NoMontagues · 21/07/2015 19:17

Congrats jelly and primary !! Smile

And welcome to the new joiners.

Aw mayo that's terrible, I'm in Ireland but I've actually never been to Supermacs! DD went during Irish college and they made them call it Mac Iontach's Grin Confused

Spanoo · 21/07/2015 19:36

Yaaaaaay for noodle - what a relief! brilliant news.
Congrats to jelly too Grin

Welcome to the new members!

birdbrain21 · 21/07/2015 19:52

Welcome newbies :). Lots of lovely scan news which is nice!
Those ladies who asked about the ribcage basically if I remember what I was told last time to make room for a growing baby your ribs move slightly apart which would make your bra very uncomfortable if you stayed in your normal size, but it means you can breathe and fit a baby in there and then it goes back after birth. I'm also very big on top 32gg before but I found that as long as you get fitted well normal shops are fine to buy in. Can't remember where I got my nursing bras from will have a look at the label

Brummiegirl15 · 21/07/2015 19:57

Yay Jelly and Primary that's fab news!!!!

All of a sudden today my bra starting to feel very uncomfortable, I do have some very unattractive non wired bras so might have to dig out.

My preggo jeans arrived from Next today. Oh my lord, soooo comfy!!!

Was so weird being public knowledge today at work. Really strange!!

Mirabal · 21/07/2015 20:42

I also had the dream genii. Liked that it had a bit that supported your back as well as a big bit to to 'cuddle' at the front. Found m and s bras rubbish, mothercare brilliant

Phoenix80 · 21/07/2015 20:50

I just googled dreamgenii cos I'd not heard of them and came across this site some comfy looking pillows on there Grin

Pogmella · 21/07/2015 20:58

Hey all, appreciate honest opinions...

Bit nervous about telling work. Ovr the last few months there have been rumblings about a new junior post in my team, I've been advised its being considered a good way to give me line management experience. It won't happen for another few months (Oct/Nov maybe) and obv I'm planning to duck out from Jan-July. Is all hope lost or a)should they and b)would they honour this...?

Want to delay telling them but tbh its not going to come through before I HAVE to tell them...

Its all verbal stuff, nothing in writing Smile Cake and eat it, I know...

Mawsymoo · 21/07/2015 21:04

Aw mayo - a chicken fillet burger and a coleslaw chips sounds pretty good right now!

Littleoakhorn · 21/07/2015 21:07

Pogmella how much of an hr process is there? Could you at least wait until the new post is definitely going to exist?

Pogmella · 21/07/2015 21:11

Its really up in the air littleoak. My manager is pushing for it but decision to authorise depends on the budget each month (local authority budget nightmare). So I'd be waiting for an uncertain amount of time... I'm concerned it will clash with my mat leave exactly and will Bev frustrating to miss out considering the relatively shorttime I'm taking....

primarynoodle · 21/07/2015 21:25

brummie bet it felt good though!! i know what you mean, it felt weird sitting in the ultrasound waiting room today knowing everyone waiting knew i was pregnant (being female and waiting in the antenatal ultrasound clinic and all)! Wink

pog i have no helpful advice but if you have a supportive manager who is approachable could u explain situation and see if they would bring forward/postpone the position? or would that be unfeasable?

Pogmella · 21/07/2015 21:29

I might be worrying about nothing primary- she has 2 kids in primary sch so one would hope she'd be a little open minded... A lot of it is out of her control though.

Worried she will think its too much for me to take on after 6months off- that she'll overlook that we're using spl so in effect no different to a father returning after a fortnight. I think (poss unfairly) a lot of ppl assume the mum is usually primary caregiver.

fififolle · 21/07/2015 21:34

karou welcome and congratulations, I bet it was fantastic to see your scan!
Great news on the scans jelly and noodle!
Your jeans found great Brummie, I've just gone in to maternity trousers for work- they're so comfy! I'm still having to hide the soft band until my 12 week scan. I'm sure your work colleagues were thrilled to bits for you.

rallytog1 · 21/07/2015 21:49

phoenix some of those pillows look amazeballs!

Nectarines · 21/07/2015 22:08

Oh my stomach isn't happy today!

Although it feels weird talking about mat leave so early, I'm considering waiting til after 20 week scan before telling work. My performance review is early sept and I'm on a temporary pay rise which in hoping to make permanent and I want that sorted before I let the cat out if the bag. That sounds bad, but I know the news might sway the decision (experience of discrimination). It's not a great deal of money, but every little helps!

Still gives plenty of notice to find temporary cover for my role.

Rufus200 · 21/07/2015 22:16

I found some really comfy soft bras in M&S in their cheaper range (quite ugly but I don't care at the moment). Also in their boxed range they do crop top bras, that are super soft with no fastenings, that I've been sleeping in as my boobs hurt so much going up and down the stairs in the night for multiple wees (we only have a downstairs toilet). I got up 5 times last night. Insomnia is an understatement, I don't know why I even bothered lying in bed!

I was really naughty tonight and had sushi for dinner. I limited myself to 4 pieces of tuna (mostly because of the cost rather then mercury levels) then everything else I had was cooked. DH was eating raw scallops and raw squid which I wouldn't eat even if I wasn't pregnant!

Pogmella · 21/07/2015 22:19

Nectarines have you been pg before? I have no idea when it will become obvious...

Phoenix80 · 21/07/2015 22:23

Downstairs toilet here too Rufus. We had a camping Portaloo when I was pg with ds1&2 which I put in our bedroom to save trekking downstairs all night long but we sold it along with all our camping stuff, I may regret that decision soon Grin

Nectarines · 21/07/2015 22:24

I have a 21 month old daughter and didn't show until around 25 weeks. I know it might be different this time. I have a new boss from end of summer hols though so he might just think I'm a bit podgy!

Brummiegirl15 · 21/07/2015 22:33

Am so cross. I really wanted to watch the Virgin Atlantic programme tonight.

Unconscious by 9.01 and woke up at 9.55 farting like a trooper

Blush

So missed the whole programme and DP just looked at me as if to say "wtf"

I've just dragged myself up to bed

haquoi123 · 21/07/2015 22:38

Thanks for the advice about pillows, going to invest asap! They look so comforting don't they? Who needs a partner when you've got a pillow that size to cuddle.

Congrats on scans (lots of catching up to do so can't remember names, sorry) and such lovely little pictures!

I buy the crop top bras from sainsburys - £5 and really comfy. I have to say I have up on underwrire a couple of years ago and have been wearing these since. I hate being fitted for bras (32E/F) as they always try and squeeze me into too small a back and it's so uncomfy!

Also FYI this looks really interesting. Has anyone had an experience of this?www.bestdaily.co.uk/your-life/news/a658156/milli-hill-explores-the-phenomenon-of-the-foetus-ejection-reflex.html
