Glad to hear you're okay tiny, it sounds like you've got a lot to deal with but are taking it a day at a time which is all you can do!

Just had an ace moment at work. Told a colleague in a meeting that I'm expecting and he said 'you can tell'. Hooray - I don't just look fat any more! Grin

thejenh · 13/08/2015 11:31

loveulotslikejellytots have you looked to see if there is a Natal Hypnotherapy practitioner near you? Our 2 day course starts from £190 for group workshops. The price is higher in London so it depends where abouts you are. The NH course is really good for preparing for births in hospital so would definitely work for you even consultant led. I highly recommend it!

AlohaMama · 13/08/2015 11:43

sleepy surely that is a perfect opportunity for him to learn to bake/bake it himself.

Lookingforadvice123 · 13/08/2015 11:47

I've got16 weeks left in work (got a week off early Sept) but only 12 of those are full 5 day weeks so guess I shouldn't complain!

I'm feeling loads of movement now, have noticed it's really picked up the last few days, 19+5 today. DH has managed to feel two proper kicks, and yesterday baby was having a rave in there, he seems to kick/move loads when I'm in work as I'm sat at my desk for most of the day. Yesterday he must've kicked and punched me at the same time because I felt two movements at the same time at opposite sides of my belly! Love it, find it really reassuring.

SleepyDragon · 13/08/2015 11:49

I would agree Aloha but i value my kitchen and sanity - the man struggles with beans on toast, i daren't let him loose on anything more complex LOL

MissSMartin · 13/08/2015 12:05

I've got 13 weeks left actually working after this week.. & I have 6 weeks holiday I'm taking spread out between now and Christmas eve when I finish.. im pretty lucky with holidays at my place.. as you can buy extra each year in April which is why I have so much time off.
I've started to my a memory book for all the things to do with baby like when I first felt her kick and when she first kicked her dad ect.. heartbeat ect Smile

MissSMartin · 13/08/2015 12:08

does anyone have their 20week scan on 8th September? do i have any scan buddies haha Grin

kep1979 · 13/08/2015 12:33

Aarrgghh 19 weeks left at work... wish I hadn't looked lol. Have got 8 days off included in that but still, seems AGES!!

Catching up on OBEM... I wonder if it'll make me cry today.

Hope everyone is doing ok today, I am getting liked loads - little lady is a real wriggler Smile

17+6

SleepyDragon · 13/08/2015 12:44

If we're talking weeks i have 17.5weeks left... seems ages away despite being (just) less than the amount of time i've been pregnant for... thank god for the 13 days off i have in that time!

MissS thats a lovely idea i really like that!

jmac88 · 13/08/2015 12:53

missm mines on the 9th!

So after moaning about not feeling anything this morning I have had a couple if odd feelings today.

They are like pulling or tugging. Completely painless but very odd sensation. Feels quite tight too. It's in my lower tum to the right hand side.

Anybody felt anything similar?

If not I guess I should give mw a call just to be safe?

SleepyDragon · 13/08/2015 13:21

JMac i've had that on and off and i presumed it was just round ligament pains/aches or baby stretching out in the womb. If you would feel happier contacting MW thought, do it, its a very personal thing.

is it a weird thing that i'm sat here in my office (on my own as my junior has gone out) talking out loud, explaining to Buble that the noises (S)He can hear is called a thunderstorm and theyre nothing to be scared of as theyre amazing to watch and both mummy and daddy (eeep!) love watching them

i feel slightly embarrassed having just admitted that

its also weird and exciting saying Mummy and Daddy!!!!!

Romeolovesjuliet · 13/08/2015 13:28

kep I just counted and I also have about 19 weeks left at work. But I have a week off in sep then time over Christmas and I only work 3 days so it's not all bad. I only came back in Nov last year from last m/l so it feels a bit nuts to be thinking about going off again. Better than the time before that though when I was only back a few months. No wonder my boss is stressed!
DH out tonight so looking forward to catching up on OBEM in peace.
My 20 wk isn't until 14th sep but I'm right at the back of the queue - 15+6 today.
Have my 16 wk appt next week with consultant due to PPH and retained placenta in first birth. Hope they will agree to leave me alone though as all was well in last birth.
jmac the movements I feel sometimes feel like twitches or kicks and sometimes like tugging pushing or general pressure. That could be braxton hicks you are describing though.

Loveulotslikejellytots · 13/08/2015 13:39

I've counted that I have 82 working days until mat leave! And i've got about a week and a half of leave still to book. Already booked a couple of weeks off in September.

I cannot wait. Where I work is quite nice and the people are nice but i've just lost interest slightly, which isn't like me.

thejenh - i'm in the South East (Near Canterbury) so I do find things tend to be expensive, but not London expensive. I'll definitly look at NH though, thank you.

jmac88 · 13/08/2015 13:39

Thanks romeo and sleepy I'm sure it's nothing to worry about and thought maybe it's baby turning over because of my septate uterus it's a tighter squeeze in there and so feels more obvious?
Just thought it was weird as definitely doesn't resemble the kicks/flutters/pops everyone keeps mentioning!

