clara Weight gain varies.

DC1 I went from 9st to 12st and stayed around 11st for 18 months after.

DC2 I was 8st at booking appointment and was 9st when I delivered at 36 weeks.

DC3 I was 10st at booking and weighed 12st 7lbs at 38 weeks - lost the weight really fast tho, combination of breastfeeding and ExDP leaving when she was 6 weeks old.

DC4 - 11st 2lbs at booking, I was 11st 8lbs at 20 weeks and no idea what I am now at almost 24 weeks.

I have a friend who gained 6 stone - I have one who gained 7lbs and a bunch of in betweeners.

MaryEllen1 · 23/10/2015 11:36

Have fun at the show rufus I'm going on Sunday!

Feeling for everyone with backache! Hope it eases soon.

With weight gain I think it varies to be honest, I've only put on a small amount and am waiting for it to catch up with me!

clarabellski · 23/10/2015 11:49

Wow, that's a lot of variation Till! Thanks guys, I guess thing to focus on is that the baby is measuring in line with dates etc, regardless of what rest of my body is doing! Confused

I liked your livery medical description jelly, but hope its nothing too serious! Good news on the GD front, means you can have Cake

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 23/10/2015 11:55

I've put on about 10lb and I've 24 weeks. I honestly can't remember what I put on with DS by the end but I know after breast feeding and a stint at Slimming World I got down to a really low weight so I'm not going to stress too much.

monkerina · 23/10/2015 12:08

I'm 23 weeks and I'm about 14lbs heavier than normal- when I got my BFP we'd just come back from holiday and there was at least 4lbs of icecream weight that normally would have disappeared in a week or two, never shifted though!

CalypsoLilt · 23/10/2015 12:39

Hi everyone, sorry I've been offline for so long, things manic at home and work and I'm effin exhausted. Had my first coffee yesterday in 6 months, I think I might have had some sort of caffeine orgasm, it was amazing Grin

really sorry about your house mawsy can you stay where you are now? re: rentals, go into all your local rental agencies and point at your belly and be like phone me first when a new property comes up or I will break my waters in your office (not sure what area you are, but don't bother with Romans, they are a bunch of ***).

Troika Arrow and Haquoi and any others doing cloth nappies tiny nippers have a flash sale on today and tomorrow (www.tinynippers.co.uk/) I have spent £100 today!! YIKES!! I got 8 popper pockets, 5 velcro pockets and 5 wraps, plus loads of liners and boosters etc etc, all birth-to-potty as I have some newborn stuff at home (will post stash photo over the weekend) I'm worried now as Troika said pockets weren't that great, but I guess all babies are different and I can always buy more, right?! Grin the stash today from Tiny Nippers I think is only about half of what I need...

I'm 23+5 and I've gained 17lbs so far. Probably a little more than I should but my bosoms are epic, sadly no one to show them too Wink

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 23/10/2015 12:42

Looks like between 14 and 16 pounds weight gain at 24 weeks is average. So we are all quite average Grin

Rufus200 · 23/10/2015 12:56

Just left the show, did it in 2 hrs, loved it!
Got some major discounts on big stuff! Got a cot mattress at 20% off but compared to John Lewis price was 30% off.
Got a Mountain Buggy Juno carrier. Looked at every carrier at the show and it was by far the most comfortable for baby and parent. Got my skin cream that I use at 20% off. Got lots of freebies and got 15 bibs for £20. Also got to look at lots of products that are cheaper on Amazon but I wanted to look at. Have decided against the maxi cost cabriofix and now going to get a pebble with the family fix base. Definitely going to get the Tommee tippee perfect prep can use with any bottle brand.

Zara home, which sells nursery and baby, is doing 20% off EVERYTHInG online and instore tomorrow. They sell Moses baskets etc.

Rufus200 · 23/10/2015 13:02

I've gained 15kgs or 33lbs already and I don't care! I'm still skinner then most women walking around with their bumps at the baby show. Only a few more kgs and I will be heavier then DH!

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 23/10/2015 13:08

Calypso The Little Bloom nappies I have are pockets, obviously I've not road tested them, I thought they'd be a massive faff in terms of stuffing them, but I'm actually a convert (I also have wraps and terry towelling flats) and after YouTubing my ass off, discovered a few people who don't stuff their pockets, they sit the boosters/liners etc on top which is what I'll probably end up doing lazy I'm off to check out that website, no payday for a fortnight tho, boooo to 5 week months.

MaisieDotes · 23/10/2015 13:12

rufus the Perfect Prep is the best thing ever, I highly recommend it.

