Congrats on team pink Nightfall. Lovely news.

brickiemum2 · 14/08/2015 06:08

sleepy just watch that your pins and needles in the ankles doesn't turn into swelling x

ValancyJane · 14/08/2015 07:30

night Congratulations on team pink!

I can't get OH into OBEM really, I have tried. But I can't complain as he is avidly reading his pregnancy book at the moment during breaks at work, and keeps coming home and telling me things. He has read that painting is out (I'm pretty sure there's no research done and they just advise not to during the first trimester) but sadly it means I won't be able to help him finish painting the nursery this weekend. Oh darn..

Very nearly had a proper crazy pregnant woman meltdown at Specsavers yesterday, of all places! Eye test was fine, picked out some frames (fine), and then went through a right faff of having to sit with a stupid plastic thing on the frames and have a photo taken on their bloody iPad when I have no make up on and look rubbish "because it's all clever and measures x, y and z" - which would have been fine if it hadn't crashed 3 times in the process! And THEN the bloody guy looks at me and goes "are you SURE you want these frames? They really are a bit big for your face." I explained that I found the thin lenses suited my face shape better, and there were only three pairs I'd liked in the whole shop, and he kept uhming and aahing and going "but do you LOVE them? Are you certain? You have such a narrow face, you really don't want to try anything else?" I actually started to well up, seriously thought I was going to cry and very nearly snapped at him "I just want to fucking pay for the bloody glasses go home!" It's the first time I've properly felt reeeeeally hormonal!!! I'm not normally like that Blush

kep1979 · 14/08/2015 07:47

I want dh to watch some of the sections on OBEM so he is prepared for mine BUT so far the spinals all seem to wear off and they end up with GA. Surely the odds are low! So I don't want him to watch that as he will freak out and they are making me really nervous about it even though I've had two in the past. Rant over Smile

In other news my middle of the night wee seemed to be a signal to Bean to wake up and play for ages, so I couldn't go back to sleep. I didn't mind cause it is amazing feeling her but now I'm shattered!

18 weeks today (yay)

MissSMartin · 14/08/2015 07:59

aww valancy x
kep bless! ... I know. . I feel like when I feel baby move that I need to stop whatever I'm doing and pay attention to her.. I must admit I bloody love it especially at work when I feel a bit down she cheers me up and keeps me entertained Grin
I'm just having a little relax before work and she's wriggling around like crazy.. im pretty surprised with how much movement I feel as it's my first and it's still pretty early!

yay! 17w today every Friday is my little mile stone and my bumpie day lol..

Have a lovely day everyone Grin

Oysterbabe · 14/08/2015 08:17

I still haven't felt any movement.

AlohaMama · 14/08/2015 08:25

Don't worry oyster still quite early but it's nice when it starts!

Have consultant appointment today. I assume it's about the ovarian cyst but mw couldnt' remember why she referred me Hmm. Seems a bit funny as I've got a scan in 10 days and would have thought it would make more sense to wait till after that. Oh well, we'll see what she has to say.

I've watched OBEM but not the preemie one, not sure if I can face that. The only thing about watching it is it has slightly reinforced me fear of a CS. Narrowly avoided one with DS, had relatively quick birth with DD so hoping this one will be nice and straightforward. I find the anticipation of the pain of labour much less scary than the thougth of lying awake on an operating table, and yes watching the laides on OBEM where the spinal has worn off has not helped.

ValancyJane · 14/08/2015 08:39

Miss I'm 17 weeks today too, love waking up on Friday mornings and checking the app on my phone to find out what fruit/vegetable of the week it is on the size comparison! You're lucky you're feeling so much movement already, I haven't felt anything yet.

I've been meaning to ask this all week, is anyone else finding that they're waking up really early at the moment? I normally can sleep in until 9am on a weekend or holiday, on work mornings OH has to make me a coffee and shout up to remind me of the time as I am just that bad at getting up! (He and my Mum once traded stories about getting me up in the mornings! Blush) However for the last couple of weeks I'm just wide awake at 5am and cannot get back to sleep at all, is anyone else finding this at the moment?!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 14/08/2015 08:44

Valancy I went through a spell of waking up early several weeks back, but now, I could sleep for Britain between the hours of 7-9. Takes me ages to surface.

lilyb84 · 14/08/2015 08:58

Valancy and Miss snap - 17 weeks today here too!

No movements here either but hoping for some soon.

Oysterbabe · 14/08/2015 09:04

I keep walking up super early and struggling to get back to sleep. 3am today Hmm
Plus I always wake with a horrible sour taste in my mouth.

moonshine25 · 14/08/2015 09:15

Me too with the sour taste oyster! Yuk!

tinyme135 · 14/08/2015 09:23

I vary I can sleep all day one day then the next I'm waking an hour up before my alarm. So not nice. I love Sundays as it's one of my old days off and it's the start of another week for me so this Sunday I'm 19 weeks. At the moment, this little one is the size of a sweet potato haha.

update on my surgery case the ccg phoned me yesterday but missed the call so phoned them back this morning and they're sorry that a surgery under their watch has disclosed my details to another person and they're going higher for me too. Looks like it's going somewhere.

coffeenut · 14/08/2015 09:27

I feel like I have a sour taste all the time - I get really paranoid that I have bad breath and have been sucking peppermints whenever I have to see anyone!

valancy I would have lost it at the specsavers guy!

