Morning everyone!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bubblez · 28/11/2006 15:58

mateva - They are essentialy the same thing.
I wouldn't worry too much about 'how to dress your baby' or 'getting it right'. You will know when the time comes based on the wheather. DD was born in december so I just put lots of layers on and when she was in a warm house removed some. April is a funny month sometimes it'll be warm sometimes cold. Don't under estimate yourself you will know what to do....xx

Bramshott · 28/11/2006 16:00

Hope you get some answers Liath. Thinking of you.

Pesha - did you get any more answers / a date for follow up from what they found at your scan?

Maveta - I remember being really confused by the names before we had DD!! Basically a bodysuit is a vest - either in long sleeve or short sleeve, and a sleepsuit is what used to be called babygro when I was small and is the most useful thing to dress them in when they are small.

bubblez · 28/11/2006 16:02

sos didnt realise that you are in spain

I'm sure that April will be warm then where you are. The general rule of thumb is not to overheat baby and you can tell the baby's temp by touching baby's chest or back. That is what midwife told me anyway....hth...xx

maveta · 28/11/2006 16:03

GGF - thanks. So all the long sleeved things with legs and or feet are actually sleepsuits? But seeing as I am planning to have my baby in babygros rather than outfits, a newborn can actually be in one of these most of the time, right??
Yes, I'm in Spain, you're right! but end of april I would probably still be wearing long sleeves, if not a jacket, so I would imagine I will need these and at night it can still be cool until the end of May..taking into account that our houses here don't have heating..brrrrrrr..
Thanks though, I know that in a year I will laugh at all I didn't know but for your first time there is so much that seems obvious and yet no one tells you!!

IB3 I meant to say - what a nightmare for you - does indeed sound like it's going to be a bundle of laughs.. hope it turns out to be much more uneventful that you expect. And just DON'T CLEAN UP AFTER HIM! At least you can use your pregnant state as an excuse to pull him up on every single line he crosses!

Bugmum · 28/11/2006 16:05

Liath - just wanted to add my thoughts and good wishes for your extra scan.

Thanks to those who sympathised with my DS's screeching; you just want to say 'TALK, DAMN IT', don't you? Or is that just me ?

I am still feeling full of cold and sorry for myself. DP has taken DS to Sansibury's, with strict instructions to come back with choc ices. For the bean, obviously

maveta · 28/11/2006 16:06

bubblez and bramshott - cross posted there. Thanks for your answers too..if they are babygros then it is all clear! I know it is silly things that pop into my head at times, I am sure once I have the baby here we will work it out but sometimes there is just so much info chucked at you that it's a bit of a head spinner!

bubblez · 28/11/2006 16:08

Don't worry when I was pregnant with dd I was worried about everything. The problem was that everyone had had their children so long before me that I didn't have anyone to ask. That is why mn is soo bril .

doghouse · 28/11/2006 16:25

Maveta - thanks for asking the question about bodysuits/sleepsuits/babygros ... was keeping me awake at night too! It's funny the things you worry about isn't it?

Hope MIAM is OK.

opinionsrus · 28/11/2006 16:34

Hi am new to this board...I am due on
April 10th so I think I am in the right place.

Has anyone else just started to get really bad back pain. Also I have alot of gripe type pain at the front aswell. Had this with DS1 too, and from I can remember it soon went away. Anyone feeling this too?

Tili · 28/11/2006 16:35

Even though this is my second im still stewing over things, like I bottle fed my dd as breast feeding wasnt to be with me so im going to bottle feed this LO too I couldnt for the life of me recall how many ounces of milk they start off on .

I also worried that Id just forgotten what its like to have a newborn.im sure it will all come flooding back probably as the contractions start !! lol

Tili · 28/11/2006 16:37

hello opinionsrus i x posted you there.

maveta · 28/11/2006 16:45

Hi opinionsrus! You are indeed in the right place! I am afraid I can only offer sympathy as I do not have any real pains yet..sure they are waiting right round the corner for me though! I am not due til the end of april so you are a bit ahead of my anyway. And my bump STILL is nothing to really show off at all which probably explains why nothing is putting pressue on my back! I have resorted to relaxing my tummy to full expansion to make the most of what I do have..hahahahahah!

It REALLY is a wonder what we obsess over re. little questions and worries. But the thing with me is that suddenly that little question that popped into my head becomes an all consuming obsession and I cannot stop mulling it over until I have asked opinions/ searched the net/ checked my books. Is this pregnancy or a basic personality flaw??

I have felt so emotional all day after bursting into tears on the phone to dh so a girlfriend just invited me over to watch a dvd tonight and I am JUMPING at the offer! Think I must stock up on plenty of biccies and yummy things first...

doobydoo · 28/11/2006 16:48

Hope you get positive news Liath

1b3..you are a blimmin saint!Your dh is very lucky to have you.