Your posts make me feel I should be buying more! I need a new crib mattress but I think that's it really Confused

I have a snuzpod but I'm just getting an ordinary crib mattress for it this time, rather than the lentil-weaving organic snuzpod one. Wherever I get it I'm buying it in the shop as the exchange rate is so crap at the moment every time I buy something on line it's costing me a fortune!

jellypi3 · 23/10/2015 13:38

i bought the isofix for my aton cybex car seat but im tempted to take it back and get the maxi cosi pebble and the family fix base...seems better value in the long run

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 23/10/2015 13:43

We are currently car less and will be for a while Sad Planning to get a Cabriofix (I get a lift to Church/Bible Study/toddler group/prayer meetings etc) for ease of use and when if we ever have a car again, I'll be getting an extended rear facing + whatever base they use (haven't done any research, can't see the point yet) DDs have Maxi Cosi seats in ExDPs car and they're fab.

Troika · 23/10/2015 14:14

Calypso don't panic, pockets aren't bad, it's just that overall I prefer a two part, especially for newborns because of their liquid poo. Obviously how absorbent they are also depends on what you stuff them with, I just found that to get like for like absorbency I needed to stuff them with a lot and then they sagged and gaped around the legs. But don't forget I last had a newborn 8 years ago so nappies have probably changed quite a bit since then Grin. And you may not be as lazy about changing nappies as me. My pockets really came into their own when I had walking babies because you can use them like pull ups which is great for a baby that won't lie down to be changed! You're right about different babies suiting different nappies too, my friend swore by her prefolds, but on my two they just bunched up and poo went everywhere, even when I made sure to fan the back out.

Weight gain, dc1 I put on 18kg I think-returned to normal weight within weeks but was a completely different shape, dc2 only 6kg (3.2 of that was baby and I went down to extremely low weight afterwards), this time it was 7kg so far last time I weighed. I think my bump is still small though, people are certainly commenting on my 'little bump'. Although I'm tiny anyway so even with a bump I'm still smaller than a lot of people. With dc2 I never measured more than 28 weeks so had to have loads of growth scans but he was a normal weight (just very squashed inside me).

Rufus you are scarily organised! I'm itching to sort through all my stuff but keep reminding myself I do actually have ages yet!

RattyCatty · 23/10/2015 15:02

rufus I LOVE Zara home! Thank you for tip! Smile

Mawsymoo · 23/10/2015 15:53

We have ERF carseats for DS that are approved rear-facing up to 25kg (around age 5). They strap in with the seatbelt and tether to the seat in front. They're Britax 2-way elites. You don't really need isofix for the bigger seats - you're not going to be popping the seat in and out of the car once they get to that size, it will just stay-put. We had a maxi-cosi cabriofix when he was small with a borrowed "easyfix" base and that worked perfectly. Just something to consider as the various bases etc can all add to the costs.

NorthernChinchilla · 23/10/2015 18:24

Well we've had a brilliant day. Family trip to dentist's, fine, but just after we left we were at a roundabout and stationary when someone accelerated into the back of us.
Was so shaken up, crying and all over the place. Went straight to A&E, then had to be sent onto the maternity hospital to be checked out.
The hospital was where I'd had the surgical management of my miscarriage earlier this year, and I'd sworn the next time I was there I'd be having DC 2, so not ideal.
Thankfully all seems OK, just aching from the impact.

After yesterday's epic hospital trip I could have done without another 5 hours in them today!

RattyCatty · 23/10/2015 18:27

Oh northern what an awful day - sending love. Thank goodness you are ok. You need to rest up x

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 23/10/2015 18:28

I have the maxi cosi pearl on the family fix base for my toddler. So you can go from the pebble to the pearl and still use the family fix base. We have so many blimmin seats for all sorts of stages so we are just going to reuse those.

MaisieDotes · 23/10/2015 18:29

Bloody hell chinchilla are you ok?!? Shock

Did your LO get an awful shock too? Glad everything checked out ok for you. What an upsetting thing to happen Sad

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 23/10/2015 18:30

Oh bless you Northern. You just can't protect yourself from other crap drivers, I'm so glad you are ok. I assume they were insured and you can just make a claim and sort it out easily?

Mawsymoo · 23/10/2015 18:38

Oh northern how stressful thank goodness you're okay. Someone crashed into the side of my car when I was pregnant and wrote it off - me and baby were fine but it was lots of stress. Apparently he "didn't know the roundabout was there"

NorthernChinchilla · 23/10/2015 19:52

Thanks all. Ironic it's the only time I've ever been involved in anything like it. Similar here mawsy, 18 year old driver and just not competent; thought we had gone when we'd just pulled forward and stopped.
Just hoping that the stiffness/pain doesn't develop, as that would be all I need on top of the PGP!

Thank goodness we'd already dropped DS off at nursery. DP sorting out the claim.

A quiet weekend ahead I hope...

MaryEllen1 · 23/10/2015 20:06

How horrible nothern glad you got checked out and all ok!

Mawsymoo · 23/10/2015 20:13

Quite the opposite with my driver northern he was 97!Shock
