Welcome dot' thrilled I have a due date buddy now! Grin

ginger, can't remember if you've spoken with your MW about your anxiety? You may have already but well worth it if not - there may be more help/support for you. Pregnancy is a tough time for those with health anxieties. In answer to the TMI question - yes I'm the same, horribly -ahem-damp. I was the same in other pregnancies also and went back to normal after.

dottiek · 08/11/2015 19:20

Thanks for the welcome Smile

I have been suprisingly well this pregnancy. I had nausea and lots of food aversions in the first trimester but no vomiting thankfully. Since then I have been back to normal. The first trimester was stressful as I bled for most of it and as I had an early miscarriage last year I was continually thinking I was going to lose this one too.

I had my 20 week scan and we are staying on Team Yellow. We didn't think for us finding out was the right thing so now we have another 20 weeks until we do find out. The scan was disappointing as I couldn't really see the screen and the sonographer muttered a few things throughout but was difficult to hear as so softly spoken. The main thing is that all is looking good. I am booking a private scan though so we can have a better experience (thank goodness for a Groupon offer doing them cheap!)

Yum, I love the peanut butter cup Ben & Jerry's! !

RhubarbAndMustard · 08/11/2015 19:34

Me that sounds the same as me. So painful and really hard to get comfortable. Let me know if you find any miracle cure! I think it's a sign to slow down a bit and stop raking leaves in the garden.

Welcome dottie!

Paperblank · 08/11/2015 20:29

miss lovely bump pic Smile

Me hope your back eases up - if you're still sore tomorrow try a cura heat patch. They're not as good as a hot water bottle but handy if you're out and about. I used them when I had sciatica.

Hello dottie nice to meet you!

How's everyone been this weekend? I'm currently lying in a hot bath in anticipation of climbing into a freshly made bed with brand new sheets!! I am ridiculously excited and clearly I need to get a life!

QforCucumber · 08/11/2015 21:00

Evening all, crazy day here dp was away for the night for his friends birthday - I get a call at 1am to say the friend whose birthday it is is in hospital having emergency surgery as he's broken his leg in 2 places. Well obviously hormonal mess here panics and cries as I thought it was dp!! He will be ok, being kept in for a few days. Dp Is fine haha.
ginger stay off google, it'll tell you a toothache means you're dying! And I get Erm damp too, wasn't sure if extra sweaty or dischargy haha
Never tried peanut Ben and Jerry's I now need some in my life
Welcome dot another one for team yellow there aren't many of us!
me hope your back eases up, back pain can be the worst - I feel for you.

IndomitabIe · 08/11/2015 21:06

Ooh, Me, that sounds horrible. My mum slipped a disc in her back doing exactly the same. Best get it checked tomorrow!

Paper that sounds perfect!

I have not had the TMI problem of which you speak! The opposite, in fact, as had the coil before that definitely did have that effect!

Hi Dot!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 08/11/2015 21:38

Hi dot >

Sorry to hear about your back me hope its nothing serious.

Lovely day at the zoo today, DD was back on form and raring to go this morning. Didn't get back home till late as had dinner in London and Christ I'm knackered. Ended up getting into bed at half 8 amd pretty sure I'm gonna crash soon. Think we are all going to sleep well tonight! Or at least I hope so as its my turn to get up with DD tomorrow morning...

Nearly 23 weeks now. I have to say after flying by at the beginning it is now starting to crawl! Still 14 weeks till I go on leave. I gave formal notification to HR on Friday with my matb1 form so now it's just the countdown to leave!

Me624 · 09/11/2015 08:09

Thanks all, my back is improved this morning. Still in pain and have popped some more pills (if you can call the two paracetamol we are allowed 'popping pills'!) but it's not as bad as it was yesterday. I'll need to be careful about how I sit at work today - normally my posture is terrible at my desk!

Glad you had a nice time at the zoo with DD, marmite. I haven't thought about MATB1 forms yet ... I think we're supposed to give it to work by 25 weeks right? My next midwife appointment isn't until I'm 25+5 though! Hopefully my work won't mind it being a few days late!

