AbFab fingers crossed for you HCG

Not sure if anyone would be interested in this but it came up in my Facebook feed and is a kit for preventing stretch marks, not sure if it actually helps as not used it yet. It is normally £70 discounted to £11 by using the link below. I have used the code and did get my kit, so it isn't a scam, you purchase through amazon not their direct website (may have also used DH's amazon account to get an extra one Grin ). I have nothing to do with this company, I'm just petrified of stretch marks as I already have them all over my thighs from teenage growth spurt and thought someone might appreciate a £60 saving.

AbFab hopefully everything will turn out to be ok. sending you good wishes Flowers

Rufus thank you for this links. I tend to use organic/plant based products so I'm a bit sceptical if I see so many chemical ingredients. I'm not an expert though, so not sure if they are bad at all. There is no parabens so that's good ;)

what do you think about those bands that suppose to hold the belly? I've heard that in Venezuela and Colombia they use it for generations. Don't you think they could actually make our abdominal muscles lazy?

rallytog1 · 23/06/2015 13:27

I never used a belly band last time and my stomach muscles are still knackered from the pregnancy! I'm not sure if it makes much difference tbh. I know some people find bands make them a bit more comfy though.

Rufus200 · 23/06/2015 13:28

blue I also only use organic or chemical free products and don't actually intend to use their cream (chemical wise it doesn't seem too bad) but the bands on their own cost £30, so cheaper to buy the whole kit! I use green people for most of my stuff but it is really expensive! I also like sanex zero (paraben and phalate free) but none of the supermarkets near me stock it. In my house we have normal shampoo and hand wash etc for DH and then my stuff that I use as sparingly as possible.
I haven't been pregnant before so not sure about abdominal muscles but do heavily pregnant women try and engage their muscles and actually hold their tummys in?

Something else that people might be interested in is belly armor. Can also be bought on Amazon. They come in blankets or bands and stop the radiation from phones, tablets and laptops from getting to your baby! I have a blanket that lives on my sofa, I've been using it for 6 mths now. I spend most of my evenings with my laptop balanced on my stomach with the blanket underneath it.

Made the huge mistake of trying to exercise this morning, did some squats and have been retching ever since.

firsttimenewbie · 23/06/2015 13:54

eeek so excited and happy! Just had an early scan and could both see and hear a super strong heartbeat. The pictures were so clear and even got to see little noggin (our nickname for him or her) wiggling around like crazy! They reckon I am 9+1 rather than 8+3 so that puts my edd at 25th jan but hope you girls don't mind if I stick around anyway?

BananaRaces · 23/06/2015 14:00

Congrats first, that's wonderful!Smile

clarabellski · 23/06/2015 14:16

@rufus, I've not managed to get to the gym/swimming pool since last Thursday. I bring my stuff with me every day but I just feel so tired and nauseous that I can't face it. I count the hours until I can get home from work and take a nap, and I'm easily averaging around 9 hours sleep overnight. I'm also eating way less than I normally do. I have feelings of guilt and worthlessness which I know are irrational but I've gone from a very active person to a sloth within the space of a few weeks.

On the plus side, these symptoms are so all-consuming that I genuinely don't have time or energy to worry about anything else (is the baby growing ok etc).

I'm seriously thinking about confiding in my mum for support even though I don't really want her to have to carry the secret...Has anyone else told a family member/friend?

Brummiegirl15 · 23/06/2015 14:20

I've told all my family and my work but that's because of my past history

monkerina · 23/06/2015 14:41

DH told his parents without discussing with me first but in fairness, his mum was apparently angling because his dad seemingly put 2 and 2 together after I refused to do kitchen fittery stuff I'd been well up for previously Grin They're well aware that we've been trying since we got married, and know about the 2 previous MCs- and he's told them not to get excited yet!

I won't be telling anyone for a good while, except possibly a good friend who helped greatly before.

Bluenewbie · 23/06/2015 14:44

First that sounds wonderful! congrats on HB and happy Bean! Star :)

Rufus yes, Green People is way too expensive for me. I tend to use Faith in Nature as they seem to have most basic, and completely plant based ingredients comparing to for example Jason. I do lack a lot of more targeted cosmetics with Faith though. Like for example my roseaca left me half of my face of spider veins/capillaries and can't see a good, natural cream for that.

coming back to the kit- I think I would use all of it. it is def a good price. I would think our abs would automatically work all day long to try to balance out the weight of the belly. I don't think this band would actually offer much support - they seem to be soft. But I've heard there are some bands (like the ones Colombian women use) that actually suppose to support your muscles and then speed up your belly coming to pre-PG state. I was thinking that those could actually make our abs lazy and if the band supports the belly than abs will just not work. what you ladies think? did you hear about these?

