Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant Smile 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!! Grin

Oh and I'm also on the building work bandwagon. We've been talking about re-doing kitchen and bathroom (swapping them around) for about a year, so definitely want it done before bringing a baby into the equation. We had a broken boiler all last week and that was bad in enough though, so hopefully will cope with the disruption!

ohanami · 21/01/2016 19:51

More building work here too - we're having a loft room built in the spring. It's taken such a long time to jump through the hoops of plans, planning permission, more plans, money, etc that I'm really excited just to get started. And ignoring the six weeks of camping in the living room while the upstairs is a building site... Better to get it done now though rather than with a newborn to manage as well - I was all for ttc six months ago and having the work done while I was on mat leave but am extremely glad dh made me see sense now!

CatFaceCrayola · 21/01/2016 19:54

I've spent the day boarding a loft so am exhausted!
DH is running me a bath for when DD finally goes to sleep though

Sausage2229 · 21/01/2016 20:11

Any tips for all day nausea??

MrsS182 · 21/01/2016 20:41

Eating little and often sausage

My horrible day is just going from bad to worse. Mil is no longer speaking to me as I cancelled a family meal as I wasn't feeling up to it. Never mind I've seen them three times this week, I've been spewing all day and a restaurant is the last place I want to go! She knows I'm pregnant but still laid into DH and accused me of not wanting to spend time with them and not liking them. Feel shit now Sad

OTheHugeManatee · 21/01/2016 20:52

MrsS - What a miserable cow [shock

Hope your DH stuck up for you.

MrsS182 · 21/01/2016 20:56

Yes he did manatee. It didn't help that he also cancelled as he wanted to stay look after me. It's taken me all day to drink one glass of juice ffs it's not like ive made it up!

Sausage2229 · 21/01/2016 21:19

She's completely out of order Mrs S! Shocking behaviour!!

MrsS182 · 21/01/2016 21:32

Not sure what to do. I think it must have been quite bad as he wont tell me exactly what was said just the jist of it. Don't really want to see her for a while now.

nailsathome · 21/01/2016 23:29

Mrs what a cow! Especially knowing you're pregnant.

I did pole this evening for the first time since I found out. I'm beyond exhausted but very impressed that I managed to keep up and do all of my moves.

peardrop2 · 22/01/2016 03:25

Have any of you ladies thought about buying a HomeKit Doppler? They're so easy to use and a lot cheaper then a scan. It might help give some of you reassurance as so many of you're anxious about early MC Sad

I was very anxious the first time and wanted an early scan. Second time round, now that I know the procedure and my body better I am more happy to wait the 12 weeks. The way I'm seeing it is I have no control either way so I may as well wait and quite frankly it's not just the 12 weeks we have to worry about Confused

All this talk on this thread about MC has rubbed off on me though so I ended up paranoid tonight and asked DH if we could hear the heartbeat again which he agreed to and I must say there is something special about hearing a little heartbeat in your tummy at such an early stage, A true miracle that something so tiny is growing in us Smile

peardrop2 · 22/01/2016 03:28

And obviously since it's 3am I am suffering from pregnancy insomnia again Shock Damn loo trips!!

OP posts:
icklekid · 22/01/2016 04:13

Wide awake here too.
Just a word of caution with dopplers in that I don't always think it is easy to distinguish between heartbeat and placenta pulsing. A friend reassured herself later in pregnancy that nothing was wrong because she could hear even heartbeat despite reduced movement. She did eventually go in and baby was in a lot of distress. Sorry to be all serious and I know pear is right it's lovely to hear but just needed to share.

Oxlady · 22/01/2016 04:22

Hi ladies!

I got a bfp a week ago and I am absolutely thrilled! I got 3 negatives until the 10th day when finally got a positive! I am 6+2 so it's early days but I can't help but be excited! I have a 16 month lg who is still breastfeeding and my nipples are sore! I did have some nausea but it seems to have stopped over the last few days so enjoying the lack of symptoms for now!

