I've got my 28 week appointment on Wednesday! I'm 28+3 today. My kicks are all still very low so I'm pretty sure my baby hasn't turned round yet.

marmite I'm very near you (giving birth at RBH) but my doctor's surgery falls under a different trust (Frimley) and I wonder if that makes a difference? I've been lucky to have the same midwife every time, there is a team of community midwives and each one covers a different surgery. It means there's not a lot of flexibility as they only offer appointments on one day of the week but I'm glad it means I see the same one every time. She will also do all my home visits if I go overdue and afterwards.

Yours today doesn't sound like she has very good soft skills! What my midwife has told me is that I will need to go to my local walk in centre to have my bloods taken after my next appointment and she will give me a form which I give them and then that gets sent off to RBH with the bloods. Not sure again though if you will be different because you do fall directly under Reading.

Rosieblossom123 · 14/12/2015 12:37

You girls aren't that far from me, I'm giving birth at North Hampshire Hospital!

MyNameIsSuz · 14/12/2015 12:41

Ooh marmite and me, I'm not very far from you either! I'm just on the Oxfordshire/Berkshire border, so due to give birth at the JR in Oxford.

Me624 · 14/12/2015 13:07

How funny that we're all so close! I had a sort of vague feeling of who on the thread was north and who was south but didn't realise we were so nearby!

marmite I meant to add that my 28 week bloods process is exactly the same as I had to do for my booking in bloods. So I would think that whatever you did for those, you will do again for your 28 week ones.

BeautifulLiar · 14/12/2015 13:11

Haha thanks Rosie!

Just had 28 week appointment, she thinks I'm measuring 25 weeks and wants me to be scanned...

Rosieblossom123 · 14/12/2015 14:09

Beautiful when I went to the day assessment unit last week they said my belly was measuring over even though at my 25 week appointment I was 3 cm under so they referred me for a growth scan and baby was spot on and she weighs 2lb 2oz so I wouldn't worry too much hun! Can't wait to see what they say today!

ffauxlivia · 14/12/2015 15:17

Happy belated anniversary beautiful! Hope you had a lovely time :) Aren't you and all your babies small? I'm sure it will be fine and it's nice you get to see your little pumpkin again. neh hope you're feeling better

We had some sad news at the weekend as my DH's cousin died unexpectedly. It's really made me savour just lying down quietly and feeling baby's kicks to remind me about how amazing it is to have new life inside me. Just feel so bad for him as he's lost 3 extended family members this year and is really stressed at work as well.

I have a scan tomorrow to check on the calcium spot on baby's heart and my low-lying placenta - so nervous! Just want to come out of a scan with the all clear for once and finally start relaxing.

We don't even have midwives at my practice here - feels a bit weird but I get to see my OB at every visit and am so comfortable with him as he did my endo surgery and is very caring, kind of have a mild crush on him tbh and really trust him so I don't feel I miss out. Occasionally I get to see a nurse too and will be with labour nurses at the hospital, then an OB delivers, hopefully mine but if not someone else from the same practice.

The only thing is the US is a lot more interventionist with higher incidences of C-sections and epidurals than home, but I think if I'm clear about what I want then they respect wishes, as there is a big momentum for more natural birthing methods at the moment and my practice seems quite forward thinking. Being an older FTM though I'm just happy to trust the doctors mainly!

Hi Ladies,

I have to say my midwife has been fab. Nothing is too much trouble, no question too difficult. I've been seeing her regularly since my 16 week appointment. When she measured my bump at 28 week appointment she felt baby and said she was breech. I kind of had an inkling as I always get kicks low down and rarely above my belly button. She said shes got lots of time to turn around but says she would like her to be head down by 34 weeks (I think) and then went through the options if she's still breech. For some reason my baby loves being down low. My appointment was last week and shes still super low so we shall see. Has anyone else had this at their recent appointments?

Ffaux sorry to hear about your DH cousin, I know anytime is terrible but like you say with the stress of losing other loved ones it must be even harder. I hope he can get some much needed rest over the festive period. Good luck with your scan tomorrow... I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

BeautifulLiar · 14/12/2015 17:23

Thanks Rosie and ffaux. I'm not too worried - well remembered ffaux; I'm 5ft and biggest baby was 6lb! They've been very good though and have got me in for a scan in the hospital round the corner on Wednesday morning. Will be good to see her!

