oops, meant to say that I hope DS is now better babydriver and that you still managed to eat on Christmas Day!

Tommy · 30/12/2006 12:11

thanks smudgemum - yes it does all seem a bit soon now doesn't it?! I have decided to get DS1's birthday out of the way (10 Jan) then get on with preparing for the baby.

IIRC with DS2 particularly, he got though 3 -4 vests and babygros per day in hospital as he kept being sick on them! If you're buying them new, just put a packet of vests and a couple of babygro in your bag - they don't take up much room.

I think it all seems to be looming now . From monday I've got 7 weeks to go and I was planning to pack a provisional bag (just in case things happen early) with Pj's towel soap bag etc then pack a proper one when my maternity leave starts. At the moment I don't think I will be needing it but, going on family history.
I had another buggy crisis, worrying if I have made the right choice as the 3D only just fitted in the car. I think I just need to get it ordered and to stop obsessing about it. Someone give me a slap!!!

Evening - all well over here - off to a New Years party at a friends tomorrow - with dd in tow - DH is in work on New Years Day at 8am so not only will I not be drinking, and coping with a late night for me - he can't have too much to drink - unless dd and I get up and drive him to work - but may be a bit early for us!

Bought some stuff for my hospital bag - packed most of the baby stuff - got nappies today - one pack of pampers and one pack of huggies - size 3 of the newborn range as the weight of this buba will be on the larger size! Tried to get two pairs of pjamas for me - struggled - not sure what size to get, but will need to try them on later - can always take them back if I feel brave enough!! (or send my mum back with them!!) Also got maternity pads (look like bricks!!!) and some cheap plain knickers - didn't like those disposable ones last time - and these ones were even cheaper for 10 pairs - can bin them when used! I think I will also pack a basic bag now and then do a proper one when I am on mat leave.

Ordered the matress for the cot today - pick it up on Thursday - the shop is on the way to the hosp and DH is coming with me - so he can lump it in and out of the car!!

I must think about packing a bag just in case! And really need to buy baby stuff and get homebirth stuff organised! Time is definately flying in.

I guess number of vests and sleepsuits depends on how long you stay in lol. DS was really sicky but not much during the day we were in hospital. I would say 2 or 3 would definately get you through a day. And then you could have more at home for your other half to bring in as necessary. Just remember and tell them where they are kept! DH NEVER worked out where baby things were lol.

I'm HUGE and really uncomfy. I'm getting a lot of attention from the general public now as they think I'm about to drop any minute. I get sympathetic words when i tell them I have 7 wks to go! But I don't feel as cumbersome as I did with DS as I'm not swollen like a balloon.

mummytojake .I may be around later. We have ML here for new year and she wants to watch emmerdale ... I shall escape with the laptop into the bedroom at that point!!

MoosMa · 31/12/2006 16:13

Happy new year to everyone tonight, we had a nice Christmas - DD enjoyed herself and was a bit more aware of what was going on (she's 16 months). Only one downside - oooooooooooh so much heartburn!

I'm now 33+1 and have put on some weight (Christmas helped!), I'm 7lbs up from starting point which is good but not quite what it should be, though I'm feeling better in myself so I'm not worrying. Also waist (ha!) has grown 11 inches so I think LO is doing well, I've grown out of all my mat tops. I found a bargain for those of us who are bursting seams now - bump coverers in the sale!

peachygirl · 31/12/2006 19:07

OK emmerdale is on. is anyone about???

mummy2jake · 31/12/2006 19:25

im here

suzi2 · 31/12/2006 19:27

I'm here peachy - not sure for how long though as the high winds are making it tricky for DS to settle.

Thanks for the belly cover link MoosMa. I have one that I got in the sale at M&S and it's great - if only to provide a bit extra warmth and to save the occasional flash of stretchmarks! I've been told that they're great for breastfeeding too - which I can imagine. No flabby sides and belly on display if your top it up. I'm definately ordering some more at that price!

Hello, I am - after a long break. Sorry I haven't been around much. Have dipped in and out every so often but finding the time to post more than a sentence is getting tricky. Especially in the lead up to Christmas which was far more manic than it should have been. I have been recovering ewver since. I really over did it and took on too much but tbh, dh wasn't around much and when he was he was sooo tired that he wasn't much help anyway. Since Christmas Day, I've calmed down a lot and have been taking things easier, as has dh. Doubt I'll bve able to slow down as much as I (and my poor achy body) would like as I'll still have the perpetual school runs to do which take twice as long now becasue the Braxton Hicks are soooo strong and painful when I attempt exercise of any kind.

Sorry some of you have had difficult times lately. We have been better this year (lost my Nana tonight last year and my Papa 2 years before that, in fact me and dh were wondering if our marriage was over last New Years Eve) although a nasty chest infection knocked me for six. It can be a really difficult time of year. Tommy, I hope dh finds something very soon.

We are staying in with a chinese take-away tonight - yes I know, I'll regret it and will almost certainly see the New Year in with a flute of gaviscon rather than champagne but hey ho. I'm feeling really tired now and have to have a sleep for over an hour in the afternoons if I want to be awake beyond 10pm these days.

I have a midwife appt on the 8th and I'm really hoping that the baby won't still be breech by then as they will be taking me in for scanning and to turn "it" manually. I am worried that it just won't turn (me and my famous stubborn children!) and that will put paid to my hopes of a home birth and no intervention. I will be mighty upset if that is the case.

I am now 34 + 5 and praying like mad.

I think I have most things ready for a home birth (should we get to) although I've had to go out and buy more shower curtains as the old ones I was saving for the birth are now lining our loft as we have lots of leaks coming though the ceiling - what fun what joy!

Anyway, kids are coming down for their goodnight kiss so I'd better get on with things.

Will try to post again soon.

happy New Year everyone

peachygirl · 31/12/2006 22:13
