Morning everyone!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CornflakeKid · 29/11/2006 15:38

my ds2 was 10lbs! this one could be bigger....

bubblez · 29/11/2006 15:42

Oh, I thought that it was me and my inablity to breastfeed (or something to that effect). DD was only 5lbs 15oz and was very hungry. When I moved her on to formula she would drink a full 4oz (recomended amount was 3oz) and want more. (little piggy like her mum)

It's nice to know that there are going to be people this time round who I knw will be going through the same as me as I might need some reasurance every now and then.

Btw I'm trying to aim for 6mnths but 3mths at the very least.

bubblez · 29/11/2006 15:43

OMG CFK!!!

Bugmum · 29/11/2006 15:47

bubblez - I absolutely promise you that it was all her weight and NOTHING to do with you. Grrr - I wish these things got explained properly to poor mums

Cornflake - much respect! Bli-mey

1becomes3 · 29/11/2006 16:08

CFK-10lbs wow and oww

Just got a very strange email from my sis's house mate who works for a pregnancy mag, (apparently) I wrote a letter and won a comp! this whole pregnancy brain thing is getting a little weird now
Anyway they have asked me if I would either like to answer a questionaire with DH or have a free make-over.

I'm thinking FREE make-over I wonder if they will give me some free maternity clothes.

hotlipsmummy · 29/11/2006 16:32

No-one should ever feel bad about bf issues. It took a good 6 weeks for bf to settle down for me with DS - he was 6lb 7 at birth and i got it all totally wrong technique wise to start with, ended up with very chapped and bloody nips. Excruitating (sp?), far far worse than labour!!! Plus DS was starving so felt like he was on me constantly tugging away - it did delay bonding, briefly as I couldn't bear him near me, feeding was enough!!!
All stressful at the time but still managed to feed for 9 months in the end and fully intending to do the same again! Think women need proper support to get them through the very difficult early stages of feeding.

well done 1b3 - think make over too!

Sexonlegs · 29/11/2006 16:44

Hi ladies and congrats on the scans.
GGF - boo over your dh - I would have hit the roof with a remark like that! Honestly!
Bubblez, I only managed a week feeding dd myself. I hated it, dd hated it, and all in all we were all stressed out. So, am possibly thinking it may go along those lines again. I am certainly not going to beat myself up about it. I think there is so much pressure put on us to b/f - you just have to go with what suits you best.
The meet up in London with hotel and pool sounds lovely. I would be up for that.
God, I can't remember anything else I was going to say. Dd has been asking me to do this that and the other while reading the posts and I have forgotten everything!
Anyway, need to head as dd is driving me mad.
Hope everyone is ok and wil catch up with you later. xx

Greengirlforever · 29/11/2006 17:09

Well - DS2's nursery have just phoned to say I don't need to pay next term's fees after all and have a merry Christmas! Hurrah!

DH has just apologised for how he was this morning and we have had a virtual telephone hug. Hurrah!

With regard to bf - I found feeding DS1 (14 years ago!) very easy and DS2 (3 1/2 years ago) very hard going. They were both between 9 & 10 lbs and very hungry. I think I was more tired with DS2 and found it harder to keep up my milk supply. With DS1 I managed 14 months(!) and with DS2 I made it to 6 months and then stopped with great relief! . This time I plan to try to bf for the full 9 months of my mat leave but if it is a complete nightmare will try to hang on for at least the first 6 months. Who knows - it may be a complete doddle!

bubblez · 29/11/2006 17:23

Wohoo to ds2's nursery GGF!!

Thanks bugmum

It is very reasuring to know that other people have been through simular things and that it wasn't just 'me' or something I was doing....

eca · 29/11/2006 17:41

Hi there

I'm really hoping to bf too. But HLM's experience sounds scary! SIL is keen bf'der. Nephew is 13months and still going strong. Not sure I'll keep it up that long, but hoping for 6months at least.

hope everyone's had a good day!

Katy44 · 29/11/2006 17:49

I'd like to bf too, but was shopping with dh yesterday in Boots and decided we'd better get some bottles. He asked why as he knew I was planning to bf. I explained that if I just CAN'T, I don't want to be sending him out to buy some while I'm at home with a starving baby.
Anyway, it was a good thing I'd not done this, as when I couldn't find them, I was saying to him, can you see them anywhere? and he said 'is that not them?' pointing at some huge brightly coloured plastic trainer cups! Imagine my face if he'd come home with a pink disney princess cup to feed our starving one day old :D

eca · 29/11/2006 18:04

lol Katy at thought of you, exhausted from labour, struggling to bf being presented with pink disney cup to feed! ! I wonder what the midwife would say about that!

bubblez · 29/11/2006 18:31

lol katty

Dr brown anti colic bottles, electric breast pump and SMA gold are all on one of my lists. Esp as I am not allowed out for the two weeks after birth I need to be prepared. This way I have covered the 'just in case i give up', 'top up feed' and 'to give me a break' (that would be the breast pump).

nuttygirl · 29/11/2006 19:19

Hello and welcome newbies!

It's taken me ages to catch up and I've forgotten everything right away

ERR....

CFK - thanks for the offer re wraps, I might take you up on that.

Katy lmao @ plastic cups...just the sort of thing my DH would do!!!

Congrats to everyone on scans and hugs to everyone having a hard time @ the mo.

Hubby is out bowling tonight so am debating whether to flop in front of tv or have a bath....

Ooh...err can't remember now who asked...but yes bean is sensitive to noise. DH and I went to cinema on Sat and bean jumped around all the way through the film...think it was cos it was so loud in the cinema! It also jumps when I'm eating and when I'm trying to sleep ...think it's gonna be a little madam...

autumnlover · 29/11/2006 19:57

i feel like newbie as its been ages since my last post. hope everyone is well.

so we found out the sex of my bump ............ its a boy!!! grin]
feel like christmas has come early for me. really wanted a boy since already have 2 dds.

Sexonlegs · 29/11/2006 20:02

Autumnlover, what lovely news for you - wonderful!
Any other scans gone on today? I think weeonion was due at 7.00 tonight.

1becomes3 · 29/11/2006 20:40

Autumlover- congratulations on the blue

On the BF I did it with DD for 6 months then my milk stopped cause we never had to do any night feeds, that was enough for both of us anyway.
It did really help me to get my figure back-ish.
I have no idea how I am going to feed 2, Iknow it won't be at the same time that's for sure.
Any ideas on feeding 2?

runnyhabbit · 29/11/2006 20:49
