Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AndAKaty44InAPearTree · 04/12/2006 18:11

It worked!

AndAKaty44InAPearTree · 04/12/2006 18:19

Sorry to be a misery, but should I be worried that I'm 20 weeks today and still haven't felt any kicks?

AngeGabriel · 04/12/2006 18:40

Katy - Don't think you need to be worried about not feeling anything yet. Are you a firsttimer?
Often in the first pg you don't feel anything til later than 20wks.In my firstpg I didn't feel anything til nearer 22wks. Also sometimes if you have a placenta that is on the front of your womb (anterior) it means you don't feel baby kicking til later.
Ring your mw though if you're worried at least she can then listen into the heartbeat to reassure you that all is ok.

SparklySnowflakeKid · 04/12/2006 18:46

Katy44 - when is your scan? If your midwife can hear the heartbeat - don't fret too much - but do mention it to her. I find the best time for movement is when go to bed - you may want to give your tummy a good poke LOL - may get him moving about or eat something sweet like chocolate then lie down - always works for me.

Glad to hear you had nice time in bath emmymummmyxmaspudtummy - it is really manic at christmas and the school parties in their multicoloured backpacks in June/July are even worse - but you forget it happens until you pop in qwuickly for something and have to dodge your way down the street! I am going in next saturday - but not til 4pm for girly evening dinner and the markets. There is also a chocolate event on.....

Am going to bed v. early tonight - need zzzzzz

AndAKaty44InAPearTree · 04/12/2006 19:00

Thanks Ange and SSK. I had my scan last Monday and the baby was moving and kicking then so probably no need to worry. I will try the prodding trick but really don't need to eat any more chocolate (coincidentally was just finishing a family bar when I read that )
This is my first one though so I'm glad to know it's not that unusual.
Have a MW appt on the 19th so will ask her to let me hear the heartbeat again.
GMM, glad you're feeling a bit better, hope you're taking it easy.
Liath, thinking about you. Did you say you have a scan this week?

SparklySnowflakeKid · 04/12/2006 19:04

Didn't liath have scan today???

Katy - would go down the prodding route

EmmymummyChristmasPudTummy · 04/12/2006 19:05

SSFK - you mean I missed the chocolate event?? nightmare! Will have to make up for it by eating a lot of chocolate next weekend and imagining I'm still in your beautiful city.

AndAKaty44InAPearTree · 04/12/2006 19:09

DH doesn't like it when I do that - is convinced I'm hurting the baby. He gets quite defensive on her behalf

SparklySnowflakeKid · 04/12/2006 19:22

My dh is very protective of baby aswell - always checking to make sure am looking after him properly The other feeling you can get is that your body is moving when you're not if that makes any sense.

Sorry about choc day...am going to get myself a big bar of green & black milk choc tomorrow and eat the lot! On saturday they have lots of homemade and organic choc suppliers.....dribble

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 19:52

sorry to crash try a nice cold glass of water that should get baby moving.

AndAKaty44InAPearTree · 04/12/2006 19:54

Will try that now thanks.
Have just had lots of choccy, bleurgh

liath · 04/12/2006 20:04

Scan's wednesday.

Loving the festive names.

Hmmmm. Liathesnowman, Liathexmaspud! Any other bright ideas? Will look like a pud soon at the rate I'm scoffing chocolate .

Sexonreindeerlegs · 04/12/2006 20:13

Hi Liath.

Can I ask you ladies your opinion on something - not related to pg.

Dh and I both have our xmas do on the same night, so we will need to get a sitter. I have found out that a friend of dh's is over from Holland that weekend and dh has offered to put him up the night we are out and the night after. I have met this guy once. This would mean he would be here with the sitter. I personally don't feel comfortable with this. If I was babysitting for a friend, I would not feel comfortable if someone else was there that I didn't know.
Am I being silly - dh thinks I am.
Thanks lovelies.

