AngeG · 29/11/2006 21:27

sorry forgot to post Autumnlover congrats on your blue bean news.

YvieE · 29/11/2006 21:36

Welcome opinionsrus
I'm also experiencing the leg cramps, but have started putting a "squeezy love" therapy pillow between my legs...DP very jealous and although i try to lie on my left side for most of the night as soon as the pain gets too much i just think bugger it and turn over to the right to give the left a break.
Definitely up for the London meet
Katy44 ROFL re: plastic trainer cup, tempted to take DP into Boots to see what he chooses
Congrats on all the scans - ladies.
Starting to feel slightly nervous but excited about mine - but still have another 2 1/2 weeks to go

WestCountryLass · 29/11/2006 21:58

1B3, I am sooooo sorry you had such an awful weekend, can you not see the boys for a month or so to give everyone a bit of space?

Congrats on your boys CK, Liath (I hope baby is just being a tinker) and AutumnLover

And congrats on your scan Katy44, SallyCinnamon, HitlipsMummy

Greengirlforever · 30/11/2006 00:17

"Did the server just go down? I was in serious danger of doing some housework" - ROFL Katy - just read that out to DH and he was not amused. He said "so I bet they haven't tidied their kitchen either..."

Have added my 10 cents to London meet thread.

Lots of congrats to WeeOnion & Autumnlover. Off to look at the stats thread then must go to bed!

hotlipsmummy · 30/11/2006 09:08

morning ladies. Hope all well - am feeling tired and achy today. Its so dark in the mornings its like getting up in the middle of the night.

Anyway hope I didn't scare too many first timers with bf horror story - I did get over it and managed to feed for 9 months in the end. Just wanted to say that its not easy and that if you are expereincing any problems then to make sure you get help. My local nct bf counsellor was a god send.

congrats on scans - still more hamburgers than sausages tho!

doghouse · 30/11/2006 09:22

Congrats WO on your hamburger and Autumnlover on your blue bean.
Funny how we are all talking about food (well, more than usual anyway!) ... saw mw on Tuesday and told her I was simply ravenous the whole time and she laughed.
Like other first timers, I plan to bf but am realistic enough (and thanks to other MNers' experience) to accept that it might just not happen through no fault of mine or bean's. There is so much pressure to do so and obviously it is great and the ideal but if it doesn't work for us (and doing formula alongside to top up doesn't work either) than I am determined not to beat myself up about it. Easy to say now I know. Nice that we will have each other to turn to though heh?

WaspElly · 30/11/2006 09:42

To add to the bf stories - I found it tremendously hard with a franticaly hungry boy constantly attached to my norks - and having an unexpected hime birth hadn't had any support in getting it all going - the first few days before my milk came in were horrid when coupled with day 3 blues. But as I've eczema & dh has asthma I really needed to persevere. It all got better - despite giving me my only stretch mark (on my boobs fgs!) and ds lasted until love at first bite (1st tooth @ 6 months).
Have to recommend a formula feed to give yourself a little longer between feeds at night! Also means that dh can get a proper bonding cuddle in too.
Hoping it's easier 2nd time round tbh but will stick with it again for same antibody reasons and hope ds won't get too jealous!

Bramshott · 30/11/2006 10:01

I bf DD for 9 months and found it surprisingly easy given that she was prem and tube-fed for a while. This time I have to go back to work much sooner (around 5 months) so I'll have to have more of a plan for tailing it off and introducing bottles etc. I'll be the one posting in the summer with the childminder all set and bean still refusing to detach from my norks!!

Greengirlforever · 30/11/2006 10:54

Good morning everyone!

Do you ladies remember my list of must-have's? I duly got the nature nest from Ebay but decided that even on Ebay the Stokke xplory pushchair was not to be as they went for at LEAST £350?

I appear to have bought one on Ebay - brand new in box from America for £132!!!!!! . With delivery it comes to £154. I can't believe this is real!

