I feel like I can't sleep I'm so excited to find out tomorrow! I'll let y'all know a soon as I do..eeeek Grin

coffeenut · 11/08/2015 00:50

how exciting missmartin!! and so happy for you yokyil, what a relief!!!

so many little girls! Smile The vast majority of my friends have had girls too recently (or expecting). I agree about the bond thing - I feel like the best part about knowing which sex I'm having is that I feel like I know them a little bit already. I keep calling the baby "he" or "him" though, I'm def going to give it away in rl sooner or later.

I'm not a fan of nursery decoration. Not sure why. They grow out of that sort of thing so quickly ... I find all the decoration stuff a bit naff too Blush Sorry I hope that doesn't offend anyone!

re the mattresses .... I read it was a mold/spore issue (increasing risk of sids). So last time we replaced the cot mattress and moses mattress as they had been in storage and then shipped from overseas. But I don't think I will this time ... do you think that's bad? DD2 has been out of a cot since she was 1.5 yrs (so about a year). Mattress is currently wrapped in plastic (but not very tightly) and stored under a bed. We always used a mattress protector on it and same with the moses. I think it will be fine? Def not replacing the pram/carrycot mattress - it has a waterproof washable cover and we always used fresh sheets over the top. I imagine it would get bloody expensive to keep replacing these things?!

MissSMartin · 11/08/2015 06:17

I'm decorating the nursery but it's being neutral colours and either a damson pink wall or an olive green wall ..with no wallpaper/sticker things as I've made my own photo frames for the wall so everything is removable so when baby gets a bit older I can easily change up Grin ..
I have no idea re-mattresses?
I'm just buying all new..

bit or a random silly question... Are gender scans done externally or internally? I just had a dream it was internally Hmm

frozenfairy123 · 11/08/2015 06:44

loveulots good idea to check with mw. Get them to test your iron levels too.
All these teen pinks! Please throw some pink my way!! X

brickiemum2 · 11/08/2015 06:53

missm externally

MissSMartin · 11/08/2015 07:07

Oh good! Grin

SleepyDragon · 11/08/2015 08:00

Morning All

Good luck to all those with scans today!!

If anyone needs any spare iron levels, mine are off the scale - apparently an 'average' reading is around the 40-42 mark and mine is at 120 lol!

Got my next BP check this evening (6.30pm) fingers crossed its actually gone down.... last reading was 130/110 last Tuesday.

also - really random question but..... has anyone found their knickers are starting to get uncomfortable? i have a couple of pairs that are starting to, errrm, rub, the inside/top of my leg/groin Blush

Yokyil · 11/08/2015 08:07

Sleepy mine are starting to leave marks when I take them off...definitely time to go buy some new ones Confused Primark will do rightly

Boosiehs · 11/08/2015 08:11

Hello all. Well after some weeks of worry we got all our test results back and it's all low risk. 1:10000 for any of the chromosomal disorders, which was a real risk given DH's cancer treatments over the past few years. And we found or that we are team Blue! I am destined only to be mother of boys clearly! This will be DS2.

Desperately trying to think of potential names, we have a weird surname and picked our only agreed on name for DS1!

So please and so pleased for all of you!

Next stop anomaly scan on 11th Sept. X

mrschatty · 11/08/2015 08:12

Re- nursery decor we are repainting the room white (it's already white just a freshen up) having a green wall I'm thinking olive or sage colour and then we're having a jungle/ safari theme in honour of our Africa trip this year! DH thinks it's a bit 'boyish...' I told him that as a sociology graduate I disagree with his view and girls can like safari and jungle too!!!
Good luck for scans today

mrschatty · 11/08/2015 08:13

X postboosie that's great news congratulations

Boosiehs · 11/08/2015 08:14

MissSMartin · 11/08/2015 08:15

Oysterbabe · 11/08/2015 08:18

Welcome Boo we're scan date buddies. Can't wait to see the baby again!

Boosiehs · 11/08/2015 08:19

Thanks very much!!

I am a little sad that I will never have a little girl. I have so many handbags to pass on! However I have a niece and she will get the benefit of them. :)

A house full of boys. Oh lord!!

Boosiehs · 11/08/2015 08:20

That was the good thing about the harmony test, I get even more pictures of the puffling! :)

melonface · 11/08/2015 08:23

Morning. well I had a terrible night of dizzyness, racing pulse and chest pains so I'm off to GP this morning Sad Feel a bit silly as I'm at the midwife tomorrow but didn't feel like I could leave it. Any ideas what it could be? I wondered about blood pressure?

SleepyDragon · 11/08/2015 08:25

MrsChatty both DH and i are in love with some dinosaur decal stickers we've seen (cutesy dinosaurs not big scary ones!) and are toying with the idea of having those (our spare room come nursery is also white)

SIL is a bit 'its very boyish' but we disagree and think its just very 'child' - ish (for want of a better phrase)

Hopefully we'll find out the sex on 27th August.....

loveulotslikejellytots · 11/08/2015 08:34

Melon - that does sound like blood pressure. Ring the gp and see what they say. They may advise you to wait and see you mw, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Boosiehs · 11/08/2015 08:36

Definitely go to the GP melon. Better to be safe etc.

tinyme135 · 11/08/2015 08:48

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's pants are hurting them. I've gone from being small and petite to having to go up 2 sizes as they're more comfortable

Brooke113 · 11/08/2015 09:15

Good luck today Miss Martin it's dc1 isn't it?

Our scan isn't until almost 7pm and somebody is going to be in a grump in our house as dd, the oldest would like a little sister and DS, a little brother. I'm happy either way :)

lilyb84 · 11/08/2015 09:24

Great news boo and congrats on a second DS Smile

melon I hope you get some advice and reassurance from the GP and that you're feeling better soon.

Yes to uncomfy knickers! Definitely appreciating my more, ahem, comfortable pairs right now...

Felt terrible yesterday to the point that I pretty much cried all the way through my CBT session (not overly helpful for the poor therapist!) and then on and off for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Terrible headache, back/hip pain and generally just feeling weak and crappy. Managed to get up early and made it to my train to meetings out of London though so small victories!

Good luck with the scan MissMartin and anyone else I've missed...! Do you have a feeling either way for boy or girl?

SleepyDragon · 11/08/2015 09:57

Oh i am so glad i asked about knickers!!! Grin

I had to take them off halfway through the night last night (apologies TMI) and poor DH thought his luck was in LOL!!!

Melon the dizziness and and palpitations could certainly be low BP but if you had a chest pain with it i would definitely see your GP as that is more related to pregnancy tachycardia (irregular heart rhythm) x

melonface · 11/08/2015 10:13

Thanks all. My blood pressure is low, waiting to see the nurse now for some bloods to check my iron levels. (Who was it that said they had iron to spare?!)
