Jade I'm in a similar position re cot mattress, my son is nearly 3, will be 3.5 when baby #2 arrives. He is still in his cotbed with the sides off at the moment but baby will be in with us in a bedside crib for a few months and I think he'll be ready to move to a big bed by the time baby needs a cot. The SIDS guidelines recommend a new mattress for subsequent children but we bough a really good mattress and DS is so light I do feel it's a waste. I'm leaning towards replacing it though.

Have the same with Moses Basket which I'm really learning towards not replacing because he was only in it for a few months and it's practically brand new. Same for pram mattress (our has a proper mattress as it's designed for overnight sleeping).

Lastly almost same issue again(!) for the bedside crib which is BILs and SILs, again only used for a few months by DNiece. Feels a bit different since its a different child, not my son so am undecided on that one. Potentially a lot of mattresses to replace!!!

Thanks all for the stretch mark lotions and potions recommendations! Logically I know it's probably all genetic (in which case I'm screwed as Mum had loads and I have been prone to them whenever I've gained weight), but am almost certainly going to chuck some Bio Oil on anyway and hope for the best Smile

Reading the experiences of Hypnobirthing has been interesting, it's not something I'd really considered. Like others I'm tempted to give it a go now!

Welcome Jade (ahh your DD is adorable!) - I really hope it's not bad luck as I've already got a pile of baby clothes stashed upstairs and we started painting the nursery yesterday!

Yokyil Fingers well and truly crossed here, I hope that all's well.

I felt a bit of a pop last night and then one slightly lower, but doubt very much it was baby making itself known as one was just above my bellybutton and one was a tiny bit below which seems far too high for 16 weeks. Seeing the midwife on Weds so hoping I'll get to hear the heart beat!

JadeMarie123 · 10/08/2015 12:34

Loveulotslikejellytots hi I suffer with low blood pressure on a long term basis.. I take steroids but can't take them while pregnant it's horrible.. Best thing is up your salt intake drink double what you normally would on days your feeling faint and if you feel like your about to pass out and haven't got a chair or anything just crouch down as if your tiring up a shoe lace x

Lookingforadvice123 · 10/08/2015 13:51

Thanks ladies but it's loveulots who has low BP not me hehe! Is there anything the doc can recommend for it?

kep1979 · 10/08/2015 13:59

loveulots my bp is low too, just been told to drink loads of water and not get up too quickly. And I am trying to up salt intake too, and snack in case it is made worse by low blood sugar. It does suck!

mrschatty · 10/08/2015 14:48

jade welcome Smile I'm 17w today were pretty close. I've got loads of baby stuff cotbed crib matresses clothes blankets travel system and just bought the wall stickers for nursery I'm not supersticious!!

HR meeting canceled again today...third time. Reschedule for tomorrow not holding my breath Hmm

Well we're all surviving another Monday.... my family have all gone back home from visiting for a week I'm deviststed could cry again niw thinking about it. They are coming down (300miles) for new year but I can't wait that long. I'm going to book a long weekend oct/Nov and get a train to see them. Feeling emosional at the mo(must nit cry at work...again...)

mrschatty · 10/08/2015 14:49

I'm silly...I'm 17+1!

impatientlywaiting · 10/08/2015 15:03

Nightfall, the info I heard was that it wasn't so much the time that people used a mattress for why it should be replaced, but more the length of time that it's in storage between babies when it's collecting dust which they can breathe in which is a potential SIDS risk in which case I would consider keeping the cot bed mattress, but would definitely replace the Moses basket mattress as that won't have been used for some time.

loveulotslikejellytots · 10/08/2015 15:03

Thanks for the tips, I'll try and drink more water, I already drink loads and it feels like I'm forever on the loo! I'll also try adding a bit more salt, I'm guessing it's not much you need.

Talking of buying things I've only bought a few neutral outfits, that's it really. We have our 20 week scan on Saturday, once I know everything is ok ( and we can hopefully find out the sex) I'll start picking up bigger items. I think we've decided on most things, just got to buy them!

frozenfairy123 · 10/08/2015 16:30

loveulots I had that problem last oregnancy and the consultant told me to drink coffee too. Personally I wouldn't drink too much water as u will wash all your salts away so just drink a normal amount. If your bp is low then it is best to take showers sitting down. Any length of standing will mean blood pools in your legs so try to do calf raises to pump your muscles. Xxx

loveulotslikejellytots · 10/08/2015 17:26

Thanks for that frozen. Maybe I'll give my mw a call tomorrow then. I don't want to do the wrong thing, but I don't want to feel like this if I don't have to. I feel so tired/lethargic!

Brooke113 · 10/08/2015 17:28

Hope everything is OK yokyil

Had some horrible cramps again today, right in my woman area, like a pinching feeling inside, horrible :(

Miss Martin we've got our gender scan tomorrow too, what time is yours? Ours isn't until 7:55 after dp finishes work, I'm quite nervous tbh

Yokyil · 10/08/2015 17:37

Back from midwife - took a wee bit of time to find the heartbeat with the Doppler...but 128 bpm was battering away! Was so relieved.
No urine infection, so it's either muscles being pushed out, babas lying on bladder or bowel to cause the discomfort possibly. Can't pinpoint it - but just have to keep any eye if the cramps get worse or if I get anymore discharge or blood

Blackandwhitecat3 · 10/08/2015 17:37

That's too cute Sleepy.

Anyone else craving dairy at the moment. Yoghurt, milk, ice cream, milkshake, cheese.... I've just emptied the fridge! Grin

Sweetpea80 · 10/08/2015 17:38

Evening everyone.

Yokyil hope you've been checked over and all is ok. It's very worrying no matter which stage you are at during pregnancy.

Brooke & Miss Martin v exciting about your gender scans tomorrow. We have our second shot at our gender scan tonight. Not feeling hopefully after out unsuccessful attempt last week. Fx baby is in the right position this time.

No one in RL knows we are getting the scan & we are keeping it a secret until baby arrives but at least I can share team blue or pink on here.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 10/08/2015 17:38

Haitch35 · 10/08/2015 17:59

Thanks impatiently. I was going to ask why mattresses need replacing. If it's been well wrapped up in plastic it should be okay, shouldn't it? I mean, it can't have gathered dust? My sister has offered us a moses basket that's practically new, only used 3 or 4 times, so I was thinking we wouldn't need to get a new mattress as long as it's been stored wrapped up.

16+2

MissSMartin · 10/08/2015 18:18

haitch you can get a new moses basket matresses from kiddiecare for less than a tenner.. Just incase you change your mind Smile
