I slept the first few hours of the night out of sheer exhaustion and then spent the rest awake worrying. I'm usually great at dusting myself off and getting on with things but I'm really struggling with this at the moment - I suspect it's hormones and exhaustion and months of stress all combined. DH actually looked quite worried seeing me going off to work this morning... crying again. He keeps telling me that as long as we're all together and healthy it will all work out okay and I know he's right... but it's hard to see how this will end up and it scares me. I think there's an element of self pity there too - I'm pregnant and should be getting excited and preparing for my baby and not dealing with all this and it's NOT FAIR (sticks out bottom lip!).

Anyway I'm sure I'll snap out of it soon. Sorry for derailing the thread and going on and on about myself - it's nice to have somewhere to vent!

jellypi3 · 22/10/2015 08:26

Oh no big un-mumsnetty hugs for you mawsy that sounds terrible :( I can't imagine the stress after all those months of waiting. I'm sure things will turn out eventually, sometimes parents say the worst thing at times of need. Try not to get too down.

26 weeks today. Or as my mind keeps putting it, 14 weeks to go...

RattyCatty · 22/10/2015 09:21

mawsy sending you hugs. Sounds v stressful but try to think that things will work out eventually whatever happens. Hard, I know.

Rufus200 · 22/10/2015 13:18

Jelly hope you are feeling better today.

Mawsy House stuff sucks! Sorry that it hasn't worked out. DH and I started looking for a house in Jan 2013, we hope to finally move in Dec 2015! It took that long to find a house and it needed huge amounts of work and still isn't going to be perfect even after the 10mths of building work as we just don't have the money to do what we need. The house will still have a serious damp problem in the conservatory, not helped by the builder letting rain water pour down the walls as he hasn't put the guttering up properly.
We had to agree to a 9 month period between exchange and completion to get the sellers to exchange. It was the only way to make sure they couldn't back out on us, they promised us it would be a 3-6mths before they moved out. It was literally the week before I was going to have to start legal action to throw them out of the house that they finally completed and moved out.

I'm very jealous of everyone that can get stuff sent to them from the USA but I have found a website that will deliver to the UK and prices already include VAT and import charges, so no hidden extras.
www.zulily.co.uk There stock changes every day at 2pm GMT and they have a maternity and baby section. I'm addicted I have to admit and have bought loads of stuff, including a maternity winter coat with down, which I couldn't find anything similar to in the UK. Just be careful not everything is a bargain and you can buy some stuff cheaper in the UK but there are some great USA brands that we can't get here. Also at the moment they do this great shipping option that if you place an order on a Friday, you only pay 1 shipping fee and then get free shipping all weekend. Shipping is only £3.95 per day.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 22/10/2015 15:12

I had a morning from hell trying to get the cat to the vet and keep the 35 month old from tearing the place down after a 30 minute wait. I was so frazzled by the end that I was either going to cry or leave. Thankfully at that moment the door opened and we were ushered in.

I have absolutely no idea how I am going to cope with a new baby and my son. Particularly if the new baby is anything like my son! Fucking hell I feel stressed just thinking about the two of them tearing the place up. I just won't be able to go out I think.

NorthernChinchilla · 22/10/2015 15:14

Aaaargh! My appointment was at 1.15, I arrived nice and early at 12.50, and the receptionist cocked up and didn't book me in! So everyone is going before me and I'm still waiting
They have apologised, but still.... Chairs are sodding uncomfy too Angry

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 22/10/2015 15:15

Oh Mawsy I'm so sorry to hear your news re. the house. That would upset anyone pregnant or not but particularly of you're pregnant and want to start organising things. If it helps I have nothing organised bar the carrycot attachment to my pram. The house we are in needs decorating, it is a state and I am so busy trying to get DSs room done and spending my time sanding down cheap eBay furniture and restaining and varnishing I have no time to even think about a nursery for the baby. We are just going to have to make do and sort something out when the child is older.

NorthernChinchilla · 22/10/2015 15:20

mawsy, the house stuff is grim. I know how all-encompassing it can be. It seems irrational but it does take over your life, and you can't stop yourself from stressing. Unhelpful comments are not what you need either... nor is the fact that you can't go 'oh fuck it' and open a bottle of red.

It will improve, it just doesn't feel like it at the moment.

jellypi3 · 22/10/2015 15:36

Yeh better thanks rufus making sure to eat little and often today and it's helping. Just want to sleep at the moment.

Just has my flu jab, pretty painless so far!

MaisieDotes · 22/10/2015 15:40

That sucks chinchilla. Are you still waiting?

NorthernChinchilla · 22/10/2015 16:22

Went in as you posted maisie, 3 hours!! The PGP has not appreciated the seating at the hospital, nor at the two lengthy meetings yesterday....

I know what you mean who, I've seen so many calm pre-schoolers in public over the last few months and DS is NOTHING like them! Can't imagine gong out with him and baby, the thought's terrifying isn't it?!

www.ecoclothdiaper.com

Both ship to the UK for very little! Little Bloom on eBay have very well priced nappies, my parcel from them arrived yesterday, really good quality too.

