Rhubarb I used the Maggie Howells natal hypnotherapy Effective Birth Preparation cd last time (£11.99!). It didn't make it pain-free or anything, but I was worried about panicking, and I'm sure the CD helped me stay calm throughout. There are others on that website, maybe I should have bought the more expensive one!

I definitely recommend it!

marmite we're planning on doing the same! 'Dumping' DS with the grandparents and going to the IMAX!

Regarding the teething - would you be open to giving a calpol dose before she goes to bed, or at the first wake-up. You might avoid a second one. DS often gets achey feet (borderline hypermobility) and if he wakes up with it once (screeching) he'll likely wake up again. The consultant suggested we anticipate things if he's had an active day and dose him before bed (we haven't yet, as it's not that predictable, but we have started giving him calpol or nurofen if he does wake up). Although, I'm now at the parenting point of "sleep at any cost"!

Maybe you should look at the Antalya hypnotherapy too Beautiful?!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 17/12/2015 17:24

indom we are already giving DD calpol/child ibuprofen before bed at the moment, and then sometimes when she wakes up we alternate and give her calpol/ibuprofen depending on what we gave at bed time Blush

in fact DD absolute loves medicine - she is a bit of a freak child in that way - and has been asking for it before bed! she's also got a nasty cold at the moment and has been asking for nose drops and vapour rub before bed as well!

good luck with your scan tomorrow beaut - hope it gives you more info on what's wrong/what can be done...

IndomitabIe · 17/12/2015 17:43

Oh no, and you're still being woken up?! Even more sympathy!

DS is the same, constantly wants medicine & plasters. Shame he's usually pretty healthy!

MyNameIsSuz · 17/12/2015 18:25

My boy's the same, would do anything for 'magic medicine'!

Trinpy · 17/12/2015 18:55

marmite We're also hoping its the secondary molars coming through! It would be lovely to get the last of the teething out of the way, and a few months break, before starting all over again with the next baby. It sounds like thats whats happening with your dd.

I have a book still from when I was pregnant last time that has lots of hypnobirthing-style techniques for managing pain during labour. Its called Juju Sundin's Birth Skills. If anyone wants it let me know and I will put it in the post.

MyNameIsSuz · 17/12/2015 19:53

Urgh... next door neighbour is having a party, and people keep ringing our door number by mistake! It's really loud and ds is still awake Sad.

IndomitabIe · 17/12/2015 21:22

On no Suz, how antisocial! It's midweek still too (DS still has school tomorrow).

I'm having a "glass of wine" (sipping a cm from the bottom of a small glass)! Grin Had to share! I'm sipping it so slowly, I'm enjoying it so much!

Me624 · 17/12/2015 23:03

Star Wars was great Grin you're in for a treat marmite

Missikat · 17/12/2015 23:32

Rhubarb, I used the maggie Howell one too with DS1 and thought it was really good. Like Indom, it didn't make it pain free but definitely stopped me panicking and helped me to make to 8cm on my own at home with only the tens machine.

Marmite, my DS1 is another medicine freak. He's had a bit of a cough the last couple of days and is asking specifically for Calpol!

Beautiful, hope your scan tomorrow goes ok and baby is looking like they are growing ok. It must be really disappointing to have to have a hospital birth but hopefully it won't be anytime soon and you will have plenty of time to get your head round it. I would recommend doing some kind of hypnotherapy practice too if you are feeling a bit phobic about it.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 18/12/2015 13:43

that's interesting trinpy I've recently bought the juju book on kindle! haven't had a chance to read it yet but going to crack on it over xmas. speaking of which, I'm off work today and only have monday and tuesday next week before 12 days off! can't wait!

DD slept through last night for the first time in two weeks which was awesome. unfortunately my stupid brain decided to wake me up at 5.45am - she didn't wake up till half 6. so annoying! I can't complain though as I do feel so much better today.

hope your scan goes well today beaut

IndomitabIe · 18/12/2015 13:55

Glad you all slept marmite!

DH & DS are at school today but I've already finished! Had a really productive morning and ended up asleep on the sofa. Now my hair is defying gravity and I need to leave for DS's Carol service in 5 mins! Oops!

BeautifulLiar · 18/12/2015 14:57

Thanks marmite, I'm just in the waiting room.

Absolutely gutted with 'D'H. He was supposed to be coming with me but didn't get out of bed (night shifts, but we'd prearranged all this). Because he was tired (I'm assuming) he gave me a mouthful of abuse. His mum was downstairs too. I literally gave him about 5 chances, kept calling up saying "Are you coming or not?" He obviously doesn't give a shit. I cried nearly all the way here... so upset.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 18/12/2015 14:59

oh no beaut, sorry to hear he was being an arse Flowers

magpiedreams · 18/12/2015 15:42

beaut that sucks. Hoping your scan is more reassuring, or you at least fond out with a plan you're ok with x

Paperblank · 18/12/2015 17:46

Beautiful

How did your scan go? Sorry you've got a daft "D" H and hope you're okay x

Had my 28 growth scan yesterday - baby is breech but it's got ages yet to turn (I have everything crossed, I'd like to have a VB because it's likely that this one will be our only child), it's also got short legs and a fat belly. Poor little sausage, it takes after its mother!

