All this talk of who has their birthday first as a mum got me thinking. I'll either be first or last - my due date is two days before my birthday. My brother's birthday is the day before mine (I met him for the first time on my 6th birthday). We like January babies in this family.

Bit jealous of all the movement talk. I'm 19+4 and I've not had anything that was definitely baby. And my scan isn't for another week and a half. Aaaah impatience!

mrschatty · 17/08/2015 13:19

edgar we also like jan bday dh his brother and our niece a jan now new baby too I'm hoping it doesn't fall on DN bday but a week atleast between. Don't care about dh or bil ha.
jade baby will be fine. We'll cushioned in there...
I've definitely started feeling movements last night! Like popcorn popping inside my belly!
melon sorry about work issues Sad
I've been told today I've been seconded to another department indefinitely. Asked how long for 'weeks and weeks' excellent communication guys!Hmm

DotterP · 17/08/2015 13:41

Hello! Just added myself to the spreadsheet and wanted to say a quick hello. Currently 16+6 with my first pregnancy, and have been finding these pages incredibly helpful and reassuring as it is all very new to me. Nice to know we are all going through similar things.

Had my 16 week check last week and got to hear the heartbeat which was lovely. Haven't felt anything I can definitively say is movement yet, but I have an anterior placenta so expecting it to be a while. My bump feels huge, a colleague at work is almost bang on my dates, and she isn't showing at all yet! I'm only 5ft, so I'm telling myself it's because baby has nowhere to grow but outwards.

Getting comfortable at night is suddenly a problem, which is something I wasn't expecting this early - the hip pain has been a surprise 'bonus' pregnancy symptom. Hmm And I've had several attacks of what I presume is round ligament pain when moving around/getting out of bed - wow they are painful! Otherwise, just counting down the days to our 20 week scan now.

tinyme135 · 17/08/2015 14:43

Hello dotter we're here to listen and moan with you :)

It's lovely hearing the heartbeat isn't it, I cried when the mw found it straight away. I was like it's my little baby. My flesh and blood in there waiting to come out and see me....omg I'm getting teary just thinking about it haha.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 17/08/2015 15:04

Welcome dotter

loveulots sounds like you have a proper yogi in there! So cute.

I feel like I've just emptied JoJoMamanBebe of clothes. Felt like I was being really extravagant but in reality I've spent £196 and have three skirts, three tops and a dress - a proper capsule work wardrobe! One of the skirts is plain black and so I should be able to wear nearly everything with it. Now need to go through my existing work clothes and divide them into "can wear while pregnant" and "definitely can't wear while pregnant"!

While I was in there I saw this which made my heart melt.....but I resisted!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 17/08/2015 15:05

Dotter I've recently bought a dreamgenii (£20 off in tkmaxx) and this afternoon's mission is to buy a cheap single duvet to go under me at night. I'm determined to get comfortable and to put some extra padding under my hips!

Now I sound like a proper shopaholic Hmm

jmac88 · 17/08/2015 15:23

So would anybody who has felt movement describe it as a tickle feeling behind the belly button?

lilyb84 · 17/08/2015 15:39

Welcome dotter and congratulations! I have my 16 week appt in two days and have all my fingers and toes crossed for hearing the hb... I'm also in a bit of pain at night, got a pillow for between my legs but am going to need some more options soon. And I'll second that ouch for round ligament pain - I'm getting it mostly when stretching / straightening up and bloody hell, it's like lightning in there!

moonshine25 · 17/08/2015 15:53

Welcome dotter! We do love a chat on here and are always here to listen Smile

Jmac I'd describe it as bubbles to start off with and then butterflies and now I'm feeling like pulsing movements if that makes sense? Really difficult to describe but once you feel it there's no mistaking it! DH felt it the other day and described it a pulse too.

Oh all this talk of clothes shopping is making me jealous - I live in Northern Scotland and there's no good shops here but back in York next weekend so going to have a look then - excited!!

Also on the bra front, some of my mummy friends recommended to me sports bras for every day and my, are they comfortable! Gone up to an E now after being a D and tescos had some xl sports bras in so I bought a couple. Really comfy and feel quite supported. Sorry it's not so helpful to those of you with bigger boobs than me but thought I'd share for the rest.

18 weeks today!

moonshine25 · 17/08/2015 15:55

Ps sorry to hear of those struggling with pain at night. Can you self refer to the physio for help?

