I pooped during the birth of both of my kids and was completely aware of it at the time.....and couldn't have cared less Grin The two people witnessing it (dh and mw) were not experiencing the same surges Fucking agony as me so they deserved some poop to clean up Grin

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 20:01

do internal sausages hurt?

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 20:02

scans* haha! Blush Hmm

Readyforthefuture · 22/06/2015 20:04

Woohoo - scan date just arrived, 9th July. Seems ages away. Letter says you don't get the results of the NT scan while you're there, does anyone know how long this takes?

lilduck - hoping everything goes well for you tomorrow.

Juniper44 · 22/06/2015 20:09

No, MissMartin. Bit of a weird feeling but not painful.

Oysterbabe · 22/06/2015 20:12

The sausage won't hurt, unless he's a bit too rough.

babybabynamechange · 22/06/2015 20:18

Think mine took about a week last time Ready

Not sure how it works for twins though, I don't think the blood test is accurate for twins - was planning on asking about it at my booking apt (Friday)

MissMartin I detest anything internal but it didn't hurt a jot, smears hurt me slightly but this didn't. It was erm thicker than I was expecting - it's described as a wand and I was expecting something about the thickness of a pen but this was thicker - not as thick a penis though, no problem or anything I was just surprised. They cover it in a condom and lots of lube. YUCK. Sorry, I do hate it though it was fine.

crumble74 · 22/06/2015 20:23

sweetpea I had to inject from positive pregnancy test until 6 weeks post natal last time & have been told to do the same this time around too.

It does get more difficult towards 3rd trimester as less fat to pinch but I don't think I had to resort to thighs which I would imagine could be quite painful. I just moved further outwards towards hips, side of bum etc.
In my case the daily injection meant I could not have a home birth but I could have chosen a MLU but only because it is adjacent to the central delivery suite in our hospital. A standalone MLU would not have been possible. I had a persistent breech baby though so had an ELCS anyway.

HappyGirl86 · 22/06/2015 20:25

Hi Everyone,
I don't know if I'm stressing over nothing but I paid to have a reassurance scan at the weekend. I was 8 weeks on the day we went and she said it was a "healthy baby with a twinkling heart". Just been reading people's comments on here and I'm worried because people have said their babies were moving and they could tell where the head was etc..
The lady said everything was fine but it just looked like a little blob with a heart beat. A lovely blob though!
Am I stressing over nothing?
Please advise! Thanks

SleepyDragon · 22/06/2015 20:26

Thanks Lilli and Juniper

As daft as it sounds (and I know it's daft) it's the thought of the stinging and whathavyer afterwards when going to the loo and being scared of pooping.... And that's so far off lol!

The poop in labour thing, a friend told me a little poop came out with her DD and she yelled 'oh my god I poo'd' the MW told Her she hadn't but she yelled 'please don't tell me I havent I can smell it' lol!

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 20:36

sleepy that was really funny! ..so i told dp nd he said he would laugh at me if i poo'd Blush

oh gosh ready it really sounds like a dildo haha

Sweetpea80 · 22/06/2015 20:43

Thank you crumble. Let's hope I can stick to my tummy.

I'm happy to have the baby in my local hospital I'm just hoping I can still have the option of a water birth.

Happygirl when we had an early scan at 8weeks it was more of a blob with a flickering heart beat. It's nothing to worry about. You will notice a huge difference between that scan and your dating scan. x

HappyGirl86 · 22/06/2015 20:49

Aw thanks Sweetpea. That makes me feel better!

crumble74 · 22/06/2015 20:49

Nothing to worry about happygirl. No wriggling at 8 weeks here either, just today! My DS slept through his 20 week scan...babies sleep loads in the womb!

ValancyJane · 22/06/2015 20:52

Happy Mine was eight weeks on the day too (though measured at 8+2), and it was very much a blob (see picture - my mother tearfully referred to it as her grandblob)! There was a head-end to the blob on the clearest image, but it really was just a blob. The sonographer talked about seeing the heart beat - but we couldn't see a thing. We heard it though, so I'm satisfied she wasn't just lying!!

I've decided this early pregnancy malarkey has its upsides, my OH has outdone himself tonight. He got home from work early today, and I came home to find the house completely cleaned (hoovered, mopped, dusted, the works) - then I had a nap, during which time he cooked dinner and woke me up when it was ready. I'm feeling exceptionally spoilt (and wondering what he's done!!)

ValancyJane · 22/06/2015 20:54

Oh also, no movement to my knowledge - it really was just a very delightful blob! :)

HappyGirl86 · 22/06/2015 20:55

Thanks Crumble and Jane. Phew!
I seem to worry about everything at this stage. I'm so scared of something going wrong. I keep trying to tell myself that every week the chances of something going wrong decrease.

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 20:58

Aww valancy your little blob picture is very sweet Smile

Blackandwhitecat3 · 22/06/2015 20:59

Gosh you ladies have been busy today with all the poo and sausage talk!

lilduck hope you are ok and that the scaremongering GP is wrong.

Teenie I'm with you on th freezing cold feeling. It doesn't help that the weather's unseasonably cool, but I have been sitting under rugs and everything.

Moonshine if it's any comfort, my sickeness ramped up at bang on 10+0 and (touch wood) it was also the max.

MissMartin your manager sounds ace, glad you have support at work to help you manage with your sickness without feeling guilty.

For those who haven't told work yet, when are you planning to tell? I always assumed I would tell after my 12 week scan, but I'm really not looking forward to it because I don't work in a very "equality" minded place.

Lookingforadvice123 · 22/06/2015 21:06

happy I've had a scan at 8+3 and 10+3 and to my knowledge the baby wasn't moving at either. The difference between the two is mad though check it out (1st pic 8+3, second pic 10+3). 12 week scan is Thirsday (at 12+3!) so hoping I get to see some moving!

Good god ladies it's busy tonight.

Congrats on the scans!

Undecided re birth - the ml birth centre is downstairs from the labour ward so anxieties about emergencies assuaged plus the rooms are nicer but need to discuss it first I think!

I had scan at 7 weeks and they zoomed in! The internal scan was Fine and not as uncomfortable as a smear. Plus they can find heartbeat easier as its so small!

Re telling work - I intended to at 15w but I have an 11am mw appt At the beginning of w13 so figure I will have to tell her as otherwise I'll have to take a days leave. I don't really want to broadcast it at this stage but by telling her she will have to start thinking about cover. Realistically though, to get someone in to cover me, they'd need to appoint in September latest (NHS 3 month notice periods) so would advertise in August. Scan on 20th July at 12+5.

So bloated today although not quite as sick as earlier. And my dog stood on my tummy earlier and freaked me out. DH so cross!

ValancyJane · 22/06/2015 21:28

Thanks Miss :)

Looking Your 10 week scan is incredibly cute :) Sounds stupid but I can't believe what a big difference there is in just two weeks!

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 21:36

if i do get my early scan after a referral from the doctors ill be atleast 9 weeks (on Wednesday) so hopefully they won't do an internal..
and ill get my little scan picSmile

MissMartin10 · 22/06/2015 21:38

looking wow ur pictures are really clear! especially the 10w one. . alot clearer than most peoples 12w pics i see!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 22/06/2015 21:45

Internals really aren't that bad. Much much less uncomfortable than a smear.