ValancyJane · 13/08/2015 13:41

14 weeks of work before maternity leave here

Sleepy I talk to the bump too, don't worry!

mrschatty · 13/08/2015 13:48

I'm going to leave work 14th dec. Not sure how far that is but using annual leave first.
I don't talk to baby enough told DH I'm going to set aside 10m each night for him to speak to baby- it hears me prattle on all day at work...
I'm 17+4 no movement yet but it is number 1 and don't really have a bump yet either but back is sore today
I'm a bridesmaid is 4 weeks on sat going with bride tonight for her fitting...keep forgetting to put my veil into dry cleaners eeek. She wants to borrow but it has red lippy on it!!!

melonface · 13/08/2015 13:49

I sing to bump a lot at the moment, lots of soul music like the supremes or anything else that says baby a lot!

Nightfall1983 · 13/08/2015 13:58

So, I can't seem to edit the stats sheet but if someone could add me as PINK! I'd appreciate it :)

We didn't find out the sex with DS and never regretted it but with everything that's going on this time I'm delighted that we have.

We had our specialist heart scan yesterday and as is common for babies with Down's Syndrome they found that our baby girl has a heart defect. It's still not 100% clear on the scan but she has at least one hole in her heart, possibly two and possibly further problems with the valves. The good news is it shouldn't affect her birth or early weeks; she will need a major operation - open heart surgery - within the first year, exact timing dependant on exact problems and how well she is. The specialist said that all being well she might only need one operation and if successful it should completely solve the problem - she wouldn't need continued meds. There are still a lot of "what if's" and we should know a bit more at the next cardiac scan at 22 weeks - currently 17 + 4.

Romeolovesjuliet · 13/08/2015 14:12

Congratulations on your little girl night and though a lot to take in it still sounds positive re. the results of today's scan. One of the babies on my last antenatal group had major heart surgery (for a different problem iirc) and it was incredible how much difference it made to her and how quickly she recovered and responded.

Loveulotslikejellytots · 13/08/2015 14:13

Lovely news Nightfall1983. Open heart surgery is no joke but that specialist seems to have no worries! How old is your DS? Did he have any preference over a little Brother or Sister?

I've had a look at the natal hypnotherapy, again, nearest class for me is nealry 50 miles away and no costs on the website. So i've ordered the Maggie Howell CD and Book. Will see how much they help!

I dont sing to bump, I dont think anyone needs to hear that! But I do talk a lot, DH even had a chat last night. He was putting his ear to my belly, convinced her could hear the baby sloshing around! Grin Daft bugger, I said it's more likely that it's just stomach noises! He wants to get a doppler, he's only heard the HB briefly at the 12 week scan, he'll hear it again Saturday at the 20 week scan. My friend has got one I can borrow for a few months, but I think i'll try and hide it for a little while, I dont think they're recommended before a certain point.

Does anyone elses bump go soft sometimes and then rock solid at others. I'm sure it's to do with eating and drinking as well but i've never noticed a pattern as such. Last night before bed I looked huge! But when I left work at 5 it was quite soft and flat!

brickiemum2 · 13/08/2015 14:34

loveyoulots that's Braxton hicks Grin
I've just received my Doppler and found baby straight away. Who then kept moving away from the probe and I had to chase him/her lol. 3rd baby and I've never even considered one before but I can't handle the stress between scans at the minute due to this being such a high risk pregnancy. I still haven't had a mw visit so haven't actually heard the hb for ages. I feel like I'm not bonding with baby at all as I'm terrified I'll lose him/her so hopefully this will help. I'm aware of its limitations and won't use it in any diagnostic way. Just for comfort.

hotcrossbun83 · 13/08/2015 15:05

Congrats nightfall, that sounds positive overall, but scary.

Just had my 16 week consultant app and heard the heartbeat after a scary few minutes of looking, baby is hiding in my pelvis!

Loveulotslikejellytots · 13/08/2015 15:10

Brickiemum2 - I thought BH were supposed to hurt? I suppose they do make me uncomfortable, but then as my uterus and baby get bigger if I continue to have them, they will hurt more as everything is bigger. Blush

Sorry you're having a rough time this pregnancy, if it comforts you then it's doing it's job. When is your next appointment/scan? Although I did to laugh, when you said you were chasing baby round with the probe, I got an image of a baby doing a sprint around in there to the Benny Hill music... Simple things... Grin

Thats one reason I have come round to the idea of finding out the sex, although i'm loving being pregnant and i've had such an easy time so far, I dont feel any strong bond with it yet. And I think having to call it 'it' isn't helping. Hopefully once I know it will help, but for me I think it's just how i am. If you've ever watched Sex and The City - the ones where Miranda is having her baby, thats what i'm like. I love this baby so so much already, but I find it really hard to do the gooey baby excitement everyone else seems to do! But i'm not a overly emotional/showy person anyway. I down play a lot of things.

Juniper404 · 13/08/2015 15:18

I get really intense Brixton hicks after I, ahem, go to my happy place Blush Entire uterus goes rock hard- feels about the same size as a rugby ball.

When I was pregnant with DD, she used to kick and squirm like mad when that happened which was somewhat off putting!

MissSMartin · 13/08/2015 15:25

night awww congratulations on the little girly Grin .. aww bless, open heart surgery poor little lady ..the outlook seems very positive especially the no continued meds only 1 op ect xx