YvieE · 28/11/2006 16:51

Its taken me an hour (with interruptions) to catch up on all the posts....and I've forgotten half of them already!!!
Okay Katy44,Bramshott and CFK congrats on the scans.
1b3 - hugs for your terrible weekend but try not to let it stress you out you are carrying precious cargo!!
Wilderbeast - sorry about your weekend also - i have those sometimes.
Catch up with you all tonight.

YvieE · 28/11/2006 16:52

Ahhhh Liath (knew I had forgotten someone) - hope all goes well with your additional scan. HUGS.

opinionsrus · 28/11/2006 17:12

Mines deffo a boy.Was told it was a boy and even saw the bits dangling about, he's well endowed like his brother!!

Really really wanted a boy and was so happy I cried (again). I'll be a bit careful about what I say cos I know that some are very emotional about what they are having, and really want boy/girl for personal reasons.

But from where I'm coming from I really didn't want a girl, and I think I've been blessed. Fingers crossed for good birth, if there is such a thing!!!

No more pregancies though for me - this has nearly killed me, unbelievable sickness for first 4 months which landed me in hospital.

sallycinnamon · 28/11/2006 17:17

Hello! I had my scan this afternoon. Everything seems ok- I couldn't believe how clear it was. Although we didn't ask what sex it was it seemed quite obvious it was a blue one! Now I wish we'd asked to find out just to confirm our suspicions. It was very emotional particularly when there was a close up of baby's face.

Thinking of you Liath- hope you get some news soon. xx

eca · 28/11/2006 18:27

Hi Sally - congrats on the scan! Glad to hear other people blub their way through them !!

Welcome opinionsrus. And congrats on the blue bean! Sorry to hear you were so sick. I was really sick too and only just getting over it.

Maveta - hope you manage to work out your hol.

1b3 - a drunken nephew! 3 days! EVERY week! Are you a saint and just not letting on to us mere mortals??

Hello everyone else. This post takes so much catching up!

I made it on a shopping trip today! not been that far for months coz of sickness! Managed to get ZERO! All i did was eat, drink and wee (alot!). Nice to get into town though.

liath · 28/11/2006 18:51

Thanks so much everyone for your kind words, it's been really comforting. DH is being fantastic as are all my family. Will keep you updated once I'm a bit clearer what's happening.

opinionsrus · 28/11/2006 19:09

Eca - doesn't it annoy you how the sickness can take over your life. I hated it. What I hated the most was that I couldn't do anything or go anywhere with my 2 year old and really felt that I was letting him down.

Have been feeling much much better only now its back pain and the "period pain" type feeling, oh and I forgot the exhaustion and falling asleep in the middle of the day.

Anything, anything is better than the dreaded sickness though, so thumbs up there!!!!!!!!!!!

opinionsrus · 28/11/2006 19:13

PS what's everyone eating???

What are the cravings at the moment?? I've only just been able to start eating really so am making the most of it - can always diet next year can't we!

What is it about pregnancy that tells you its ok to eat as much as you want?

CaptainDippy · 28/11/2006 19:28

Maveta - You are not a bitch - it is a sensitive sitaution and I am not sure what to advise, but I hope you and DH can work it out - Like you said, his mum does have lots of other people who could be around her during those 4 days after the op ...... Mmmmmmm .....

As for sleepsuits / babygros and vest / body suits - I think it has all already been said - Vests can come in long or short sleeve and have no legs, but usually poppers underneath; Sleepsuits are the "all-in-one" jobbies with legs and feet etc and are generally long-sleeved. Would recommend short-sleeved vest under sleepsuits for cold nights / days - and yes, it is acceptable for a newborn to live permenatly in a sleepsuit for the first few months of it's life. Although I have to admit, I got sooooo many cute little outfits that I soon got into a cute outfit for the day / sleepsuit for the night routine pretty quickly.

Liath - I admire your positivity soooo much and I hope so much that further appointments / scans show everything to be ok with Bean's bowel etc. Keep us posted honey .....

1B3 - We're having a South-East Meet Up in Jan, which will be held in Southampton - not too bad to commute from London!!? .... but if you are feeling super lonely up there, I would LOVE to meet up with you one Sat - I do LOVE London!! Email me - captain_dippy "at" yahoo "dot" co "dot" uk ..... and at DH deciding his Nephew can come to stay!!!!! I wouldn't lift a finger if I were you honey - Did he actually discuss it with you 1st?? Hoping he WILL work and WON'T be a lazy git (Pigs Might Fly, eh!!? ) [hugs]

Hi opinionsrus!! Good to "see" you here!! Great news on the Blue Bean Sausage!!

Glad your scan went well Sally - LOL @ "obvious dangly bits"!!

Neeeeeeeeed to eat .........

oooggs · 28/11/2006 20:00
