Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 43rd grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 42nd grads thread is HERE

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread HERE
for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

HERE is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates. (Except it's not because I don't know how to link to the stats sheet!)

Jelly, when I went in for monitoring they said that they wanted to see variation in babies hb. So if baby moved or I had a BH then babies hb should go up and then go back down to the base line. Maybe Jelly baby was just having a party in there? Have a Brew and try to relax. The more chilled you are the more chilled baby will be. Flowers

5hell - I've had two anti D injections now - one in arm and one in top of arse cheek (no bending over was required!). For me personally, I found the top of arse cheek to be far less painful than in the arm, but you may find that the nurse/dr has a very strong preference for one over the other.

To be honest, it was a gp who gave me the injection in the arm, and a nurse who did it in the arse, so it might just be down to the fact that the nurse was much more experienced at giving injections.

As far as injections go, in all honesty it isn't a very nice one. It reminded me of my heb B vaccination if you've had that done?

I would strongly advise not to look at the needle (as it's big!). That said, I'm a massive needle phobe, and managed to get through two of them without passing out, so it can't be that bad! Grin

On a soreness scale, it will be a bit sore for the rest of the day, but to be honest I had WAY WAY more soreness with my flu jab.

5hell · 06/01/2016 11:01

thanks gouda ...i'm not at all needle phobic so not worried really, except about figuring out where i'm meant to go at the hospital

FeatheredTail · 06/01/2016 11:28

No hooyah Jelly just a hug and some reassurance that if there was an issue you would have been told and kept in. And it's not a downer to voice concerns/anxieties on the thread! It's what we're here for!

I'm holding off buying a special pillow because....WE HAVE ORDERED A NEW SUPER DUPER SNAZZY BELLS AND WHISTLES MATTRESS! So on 16 January I can finally chuck out my £65, 8 year old ikea skinny lumpy old mattress and recline on a brand new posh one instead! THANK YOU WARREN EVANS!

I'm so excited it's ridiculous. Only downside is that we've now spent the money we had set aside to pay the balance on the new front door (the one that never was because the company screwed us). Oh well. Who, erm, needs a front door, hey?!

ThursdayLastWeek · 06/01/2016 11:44

We got a new mattress before Christmas feathered and it's AMAZING!
Make sure you've got something to protect it from your waters!

Ggrrrr.....took me 9 phone calls to get through to the hospital to check re my scan....
I have to call back on Monday (when I'll be 11+5) because the appointment hasn't been booked yet as they have a backlog from Christmas/New Year.....

jellypi3 · 06/01/2016 12:56

How frustrating mermaid I hope they see to you soon!!

pretzelpieces · 06/01/2016 13:12

mermaid that's rubbish of them! Make sure they know how far along you are as I think the nuchal fold has to be measured by 14 weeks or something?

KeepTheHope · 06/01/2016 15:25

Hello strangers! Completely fell off fred over the festive period! Hope you all had a lovely time. I've spent last night and my of the last few hours catching up with everything!

Corgi if you're still around I am so sorry Thanks hope you're coping ok.

Pud huge congratulations! She's gorgeous.

BrewThanksCake to all feeling ill or down and Star for the good scans.

Sorry if I forgot anything!

I'm 10+3 today, it seems to be going quite slowly and 12wk scan on 21st seems forever away. I'm hoping once we've had that scan it might speed up a little bit. Still having some sickness and nausea but nowhere near as bad as before Xmas so I'm hopeful it's on it's way out now.

Nefertitts · 06/01/2016 15:29

Jelly sorry about HB scare but it sounds like she's ok. They'd have told you if there was something you needed to keep an eye on I'm sure. I've found the last few weeks I've worried more about the baby than at any other point in this pregnancy, so no hooyah, just hugs - I think it's inevitable as you start to focus more on it.