Have a meeting at school at 8am tomorrow to try and tackle this harassment. Absolutely dreading it. Thank feck its half term next week and we can all have a rest.

Will respond properly tomorrow, I'm off to bed, utterly exhausted.

haquoi123 · 22/10/2015 18:27

troika and till, thanks so much for the nappy advice. I think I need to have a sit down and basically trawl through it all and then bite the bullet and buy!

rufus did the heartburn calm down at all? I get it after eating toast and cake... Doesn't stop me though, I have to admit!

mawsy that SUCKS about the house!! I think just mope and eat shed loads of cake in place of wine, eurgh, allow yourself to feel crap because it IS crap! I'm so sorry it's not worked out.

jelly glad you're feeling better and that all was ok.

till good luck for tomorrow! And bring on half term!

We're doing ok since sexcapades (although no sex!). I wasn't too worried but it still doesn't half shake you up. I also had that jelly the day after as well and properly freaked out as I'd had something similar with DS. The midwife said that the cervix had been jiggled so it was to be expected, and no issues since. Bubs also nicely kicking and his growth spurt seems to have calmed down a little (my poor tummy!)

Going back a couple of pages to elective C Sections, there's something called a Family friendly or Woman centred C Section (they've talked about it in our hypnobirthing class). I could only find info below, but I know that it's worth asking for it (it probably won't happen if you don't ask) www.rcm.org.uk/news-views-and-analysis/analysis/the-natural-caesarean

That's really interesting haquoi. I had a planned cs on DS but he was so awkwardly positioned that 2 doctors had to manhandle him out bum first! So a lot of that wouldn't have worked for me. It was still an amazing experience finally meeting him. Unfortunately the hospital I attend only has one recovery area and there may be women who have had other gynae procedures there so I didn't get to have DS with me for a while. That's the only thing I'd like to change if I have to have another CS but it's out of my hands.

RattyCatty · 22/10/2015 22:21

Night ladies - wishing all a good night's rest.

I have felt very low today and on verge of tears but not sure why so hoping I feel brighter tomorrow!

jellypi3 · 23/10/2015 08:04

hope you feel better today ratty!

i've got my 28w mw appointment today at 26 weeks. Clearly my doctors likes to do it differently.

Rufus200 · 23/10/2015 08:11

ratty hope today is better

haquoi yes thanks it has been much better since that night, I've been lying a lot more on my left side which seems to help.

My bump doubled in size yesterday, I think baby had got himself stuck in a really awkward position and had his his head behind my belly button, then he shifted and bump halved in size again. It was huge for a few hours!

I'm so excited, I'm off to the baby show this morning with my mum. I have a big list of things I need/look at and I've found the cheapest price online so I can compare for deals. Also hoping to find innovations/quirky stuff that I've never heard of.

haquoi123 · 23/10/2015 08:12

Oh ratty, hope you're feeling better this morning.

Haha jelly, that's strange! Hope it goes well :)

It's strange when they turn isn't it? Wonderful but strange!

jellypi3 · 23/10/2015 08:20

everyone keeps telling me how massive my bump is, i'm worried i'm going to have a ginorma-baby!

oo have fun at the baby show rufus, i did see the tickets for sale for it but i'm busy when it's on.

MaisieDotes · 23/10/2015 08:34

Hi everyone. God I am so fed up with this back pain. It's getting on for two weeks of it now and I'm miserable with it.

The pain itself is bearable but it's the knock on effects- not being able to lift DS as much, not being able to keep the house looking tidy because I just can't bend, it's getting me down.

I'm doing my physio exercises religiously but I expect there's an element of things getting worse before they get better which is where I'm at now.

Ok, moan over Grin

clarabellski · 23/10/2015 09:14

Hi everyone.

Does anyone know when you're supposed to gain the most amount of weight during pregnancy? I'm 24+4 and I've put on 7lb so far (but I also lost 5lb in first trimester so technically I have put on 12lb). Does this seem normal? I've just looked at NHS that says for normal BMI, total weight gain should be between 25lb and 35lb, so it seems like I've got quite a bit to go to get to 25lb. Is there a weight gain spurt in 3rd trimester?

My bump is definitely there (it sticks out more than my boobs which are a DD cup) and at last midwife appointment they said it was measuring correctly for dates.

RattyCatty · 23/10/2015 09:28

Thanks ladies - think I was overtired & hormonal.

Hope app goes well jelly let us know!

Have fun at show rufus & let us know if you find anything amazing!

maisie that's no fun - can you go back to doc?

clara I'm not sure on weight gain but know it just varies between people. I have always been told that baby takes what it needs so I wouldn't worry too much & just check at your next app.

jellypi3 · 23/10/2015 10:48

Appointment went ok, the good news is i don't gave gestational diabetes! Hooray!

The bad news is i need more blood tests because my bloods from this week came back with elevated liver thingy-ma-bobs...Boo!
