RE: Exercise - I got into running a couple of years ago and did the Bupa 10k in May this year. Then had surgery in July and have only been on a couple of runs since and none in this pregnancy. I'm feeling a bit down about my lack of fitness but i'm really nervous about doing more harm than good. I think I'll take up more regular swimming sessions instead.

I had a couple of scans in this pregnancy for medical reasons due to a previous ectopic. I can completely understand ladies going for private reassurance scans, with pregnancy tests giving you a BFP so early these days the 12 week scan is such a long wait!

JoMalones · 01/11/2015 10:56

I've always heard that you should be able to hold a conversation whilst exercising. When I run I tend to go at full pace so that's gone for me, will just do circuits when I've stopped being sick and without big weights.
Our local scan centre does training days - free scans!

emma85x · 01/11/2015 12:28

Thanks for the reply ladies. Glad it's not just me! Booking appointment on the 12th so hopefully she'll be able to let me know when my date is for my 12 week scan. Just had a real go at DH for no apparent reason. Feel bad now but too stubborn to apologise. Darn hormones! Smile MMMMMM.... The thought of ginger nut biscuits just popped into my head. I'm off to buy some Smile xxx

cautiousoptimist1 · 01/11/2015 13:54

I'm not having an early scan either. Mainly because I'm feeling ok and no pain or bleeding and I'd rather not take an appointment that could go to someone in need.

I have my 12 week scan date too so looking forward to 2nd December.

Osirus I have the same nausea which is fine once I've eaten. So I've figured out I need to eat approx every 2 hours! I can spread my lunch out though so eat my sandwich or whatever at 12 but start on my fruit at 9.

mrsmugoo · 01/11/2015 14:09

After 2 days of feeling fine and even having an appetite, I randomly just threw up this afternoon and feeling sick as a dog now. I'm trying out the wristbands...

carrie1008 · 01/11/2015 16:36

I'm having an early scan but only because of two previous mcs. So far we've only told my SIL so we have someone other than each other to talk to & we want confirmation before we share it with close family. Each to their own I guess but I certainly need some early reassurance that things are at least on track!

MollieRos · 01/11/2015 18:17

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear about everyone who's having a rough time with morning sickness.

I posted ages ago (possibly on the first June thread) but have just been lurking since- I've been dithering between this thread and the May babies one! I thought I was due right at the end of May but my early scan a couple of weeks ago put me back nearly a week to 4th of June so I think I'm better off on here if that's ok? I'm 33, live in Lancashire and this is my first pregnancy. I'm currently 9+1, struggling a bit with constant nausea and overwhelming tiredness, though happily not much actual vomiting so far (touch wood!)

obsessed1 · 01/11/2015 18:56

earlgrey my nausea has also disappeared today, and wasn't half as bad yesterday either which was lucky as I was at a wedding. I was delighted yesterday, and relieved, as I had been worried all week long that I wouldn't cope with the wedding, but was able to have a really good time. But today I'm starting to get a little anxious, as I mc around this point last time. Are there many others whose ms disappeared around the 7week mark? I'm hoping my body is getting used to the hormones? That's what I'm trying to tell myself... If all is really ok I want to be able to enjoy feeling a little more human again, and seems a pity to waste it worrying!!!

Rose2806 · 01/11/2015 19:12

Obsessed I'm exactly the same, approaching 7 weeks and my nausea has been much better for the last day and a half, was releaved as well as I had to be sociable this weekend but now also hoping the same thing as you about the hormones! Reassuring we aren't the only ones :-)

obsessed1 · 01/11/2015 19:23

Thanks for that rose, yes lets hope this is just a normal shift. Hey, in the next day or two we'll probably get another surge of hormones and feel like hell, so keep trying to remind myself to make the most of it!

Dirtycat · 01/11/2015 19:34

My symptoms are very hit and miss too. I'm 7w today and haven't been sick at all and have only had a couple of very minor bouts of nausea. My boobs even feel almost normal. All I've got to go on is the fact that I feel bloated - and I'm sure the chicken tikka masala and half tub of Ben and Jerrys accounts for that. It is unsettling, especially because I've spotted every day for the last two weeks. I'd much rather have my head down the loo.