Lil I haven't tried the dream geni (why isn't it a genius?) but I did get one of those 12ft either side preggo pillows off amazon and wasn't that impressed. I've now got a long bolster pillow which I find much better as it's higher and I can hook a leg over it properly. I'm a front sleeper and it feels like I can properly lean into it iyswim, almost like being on my front, but without rolling. That said, at this point, nothing is comfortable!

Feathered your new mattress sounds amazing. We bought a stupidly expensive mattress from John Lewis when we bought our house and it is the best thing ever, I love it to bits and I haven't slept on it since 20 weeks cos it's being shipped sob.**
*
Mermaid* it's definitely worth making s fuss over the scan date as it is time sensitive.

Poowatch - poo happened! Babywatch - nothing happened!

So fucking fat it's ridiculous.... Waddle waddle.

Nefertitts · 06/01/2016 16:00

PS Gouda I can go one better than the French obsession with administering medication up the bottom. Apparently here if I want to use the birthing pool I have to have an enema. Not fucking amused!

honeysucklejasmine · 06/01/2016 16:14

An enema! LOL enjoy that, won't you!

Sorry, should be more sympathetic!

fruitlovingmonkey · 06/01/2016 16:36

Hello viroids! I've been struggling to keep up with the thread but I'm trying to catch up now.
Molly you are doing a brilliant job.
Don't feel bad about getting help from the grandparents, that's what they are there for.
Mermaid, that's crap. Definitely kick up a fuss on Monday.
Yay for new mattress Feathered. It was such a great feeling throwing out my crappy bit of IKEA foam after way too many years of making do with it.
Hope you are feeling more relaxed Jelly. It must've been scary but I'm sure they checked out baby thoroughly.
Lil it sounds like girls are the quiet ones at scan time. Mine is a boy and he goes nuts on the ultrasound.
Glad the nausea is easing up Keep.
Major parenting fail today. We have the week off so drove 1.5 hours to a major city to look at prams only for the two main shops to be randomly shut, one just for the day and the other for a week long stock take. Then we drove out of the city (the other way) to a big baby superstore only to find they didn't have them but their sister shop in the city did. Now we are hitting rush hour leaving the city and DH needs coffee!

Peenut · 06/01/2016 16:46

OOOPh to enemas! That's very call the midwife isn't it?! Still, maybe it'll be like a colonic, they are meant to be very re-energising I'm told! :)

A new mattress is one of the best joys of life! We ditched out Ikea one last year and the new one is SO much comfier Feathered. Treat it as a great big two fingers to the lost door tragedy.

Jelly, think it's Ok to stress a bit as it's only natural and advice others have given is really sound advice. My SIL was telling me that babies do crazy stuff like not having a breathing pattern and suddenly stopping breathing for worrying lengths of time while they learn to be human, all normal apprently! Those of you with kids prob know that but it was yet another thing I've only just discovered!

Mermaid –that's rubbish! When I went to the hospital for mine there was a poor girl there whose scan appointment had been moved but nobody told her. If I'd been told that I'd have freaked –I was so geared up on the day that I'd have been crushed to hear I had to wait.

I say hound them! It's their mistake and they need to find a way to fit you in!

5hell · 06/01/2016 17:21

hmmm agree with pee that is a bit Call the MW niff!! ...they obviously aren't fans of fishing poop out of pools Grin

got stabbed 5 times at my 28 wk bloods plus antiD appointment today, and had to walk length of hospital to find maternity day care, and pay £2.60 parking for the privilege Hmm ...gouda antiD was in top of arm for me

sorry about your epic pram hunt fruit - did you find one you liked anywhere, or was it fruitless? ;)

FeatheredTail · 06/01/2016 17:25

Good grief, I hadn't thought of my waters going on The New Mattress (TM) Thursday - bin bag round the bum from April onwards it is then!

Pee that made me snort. I will certainly treat it as two fingers to the Front Door That Never Was (also TM).