Hope you all have a relaxing weekend before the madness descends next week.

Flowers for beautiful, I hope your scan went well.

IndomitabIe · 18/12/2015 17:52

Oh Beautiful, sorry your 'D'H was being an arse.

Hope the scan went well.

Paper, you don't really say but I hope I'm right to say that I'm glad your scan went well.

TheMshipIsBack · 18/12/2015 18:23

Paper that must have been lovely to see your baby again. Lots of time to turn! Some of them even do it when you're in labour, the little monkeys.

Beautiful I hope the scan was good news, so sorry your husband was being a pain. That's really not on.

TriJo · 18/12/2015 18:38

crankyface at my hospital - letter arrives today asking me to go for a repeat urine sample. Antenatal clinic is open 9-4 Monday to Friday. Letter arrives 5pm on Friday when I'm leaving at 9 tomorrow morning to head back to Ireland for Christmas. Feck sake.

MrsBenWyatt · 18/12/2015 19:22

Hello, all. I was on this thread a while back under a different name (Adora). Work has been hectic but now that my school has broken up, I am free for two weeks! Xmas Grin

Beautiful I am so sorry to hear about your home birth plans being scuppered. Have you been started on aspirin to improve blood flow to the placenta?

I had my growth scan yesterday and DC3 is looking to be a big boy! I have another scan at 32 weeks in early January and then my pre-op assessment for my ELCS on 8th Feb. Although my EDD is 8th March, it looks like this will be a February baby as they will likely perform section at 38/39 weeks at latest.

neh205 · 18/12/2015 20:48

Big hugs beautiful have you spoken to him since? He's got some making up to do methinks!

trijo typical timing! Hope you have a lovely time in Ireland.

Welcome mrsben hope you've got a nice break planbed.

Happy weekend everyone! I'm liking forward to the rest!

Paperblank · 18/12/2015 21:23

Hello Smile baby is absolutely fine just got to go for 4 weekly growth scans because of T2 Diabetes.

It's lovely to see the baby, and we get to see it again on 14th Jan and 11th Feb and we'll find out on 11th the induction/c section date!

Missdee2014 · 19/12/2015 01:16

Hope all are well. Been so busy lately, will catch up properly soon.

Had my 28 week growth scan today and baby is breech Sad Hoping he turns soon cos the thought of a section terrifies the life out of me. I'd rather give birth naturally 10 times over than have a section. Otherwise, all great with baby. Weighing approximately 2.4lb so just below the average line on the growth chart Grin No pic unfortunately but we get to see him again at 32 and 36 weeks.

Missikat · 19/12/2015 05:18

Beautiful, thinking of you and hoping your scan went ok (and that you got an apology from DH).

Paper and Missdee, there's still lots of time for babies to turn so I wouldn't worry too much yet. Great news babes are looking ok though.

I can't believe Christmas is so close. Our plans have totally changed as we had planned to be in Devon with my family whereas we are obviously now staying near to Zach so we can go to see him on Christmas Day. It'll be really strange being just me, DH and DS. I've never not spent the day with either mine or DHs family before, it's going to be really quiet!

I've So much to do in the next week as haven't even unpacked all my things from hospital yet! The mountains of washing are growing everywhere and I really need to sort my wardrobes out as they are just full of maternity gear, none of which is pumping/skin to skin friendly, but equally hardly any of my prepreg clothes fit anymore...very frustrating! I'd forgotten how annoying it was with DS when breastfeeding to have barely any clothes again that fitted and were suitable for nursing....you ladies that plan to breastfeed have it all to come!

docmcstuffins1 · 19/12/2015 08:45

Beautiful hope you scan went ok. I'd be furious with my DH too if he pulled that stunt... In fact I was fuming in your behalf when I read your post. Hope you've made up now.

Missi I hadn't even thought about the clothing situation once the baby is out, I can only imagine how frustrating it is/will be! Glad Zach is doing well, and your first Christmas with him will be a special one.

My bump seems to have had a growth spurt again. Was measuring 29 weeks at my last appointment (but I was 28+5 at the time) so not larger than it should be but seems to sit low and forward when I'm standing. I feel massive - I can't get any bigger over the next 11 weeks.... Can I? Hmm

Hope everyone has a nice weekend planned. I'm out with some close friends tonight for dinner, then another friends tomorrow for coffee and mince pies. Otherwise just a bit more wrapping presents to do. Only 3 days at work tomorrow then a 5 day weekend - Yipee Grin
