ffaux, I don't know much about the bjcm, but as a fellow stair-climber I can say definitely go for something light! I went for a quinny buzz when ds was born because it's small folded and it's light, and it was perfectly manageable. And actually, it has massive back air-filled tyres so if we got back when he was sleeping I could bump it backwards up the stairs and wheel him in.
And teal is lovely and would be perfect for a girl! I'm a believer in quite neutral colours for the big stuff so you can use for any future babies, I think teal is unisex enough!

TheMshipIsBack · 27/11/2015 16:38

ffaux this baby's a girl and teal will do very well. I think you should go for it. I've managed London tube stations with no lifts with mine, and the one hand collapse means you can hoik your baby, change bag, and buggy all together.

TheMshipIsBack · 27/11/2015 16:40

Beautiful didn't comment on your other thread but did have a look. Quite the bunch of judgey-pants over there! I'm sure you'll work out something suitable in the end.

BeautifulLiar · 27/11/2015 16:42

Marmite what puts you off Feb 23rd? Do you think you'd be too big, or that baby girl might be here?

BeautifulLiar · 27/11/2015 16:46

Oh tell me about it! I'd LOVE to have written a thread saying "DH wants to move back in as I'm expecting his baby but I'd rather claim benefits tbh. At least then the council can pay my rent." I'm pretty sure the responses would have been very different!! Grrrr.

We've got a black Cabriofix from last time, I like it :)

Oh Suz I dreamt that I was diagnosed with breast cancer and DH left me which made for a fun night!

ffauxlivia · 27/11/2015 16:52

thanks Mship and suz I just bought it - eek first proper purchase! Did go for teal in the end :)

marmite I had a registry office wedding as the venue we wanted our ceremony at wasn't licensed, so we did the registry office first and the next day had a humanist ceremony at our location followed by party etc. Anyway it was pretty quick and easy and I think would be doable with a tiny baby. I remember waiting around a lot beforehand but maybe we just came too early. I guess the only difficulty might be if you are breastfeeding and timing it etc?

BeautifulLiar · 27/11/2015 17:00

Congrats on your purchase ffaux! Grin I'm SO tired. So many clothes to put away... dinner to cook (the kids have all told me they don't like what I'm going to make - great!)... need to tidy up ready for carpet people measure up tomorrow...

Does anyone think it's worth paying out for new carpets in a rented house? I love this house but have hated the carpets since the day we viewed it!!

IndomitabIe · 27/11/2015 17:08

Ginger you're not being silly, I can absolutely see your point.

Glad you're all good, Beaut. Is your DH back in with you? Great news if so (I hope!).

ThePug · 27/11/2015 17:09

Yay for all the black friday spending!! I got the Motorola MBP27T monitor from Amazon last night and saw today that our local independent baby shop have 10% off everything all weekend so DH and I will be going there tomorrow to order the pram (Joolz Geo), car seat & isofix (probably the Pebble Plus and 2way base). So excited to get the last of the major items ordered!

ffaux We had thanksgiving dinner last night with my DH's half-brother & family who were over from Washington. His other half-brother (who lives in the UK but is a bit ermmm, 'liberal') said when we sat down that after starters we all had to go round the table to say what we were thankful for. Some went humorous, I went with how thankful I was that the newest member of the family would be welcomed into such a happy & loving extended family. DH left me gobsmacked by being ridiculously cute and saying he was thankful for how well I was coping with the pregnancy and that our family will be growing etc etc. The only time he's ever said anything remotely like that was in his wedding speech and even then I thought it was only because he had to!!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 27/11/2015 17:26

Yeah beaut it's a bit of both - worried I'll either be too big (38 weeks!) or baby will have arrived! We don't need to have a shotgun wedding as such so will prob wait. And yeah ffaux I am deffo going to be bf so will need to work around it. So long as I can hold baby during the vows will be fine. We're not having family there so haven't decided/worked out who will be our witnesses but prob won't have an extra pair of hands to hold the baby!