Sexonlegs · 30/11/2006 10:57

The expression norks has me pissing myself laughing!
Hope everyone is ok today.
Need to crack on with the lovely housework - joy!
Catch up later.

geordiemacminx · 30/11/2006 11:04

My brother in law bought a pair of nike air trainers from ebay.. size 9 for about £20 or something... they came.. they were a size 9...childs 9!!! it was soooooooo funny!!

Greengirlforever · 30/11/2006 11:33

Don't do that to me GMM!!! I don't think I really will believe it until it turns up on my doorstep.....

CornflakeKid · 30/11/2006 12:50

Had a traumatic afternoon yesterday - my spd has been getting a bit worse but after went to loo yesterday the pain was so bad in my side and down legs couldn't actually move - was so painful - lots of tears - was really worried there might be something wrong with baby as everyone had said the spd pain is in the middle low down. Anyway called doctors and went along (still in tears) and he referred me to Bath A&E as he had no idea really what was causing the pain - baby moving, all my signs normal just severe pain - thought it may be placenta. Luckily DH home and a neighbour came to look after the boys.

Went to A&E and was seen straight away as my doctor had called ahead and was seen by nice gynae/obs doctor who checked everything again - and it is spd - it is just very severe already - baby is fine - he did comment on the size of my bump and that he thought would be bigger than the last - dh seemed to think this was amusing!

I have been given painkillers (paracetamol/codeine) which knock me out a abit. Have been advised basically to rest - so not at work today/tomorrow and work are trying to figure out what they can give me to do that doesn't require me to walk around/do stairs.

The doctor at hosp thought that the muscles in my tummy had spasmed which caused the intense pain - and that I shouldn't panic when it happens - that it will pass - but also that I shouldnn't ignore different symptoms etc and to always call my midwife if don't feel right - he said it would be easy to put pains down to my spd so they would be careful not to do that - which was reassuring.

Have been in bed all morning, just had lunch - going back to bed. DH home this week so he is on duty with the boys! I plan to write my christmas cards and wrap presents while have quiet time to myself.

Congrats on scans weeonion and autumnlover.

1becomes3 - could you breastfeed one/bottle feed the other and alternate at each feed (sounds very complicated!) - I only know one person who tandem fed and she stayed in for 3 months basically sat on her bed!! - I'm sure its not that bad - do you have a local twins club you can join?

Need to buy some pressies online and then back to bed.

doobydoo · 30/11/2006 12:55

Love the army rucksack analogyCongrats Weeonion and Autumnlover[swmile]

My friend has just had a brilliant birth..i want one!
She had a really rough time with her first 9 years ago..this time she felt apain at one in the morning ,walked round the kitchen with the dog till 3.30..woke her dh and her son got to hosp at 5.45 and had her ds at 9.30 with gas and air.She was 6cm dialted when she got to hosp. She reckons it is because she stayed at home for quite a while.
What a fab storyI am so pleased for her.
Hope we are al ok.

doobydoo · 30/11/2006 13:02

Eek CFK..that is bad.Make sure you do as much resting as you can.My dpm is worried about mine as it seems to be getting worse. But i don't know what i could do as he is away loads and i have to ferry ds around.I will chat to docs on the 8th.The chap you saw sounds very sensible and on the ball so that is good.Enjoy yoyr festive shopping.Thank God for the internet

Smole · 30/11/2006 13:39

Hope you enjoy your rest and shopping CFK!

I got home from xmas shopping on Monday to discover our boiler smelt. I refused to go into the room until the smell had gone. Has to turn the boiler off as everytime it fired up it smelt. Sat upstairs for 2 hours - NOT HAPPY!

Turns out it needed a service and clean!!! The plumber came yesterday - its been chilly in our house. Lots of soot! All clean and non-smelly now . Just have to clean the lounge as we now have little soot deposits everywhere!

Very envious of all the scans - mines not till next week.

eca · 30/11/2006 13:50

hi folks!

Poor you CFK! Sounds a bit of a nightmare. Emergency trips to hospital are not nice! Hope that the r&r helps.

Smole - boilers are PITA when they go wrong! And it's always in winter! Glad yours is sorted now though

Congrats on scans WO and AL! Another pink and blue to add to the list! We need pink bean/blue bean emoticons!