Is anybody having the Harmony test at 10w? I don't know much about it and can't believe how much it costs! Any views?

MollieRos · 01/11/2015 19:47

Obsessed and Rose my symptoms were very low-level and came and went till about 8 weeks, then since then I've felt properly awful! I think the hormone levels must have just got high enough to make me feel consistently ill.

GuessHowMuchILoveGin · 01/11/2015 19:56

NHS standard Down's screening is free, done between 12 and 14 weeks and involves a blood test and part of the 12 week scan.

The Harmony test is new and thus expensive and mostly done privately. It only involves a blood test. It looks for Downs but also for rarer conditions also caused by having an extra chromosome. It is more sensitive than standard Downs screening.

Both types are only screening tests. They don't tell you if your baby actually has the condition. For that you have to have an amino or CVS but these are invasive tests (sticking a needle into the placenta or amniotic fluid) and they have a risk of miscarriage. As the Harmony is more sensitive, you are less likely to get a high risk result (and go for a more risky but definitive test) when your baby doesn't have the condition.

I'm not planning to have it, but that's because I don't think I could have a termination if I had a baby with the condition, so it would be a waste of money. I wouldn't judge anyone else for choosing not to continue with a pregnancy though. It is a very individual and personal decision.

earlgreydrinker · 01/11/2015 19:57

obsessed and rose my nausea is definitely back today. Feel hungover though obviously not!

Hi Mollie glad you joined us!

seven201 · 01/11/2015 20:56

I've just added myself to the spreadsheet, hope that's ok. I'm 7 weeks and had an early scan last week after cramps and bleeding and all was fine. I'm 33 and this will (fingers crossed) be our first.

I'm sorry if this is TMI but when I've wiped today it's sometimes been a bit pinky beige but pale. I'm trying not to worry and don't think i'll ring the GP or midwife unless it gets worse. I had no idea early pregnancy would be so bloody stressful and best soon slow!

Good luck to all those waiting on early scans etc.

seven201 · 01/11/2015 21:00

*feel sooo slow. Random autocorrect there!

I feel like I am eating for 5 and my waist lines looks like I am too. I don't want to go to work tomorrow - I just want to sleep forever.

BiffleRoo · 02/11/2015 07:50

Insomnia has well and truly set in here. Was still wide awake at 0300 and DS decided the day would start at 0530. The previous few nights haven't been much better. DH decided to start a fight with DD1 so she is now refusing to get dressed or leave her room. To top it all off I have the most horrific cramping. Just want to go back to bed but it's not an option. Sorry for the moany post.

bikingintherain · 02/11/2015 07:59

Hey ladies. I've had a crazy busy weekend but DH have a day off together today which is nice. I need to persuade him to take me out for cake or brunch!

We have a 9 week scan (as standard here) on Wednesday which I'm excited about but am really hoping everything is OK and also that they don't put my dates back too much!

I won't have any of the extra tests either by the NHS or harmony. I'm a low risk for them anyway and so I'd rather not have the stress of it.

bikingintherain · 02/11/2015 08:07

Oh biffle that doesn't sound much fun at all. Insomnia is so horrible and frustrating.

Mrspopper · 02/11/2015 08:41

About to go into my booking in appointment. Hoping I dont vom or cry. Both are likely!

bikingintherain · 02/11/2015 08:42

Good luck!

Rose2806 · 02/11/2015 09:48

Spoke too soon, I feel really sick again this morning!

nehagarg · 02/11/2015 10:28

Good luck Mrspopper

Welcome Mollie .. glad you joined us.

I've hit 10 weeks today and the nausea is finally beginning to wind down. Was actually able to cook dinner on Saturday and Sunday! Here's hoping my body is finally used to all those hormones swirling about! Booking appt this friday. Can't wait. Does anyone know what questions they ask about DH's side of the family? And do they ask about anyone except immediate family? He isnt very close to his so I am going to have to call them and ask what they do or do not have so want to be prepared.
