April 2016 babies - 20-week scans, growing bumps and little kicks!

Hi all,

I've started a new thread to take us up to the third trimester.

Hope you are all feeling well. I feel like my bump is a little small and I'm not feeling lots of movement (but this may be due to an anterior placenta). Got my 20-week scan tomorrow so not long to wait to see if everything's ok - it's actually nearly 22 weeks though as baby really wasn't playing ball when we went last week and was hiding with its back to the scanner.

Getting excited that I'm halfway there though...

How exciting though Want2, not long now!

MazzleDazzle · 12/03/2016 17:42

When is your date Want2B? I can't wait until we start meeting these babies!

It does seem like somewhat of a design flaw that only after 9 months of pregnancy do you get your newborn! I feel physically and mentally frazzled already. If only the stork really did do deliveries Smile.

I'm going to try to be as easy on myself as possible once the baby gets here. Thankfully my cs is booked for the Easter hols so we'll get to take it easy for a week or so before we have to be up and organised for the school run.

Do those of you with older kids have some help organised for straight after the birth? I remember with my first I couldn't even imagine being up and out of the house before 10am!

Want2bSupermum · 12/03/2016 18:14

My due date is April 2nd. The doctor wants me to try everything to get me into labour. She has me booked in for two acupuncture sessions today and an induction massage for tomorrow. She wants me to put the breast pump on for an hour morning and night too. She said I was 2oz off the weight limit for early CS at 37weeks due to the babies size. She is concerned the baby is going to be close to 10lb and said it isn't an ideal size at all.

Care for the kids is complicated. My brother arrives tomorrow as DH has to attend a strategy meeting for 3 days back in Europe. It sounds oh so glam but honestly I am really feeling the expat 'tax' and if I hear from anyone how we have it easy because DH earns lots I might just explode. We managed to get my brothers flight booked this morning after DH was told in no uncertain terms that he has to attend this bloody meeting in person. My brother is in the army and his boss was shocked. My brother will work from here but come with me if I go into labour. I have friends on speed dial to look after the kids.

When DH travels in April it won't be that bad. I have help Monday- Thursday for the kids after school. DS takes the bus up to school and dd is one block away with 3 parents who have offered to walk her up as they pass out house anyway.

Baby is no longer breech, is weighing in at 5lb 15oz and given marching orders for 37/38 weeks. Got an appointment on the 7th of April where I'll get a stretch and sweep and then I'll most likely be induced on the 9th. I did (TMI) lose my plug this weekend and consultant said seeing as I'm only 34 weeks it's a good sign I might go before induction anyway which they won't stop now. Exciting!

Wait4nothing · 14/03/2016 18:53

Exciting news crumbly!

ComeLuckyApril · 15/03/2016 08:17

That's great Crumbly!

36+3 here and she keeps bashing her head into me like she's trying to find the way out, woke up last night with her testing the navel for strength. No such promising signs here, though did have some random pains that I wondered about. They've gone, after terrifying DH - apparently it's not convenient at all at work if the baby comes soon!

FatimaLovesBread · 15/03/2016 08:52

37 weeks today! Woohoo
Baby was v uncomfortable last night, lots of cramps and braxton hicks. I can't work out what position it is in either. It was no longer breech last time I was checked but there's some odd lumps and bumps.

It's not allowed to come until Friday at the earliest as I have a hair appointment on Thursday Grin

I had my midwife appointment at 36 weeks (actuallctually 35+3) and would normally have a 38 week one this Friday at 37+3 but she didn't bother booking me one as I've got a growth scan next week at 38+1. So my next appointment isn't till my 40 week one at 39+3.
I kind of wish I'd still booked one for this week now, just to find out position etc.

Do you think I'd be mad to ring and see if there's any slots left? 4 week gap right at the end seems ages. Although I suppose I've the growth scan next week

FatimaLovesBread · 15/03/2016 08:52

Sorry that post ended up being huge Grin

crumblybiscuits · 15/03/2016 10:46

Fatima 37 weeks, how exciting! I would definitely book one just for reassurance. I don't think she'd mind in the slightest and it can't hurt to keep an eye on BP and such too.
Come DP is also trying to 'time' baby for best case of work. Random pains are good, all signs of things heading in the right direction!
I wonder who will be the first to have a baby from this thread. Such an exciting time for everyone.

FatimaLovesBread · 15/03/2016 12:27

I've rung up this morning, there no appts for this friday left but they're doing an extra clinic on Monday to make up for being closed good Friday so I have booked one for then. I've been getting a lot of uncomfortable twinges so really want to see what position it's in.

Want2bSupermum · 15/03/2016 12:55

I'm not someone who goes into labour so I've really pushed it with this pregnancy. I have another session of acupuncture today and I've been getting as much sleep as possible. She has been quiet this morning after my induction massage last night. Basically if she doesn't come out today or tomorrow I'm going to go back for another massage on Friday with an acupuncture session on Saturday. Hopefully that will be enough to get me going.