on tiredness- my DP leaving to work said, that I'm probably just lazy and pretend it is because of my PG Hmm I'm not very tired, rather sleepy throughout the day. I've got this comfort that can stay all day at home. and I did stay in bed all day yesterday Grin

We want to tell our parents on holidays in July. it will be before 12week scan though , so a bit reluctant. But we want to do it in person and that's the only time we can visit them (both abroad). it seems to be a bit tricky though, since I don't feel pregnant any more and will not see a HB before telling them Confused

Bluenewbie · 23/06/2015 14:50

it's like crossword for me Fox ;) I like spreadsheets haha

BananaRaces · 23/06/2015 14:55

We've told parents, siblings and three of our very closest friends. We decided that we would tell the people we thought we would want support from if something went wrong. We'll wait until 12 week scan before telling anyone else, roll on August!!

jellypi3 · 23/06/2015 14:57

congrats firsttimenewbie :) great seeing a HB.

We have told both sets of parents and couple of close friends. The rest of the world can wait. I won't be doing a FB announcement either, I hate them, just tell people I want to know and that'll be it.

StockingFullOfCoal · 23/06/2015 14:58

I'm 5+6 today. Scan on Saturday.

My Dad, step Mum, Grandparents know. My Uncle and his DP know as they happened to be at my GPs on Sunday. They have a boy due in November - so my GPs will have a new GC in November and a new GGC in February! Grin it'll mean a 29 year age gap between the eldest GC (me) and the youngest one due in November. Uncle is 48.

One of my sisters knows (I have 7, but I'm NC with 1) and my best friends parents know as thats who we travel to Church with. BF is AWOL at the moment which is making me Sad because I can't share this news with her.

WouldRatherHaveCake · 23/06/2015 14:59

I think I will have to give that link a go on the laptop rufus doesn't seem to give me a code on my tablet or phone

clarabellski · 23/06/2015 15:02

Thanks for sharing your experiences ladies Flowers

DH has been great so far (sending me silly pictures during the day/extra hugs/letting me rant) but sometimes you just want your mum! It has got me thinking about a good friend who is due with her first baby next month and who lost her mum around 5 years ago. Sad

Bluenewbie · 23/06/2015 15:13

Ciara yes it is hard. I lost my mum 9 years ago. She would be a fantastic grandma..

On tp of that, we live away from friends and my brother(new city) and family is abroad. MIL won't be able to come as she's working as a teacher. I feel like we will be alone throughout the pregnancy and in first months of our baby's life.
it feels genuinely shite Sad

Stepawayfromthezebras · 23/06/2015 15:21

We're not telling anyone until we've had a scan. This weekend's going to be hard as I'm seeing my sister and my parents and they'll probably guess - they won't say anything though.

I'd love to be able to tell them but I don't want to get their hopes up (which sounds very pessimistic but I just can't get too giddy until I've had a scan)

I'm really looking forward to being able to tell people Smile. Def no fb announcement though

Rufus200 · 23/06/2015 15:23

All my close friends know and my mum (only have DH and mum, all other family have passed on). My mum has told every single person she knows, she was asked not to! DH has told no one and doesn't want to tell his family until after the 12 week scan.

clarabellski · 23/06/2015 15:37

Flowers @ bluenewbie

@rufus, I'd like to hope my mum could keep quiet, but given she told me about my SIL's pregnancy (after being confided in by SIL), I am not hopeful. I get that from a prospective grandparent's perspective its 'happy' news to be celebrated out loud, but from this expectant mother's perspective it mostly feels (i) shitty (ii) terrifying and (iii) private!

end of hormonal rant

scaryg · 23/06/2015 15:42

OMG - I think I'm pregnant... I've just done two tests, I didn't believe the first one, then checked the expiry date and it was Dec 2014 - Doh!

DP and I only decided a couple of weeks ago that we'd try properly for DC2, then 1 shag and I'm upduffed!

I haven't told DP yet, he's not back from work until 7, so you lot are the first to know...

Looks like I'm 5 weeks gone and my due date is 19 Feb 2016.

firsttimenewbie · 23/06/2015 15:50

Thanks for the congrats ladies.
We told my mum fairly early. Now we have had a scan and seen hb we will tell both sets of parents and siblings. Oh and my boss. But will wait to tell everyone else till 12 weeks.

WouldRatherHaveCake · 23/06/2015 15:55

Congrats scary! That happened with my first, bit of a shock isn't it!