Mer CAUSE A MASSIVE FUSS! That's so irritating! Especially since the first 12 weeks of pregnancy are in fact equal to around 2.5 years in viroid terms. Seriously, the first tri is hard enough without having to wait even longer for your first scan. Are there any affordable private clinics in your area? They do them close to my work in London, but they're £70. I think honey found cheaper alternatives elsewhere in the country, if you wanted to see your bean sooner?

Fruit your day sounds hideous and frustrating. Your DH needs more than a coffee. You need some cake. How bloody annoying for you both!

Niff please never use the "E" word again on this board Wink

That is bad shopping luck fruit! Just the kind of thing that would happen to us too.

We finally have a fully plastered kitchen, a mere three years since we had it re fitted Grin. DS and I have exiled ourselves to allow the various menfolk to DIY unencumbered and are now totally exhausted.

DH just suggested fish and chips for tea and I nearly wept with relief.

Every sales assistant who served me in town today asked me how far along I was. I guess there's no denying it anymore. They all proceeded to tell me I have a neat bump too.

Cheeky wipes have £10 off all their sets til the end of Jan if anyone is interested. I just ordered some.

Niff! Shock

Okay, 'birth reflections'. This could be long so apologies if I x post but I am hoping that my experience will reassure some of you as I know we had some of the same fears/concerns going into birth.

Prior to getting pregnant I was terrified of birth. The pain. The mess. The indignity.
I decided therefore that I should educate myself about birth. Knowledge is power etc.
I read a lot about birth on MN, attended Daisy Birthing, NHS antenatal classes and read the hypnobirthing and natal hypnotherapy books.

Knowing more about birth definitely helped to ally my fears; but only for a certain type of birth. In the lovely quiet MLU (less than 1 birth a day), pool, hypnotherapy, only G & A, no interventions, no VEs etc.
However, by reading so much about natural childbirth, my fear of anything other than that increased. MN and hypnobirthing in particular had a powerfully negative affect here. I didn't want to go to the 'Big Bad Hospital' (14 births a day!) With the 'Big Bad Doctors' who would 'do things to me' without my consent.

As it got closer to the birth I knew that I would very much like a calm, natural birth, but started to try to change my thinking about interventions etc. I have a lot of friends who are doctors and none of them are evil! They take great care of their patients and I realised that I needed to be able to trust the doctors if the need arose.

So, I started with a lovely natural labour, in the pool, Natal hypnotherapy cd on, G&A. Lovely. I was falling asleep between contractions on the side of the pool!

I had always assumed that if I had to be transferred to hospital it would be because I couldn't cope with the pain. I forgot that there was someone else involved.... baby pud. She pooed (a lot) during the pushing stage and therefore the MW had to call an ambulance. The mw tried everything to get baby out before the paramedics arrived including catheterisation as for some reason I couldn't wee! Shock

(Going to post this bit in case it disappears...)

Hobbit19 · 06/01/2016 18:49

Got to feed! Second installment later! (Ooh the suspense!) Wink

honeysucklejasmine · 06/01/2016 20:02

clings to edge of seat

pretzelpieces · 06/01/2016 20:13

keep don't stay away so long! My pregnancy has gone really slowly except for between 32 and 35 weeks and I think that's cause it was Christmas. Hmm

niff an enema! Oh dear!

Oof, bad luck fruit. Have you picked one out now? I got the mamas and papas armadillo flip travel system in teal and I'm kind of in love with it. #dork

Today I packed a maternity bed pad and cut open bin bag in my backpack that I take with me everywhere just in case my waters break while I'm out and about. I also impulse bought a connecta sling, which I'm really excited about! It is rainbow striped! Perfect for when she comes to her first Pride Grin

Eagerly awaiting pud's second installment so I'll post this and see if it appears...

ThursdayLastWeek · 06/01/2016 20:25

Yay for sling buying pretz and v impressed with your waters preparation!
Linky for the sling??

I bought more baby gros from M&S Smile

It's this one Thursday! Squee. If we don't get on with it they seem to sell for nearly new cost second hand, so should be able to flog it.

Ooh let's see pics of your latest acquisitions! shopping enabling club Grin