MyNameIsSuz · 09/11/2015 08:25

I was worrying about that too me, my next appointment is at 28 weeks! Work said it was fine to get it then, I've filled in the form which I think they needed by 25 weeks so they said that was fine.

OP posts:
Trinpy · 09/11/2015 09:26

If anyone needs their mat b1 form earlier, my mw was fine with me calling her when I got to 20 weeks and asking her to post it to me.

maybebabybee · 09/11/2015 09:27

another one with backache here!

also was musing about the MATB1 form thing - I won't get mine by 25 weeks as will be 25+3 by next MW appointment. My work already know I'm pregnant and have confirmed my mat leave start date and started advertising for my replacement though, so I'll assume it's fine for them to have it late!

Hope everyone's had a good weekend - will read back now :)

TriJo · 09/11/2015 09:35

I'm the same maybe - 25+4 when I get mine at next MW appointment. I've gone to HR already though and they said it was fine, as did my DH's company HR for his paternity leave.

Crazy busy weekend - did two football matches up north, lot of time on my feet, awkward attempted sleep on a Liverpool to Euston train last night, twas fun though! Little man went a little crazy kicking-wise when we sat down in the Wetherspoons beside Lime St station last night and my DH felt him kick for the first time, 21+1 now so still quite early for that but a really nice moment :)

marmiteandcheeseplease · 09/11/2015 09:42

my next MW appt is also not until 28 weeks, so I just rang up my GPs surgery and got a phone appointment/consultation with a GP who then filled out a form and put it in reception for me to pick up. You can also contact your midwife to ask them to fill one out for you before hand. I think my work would probably have been fine with it being late, but I just wanted to fill it in and get it sorted tbh!

QforCucumber · 09/11/2015 09:49

I have a MW appt next week at 23 weeks so will ask for mine then.

Is it wrong that I was planning on finishing work on the 19th Feb but am now soooooo tempted to put in to stop week beginning 1st or maybe 8th Feb? I just can't be bothered anymore already.
It's not even a physical job, I just don't want to be here haha.

maybebabybee · 09/11/2015 09:52

Q I am finishing work on the 1 February haha so no, it's not wrong at all :)

I am taking all of February as annual leave though, so my mat leave won't officially start til early March, about a week before the due date.

TheMshipIsBack · 09/11/2015 10:02

Q I've only got 6 weeks of full time left and I am counting every hour! Will be half time after the holidays, blissful naps await.

Had some irritating news a couple of days ago. DMIL and DFIL who live quite close are supposed to be our back-up care for DS ... and they're going abroad for a week when I am 38-39 weeks! DMIL sort of blinked and said she didn't think babies came that early! To be fair, both hers were well overdue, but DS was only a couple of days over and second babies often are earlier. I'm a little annoyed because they so clearly didn't think about the timing, and yet have been going on about how lovely it will be to be around for baby's first few days. They really are nice people, and usually very thoughtful, this has been doubly surprising.

Oh well. I've been thinking about a home birth anyway as my last labour was only 9 hours. Also have contacted a nanny agency about having someone 'on call', or could possibly lean on our lovely next door neighbour. Even planning a home birth we'd still need back-up in case I did have to go to hospital.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 09/11/2015 10:02

haha Q that's exactly how I feel! was gonna go on leave on 22nd Feb but moved it to the 15th as I already can't be arsed with work and just want to be on leave already!

QforCucumber · 09/11/2015 10:11

maybe I'm keeping my annual leave for Nov/Dec, so will get a paid for those at the end of the maternity leave, 2 weeks in nov and 3 in december (where I work are awkward as hell and only let you put in what you've accrued and as we run Jan-Dec I apparently won't have accrued enough by Feb to take any?! Another annoyance with the place.

Oh no mship they probably just didn't think at all, then again - SIL has just had her 2nd, and went 6 days overdue so hopefully similar will happen for you.

maybebabybee · 09/11/2015 10:19

Q that is very annoying! Yeah our leave year runs 31 Dec - 31 Jan but they are still letting me take feb as annual leave even though I won't have accrued leave. I'm taking the full 52 weeks though so there wouldn't be much point in waiting for me to accrue anything - why are some places so bureaucratic!