I really can't be arsed with black Friday this year, mostly as can't be bothered to look through the deals! And I don't get paid till Monday anyway. Although having said that there are still deals on Monday I think so may have a little look see then...

Paperblank · 27/11/2015 17:34

Marmite I did pretty much the same as Ffaux: registry office one week (with a handful of people) and then our "wedding" (humanist celebrant) a week later with a huge party after. Looking back I'd have been just as happy with the register office do!

In other news I am currently laid up in hospital. The dreaded sciatica is back and they are checking to see if I have a slipped disc Sad

Am feeling very sorry for myself and just waiting for the next lot of funky drugs to take the pain away. I've sent DH home to get some bits...we were only talking the other day about when I would pack a bag. I wish I'd done it there and then.

ffauxlivia · 27/11/2015 17:56

marmite Monday is Cyber Monday so there should be online deals haha! I must admit I do feel a bit guilty contributing to the consumerist culture of Black Friday - but I have known I wanted that pushchair for a while and it was pretty much half price so gave in! There are deals all year round though - I'm hoping for good January sales for everything else

oh paper thats' horrible. Crossing everything it's not a slipped disc and they can help control pain for you

pug ah that's so lovely!! My DH is like yours so when he does once in a blue moon come out with something like that it floors me. Aww :)

TheMshipIsBack · 27/11/2015 19:34

Yay shopping! Grin I just scored the Britax Evolva 123 Plus for £85. Feeling quite chuffed. Will try one out at Mothercare tomorrow in both ours and grandparents' cars to be sure, but they're both on the fitting list so it should be fine.

paper hope you're feeling better soon - sciatica sucks.

gemsparkle84 · 27/11/2015 20:05

Congrats to all the shooters getting great bargains!!!

Paper sorry your sciatica is so bad. What scabs are they doing to determine whether or not you have slipped a disc? I am having terrible back trouble. It's pre pregnancy but seems to be starting to get worse. Mine is right low down into my coccyx and sacrum. It's grinding when I walk!!! I'm so glad yours is getting properly looked at. Keep us updated on your progress xx

dobbythedoggy · 27/11/2015 20:20

Noticed the sleepy head is due to come up on amazon's lightening deals tomorrow morning if anyone is intrested. Brought a couple of christmas presents from flicking through today, dvds that dh always deems to expensive to buy for himself and cufflinks for my dad. Keep looking though to see if anything grabs my fancy or if the stroller I love (mama and papas armadillo city) magically gets reduced to a grab it now price. We really can't justify so much on occational pram but it seems to tick all the boxes, bil said he'll buy a new stroller if us, but as dh has him spending so much on fixing up their pool table, it feels really cheeky to ask for something 190 when it will be used once or twice a week.

Dd has threadworms, the joys of motherhood! Had to brave the gridlocked maddness of our town to get to the chemist. Dd took it like a champ once granddad produced a pink doughnut as bribe. Dh on the other hand may have to be pinned down and forced to take a dose. The pharmacist wasn't sure about selling it to me due to bump, despite saying I knew I couldn't take anything.

paper hope you're feeling better soon!

Paperblank · 27/11/2015 20:46

Soooo...I have a slipped disc.

MRI showed up that the L5 disc is the one that's slipped Sad At some point I might need surgery but for now it's grin and bear it.

Scan was pretty horrible, very noisy and very claustrophobic - the baby was going bananas throughout the whole thing. Have heard the baby's heartbeat a couple of times today and they are happy that the baby is fine. As per normal it is being a monkey and hiding so it took the midwife a little while to find it initially.

Looks as though they might let me go home tomorrow (fingers, toes and eyes crossed) on the understanding I rest up. No overdoing it!

Safe to say I ain't gonna be doing back flips anytime soon.

Oh no Paper. Back problems are the worst. Presume you'll be off work for a while? Take care of yourself.

gemsparkle84 · 27/11/2015 22:16

Oh no paper... Take care of yourself and yes don't be doing any cartwheels xxx

IndomitabIe · 28/11/2015 00:11

Oh no Paper, I remember my mum slipped a disc when we were young. She was pretty much completely incapacitated. Rest up good!

