Clearly yesterday was a day of feeling sick, I was too especially in the evening. It's just so horrible wanting to sleep but not being able to and then if you do drift off waking up with a start because waves of nausea hitting you. Fingers crossed for us all to have a better day.

And good luck with the scan today violet

bikingintherain · 05/11/2015 06:04

Sorry biffle good luck with the scan today. Darn writing a message on your phone and not being able to check the thread for details.

All the best for your scan too violet when you actually have it!

Lovelybeano · 05/11/2015 06:35

Good luck to everyone having scans today xxxx

Hardly any sleep last night, bellys had another growth spurt so I'm presuming I just feel grotty when my hormones increase, which I can live with if I'm having a few days that I'm ok aswell xx
Hope everyone is feeling ok this morning :)

nehagarg · 05/11/2015 07:49

Good luck biffle

I've been awake since 5, mrsmugoo. Is this supposed to be practice for whats to come? Angry

I wish I'd start looking and feeling pregnant instead of fat soon. Got booking appt tomorrow and keep wondering if midwife will laugh and send me home and tell me to loose some weight. Sad

Nehagarg sorry to break it to you but nope, waking at 5 isn't a patch on what's to come! - that would be wake at 10, 12, 1, 2:30, 3:30 and 5 for the day sleeping approximately 45 minutes in between wakes (for about 5 months!) ConfusedWink

nehagarg · 05/11/2015 09:03

Lol. Absolutely. I was just wondering if this is nature's way of easing me into it. Grin

Thankfully though nausea eased up the day I hit 10 weeks. Hallelujah!

I agree with mrsmgoo! My DS only slep for half an hour at a time when he was three months old! And don't get me started on the cluster feeds no body warns you about.
Also the insomnia does tend to get worse towards the end of your pregnancy too :(

Ambergogo · 05/11/2015 09:30

My little boy will be 1 next month and our day starts at 5 every day ??. No idea how I am going to cope with him and a new born!

mrsmugoo · 05/11/2015 09:39

Wow you get up at 5am?! I have always been strict about not getting up until 7 with mine - he gets left in his cot until regardless of when he wakes. He just sings and plays with his soft toys now haha! Some are just early risers though aren't they?

Only teasing nehagarg ;) yes I do think pregnancy insomnia in some way prepares you for the broken sleep but enjoy your sleep now! Last night I was asleep from 9pm-3am then pretty much awake from then on. But at least I got a six hour stretch! Think it took about 6 months to get that luxury after having DS. In fact my sleep is "broken" since having a baby - I'm a light sleeper now, always awake by 6:30am of my own accord and rarely can sleep longer than 6-7 hours.

nehagarg · 05/11/2015 09:42

Whatever is cluster feeding? Shock

TattedPixie · 05/11/2015 09:42

Morning ladies. So looks like I have woken up with an eye infection, can hardly open my left eye so no work for me today. Kinda handy because I feel so run down. Think I might just curl up on the sofa and watch trashy daytime tv

nehagarg · 05/11/2015 09:44

Same here mrsmugoo .. In fact I was in bed from the moment I got home from work and was asleep by 9.

mrsmugoo · 05/11/2015 09:50

Cluster feeding is when newborns feed for several hours constantly - it's typically in the evening and night. They do it to get your milk supply going. It's exhausting but doesn't last too long.

nehagarg · 05/11/2015 09:51

Oooh, good to be warned!

Lellana · 05/11/2015 09:59

Is having cramps normal?!

nehagarg · 05/11/2015 10:01

If they are mild to moderate and not consistent over a period of hours, then yes, Lellana ... How far along are you? And have you had a scan yet?

OP posts:
nehagarg · 05/11/2015 10:01

Oh Tatted, that sounds horrible. Good that you get some down time at least.

OP posts:
BiffleRoo · 05/11/2015 10:02

DS starts out day anywhere between 5 and 6 and didn't sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time until he was 14 months Confused even now he has spells where he wakes every 1-2 hours through the night.

nehagarg · 05/11/2015 10:40

Sounds exhausting biffle

nehagarg - on the first night at home with DS he fed for 12 hours straight. I couldn't get him off the boob. I was thinking "what's wrong with my baby?!" and "I've ruined my life!!", the next day my milk came in and a check of my emails confirmed my NCT group were going through similar and it had a name - cluster feeding.
It is something that passes quickly though, like most things with babies!

Lellana · 05/11/2015 11:37

Nehaharg - I'm 8 weeks, no scan yet. I called the maternity helpline and I'm waitingbtonreceivebdeyails of my booking appt. with midwife. Not sure if I should have had one already as lots of girls on this thread seem to have had a scan. There's always something I'm worrying about. I'm hoping it's all ok as my boobs are so so sore, I feel nauseous most of the day and no bleeding....DH thinks I'm mental.

nehagarg · 05/11/2015 11:46

Lellana ... unless your cramps are severe or long lasting and only on one side, there isnt much to worry about. I know that's easier said than done Smile .. A lot of us have had early scans because of early bleeding but since you don't have that, that's good news

If you are concerned though, is there an EPU around you that you can self refer to? Or go through a GP maybe? Hugs! The first trimester is a real pain in the ass.

Gnomette .. I had no idea such a thing existed. Thanks everyone for the heads up.

TattedPixie · 05/11/2015 11:49

Lellana, I get cramps pretty much every day. I had a scan at 5+4 and everything was fine. It could be a period that is still in your uterus, like mine is. If you get shoulder pain as well, head to your doctor or EPU as it's a sign it could be ectopic. Hugs for you and hopefully everything is all good and little bean is happy

nehagarg · 05/11/2015 11:59

Found this ... I'll take that Epidural now please Grin
