etc and then woke at 4.15 screaming with a bad cramp in my leg and then couldn't get back to sleep until half an hour before my alarm went off! I too had restless legs when I went to bed last night, which I think resulted in the cramp. Need to take my preggo vitamins a bit more consistently I think and also make sure I drink lots in the day. I think dehydration doesn't help.

neh hope things are feeling more normal today.

maybebabybee · 20/01/2016 08:51

I seem to get kicks all over my stomach - both right under the ribs, at the side and very low too. Baby Maybe is all over the place! Think he's always head down though as only feel hiccups quite low.

marmite would strongly advise against a long walk with kids in Italy in summer as the heat is honestly perishing. However I am crap with heat so do take that with a pinch of salt :)

gem don't worry, the stuff about saunas and jacuzzis is grossly over-exaggerated in any case - and you weren't in there very long so you will be absolutely fine :)

gemsparkle84 · 20/01/2016 10:00

Thanks everyone for the reassurance Smile

Also I'm very pleased to hear I'm not the only one who is crap at taking my vitamins Wink

crispybtge leg cramps are awful aren't they. Yes I think you're right I think hydration helps but then again i think we're all getting into some dodgy sleeping positions at the moment which can't help!

marmite Tuscany sound great, how old will baby be? I would definitely go for the pool option. I'm not that much of a pool person, I love a good beach and just reading something listening to the sea but for an extra £50 I don't think I could miss out!

We are still considering an abroad holiday this summer although not settled on anything yet. We would aim for a 2 hour flight or less I think. How does everyone feel about travelling with a small baby? Has anyone done it before?

Have a great day all Biscuit

maybebabybee · 20/01/2016 10:02

I haven't taken any antenatal vitamins at all since 13 weeks when I stopped taking folic acid. My MW told me the vitamins after 13 weeks were for you, not the baby, and as long as I was eating well it would be fine.

I don't like taking any supplements unless I really have to because I am deficient in something, so was happy with that! My mum never took any vitamins either and had four healthy babies :)

maybebabybee · 20/01/2016 10:05

gem DP and I have decided we won't be going abroad for a good 2/3 years now after baby is born. But that is because (a) I am not much of a traveller anyway (b) I am not fussed about hot weather (c) both of us like holidaying in the UK.

Think you should do what is right for you :)

Me624 · 20/01/2016 10:07

I've taken my Pregnacare vitamins a bit sporadically in the last few weeks! I don't think my diet is great so I should take them really. I was very good at taking them in the first trimester when it's most important.

DH and I are planning either a UK holiday this year or maybe a holiday in France that we can drive to. I cannot contemplate getting on a plane with my 4/5 month old and all the stuff I think he will need! Suspect those of you who are second time mums would be more confident about it!

TriJo · 20/01/2016 10:13

Gem We're planning to go to Ireland for around 7-10 days in June to visit family and let everyone see the baby, we're planning to take the car and go by ferry though. My DH is going to Brazil for the Olympics in August (kind of a family trip for his side, his brother is an athletics journalist) so I'm going to go visit my family again, flying this time, at that stage.

Up three times during the night and still feel pancaked even though my actual sleeping time added up to a decent amount. Bleurgh. Cracking up at this though :)

hayleycookie · 20/01/2016 10:33

Haha Tri That cheered me up this morning! All so very accurate!

RhubarbAndMustard · 20/01/2016 10:34

Love that link TriJo. Its soooo accurate!

Like maybe I haven't taken any pregnancy vitamins since about week 13. In fact I've just given my surplus away. I do have a stash of Pregnacare + breast feeding ones for later though.

Lots of respect for those planning holidays with babies. DS was great in the car, but we are going to wait and see with this one and then maybe plan a chalet type holiday in France. My friend's baby screams every time he is in the car, so don't think I could cope with the stress of that.

Another bad night for me of tossing and turning. Finally got so uncomfortable that I got up and showered.....at 5am! Going to be a long day. We are desperate for a new mattress really but just can't afford it right now.

vroc81 · 20/01/2016 11:59

Sorry to hear all of you with poor nights sleep, I have had better sleep but with it some weird dreams...