One week now until my 20 week scan. Bit nervous. I've been getting bad cramps and pains right under my bump around waistband level. Trying to work out whether it's wind or being bound up, or ovarian pain or growing pains or what. Trying not to worry basically!

coffeenut · 14/08/2015 09:29

That's great tiny - my one thought about it all is don't get too caught up in it, it's the last thing you need stressing you out on top of everything else. If it goes somewhere, great, if not, at least the GP has been put on warning.

SleepyDragon · 14/08/2015 09:29

Morning all,

Sorry for creating a rush on Brownies last night lol!

I think Bumble definitely liked them as (S)He stayed awake for ages when I went to bed, so much so I really couldn't get comfy at one point!

Brickie thanks for the warning, I'll keep an eye out!

melonface · 14/08/2015 10:16

Morning everyone. I am being very unhealthy and pumping myself full of sugar to try and get baby to wiggle, she was very active on Wednesday but don't think I felt her move yesterday. The movements are so small it's really hard to tell what's her and what's my clothes shifting!

We're off on a joint hen and stag weekend and im already worried about getting no sleep! Got my Shloer at the ready and considering taking my slippers seeing as it appears to be winter outside!

loveulotslikejellytots · 14/08/2015 10:17

coffeenut I've had the same. I'm never sure if it's stretching, wind or I need the loo Blush. It seems worse at night after I've been at work all day, but that might just be because I'm tired.

I keep waking early, but only at weekends Angry. I could have slept for England this morning.

Still, scan tomorrow morning!!!!!! Buzzing!!!

ValancyJane · 14/08/2015 10:20

At least it's not just me with the ridiculous early starts, black you've given me hope that I might get a few more lie ins before I go back to work!

tiny I'm glad they're taking your complaint seriously, that incident never should have happened.

coffee and oyster Know what you mean about the sour taste, I'm brushing my teeth about four times a day!

Lookingforadvice123 · 14/08/2015 10:32

Ah aloha forgot you were my cyster! I had my consultant appt re the cyst at about 15 weeks, she was very nice but it was clearly just a procedural thing they have to do - she took my BP, asked if I had any pain due to the cyst, looked at my blood results from the dating scan eg iron levels, said that they will look again at the size of the cyst at my 20 week scan and that she was happy to sign me off from consultant lead to midwife lead! I did get to hear the baby's heartbeat on the Doppler though, don't know what that had to do with the cyst but it was a nice bonus! At my scan at EPAU a few weeks ago they couldn't see the cyst at all, but we shall see again at my 20 week scan on Monday Confused

valancy I tend to wake up at 4am or 5am most mornings. Really annoying especially if I have work that day as it takes me ages to fall back to sleep, sometimes I don't if it's 5am. Good practice I guess!

kep1979 · 14/08/2015 10:46

coffee my scan is next Friday too Smile And I am having all sorts of pulling pains under bump, mostly on the right hand side, but I assume it is just stretching.

Ladies I need a virtual hand hold - got a call today with my boss (he is working from home) to discuss my concerns about the proposed change of line management. What I REALLY want to say is "stick your job, it sucks, I quit"....... but obviously can't say that! I also want to say "why would I be happy working for X, he has less experience/qualifications/technical knowledge than me - but he is a man! And you just want an easy life and to not have to manage anybody!" Again, likely to make things worse not better. Am also petrified about bursting into tears as massively hormonal, and even when I'm not the waterworks tend to happen when I am angry and trying to make a point, and boy I am livid. How dare work make me feel so stressed!!!!

And breathe............

SleepyDragon · 14/08/2015 11:10

Kep daft as it sounds, write down a list of the points like that that you want to bring up then you've got s visual reminder if you can feel it going off track or if you feel your hormones kicking in. It might help focus the call as you already know he's going to want to take charge when you just want answers.

Whoever said waking early, my bladder has become a 4:20am alarm clock!

mrschatty · 14/08/2015 11:22

Waking up early! No way. I can't get up and takes about an hour for me to sort my attitude out. My colleague has brought in loads of sugary sweets today had sugar rush by 10am ha
Still no movements Sad I'm 17+5
My mum is bringing home a doppler from work to reassure me on Tues. Heard hb last week but still wish could feel a wriggle!!

loveulotslikejellytots · 14/08/2015 11:35

Mrschatty Dont worry, i'm 20 weeks, i've not felt much, nothing I could say was definitely baby. Possibly wind or a twinge, but I haven't had a definite kick as such. I woulnd't worry, they are so cushioned in there and dont forget depending on where your placenta is growing, that can also mask feelings.

And any excuse to hear their heart beat is a good one!

brickiemum2 · 14/08/2015 12:02

I've also got my scan next Friday....there are a few of us.
Quite often when I'm using my Doppler I can hear baby's movements and kicks swooshing about. I can only feel a tiny percentage of those and I think even then I'm feeling a lot of movement for 19w. This is my third though. Baby moves a massive amount that you can't feel. I'm up at 4.45am every day as that's when dh' s alarm goes off for work and I can't sleep through it Angry
