jmac I've had all sorts of stomach pains/sensations this week Confused had cramping on Mon night and called the Antenatal Assessment Centre but they weren't helpful at all. Hoping it's just part of pregnancy.

Aw congrats night on the girl! And you'll have to update us all on her op once she's here. When is your due date?

How do so many of you have less time left in work than me??!!! I'm taking 2 weeks annual leave before Christmas shutdown, plus I'm due on 2nd Jan, yet I have more weeks left than most of you! No fair. Are you all finishing when you're not so far along? I'm planning on working up until 37 weeks.

AlohaMama · 13/08/2015 15:48

congrats on your girl nightfall. That's great that the heart issues won't affect her birth, and good that you are able to be prepared now for the future operations etc. I hope you're getting good support.

well i just bought the snuzpod, reduced at mothercare at the moment - not massively but enough to make me think i may as well just get it. Just need to find somewhere to store it for the next 4/5 months! also took the advantage of shopping to buy myself some maternity PJs, jumper and yoga pants - the last of which i am massively looking forward to. I just want 1 pair of total comfies that I can wear all the time at home!!

Whoever was commenting about pants earlier - I think I bought new pants from M&S in next size up about a month ago - haven't looked back Smile. Shame the new bras I bought at the same time, I grew out of about 2 weeks later!

lilyb84 · 13/08/2015 15:54

looking I've still got 22 weeks left! Although not due until 22 Jan (and that's not taking into account leave / Christmas, if I actually manage to get any time off...).

Also romeo my 20 week scan isn't until the 15 Sep, so a day after yours - I'm 16+6. Only five weeks but feels like a long time!

Haven't noticed any movements or BH, and while I'm now 'showing' I think most of it's still fat tbh. I'm quite a slim size 8/10 normally but definitely a bit of a spare tyre going on... good to finally feel a bit pregnant though!

night congrats on the girl - I hope your DS will be excited to get a little sister! And do keep us updated on her surgery - glad to hear that at least it won't be an issue for the first few weeks/months Smile

loveyoulots I'm not big on gooey either - I'm really happy and excited but in a sort of quiet, practical way. I thought I'd be a bit more emotional actually but I'm clearly just not that sort of person! I think DH does soppy enough for both of us Grin

sleepy we've been embarrassingly calling each other mummy and daddy for years - for our cats. So I think saying it to your bump is perfectly acceptable! I've been talking to it occasionally but tbh keep forgetting - I think when I start feeling him or her moving it'll make it all seem a bit more real...

kep1979 · 13/08/2015 16:36

Oops... 17+6

loveulotslikejellytots · 13/08/2015 16:58

I'm glad i'm not the only one lilyb84.

aloha I've been living in yoga pants for a few weeks, they are so comfy. I can see me still wearing them when this one starts school! Grin

Looking we're due the same day, i'm finishing at 38 weeks (hopefully) on 23rd December. I've got 82 working days left and I do a standard 5 day week. I've got 9 (working) days off in September. It's probably not as long as you think if you count it in working days! In weeks i've got about 18 weeks left at work! Thats made me irrationally happy!

kep1979 · 13/08/2015 17:11

Hmmm I posted a long message and it has disappeared! I was just cheering myself up with the fact that it sounds less in days - got 87 working days left until Christmas Eve Smile

Have had achy pains in the right side of my bump, v low down - I assume Bean is jumping on a nerve as it can be quite sharp. Ouchy.

Had day off today with my boys, have spent most of the day playing monopoly with my youngest, thankfully I eventually lost....... Am now quickly colouring my hair (you know your roots are horrific when the cleaner asks when you are having your hair done lol) and will then shellac my nails and prepare dinner. Domestic goddess lol

Blackandwhitecat3 · 13/08/2015 17:44

After all the talk about working weeks left, I calculated it.......I have 13.5 weeks! (Well I also have to do lots of work over the next three weeks as well, but it made me feel good). Mind you, I'm exhausted after just two days!

I think I'll be buying some new pants soon too.

BeeMyBaby · 13/08/2015 18:03

I wear quite low rise stretchy pants/shorts so luckily have no problems with size.

Had my 16 (17) week appointment today but it's difficult to believe I won't see the mw again until the end of October.

nightfall that's lovely that you are on team pink and reassuring that the doctor thinks the heart will be fixed within a year. My cousin had a baby with a chromosomal disorder (not DS) but they didn't realise until after the baby was born and overall it took until she was about 3 to get the heart surgery she needed.

tinyme135 · 13/08/2015 18:08

I'm planning on leaving on Christmas Eve. So I do all the big rush then get to rest over the holidays and the new year.

dinosaurdaughter · 13/08/2015 18:11

night congratulations on your little girl and it's good to hear that she is doing well and her heart will be fixed within a year.
I have 17 weeks left at work but have a budget and an audit to get through first and my cover to train so I'm panicking slightly.
Sorry I'm going to moan had niggling pain on my left side all day and also have thrush so not feeling great. Went to the pharmacy but they wouldn't sell me canesten so I must look rather obviously pregnant. Luckily I was able to get a doctors appointment and get it on prescription for free so not so bad in the end. Sorry moan over otherwise all is well but I agree with what others have found my pants are definitely getting too tight!

SleepyDragon · 13/08/2015 18:15

Glad I'm not the only one talking to/singing to bump!