I'm probably not going to go back to work, or at least not the same job. Anyone else in the same boat?

Gingerlady123 · 09/11/2015 10:28

I have my next midwife app at 24+5 so gonna get mat b1 form then.
Was planning last day 4th March . Due date 19th March but I'm so tired already that I know it's coming forward to some time in February. I can't bloody wait.

Anyone else knackered no matter how much sleep I get I can't stop yawning.

Mship- that is. But annoying but it doesn't sound deliberate by them. Hope you get something sorted

QforCucumber · 09/11/2015 10:30

maybe yup me,

I plan to start looking for other jobs as soon as the October/November comes around, I didn't take the interview I was offered last week as spoke to them and their start date is mid jan - didn't think it would be fair for me to leave 3 weeks after starting haha.

I will be going back to work, we can't afford for me not to really, but certainly do not intend to be back in the same place. Only stayed this long due to the pregnancy otherwise would have probably left by now.

vroc81 · 09/11/2015 10:56

Welcome Dot!!

Ffaux and Ginger hope things are going ok, there has been lots of helpful advise on here, we're all here to listen when you need to let off..

Me hope the backs not too bad at work!

I have spent the entire weekend coughing... anyone got any suggestions for what I can do to soothe it?? - even honey and lemon are starting to fail now, my poor colleagues, I would have worked from home but we unplugged the router while DH did some painting and it wont turn on again now its plugged back in.. Every muscle in my lungs and across my stomach hurts from the coughing and I have barely slept in two days..

I've got my next midwife appointment next week at 24+3 so will get my form then.. I might even tell them this week when I plan to go..

MShip while I dont need them for babysitting my DFIL goes on a holiday the day after my due date for three weeks, could we just make sure she's on time so that they can see her before they go - errr I will see what I can do shall I?!!

RhubarbAndMustard · 09/11/2015 11:18

Very jealous of all those planning to finish work in February. I really need to work until the last minute if possible to save as much as we can before baby arrives.

Had my MW apt today at 22+4. Apparently they don't always book these ones in due to cost savings (which is why some of you are probably having to wait until 28 weeks). My MW doesn't agree with it though, so she books all her ladies in for the extra apt. I got my Mat B1 form, and another growth scan booked in for this Wednesday. Can't wait to see little man again. I've also got my Anti D booked in for 17th Dec.

Me hope your back gets better today and maybe sorry to hear yours is playing up too. Mine is definitely easing today but MW said to book in with GP if it becomes a problem.

vroc I totally feel for you and your grotty cough. No other suggestions than what you are currently doing but make sure you rest up and take it easy.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 09/11/2015 11:29

rhubarb I think the lack of appointment before 28 weeks is because it's my second pregnancy; basically if it's your first (in my area, anyway), you have three additional appointments - one at 24 weeks (ish?), and a couple more later on as well. Basically second time round they aren't that bothered to see you if you had a straightforward first pregnancy and aren't under consultant care!

I'm really lucky with my holiday. Working for a university, I get 40 days leave (including public holidays and university closure days - though tbh I rarely take those 40 days as often work from home when the university is closed). I'm taking a couple of weeks off over Xmas, and have already taken a week or two off since September, which is when my leave year starts. So I'm taking two weeks before maternity leave, and carrying over the last couple of weeks for use next year! Apparently you are not supposed to carry over too much leave (I don't know what the maximum is) but the university policy says that if you couldn't take all of your leave in one year due to maternity, you can carry it over.

maybebabybee · 09/11/2015 11:30

vroc I've also got a manky cough like the one you describe - keep waking up in the night coughing up great gobules of green phlegm - how disgusting Confused

I went to see my GP about it as it felt like it might have gone to my chest (I have had pneumonia before) and she said there's one going round at the moment that takes about six weeks to clear up! The only thing that helps me is sticking my head over a bucket of boiling water with a towel over my head. That and having a hot shower - the steam seems to work quite well. But it's only temporary relief :(
