Afternoon.

I've been prescribed cyclizine today for my sickness. I was woken up at 5 o'clock this morning by involuntary retching which resulted in a bit of a mess. I decided that enough was enough and I needed meds.
Is there anyone else out there on this? Does it work? Will I start feeling like a fully functioning person anytime soon?

It seems unreal that a few weeks ago I was complaining about having no symptoms - well, you can have them all back now - I don't like them!

clarabellski · 13/07/2015 15:44

Hi spanoo, the main thing was making sure my digestion was moving as I was suffering some pretty nasty constipation which was making the nausea worse, so I've been taking as much prune juice, all-bran and fruit & veg as I can take. And as disgusting as it is, forcing myself to drink more water.

I've also tried hard not to stuff myself on those occasions when I do feel ravenously hungry, and make sure I wait 20 minutes before going back from any second helpings.

Finally, sleep helps if you can get it! And some fresh air each day.

Pogmella · 13/07/2015 16:01

Some of the comments make me slightly uncomfortable? We're not all in straight heteronormative relationships or from the same culture, but we'll all be great parents I'm sure. As I said, I'm sure some humour defo gets lost over the internet so hope this doesn't in turn offend...! Smile

goneswimming · 13/07/2015 16:30

Confused by that pogmella, I've seen nothing but people being supportive of each other on here.

Littleoakhorn · 13/07/2015 16:39

Great result goneswimming!

I'm in Germany so I've a scan at my booking in appointment next Monday and I'll book the NT at that point.

I feel crippled by nausea at the moment and a few of my colleagues have started looking at my belly Hmm my boss and his boss are both out of the office for the next fortnight and I don't want to let the cat out of the bag until a) they're back in and b) I've had the NT done. Their absence is also putting me under more pressure as I have to replace them in meetings.

As for birth plans, I'm hoping I'll be able to VBAC. I hated the csection recovery last time.

Littleoakhorn · 13/07/2015 16:42

I understand Pogmella. Good point, well made. It's easy to forget that humour doesn't always come across so well online.

Spanoo · 13/07/2015 16:42

I think there were a couple of gay jokes? But don't think anyone suggested that someone else wouldn't be a good parent. Would be good to know what made you feel uncomfortable though pogmella and sorry if any offence caused. I guess all sorts of people will use this thread and a bit of tolerance will be required here and there!

Pogmella · 13/07/2015 16:51

Yeah its no biggie. I use 'uncomfortable' cos that's what I mean, not 'upset' or 'angry'. I don't want to point out anything specific but yeah goneswimming I suppose it would have been fairer to note that 99% of this makes me feel supported and is great Smile

RattyCatty · 13/07/2015 17:12

Great scan news mawsy!

Purdiepipesdown · 13/07/2015 17:23

Ah, Rufus, bless you with the zits. Will it be the high progesterone?

Brummie, hurrah! I feel so much joy for you as each week passes.

Big shout out to Haquoi

Charlotte, when I said come out from your rock I didn't mean you're a frog or some other such creature, I meant I am sure you must be hiding somewhere being afraid. I hope you are okay and feel able to come here with your irrational thoughts Thanks

At work I ate chips, butter pie and gravy followed by a cheese sandwich and then a total of 7 Rockys and two Tunnocks caramel wafers. Not to mention the two bags of Space Raiders. I'm now dreaming of a filthbag tea of reformed chicken kievs, beans, chips and slices of Warburtons thick white.

Is it really only Monday? Does anyone else with a baby already at home feel like they're travelling home after a day in the office to their 'other' job? Hmm

Boobear1983 · 13/07/2015 17:32

Wow this thread moves fast. I was so ill last night i was in tears..i have genuinely never felt this bad. Not too much actual vomit but almost constant retching which is unbearable. I'm very rarely ill so I'm finding it hard to cope. I did have fun trying to explain to dh how much my boobs hurt. The only accurate analogy i could think of was 'it feels like someone has run a cheese grater over my nipples'. Had to go to primarni today and buy bigger bras. Shock

Since we're talking about hospitals...any northerners on here?

Phoenix80 · 13/07/2015 17:38

Boobear- I'm in Barnsley x

No zits but I've had a massive coldsore cluster appear round my mouth today Sad

Great scan news again Smile

Boobear1983 · 13/07/2015 17:41

I have terrible skin, spots on my chest which I've never had before. Feeling very attractive right now.