I just put the Brownies in the oven and had a sneaky lick of the spoon (too hard to resist) now Bumble is going mad! Must be all the cocoa!

I'm leaving work on Xmas Eve, Eve (23rd!) but we have a few random days off and a long wknd away between now and then.
EDD is 14 Jan but I just don't want to go back between Xmas and then so am using annual leave to stay off.

MissSMartin · 13/08/2015 19:06

Me too sleepy 23rd Grin

I don't know what has happened but I've become imobelised since dinner time. . I've got pain in my right hand side lower back(mainly) then my hip, bum.. hamstring and calf.. it's hurting me so much it's reduced me to tears.. I can't move off the couch now.. I look like a old lady! I can't even get up to walk.. I don't know what to do Sad

kep1979 · 13/08/2015 19:07

sleepy i'm doing the same, edd is 15 Jan but already booked off between Christmas and New Year and then using holidays for first week. The section will probably be around 8 Jan so should work out fine, unless she fancies an early arrival.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 13/08/2015 19:23

MissM that sounds like either sciatica or a trapped nerve, but I'm not sure what to advise. Maybe try some (gentle) heat e.g. Hot water bottle? Hope it eases soon.

jmac I was very excited about your link, but I can't do anything without a username/password and can't get to another part of the site to register. Any ideas? Thanks

lilyb84 · 13/08/2015 19:34

MissMartin agree with b&w, try alternating between heat and cold (hot water bottle and ice pack or frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel). A gentle stretch if you can manage it might help as well - you can find exercises online recommended for sciatica and lower back pain. Hope it doesn't lay you up for too long!

Just did a yoga class at work and the normal instructor was away. Her replacement was INTENSE. I'm completely knackered but at least it was some exercise - albeit very painful... Shock

MissSMartin · 13/08/2015 20:13

thanks! I'm gna try a hot(warm) bath and see if that helps.. I've never heard of siatica.. im gna Google it now! dp has tried streching out my leg for me and has tried massaging my back and bum Blush lol. It's excruciating.

dinosaurdaughter · 13/08/2015 20:25

missm another thing that might help when you go to bed sleep on the opposite side to where it hurts. It should help stretch out the muscles and ease the pain. Hope you feel better soon.
Another one finishing work a week before Xmas and taking annual leave. Due date isn't until 12th jan but want some time off before baby comes and luckily have quite a lot of leave accrued. Hmm thinking about brownies now sleepy

Wynsey · 13/08/2015 21:21

I'm so jealous of everyone who's getting kicks. It's a waiting game every day waiting for me to feel
Something. So excited!!
After my moans about DH going out - he gutted the house today and it was spotless for me coming home, he went out to see his friend who's going back to Oz. He then ordered me a delivery and came home with 2 packets of Haribo!! So....happy!! Need to stop being a grumpy pregnant woman! Grin
My 20 week scan is 9th Sept. Can't wait!
My next midwife apt is 26th when I'm 18 weeks. Fx she lets me listen to the heartbeat!
Me and DH have watched OBEM - i expected him to say yeah right, no chance. But he seemed to quite enjoy it! He did learn quite a bit. I think it's good to watch it and see all the different births. However the premature one was horrible!!! Poor couple!

Nightfall1983 · 13/08/2015 21:29

I'm planning the same as most of you, stopping work about Christmas time but as I only work 10 hrs a week, from home, in the office for a few hours twice a month it's not quite as pressing for me. My EDD is 17th Jan but the consultant yesterday told me that because of baby's heart problem they wouldn't want me to go overdue and would be looking to get baby out at 40 weeks. With my DS I worked FT upto my due date (39+6 because that was Friday) and didn't have him till 41 + 5 in the end.

Another thing to think about for me is returning to work, I'd been thinking about only having 6 month off (baring in mind I work mostly from home and don't earn enough to qualify for SMP) but now I know that our baby will need a major operation, potentially around that time, with 2-3 weeks in hospital plus recovery at home I'm wondering if I should delay. It helps a lot that a) I know I don't have to tell work till much closer to the time and b) the company director and my direct boss is actually my Dad, and this is his first granddaughter so I know it will work out one way or another.

Nightfall1983 · 13/08/2015 21:30

PS, my boobs are KILLING me today. What's that about???

brickiemum2 · 13/08/2015 21:43

night you will qualify for maternity allowance, so 90% of your wage for 39 weeks.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 13/08/2015 22:04

OBEM watchers, please can you tell me - is the preemie baby (it died?) in last night's episode? I want to watch it with DH because it appears to focus on the role of the birthing partner, but if it's really sad I'm not sure I want to watch it.

Night sorry to hear about your boobs. It's fanny daggers for me today, well it kind of feels like someone's tearing that part of me apart and simultaneously breaking part of my pubic bone. Confused. Psychological preparation for birth perhaps!

Romeolovesjuliet · 13/08/2015 22:15

night my boobs are still pretty sore too. Don't remember it lasting this long before.
black the preemie baby that died was a couple of weeks ago. I watched last night's episode earlier and there is a lovely calm water birth using hypnobirthing techniques. Smile

SleepyDragon · 13/08/2015 22:17

Night I've got the dreaded boob burn tonight too - horrible

I also have very heavy pins and needley ankles?!

Dino I was sneaky, i 'accidentally' made too much so we had to have some lol!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 13/08/2015 22:42

Have just added chocolate brownies to my shopping list for tomorrow!

Thanks romeo.