BeautifulLiar · 14/12/2015 17:24

And sorry, good luck for tomorrow! Xx

Trinpy · 14/12/2015 17:33

That mw doesn't sound very tactful marmite! I would be furious if any hcp dared to mention my (many) stretchmarks...

Hope the scan goes ok Beautiful. I bet your baby girl is just very petite Smile.

I'm having a 3D scan tomorrow! We had one with ds so we were planning to do the same with this baby but I completely forgot about it until dh mentioned it this afternoon. Tomorrow is the only day we could get an appointment when we are both off work. I'm so excited I'm going to see him again Grin.

Paperblank · 14/12/2015 18:11

Ffaux sorry to hear about your DH's cousin Flowers whenever you lose someone it us hard, but this time of year it always seems that little bit harder.

Beautiful belated happy anniversary - and I love your bump pic Smile so lovely x

Another Home Counties girl here, I'm in Bucks, so having the baby at Stoke Mandeville!

Sorry to hear about your difficult day marmite. I know exactly what you mean about finding yourself being the type of parent you're desperately trying to avoid, but we all do it, that's life. I expect the people you've witnessed being shouty etc didn't set out to be like that either. But sometimes that's how it is. I am that parent, sadly

Wow that appointment does sound terrible. I'd be tempted to see if there's another mw to switch to, you kind of need to be able to trust a midwife, and I'm not sure I trust that one, let alone you!
maybe, I haven't seen my Named Midwife again yet, and she's due to retire soon anyway, so probably won't. Must remember to ask who to expect next time. The only person I've seen twice was Aaron the Sonographer! I was a bit sad after our 20 week scan!

TriJo there'll be plenty of getting-off-the-sofa in the spring! Enjoy the sofa time while you still can! (But yeah, probably the iron!)

I commend your sleep skills, vroc!

Wow you're organised, Rosie! (I've got so much to do!)

Ah, Beautiful, that'll be your abs of steel! I'm sure everything will be fine and you'll get another opportunity for a peek!

Oh, sorry to hear that Ffaux. Hugs for you and your DH. Hoping your scan is all clear too - a friend had something similar with her DC2, all was perfectly well in the end.

gem I don't know officially but this one always feels very low. Lots of kicks right down in my pelvis. Feels like he's still transverse quite a lot too.

Sounds exciting, Trinpy! I hope you'll share the pics! (Though, you're under no obligation, of course - I'm just nosey!)

I've still got this ridiculous cough. The pelvic floor is holding up admirably but coughing makes my head hurt! And it's just so annoying (and exhausting)! I keep thinking of all the things I could take for it, if I wasn't pregnant. Angry

My 28wk appt isn't till between Xmas and new year. They haven't mentioned anything about bloods, though I think last time they did it there and then. I didn't have booking bloods, only done at the Big Hospital at 12 week scan.

Think I've been feeling some hiccups. Which is novel!

neh205 · 14/12/2015 20:00

Thanks all, feeling a bit better now.

paper I've just moved hospitals was meant to be at watford but now at Stoke mandiville! I'm SO glad I've switched just wish I had done so earlier. Midwife for Stoke much more thorough. Also I've repeatedly stressed that my mum had severe pre eclampsia, was in hospital for much of her pregnancy and I was born 4 weeks early. None of the watford midwives batted an eye lid and just said every pregnancy is different but the stoke midwife said ideally I should have been on a dose of aspirin a day from start of pregnancy to help reduce risks. Really pissed off about this and also worried of course but at least I can star on them now :p

marmite that's so insensitive hope you get someone else next time.

ffaux all fingers crossed for you & sorry to hear sad news.

imdom hope you feel better soon.

Good luck to everyone who has 28 week appointments coming up. Can't believe we are so far along!

ginger & missi how are you both doing?

scaredmum2be · 14/12/2015 20:05

Hi ladies.
Just to say this is ginerlady123 here. Logged my self out of mumsnet the other day and had completely forgotten my password and e-mail address I had used so had to make a new account. Will catch up soon.

Trinpy · 14/12/2015 20:46

Ginger!!! Good to see you back Smile. I was wondering what had happened to you!

Indom Aaron did my 20 week scan too. I was very impressed with how much detail he went into, I don't think any of the other sonagraphers I've seen have explained everything they're looking at like that. You were lucky to have him for 2 scans.

