The other one is crap though :(

I was waiting until payday to get it, payday arrives and they only had it left in huge sizes. Curse my sensibleness.

Rosieblossom123 · 02/12/2015 16:59

I know it's a bit cheesy the other one :( I was literally looking everywhere and there was nothing and randomly found it on Mothercare but after I bought it, it sold out!

Rosieblossom123 · 02/12/2015 17:02

Oh by the way Tri mine is medium and just about fits, I'm a size 10 so I thought it would be huge but it really isn't, If it does come back in stock a large would probably be ideal.

MyNameIsSuz · 02/12/2015 17:03

I think I saw a similar one on the Next website trijo. I got a gorgeous one from h and m, just tried to find it on the website but it's not coming up - I think their mobile site doesn't show you everything. I may take you a picture!

MyNameIsSuz · 02/12/2015 17:07

Here - it's spangly!!!

Aww gutted!!

Ermmm so the decorator just had a quick look at the job then said he'd send me a quote in the post :( is that normal?! I wanna know damn it! Got a female painter coming to look tomorrow so hopefully she's cool :)

ThePug · 02/12/2015 17:08

Cute jumper Rosie ! I've ordered this one from H&M as it's a bit Christmassy -

Glad the radiators are done marmite - mine's being done on Tuesday next week. In the SW and it's only half a day's work (prob 3 hours) which is why I thought the quote was steep, but was cheaper of the two so have just gone with it to get it done before all the nursery furniture gets delivered to that room the following day. DH is off work for Christmas from 11th Dec so going to get him to assemble everything - can't wait to see it up!

I definitely don't have the nesting bug in a cleaning-way though Blush Maybe something weird will happen to me nearer due date and I'll decide I like cleaning!

Had a completely rubbish start to today; had to catch a 7.15 train to London this morning. Didn't fancy the 20 min walk to the station in the dark so booked a taxi last night to pick me up (takes 5 mins in car). Taxi never showed up, so I set off running there. Got to the platform just as the whistle was being blown and the doors were locked. I may have played the with the " but I'm 6 months pregnant and just run 15 minutes" card with the station manager but he said there was nothing he could do, but did say I could use my train-specific ticket on the next one. I then took myself off to a bench at the end of the platform and burst into tears Blush A few mins later along came the guy and wrote me a complimentary First Class ticket to make sure I got a seat, which was lovely. I'm still absolutely fuming with the taxi company though Angry Luckily my work meetings didn't take as long as I thought so managed to catch a train an hour earlier home (paid £10 to change the ticket though) so I'm now home.

MyNameIsSuz · 02/12/2015 17:09

And you can't really tell, but it's a maternity one, nice and fitted with ruched sides. Not too thick either - I always overheat in Christmas jumpers. Getting its first outing this weekend!!

Rosieblossom123 · 02/12/2015 17:09

Suz that's super cute :)

Rosieblossom123 · 02/12/2015 17:13

Thanks Pug sorry that you had a rubbish start to the day but at least you eventually got a seat and you're finally home! 18 mins to go!!

ThePug · 02/12/2015 17:14

suz that's the one I've ordered!

Beautiful - yes, I'd say that was standard practice to get a written quote. Ask if they can email it though as that'll save a couple of days.

MyNameIsSuz · 02/12/2015 17:18

Excellent choice Pug! Grin Sorry you had a rubbish morning, I'd have cried too. I'm getting a 7.12 train tomorrow too for work and dreading it, station is a 25 minute drive away so I'll need to leave super early. But it's my last trip out of the office before maternity leave, so tomorrow evening I'll be buzzing I'm sure!

Crispylicious · 02/12/2015 17:25

I really WANT that jumper Rosie! Probably a good thing it's not in stock, as I doubt I'd get the wear out of it, but it's sooooo cute Will just have to wear my Xmas cardie instead.

trijo I've had random pelvis aches this week too, only on walking. Hope it's not the start of spd.