Hi phoenix, I'm near leeds.

jellypi3 · 13/07/2015 17:47

My skin is aweful, I've got a second child growing on my chin right now.

purdie that sounds amaze-balls. I had two beef rolls, a bag of quavers and two oranges. Now debating on whether to have a healthy chicken and green veg pasta for dinner or just saying fuck it and getting a pizza.

raviolig · 13/07/2015 17:53

I'm in Salford.
I've got a scan tomorrow morning. Feeling very nervous about it this time round. It is at 8am so means a very early start and it will be me and ds going to the scan.
My skin is horrendous too, everywhere. Today has been a bad day for nausea too.
I have been feeling very overwhelmed. I feel so sick and so tired it is really hard to get anything done and I feel like I am chasing my tail with the housework and the kids. Hoping it gets a bit easier.

Purdiepipesdown · 13/07/2015 17:59

Ah. That must be me you're referencing Pog. In that case I had better apologise to Caitlyn Jenner for inferring I would rather be married to my husband than him. I must also apologise to anyone here who is married to a homosexual man. What next....Oh yes...those from another culture who gather in unnecessary numbers in my ward when I've just had a baby. They can fuck off with the Bounty arsewipes.

NoMontagues · 13/07/2015 18:13

Congrats mawsy ! Smile

I had no nausea today but I'm feeling very, er, like a thundering bitch out of sorts emotionally.

I was mean to a shelf packer in Tesco, he did push his big cage thing into the buggy but then he aplogised and said he hadn't seen us, and he was an older gentleman and I felt bad for snapping Sad Blush

Purdiepipesdown · 13/07/2015 18:21

Monty, I sympathise entirely. I mean, what are these elderly people doing working in our supermarkets anyway, nicking jobs that young 'uns could be doing?

Brummiegirl15 · 13/07/2015 18:26

Purdie you do make me laugh.

DP is away tonight - which I can be antisocial and not speak to anyone - I've got a Waitrose ready meal but I'm now dreaming about pickled onion monster munch!

Obvs having never given birth I've never had the joy of bounty but I'm a marketing type person and I loathe data.

bollocks, bounty couldn't give a shit about giving birth, they want my data so they can flog me stuff!!!!! Jog on.

And don't get me started on selling my data to a poncey photo company that wrote to me what 3 weeks ago? I'm not even 12 wks yet. What if I'd had yet another mc? And that little gem dropped through the post?

It got ripped up and thrown in the bin.

I have no time for companies that want my data. Which I do know goes against my very job Grin

Littleoakhorn · 13/07/2015 18:33

My skin's horrid too! Last time it cleared up around 12 weeks and was immaculate for the rest of my pregnancy. At the moment I feel like I could solve all the world's energy problems by using my oiliness as renewable biofuel.

As for food, all I want is bangers and mash and gravy. Bloody disgusting German bratwurst just won't do. I'm going to have to remortgage or something to buy proper sausages from the English shop on town.

I'm so grumpy Hmm

LillianMakesAMinion · 13/07/2015 18:36

congrats on the happy scan mawsy!

Rufus200 · 13/07/2015 18:59

I have to admit I have given in and slapped freederm on my spots. I know it says not to use in the 1st 12 weeks but I can't take that every time I go for a pee I find a new pustule.

Purdiepipesdown · 13/07/2015 19:05

Brummie, whaaaaat?! A photo company did what three weeks ago?! Bastards.
Waitrose. Hmm...we could never be friends if you're that posh...

Littleoak, are you still in that there Germany? Sausage & mash sounds sublime 'Twould be th'only sausage I've had in weeks

BadgieBear · 13/07/2015 19:18

Excellent scan news mawsy Smile

ohjelly I've got cyclizine (amongst other things) in my anti-vom toolbox. It's all personal - works for some and not so well for others. I'm a bit of a lightweight and it put me to sleep - but then so does Piriton Hmm. I'll keep my fingers crossed it works for you!

Littleoakhorn · 13/07/2015 19:26

Purdie I am still in Germany. May I point out that whatever their shortcomings, Bratwurst are bigger than English sausages Wink