Paperblank · 14/12/2015 21:48

Neh the MW are lovely both in the annexe and the ward. I'm really happy with how they've looked after me so far.

Ginger it is good to see you back Smile how are you feeling?

I'm another one hoping to see Trinpy's pictures! I've got a 28 week growth scan on Thursday and my mum's coming with me. Would you ask for a pic so DH can see the baby or do you think they wouldn't let me have one?

My DSIS has given me a ton more stuff for the baby - I've got more sleep suits than mothercare as her DS was a chunky little monkey and didn't fit into any newborn stuff and went straight in at 0-3 months - he was only in those a couple of weeks.

Bizarrely I can't wait to wash and lovingly iron everything (only once mind you!) and lay it out in the baby's drawers.

Morning all - glad I'm not the only one who thinks it was off that the midwife commented on my stretch marks!

Another rough night with DD - DP was up with her from 1.30 and I went down at 2.30. Didn't get back into bed until 4am Sad she was at her grandmas yday and ate absolutely nothing except weetabix for breakfast and apparently a croissant in the afternoon, all she wanted was milk. Then refused dinner at home. So maybe its teeth or who knows but I'm shattered today. She was up at 5.30 but DP let me sleep in until 7 thankfully. Got a lot of work to do today and my brain is mush Sad early night for me and DP tonight! At least our carpet is getting fitted today so we can sleep in our king size bed instead of the tiny double in the spare room!

Whatapavlova · 15/12/2015 09:05

Hello everyone,

I've been quietly lurking for ages now but thought I'd say hello! I'm 25 + 1 so only just a March baby but it's nice to know what's coming from other posters! Did anyone have a return of morning sickness around this time? Breakfast is essentially pointless at the moment because it just makes a reappearance, am feeling quite rotten!

Hope everyone else getting on okay.

vroc81 · 15/12/2015 09:21

30 minutes into my GTT and I'm bored already despite a fire alarm and some fireman they laid on breifly for my entertainment... And why is internet so pants in hospital? I'm sat at the front door to barely maintain a signal, doesn't seem fair on all those people bored in bed in the rest of the building!

ffaux hope the scan goes ok today.

marmite I'd be complaining if anyone made a rude comment about my body I do feel that people seem to forget your a person when you pregnant and not just a carrying vessel!

hayleycookie · 15/12/2015 10:57

Vroc My GTT is on Monday. How was the drink? Was it as vile as they say?

vroc81 · 15/12/2015 11:16

hayley I think it depends where you are as to what they make you drink but it's no worse than a slightly over strong tropical squash.. And the blood lady stands over you rushing it down so they can get on to their next blood test so it's not a drink you linger over..

vroc81 · 15/12/2015 11:19

Also think about what you pack for a snack afterwards as I made the mistake of a cheese sandwich when I did this at ten weeks and the rush it gave me made me feel quite ill... I've gone for a cereal bar this time before I drive back to work and don't feel nearly so odd...

Trinpy · 15/12/2015 11:37

Hello whatapavlova - I haven't had any return of morning sickness (thank god), but I think remember a couple of people in this group saying that they did recently. I hope it goes away again quickly for you and you're not stuck with it in the 3rd trimester.

Paper I will definitely be uploading a picture later. The ones we had of ds were so detailed I actually 'recognised' him when he was born! It was very weird! They let me have a picture from my growth scan in my last pregnancy, though it might depend on how nice the sonagrapher is! Can't hurt to ask though.

Sorry to hear your dd had another bad night marmite. Its so hard when you can see they're not feeling 100% but you don't know how to make them better. I hope whatever it is settles down soon. Pregnancy and sleep deprivation is a horrible combination.

Are you out of the gtt now vroc? Mine is also on Monday haley. Dh has already had his instructions to get a full English breakfast ready for my return .

TheMshipIsBack · 15/12/2015 11:48

So just back from my 28w appointment, and everything seems fine, except, and this is quite worrying, I am measuring 34! Confused Midwife was really good and thorough, she's phoned in to book me an urgent scan. I'm to phone the ultrasound unit in a couple of hours to get the appointment date/time. It should be within the next few days. I'm a bit freaked out about this, tbh. I knew my bump was big, but didn't think it was that big!