Our hospital is 35 mins away and DH works about 2 hours away from our home! Eek. I think you normally get plenty of warning though and I labour slooooww tries to put out of mind the fact my friend gave birth in her car earlier this year

dobbythedoggy · 02/12/2015 17:28

I don't seem to have the energy for the nesting type activities I want to do. But do have a LONG list of things I want to get done. We've been wanting to paint the kitchen for a year, the paint is waiting but finding the time to do it seems to have been impossable. Dh and bil were going to do it one weekend this summer but I was feeling so ill they ended up on dd duty instead. Also waiting for the land lady to get someone in to plaster the living room cealing after she took down the tiles (fire hazzard), loads of our stuff is just in boxes as there's no point unpacking it only to have to put it away again. Although we're going to have to reclame the dining room before christmas day, we host my family as we've got the biggest place, so we've all got somewhere to sit!

Hopefully I'm on top of the christmas gifts, appart from the fact that I need to go shopping without dd to get her things. Ordered her much longed after santa gift this afternoon, barbie on a bike, so hopefully no last moment changes from her. Found out the presents I've been putting away since last christmas and wrapped what I have so far, dd loved helping so they look a bit hap hazzard, but atleast she's not opening anything she sees wrapped like ast year. Had a epic fail on amazon with a black friday deal, throught I'd ordered a pair of penguin cufflinks for my dad and actually ordered a large pair of ceramic penguins...

Dh is responsable for sorting out his dad and brothers. His meant to be making a gift for one of them. I wouldn't be suprised if there's nothing ready for them for christmas day.

Finding it so hard to sleep at the moment. Takes me forever to get comfortable. Serriously considering kicking dh out onto the sofa bed in his music room as he is incapable of coming to bed without sounding like a drunken herd of elephants. Then I'd only have to deal with dd disturbing me. Between the two of them my sleep is really broken. If I was just left in peace once I'm asleep it would be fine, but once I've been woken up I have to use the toilet and then bump's wriggling around or not which makes me worry and I find it hard to settle down again. Hope that it rings true again that it's eaiser to get back to sleep after night feeds when you're not growing a new human!

Rosieblossom123 · 02/12/2015 17:28

Crispy thanks hun :) I think that's exactly what i'll be doing, might even sleep in it Blush

MyNameIsSuz · 02/12/2015 17:30

I'm 40 minutes from hospital too, over an hour in bad traffic. My labour was pretty quick too and they say it halves each time. I do have a MLU round the corner though, just put off at the thought of how long it would be if they had to transfer me. I'd much rather go to the MLU on the top floor of the hospital as the transfer wouldn't be difficult. Think I'll ask the midwife if I can go in as soon as I'm in labour and not be sent home, if not it's going to have to be the local one and crossed fingers!

ffauxlivia · 02/12/2015 17:40

wow love the jumpers suz and rosie! Kind of gutted they don't make as much of Christmas over here in the States - no christmas jumpers, no secret santa, no mince pies etc.

Have been invited to my friend's parents for christmas dinner but they do it Christmas Eve night, and they have decided to do East Indian food! I mean I LOVE that kind of food but was kind of looking forward to a Christmas dinner! Ironically normally I'm not that into it when I'm at home ha! So we're gonna have to make some mince pies and get into the spirit when we're alone on Christmas day. At least there will probably be lots of snow!

You guys I feel so behind all of you - no nesting, no Christmas shopping, hardly any baby shopping yet! I guess because I'm due end of March I keep telling myself I have more time than you guys, but I know you can't expect it all to work out like that!!

Hope ginger is okay and that little Zach is making good progress missi Hope everyone else getting sleep problems and pain and colds etc gets better soon! Feeling quite lucky that feel totally great at the moment, have probably jinxed myself now

ffauxlivia · 02/12/2015 17:49

beautiful I've had people who have posted quotes through the door before - that's the old school way! The more modern thinking (or less formal ones) have texted me quotes - you could always the lady painter to do that :)

Me624 · 02/12/2015 18:46

I've got a Christmas long sleeved t-shirt this year with a Santa hat above the bump! I have a couple of Christmas jumpers from last year too that still fit, they weren't too fitted in the first place so can still get away them them! I love Christmas, we put our tree up at the weekend despite it still being November!