AndAKaty44InAPearTree · 04/12/2006 20:20

HolLiathAndTheIvy?
Hope things go well on Wednesday

weewishyouamerryonion · 04/12/2006 20:25

SORL - hard to say. it depends alot on what this guy is like and also what yr babysitter is like too? i dont think i would mind if i was yr sitter - especially if he was ok / easy to talk to?

liath - good wishes yr way for wednesday. are you up at the RI for this one?

katypeartree - the doc also recommeneded to me that i try the cold water. did nothing for the baby and set my bloody teeth on edge. mine seemed to move alot more around 18 weeks and now is chilling out. gonna try and hot hot curry 2moro night and see if that will budge her butt....

Bramshott · 04/12/2006 20:34

SORL - I can see your point about the friend / sitter, but then I can see your DH's too. Agree it depends on the sitter (and age of the sitter?) and the friend. Sorry, that's not much help is it!

Katy - this bean always seems to give me a hefty kick if I bend over and squash it! But don't worry, you'll feel it soon - it'll be tramping up and down on your bladder in no time, and then you'll wish it kept still!!

Going to mull over a festive name tonight . . .

22+1

AngeGabriel · 04/12/2006 20:43

SORL - I can see your point. I think I would feel a bit weird about it. Maybe DH friend will go out for the evening and then it won't be so bad he can just use your house as a hotel for the night. Have you got space for the sitter and him to be in separate rooms? I think I'd feel a bit weird having to spend the evening in the same room as someone I didn't know.

Liath - be thinking of you on Wednesday.

Sexonreindeerlegs · 04/12/2006 20:56

Thanks ladies. Not sure who the sitter will be yet as haven't sorted it!

Liath, good luck on Wednesday.

I am sure someone was due a scan today - brain dead.

SleepInHeavenlyPesha · 04/12/2006 21:31

WeeMerryO, havent seen anything like that so wouldnt like to comment really but i can understand your point of view

SORL, think I would feel weird babysitting with someone I didnt know there but then I can be quite antisocial at times anyway so I would think it all depends on the babysitter. Is there no1 who could have your dd at their house?
Im packing both mine off this weekend to various grandparents so I can either go to this ann summers party or hopefully go out in town with some mates but not sure whats happening yet. Im definitely going out somewhere though, am determined to get myself dolled up for a night out, I'm so fed up of looking rough all the time!

Mw was very nice, saw her couple of times with ds and i think she's the mw who was passing my room when I was in labour and popped in to say hi but i was having a strong run of contractions and was inseperable from my gas and air!! She cant help with scan but gave me number to ring. Tried to listen to babys heart beat but all we could hear was my pulse and baby kicking the listening thing! But he was really kicking against her poking me so not too worried by not hearing him when I can feel him so strongly. Sorry dont mean to go on when some people on their first time not felt anything, this is my 3rd and my stomach muscles have completely given up even trying now, I look like i have a football shoved up my jumper And 21 weeks today

Oh meant to say great to hear from MIAM again

weewishyouamerryonion · 04/12/2006 21:47

pesha - LOL at splinters from the fence{fgrin. sometimes its the best place to be! glad you could feel yr bean kicking today and yep - go and get dolled up on friday night!
we r having a scottish meet up and cant wait to get the glad rags on.

love holliathandtheivy as a name. i have started to sing that song as a result!

SORL - how is the pain? any residual lightedheadedness from headstands?

Sexonreindeerlegs · 04/12/2006 21:51

Hi Pesha, the option would be my parents, but it is such a logistical faff! Sorry, sound really negative, but feel knackered and rough tonight so everything feels like a faff!
Glad the mw appointment went well.
Ann Summers!!!! I so want to go to an AS party!!

runnyhabbit · 04/12/2006 21:56

I am having a mental block with festive name. Evan dh is trying to think up one for me
Doc confirmed that I have got thrush, and have now got some cream for it (sorry tmi )
Dh has just thought of "runnyhabbitdashingthroughthesnow" very pleased with himself, but I can't imagine dashing anywhere at the moment!

AngeGabriel · 04/12/2006 21:57

RH - It's a good name though

AngeGabriel · 04/12/2006 21:58

Sorry about the thrush. I had it early on, but it seems to have gone away now.

Sexonreindeerlegs · 04/12/2006 22:00

Hi onion, never managed the headstand !!!!, but pain seems to have died down a bit - probably as I have been lying on the sofa for the last 2 hours! What a lazy moo. Off to bed now.

Sweet dreams lovely ladies and beans. xxxx