Paperblank · 28/11/2015 11:34

Hello from labour ward (don't panic!!! Not in labour!)

I'm being let out later today wheeeeee Grin BUT...I must behave, I must not lift anything, move anything, do anything and I have had to promise that at the first sign of anymore pain I come straight back to hospital.

I hadn't even thought about being off work - I suppose I will be though, I will see what the dr recommends. The thing is apart from the pain I'm okay, so I feel a bit of a fraud (stupid I know)

Am definitely going to get my hospital bag sorted now, and I know now that I'll be on at least 24 hrs after the baby is born, if you're diabetic or have GD they will check the baby's sugar levels for 24 hrs.

All in all an eventful 24 hours!!

Wow paper, sounds full on. Great that you're getting out today!!

I've finally started on a huge tidy out and clean, and it feels amazing. I've been meaning to do it for weeks but haven't had energy, we live in a tiny flat so stuff gets on top of us easily, then it's impossible to put away or clean properly. Under the bed was proper disgusting - the cat hides under there so right in the middle the carpet was actually black with fur! I'm forcing myself to stop for regular breaks, it's very testing as I just want to make the most of this enthusiasm and get on with it!!! I know I'd pay for it later.

Think this is the closest I've ever come to nesting - long may it continue!

Missikat · 28/11/2015 14:08

Hi ladies, hope you're all well. So I've been MIA this last couple of days as Flump has arrived!

It's been pretty crazy and I will come on a bit later to share my birth story with you (if you're interested in hearing it) but so far so good.

Flump is a........boy! So DS no 2 for us. He was born yesterday, 27th Nov, at 2.44am weighing 800g (1lb 12oz I think) which is a pretty good weight for 25+4. He is so far doing well but we've had to be transferred from Nottingham to Coventry as there were no neonatal beds available in the hospital he was born in, or the other Nottingham hospital or any of the other nearer ones. It's been a bit of a whirlwind 36 hours but at least he is alive and stable so far. Thanks so much for all your thoughts and positivity, I'm sure it helped keep him in those extra vital two weeks. He doesn't have a name yet but as soon as he does I'll let you know!

Ffaux, great choice on the BJCM, we have the XT version for DS1 (bit heavier than standard version but has bigger off-road tyres). The one handed fold is amazing and it's so manoeuvrable. You won't regret buying it.

Paper sorry to hear about your disk, that must be awful while pregnant, make sure you rest up.

Beautiful, hope all is going ok with DH. With regard to the carpets I wouldn't replace in a rented place but thats just me, hate giving extra to landlords who already make too much from you!

IndomitabIe · 28/11/2015 14:25

Missi! Congratulations on Flump's arrival! So glad to hear he's stable. It's a shame you've had to be moved but I'm glad you're somewhere where he can be looked after properly.

Would love to hear your birth story, when you're ready.

Sending positivity/ good vibes/thoughts your way for you both. I'm sorry your pregnancy didn't go to plan. You did so well though. It's such a tough time. ThanksThanksThanksChocolate

Paper, glad you're heading home. Don't even think about going to work!

In rather more mundane... well, not even news. DS is being a proper arse today. But, he's currently crashed out in the car with me while DH shops for plumbing parts (think I'm not doing to badly here, MNing on the store wifi from the car!). Hopefully he'll have dropped the perma-whine when he wakes up.

I went out last night. Just for dinner with friends. It was lovely! I had a nap before I went but I am totally wiped out today!

(Very glad to have The Floater still in and kicking away though!)

MyNameIsSuz · 28/11/2015 14:35

Wow, missi, congratulations!!! Great news that he's stable. How are you feeling? Are they keeping you in or are you able to go up to the other hospital with him?

magpiedreams · 28/11/2015 14:37

Welcome to the world Flump, can't wait to hear all about your arrival and your progress. You have us all cheering you on from the cyber sidelines. Hope you're ok missi

Look after yourself paper, sounds horrible, don't feel you're a fraud! You are number one and should let everyone run about after you and get your feet up.

Hi to everyone else, hope you're all having good weekends x x