Dh and I live about 20 mins from the hospital in no traffic or 40+ in traffic. We seem to have a good deal though in that parking is free for women in labour and their partners at our hospital! I'm a bit worried though about dh as like others he can be pretty far away for work - he goes abroad at least once a month so obviously he won't do that near my due date but other days he can regularly be up to 2 hours drive away. It's so difficult when you just have no idea when the baby is going to come! He can work from home sometimes but he can't say he's going to work from home for an entire 4 week period!

BeautifulLiar · 02/12/2015 18:54

Thanks ffaux - I hope he did mean he'll just literally pop it through the letterbox, rather than actually posting it! Will ask tomorrow, thanks :)

I bought all my Christmas stuff 2 months ago, I just can't help it, I don't have any other family to buy for and I LOVE buying for the kids!

ThePug · 02/12/2015 18:59

Me WHERE is that t-shirt from? It sounds amazing!!

IndomitabIe · 02/12/2015 19:37

Evening all,

Rosie I wouldn't, and didn't, get a cot bumper. They're questionable in terms of air flow, and really only a visual benefit for parents. I don't remember DS having any issues bumping himself on the bars (though he would have used it as a step out of the cot by 18 months!).

Epic jumper, Rosie!

Sympathy for your poor pelvis, TriJo.

I'm with Suz on the hospital bag amendments. Also add a ton of chocolate/snacks, I was so so starving last time! I think I might get some of those water wipes for hospital, are they actually just water? Part of me says 'stuff it, just use wipes' but the other part of me is desperate to make sure his skin is well colonised by 'good' bacteria!

Love your jumper too, Suz! Love a bit of sparkle!

Ooh, the spray bottle is a great idea TheMship!

Oh, ThePug! You poor thing! I'd have reacted the same way! Glad you got the first class ticket. Make sure you really clearly explain the issue to the taxi company.

Lol at the penguin mix-up, dobby! Not very helpful, sorry!

How odd, ffaux, I'd always thought they'd go all-out. I can see why you'd want a British Christmas more than ever.

I haven't done any nesting or buying (bar some sleepsuits) either!

DH is griping that he's got no money (after bills, I should point out, thankfully). I have resisted the urge to point out that that's what you get if you take 2 days unpaid to go to an event, but a new car and a new bike in the same month. He's moaning about the childcare cost too. Maybe this is why I was happy to drive a 20 year old car and not buy big expensive things?!

So, looks like I'll be paying for his Xmas presents and subsidising him this month. Though I am about to deliver him his ceramic travel mug to remind him he can't be buying a costa every day after work. Muppet.

Also, The Wriggler is having one of those quiet days many of you have experienced. I have had little kicks throughout the day, and one just then, so I know he's still in there. But haven't had the 'normal' level today.

Me624 · 02/12/2015 20:26

Pug this is where I got the t shirt from - they have absolutely loads to choose from!

QforCucumber · 02/12/2015 20:48

Ooo indom I'd want to throttle him, as it stands dp and I just had a proper row over him seeming to think that as soon as I go into labour he's going to teXT his mum so she can be there too, he also seems to think his dad and brother are going to be there waiting outside like something from a 50's movie.
I told him in no uncertain terms he's got no fucking chance! My own mother isn't going to be there ill be dammed if his whole family are seeing me im such a state - says I'm being selfish and a dick about it. Oooo mad.

IndomitabIe · 02/12/2015 21:19

Thanks Q. There's no point in starting an argument about it. I asked him so many times before if he was sure he could afford it. He was sure...! I'll just have very little sympathy for him for the next month!

The important thing is that the bills are covered, the childcare is covered, it's just his lifestyle that'll have to be reined in a bit. We are fine. I'm fine!

Jeez - you're not being unreasonable at all! I'd be exactly the same.

Having visitors afterwards at the hospital was amazing, though. They couldn't stay long, there was no expectation to 'host' them. And then they went away happy that they'd met the baby and left us to it. It helped that I was kept in for 2 nights - in that there was plenty of opportunity for visitors! Could you suggest this instead? You'll let them know when they're allowed to leave the house to visit?