FatimaLovesBread · 15/03/2016 14:41

Sorry I've probably missed it want2b but how come you want labour asap? Do they not want you to go past your due date?

MazzleDazzle · 15/03/2016 20:59

DH is on his way! It's been a long (and eventful!) five weeks. I am going to mile it for all it's worth.

Bring on the box sets and bed rest! Grin

emmac3616 · 15/03/2016 22:35

Hi ladies, glad to hear everyone is getting along nicely! I'm intrigued to hear how the acupuncture works out... and also tempted by reflexology. That being said, I'm 36+5 and DS woke up with chicken pox, so actually now want the baby to stay in for at least a couple of weeks so we are all clear of that... i had chicken pox when i was a child, though not badly... any idea how risky it is for mums in this late stage of pregnancy? I guess its better he gets it now than when the baby is here... but he looks so poorly :-( Also, can't now go to nursery so my 3 weeks of relaxing Mat Leave have somewhat gone out of the window. All advice much appreciated!
Emma

fatima it's not good to have a huge baby. DS was 10lb6oz. He had problems with his blood sugar levels and I had a terrible time trying to BF. He lost more than 10% of his body weight in the first 24hrs and by 48 hours, even with supplementing with formula he was still losing weight. He was not all together with it and we were very worried about him. My obn has said that big babies are not always best. She said this baby is ready to come out. My body is starting to have problems with swollen hands and feet, high blood pressure, bladder pain from the constant pressure and I'm expecting to get piles at any moment. She is back to back so I'm spinning and doing everything to get things moving.

It is time for this little girl to make her entrance!

Rinnyx · 19/03/2016 19:11

Hi ladies, haven't been on here in ages I think (been somewhat active on the FB group)

So I turned 38 weeks Friday and the week before that I finally went on maternity leave at 37 weeks even tho I wanted to work til Easter holidays, day off 39 weeks.
I work in a school.

I'm at the stage now where I just feel huge, tired and just getting up and down is a task and a half.
Baby is 2/5 engaged so I'm forever feeling I need to pee and Tuesday night I was up the hospital due to reduced moment, thankfully they were happy with the results, got minimum moment they wanted in the hour I was strapped up to the monitor for heartbeat and movement but saw midwife next day for my 38 week app (already booked) but she was not happy with hearing about the reduced movement, baby being out of their pattern and also it seems baby has not grown since I was last seen so Wednesday I am having to go up to the hospital for a growth scan.

So the days seem to be dragging even more so since I've been on mat leave and extra now waiting for scan day.

MazzleDazzle · 21/03/2016 10:36

I can't believe how easy my life is not working! I only worked PT before (with a lot of unpaid overtime and paperwork at home!), but it was so easy to fall behind with housework, especially the laundry. On my days off I was always racing around dropping off/picking up the kids, usually late!

But now my life is a breeze! No laundry pile, no ironing pile, everything is tidyish, we arrive early... until next week when this baby arrives and the shit hits the fan! Grin

I'm so looking forward to the baby's arrival, but also dreading the sleep deprivation! My kids have slept through for the last 3 years. It will be a shock to the system!

Want2bSupermum · 22/03/2016 14:03

mazzel It's lovely isn't it. Both of my elder DC are at school from 8:30-3:30pm now. Yesterday I tackled the last two boxes left over from our move 18 months ago. It's the first time I've been on my own so able to get to it. DH came home at 9pm after a long day of flying down to Atlanta and couldn't believe how much I had gotten through on my first day of leave. He left for Virginia this morning at 5:30am and called me to say thank you for sterilizing his bathroom! I've run out and purchased an air cleaner and had to change it twice in 12 hours. I'm disgusted at how dirty our home was.

JAS1504 · 22/03/2016 16:20

Hey everyone I am new here :)
My baby is due mid April - I am now 35+3 weeks and his little head was 1/5th engaged when I saw the midwife last week, so feeling a little more uncomfortable each day!

Has anyone else experienced low down period-like pains and then high up sharp pains in the middle of the night?! This is my first baby so not sure what BH contractions are like and what to look out for at this stage of pregnancy!

MazzleDazzle · 23/03/2016 11:34

Welcome JAS! Not long to go now. Do you know what you're having?

This page is fairly quietish, but there is also a private Facebook group for April babies. If you want added to it, drop me a message. It's generally busier: we've had 3 babies born already and someone is in labour right now!

This is my 3rd and I honestly have no idea what BH feel like! I often get shooting pains, but don't know what they are.

Want2B what's an air cleaner? Is it the same as a steam cleaner? Thankfully we have a cleaner, otherwise my house would be a health hazard!

Lollipop11 · 24/03/2016 09:56

crumblybiscuits · 27/03/2016 19:04

Could I be added to the Facebook group too please? So quiet on this thread!