I've just come back from my 34 week scan and consultants appointment and despite attending it in my normal jeans with my lack of bump I am apparently harbouring some kind of giant of a baby with all the measurements well up at the top end towards the 95th percentile, femur being the largest with abdominal not far behind... The scanner was really good and talked my mum (who I had taken along...) round everything and gave us some pictures..

Consultant said all was fine and she was just a larger than average but still average baby and no further appointments or anything extra was needed...

..but then gave me a lecture about glucose and exercise. I find this really disheartening like they can't look beyond the BMI on my sheet.. He told me to make sure I was exercising and I really wish I had dared to retort "well I was a bit achey on saturday after logging up 10km but still managed 6km on Sunday and 5km every day since if that counts as exercise?" He then said that while my blood sugar is fine for UK guidelines there has been some research that my pre-fasting levels would put me as having GD in the USA, post fasting was fine so I can obviously process them but if I "avoid bowls of frosties and too much refined sugar and have complex carbs instead"... Damn better get off that Frosties diet then...

Rosieblossom123 · 20/01/2016 12:29

Hi girls, had a bit of a stressful weekend so haven't had time to be on here!
Felt very faint movements all day Saturday which is very unusual, so left it to see what happens Sunday morning but ended up not sleeping all night and rand labour line as DAU where shut, they asked me to go straight away at 6:30am dp was not happy but he knew we had to. They monitored baby and she was absolutely fine, as usual as soon as we started the monitoring, she started doing her gymnastics in there, they said they wanted to scan me though as it's my 3rd time in there. Scan was absolutely fine not problems at all so I don't know why she keeps giving me mini heart attacks :( Oh and she weighs 4lb 7os already and I've still got 6 weeks and 4 days so I wonder how big she'll actually be haha

scared baby's position was also head down and feet on her face, it was so cute, I asked why do I sometimes get movements really low and she said it might be her fingers, so cute :)

Another one here who feels completely unprepared even though I've basically done everything still feel like something is missing!!

vroc81 · 20/01/2016 13:10

Rosie glad everything was ok, and with 6 weeks 4 days from my scan today left I've apparently got a whopper 5lb 6oz in there so hoping their weight estimate is grossly inaccurate! Do you think she just has quiet times? I phoned my Dsis when I had a few hours of quieter movement and she said she couldnt help me with movement advice as my nephew had been a very still baby the whole time so she didn't have a lot of movement - that was the norm for them though..

KnitsBakesAndReads · 20/01/2016 13:14

gem, I find audiobooks are good if I'm struggling to concentrate on reading a book too. If you want to to try them out then two sites I'd recommend are:

Librivox - loads of books totally free to download. They're mostly classics (including Little Women!). They can vary a bit in quality as I think they're often read by volunteers, but as they're free it doesn't really matter if you download one and don't like the reading style.

Audible - you have to pay for this, but they give you a month's free trial to start with which allows you to download one book totally free and you can cancel after a month so you don't have to pay anything. If you want to continue then it's £7.99 a month and you can download one book every month. (I don't work for them, just a loyal and satisfied customer!)

marmite, I bet I'll end up doing that with this cross stitch too, despite all my good intentions of finishing it before the baby arrives. I've just had to reduce my work hours due to PGP / back pain so I'm hoping if I can find a comfy position on my sofa then I might be able to spend an extra hour or two working on the cross stitch.

Love that link TriJo, think I might use it as a response to the next person who asks how I'm doing!

Me624 · 20/01/2016 13:26

Aw Rosie sorry you had a stressful weekend. Baby me certainly had quieter days than others but thankfully I haven't got to a point yet where he's gone quiet enough that I'm worried. All the advice is always get checked if you're not sure.

I've heard that babies put on half a pound a week from now on, so if yours is 4lb7 and you've got 6 weeks to go then she will probably be about 7lb7? I'd love to know how big mine is, I haven't had any scans since my 20 week one!
