twinsandapenguin it's 2 weeks since my booking in appt, and I'm 9+2, should I chase the hospital for my scan? or chase the midwife? Or wait another week?!

BadgieBear · 14/07/2015 15:36

What lovely happy scan news rufus and raviolig.

Thinking of you lilian - I hope your mw appointment goes well Flowers

Good luck to everyone going for scans/appointments over the next few days!

Purdiepipesdown · 14/07/2015 17:10

Rufus, I'm just thrilled for you Grin

Lillian, what's going on, love?

LillianMakesAMinion · 14/07/2015 17:34

Hi everyone thanks for all the positive thoughts and FlowersFlowers

Had my booking in appointment this morning and I think it is all fine. No bleeding at all today (although I've been obsessively checking all day).

My midwife said not to be concerned about the bleeding unless it is sustained, heavy and accompanied by abdominal pain. Seeings as it was only a bit last night (was very shocked by the red though) and it didn't continue overnight - she said it was normal and could be due to the uterus shifting and stretching or from baby settling in the lining. She also said light bleeding could happen after intercourse (cue looks and eyebrow movement from DH)

Basically the advice is try not to worry but if it happens again and it is heavy and sustained to contact A&E or local EPU. So I am on underpants patrol until further notice.

The rest of the appointment was boring with lots of tickbox questions but by the end of it I was happily reassured enough to enjoy the rest of my day off and had a nice lunch date with DH.

You ladies are the best here though you are my lifeline! Spoke to my mum and she said not to worry about a little bleeding and she should know she's had 5 kids!!

Great news Lillian!

twinsandapenguin · 14/07/2015 19:22

Calypso if you have had your booking in then you are least on their system. I would give it a few days before chasing them.
After what felt like hours on the phone today, still no scan for me Confused

Tiredoftiredness · 14/07/2015 19:33

Another with terrible skin here-FIL asked this morning if I'd caught DS chicken pox from last week and I had to reply "no that's just my skin" sob

I also agree with pog, found several comment uncomfortable/unnecessary and was working up to saying something about it - you beat me to it!

Debating whether to fork out for another scan here. - had one at 7 weeks and all ok at that point but big night out with work next week and NhS scan not for 2 weeks. They know me far to well to accept any excuses for not drinking! Any knowledge of what MMC stats are once HB seen at 7weeks? Google confusing me!

NoMontagues · 14/07/2015 19:58

Congrats rufus and lillian Smile

I feel terrible today. Weak, exhausted and having weird dizzy spells. I was googling earlier on about the risks of lugging an older baby about during pregnancy. DS is huge for his age, he's over 12 kilos and he's only 11 months.

Anyone else have a big, non-standing, non-walking one? Or a toddler you still lift a lot?

goneswimming · 14/07/2015 19:59

I'd like to know that too, I don't know when to look forward to feeling a bit more relaxed! I told hr at work today and they were brilliant, said any time I'm feeling under the weather I can work from home, the hr guy actually got teary when I said we'd had a scan and seen the hb!

Littleoakhorn · 14/07/2015 20:04

Congratulations on the lovely scan news!

Tired I think that once you've seen a heartbeat the risks drop significantly, but I can't find any reliable information on how much they drop by. Could you pretend you're on antibiotics or is that too obvious?

I was kind of wondering about the miscarriage rates after a heartbeat has been seen earlier today, because I think of the first trimester as being far, far harder than the third and here we all are doing it without much sympathy and support. It would be better to have much earlier reassurance and then be able to tell people that you feel like utter shit. At least then my boss would know why I've had my office door shut all week! Oh and I'm desperate to get into my maternity clothes but I'm only 8+2 Confused

Littleoakhorn · 14/07/2015 20:10

Monty I still lift my 15 month old loads, but she is walking. I'm sure your ds will be walking in no time. I had quite a bad back before she started walking as she's 91st percentile for height and weight.

Boobear1983 · 14/07/2015 20:12

Lovely scan news ladies!

monkerina · 14/07/2015 20:12

Hi ladies, obsessive researching has led me to this website which leads off to medical studies: once you've seen a heartbeat 'The risk fell rapidly with advancing gestation; 9.4% at 6 (completed) weeks of gestation, 4.2% at 7 weeks, 1.5% at 8 weeks, 0.5% at 9 weeks and 0.7% at 10 weeks.'

monkerina · 14/07/2015 20:13

That said, other places say a flat 2% rate once you've seen a hearbeat, no matter when. Meh!

overreactionemoticon · 14/07/2015 20:14

Hi all. Lovely to see all the scan pics, I haven't even had my booking in appointment yet.

Still very nauseous but with good and bad days. Still insomniac. Still grumpy. Quite a belly developing. Skin not too bad apart from spotty back. Those of you with spots have my sympathy, I had huge cysts all over my jaw when I had did, I remember how shit it made me feel.

Only three days left of work before I'm off for the summer! The past few weeks have been killing me, so busy and feeling so ill.

Do you think I could work up to 12th Feb? (Due on 17th) Both DC were born on their due dates but although I remember the last few weeks being hard I think I've forgotten what it was really like to be 9 months pregnant!

Pogmella · 14/07/2015 20:35

My skin is also utterly rotten which is pretty depressing given all the healthy food and water i'm necking! I'm now struggling to get into my skinny jeans- caved and ordered some under bump ones at 10+6.... Sadly I think its not so much bump but snacks Blush

Scan is Thurs next week- can't believe its finally coming around!

Tiredoftiredness · 14/07/2015 20:47

Thank you for the link monk awesome website with loads of stats, and has made me feel much better about the risks!

MayFlowers16 · 14/07/2015 21:11

Looks like I spoke too soon about the nausia improving. Oh well!

Did Pixie come back on to update? Hope she is ok.

Stepawayfromthezebras · 14/07/2015 21:38

Great link Monk, cheers for that!

Purdiepipesdown · 14/07/2015 21:41

Lillian, that's great news Thanks I hope you can rest assured now.

Does anyone else's discharge smell of popcorn?