My booking appointment is on Tuesday with One to One midwives! Is anybody else having their pregnancy care provided by them? I referred to them after 20 weeks with my first and they were amazing.

I have added myself to the list.

Ickle - yes you're right. Movement comes first. I would never ever take the Doppler as a sign that everything is OK it even stresses that in the instructions. Lack of movement and discomfort should always be reported. Sorry I have to disagree on the heartbeat placenta detection thing because it's always been very obvious to me that we've picked up a heartbeat. You can also tell just by looking at the bpm!

FrazzleRock · 22/01/2016 05:52

Morning all!

Well, what a lot to catch up on! I'll have a little read through on the tube into work but just wanted to say hi to everyone. I was up at the sparrow's fart again and now I'm waiting for my 6am alarm to drag my arse out of bed. 16 minutes and counting....
My bed is soooo warm though!

I've got a half day today. My sister is a massive Suede fan (I was back in the day and I still like them, just not a fanatic like her). So, I'm taking the boys to see them at a signing at HMV after school. Gonna meet the sis there. Took the half day so I could collect the boys at normal school kicking out time. I'll even have time for a good run on the treadmill!

Talking of bands, I've got the Stone Roses in June (on my birthday - is a treat from DP) so gotta travel up to Manchester and we have standing tickets. I worked out I'll be about 6 months pregnant. Reckon we should try and swap for seating? This will make me very sad but I don't want to miss it!

Oh look 8 minutes to go. I'm going to have to get up I'm desperate for a wee Angry

Lilliana · 22/01/2016 06:24

frazzle I'm in the same position - Waiting for my alarm and so cosy but desperate for a wee!' 7 minutes left I'm not wasting them on the loo Grin

wineandcheeseplease · 22/01/2016 06:34

Oxlady - I'm meeting my one 2 one midwife tonight! Heard great things about them!

FrazzleRock · 22/01/2016 06:50

Whats the deal with one-to-one midwives? Is this a private thing?

Kitkatmonster · 22/01/2016 07:08

frazzle www.onetoonemidwives.org/

Not sure I get it to be honest. Are they very much North England based? Site mentions Crewe and Warrington.

Kitkatmonster · 22/01/2016 07:12

Wikipedia to the rescue, they have contracts in some areas then! I'm too far south. Sounds a really good idea if you are placed in the right area of the UK.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_To_One_Midwives

Lilliana · 22/01/2016 07:14

I've never heard of them either but we always get things last in the West Country!!

bananamonkey · 22/01/2016 08:08

Morning all, great news Kimbles!

No nausea or sickness for me either (6 + 1 today) it's making me super paranoid something is wrong. Just did a test (testing every week to make sure I'm not imagining it!) and a dark line came up straight away so trying to use that as reassurance.

I don't know if it's a pregnancy symptom or just something I ate but for the last few days I've been mega bloated with painful stomach cramps that are waking me up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

Annarose2014 · 22/01/2016 08:18

Re dopplers. Mine is the Angelcare one which has no bpm screen. You literally have to time the heartbeats on your watch. Still, it was cheap and effective.

I heard a good description of placenta noise. "Like wind through a forest of ghosts". So once you have that in youhead its easy to distinguish. (I dislike placenta noise - I find it eerie)

Then a heartbeat is a galloping horse/thundering train. And will be in your pubes at first, lol. I could have saved myself a lot of anxiety if I'd known that! I had it pressed against my tummy, freaking out!

I havent taken mine out yet. I'm only 5+3 or thereabouts. Last time I waited till 9 weeks so will try to wait that long this time too, just so I have some chance of picking something up.

Thethingidontfancy · 22/01/2016 08:20

Morning everyone. Just adding myself to the list.

We were contemplating building work but having seen our neighbours still with their house inside out months after due completion date I am having a big rethink. No doubt my toddler would love all those tools around the place though!

Totally relate to the sickness - seems harder when you can't really say out loud how you feel as you don't want everyone guessing about pregnancy.
Had MIL here for four days last weekend and I think the duplicity was the hardest part.

Hope you all get through today x