Also whilst I think about it, how many pelvic floor exercises is everyone doing a day? I'm not sure I'm doing enough and have to keep reminding myself to do them!

AlohaMama · 17/08/2015 15:56

welcome dotter.

blackandwhite maternity clothes shopping is annoying expensive, but there's no getting away from it. be careful when looking through existing clothes - I wore a few things as they seemed to fit fine during pregnancy and only after realised I'd stretched them and I could no longer wear them aftewards. Which is fine if you're happy to sacrifice them and wear them in future pregnancies but not if it is things you want to keep nice.

tinyme135 · 17/08/2015 15:58

I'm investing in a maternity pillow from babies r us and once the little one is born you can fold it in a way it becomes a cushion to feed on and when they can hold their own head up turns into a little seat for them to play on

Blackandwhitecat3 · 17/08/2015 16:01

Aloha I actually thought that was really reasonable Smile, slightly cheaper than M&S normal clothes, which is my benchmark (I don't really buy much in cheaper places like primark or new look. I've a feeling I will be stocking up on staples (vests, leggings etc.) in new look though!

Thanks for the tip about normal clothes - someone else mentioned it to me before and I have already been through my fave winter clothes and jumpers and stashed them carefully in the loft so I don't get tempted....

One last thought, which I know will strike a chord with some of you:
"Bavarian smoked cheese, where have you been all my life?"

FizzyPinkWine · 17/08/2015 16:48

Teenie, would you be able to update my stats please? My due date is now 5th jan and I've got my 20 week scan on 21st August. Thanks.
Great news about scans over the last few days. So exciting! Can't wait for mine on Friday. Has anyone else had to bring an older child with them to their scan? We are going to have to take our 3yo DS on Friday as no childcare. I'm sure it will be ok, I think I'm just worrying in case there are any problems. How did anyone else find it?

19+6

AlohaMama · 17/08/2015 16:50

fizzypink_ we had to take our 2yo and 4yo to our scan though hospital said it wasn' recommend it. neitehr of them got anything out of it and it meant that dh had to concentrate on looking after them rather than fully engaging in the scan, but if you can't get childcare, that's what you have to do. maybe bring an ipad??!

kep1979 · 17/08/2015 17:00

Oooh now I must have some Bavarian smoked cheese - I love it!! Think that will be my Brie substitute when I'm in France in two weeks - and maybe roule too as it is pasteurised.

jmac88 · 17/08/2015 17:17

Oh god moon I'm hardly doing any. Literally just when I remember probably a couple of times a week. And then I just do about 15. I find them really annoying

SleepyDragon · 17/08/2015 17:24

Thanks Looking today's went ok, just a full day tomorrow to do now... 9 interviews Envy

JMac a tickly light popping sensation is how I think of it when it happens!

Also - Welcome Dotter

18+4 Wink

mrschatty · 17/08/2015 17:37

Welcome dotter
teenie I've had my pregnancy pillow a few weeks absolute bargain from amazon...About 4£.
I think I'm having braxton hicks. Tight stomach not painful more like the uncomfortable feeling of needing a wee or wind what do you think?

SleepyDragon · 17/08/2015 17:57

Ooooh also, today's craving, smooth peanut butter on crusty bread...

Just had 2 slices and had to force myself to stop!!

tinyme135 · 17/08/2015 18:05

Omg I think I'm going shopping on amazon tonight for one, that's really cheap.

I've been craving sausage sandwiches with brown sauce and Dr pepper. So naughty I know

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 17/08/2015 18:06

B&W and kep My parents have just got back from a holiday around the Cheddar Gorge area and came round with some smoked cheddar cheese. Can't wait to get that down me!

Also thanks for the bra advice! Plenty of choice out there but it's difficult to know what will suit my needs in reality!

I had a look for that heartbeat app on my android phone and couldn't find it. Are there any good alternatives?

SleepyDragon · 17/08/2015 18:07

Tiny I ended up eating just that (minue the Dr Pepper* nearly every morning for breakfast last week... I justified it by saying as it was from Greggs the sausages were baked not fried so were healthier

And baby clearly needed them

Lol!

mrschatty · 17/08/2015 18:08

maybe mine is a Samsung what kind of phone do you have...It doesn't bloody work btw

SleepyDragon · 17/08/2015 18:10

Ooooh B&W we went to Cheddar Gorge when I was about 7wks and I bought tons of their pasteurised gorge cured cheddar.... It is the most delicious cheese EVER!!!

(Apart from chèvre of course)
