I keep worrying about squashing or knocking him too. I really have no awareness of where my bump is. It's so strange. When I wake up in the morning, I feel like my stomach is back where it always was until I put my hand out to feel whether I still have it and I can never remember that it's there when I try to bend at the waist or get through a small space until I'm more or less stuck!

Emma321q · 30/07/2015 06:26

How is everyone sleeping at the moment? I haven't had a proper nights sleep for a few weeks now but last night was the worst!! It is currently 6:25am and I have been up over two hours already - it's going to be a long day!!!

Superexcited · 30/07/2015 06:51

I've not been sleeping well for weeks, I get pains in my hip area when lying down so I spend the whole night tossing and turning. And I also have to get up most nights to go for a wee.

ChloeMumsnet · 30/07/2015 09:39

Hello! Joining this thread a bit late. I'm due 9th October, it's my first baby.

batfish · 30/07/2015 11:15

Hi blue - welcome! There is also a Facebook page if you wanted to join it, send gaggiagirl a private message Smile

I've been sleeping fine other than some nights I've started to get reflux which is gross - I will be asleep and will be woken up by a little bit of sick coming into my mouth and then I can't sleep as feels like I've got fluid stuck at the back of my throat, pregnancy just gets more glamorous every day! But when I'm asleep I sleep fine luckily and can still lie in, very upset at the thought of my sleeping days being numbered!

Empem288 · 30/07/2015 13:30

Hi all Smile I'm also joining quite late I'm due 26 October (prob nearer to 10th - tbc!) with DD2. DD1 is 14 so quite an age gap Shock

I'm sleeping terrible at the mo and tossing most nights with difficulty in the turning! Hips / pelvis pain is unbearable Confused referred for physio so waiting on that appointment coming. Comfy on my back but then snoring kicks in n disturbs DH Hmm

BlueBirdBlue · 30/07/2015 20:34

Thanks for the welcome Batfish. I've just joined the Facebook group so look forward to chatting with everyone there Smile

ollieplimsoles · 31/07/2015 07:11

Welcome blue!

Heartburn has started keeping me up in the night, it's so painful! Also turning in bed hurts my tummy and hips. Apart from that I sleep quite well.

I keep forgetting about my bump though, I haven't knocked it yet but I do forget to be careful when I'm getting up or lying down, I always end up pulling something

Empem288 · 01/08/2015 22:01

How do I go about joining the Facebook group please? ????

BeautifulBatman · 02/08/2015 10:59

Send gaggiagirl a PM - she'll hook you up :)

Quick question: when are you all planning to wash all the baby clothes and pack your hospital bags? I suggested to DH that we should do it all around 36 weeks so we are ready in plenty of time but he looked horrified and said he thought we should sort it all within the next two weeks (I'm currently only 30 weeks). His reasoning is that my bump is very low (has got lower in the last few weeks) and baby has been head down since at least my 20 week scan and that he wants to be ready if baby comes early. I think my bump is just low because it isn't my first baby and everything prepares a bit sooner in second and subsequent pregnancies.

Emma321q · 05/08/2015 10:54

I am also 30 weeks pregnant superexcited and was going to start doing it bit by bit in about 4 weeks time. However this is my pfb so I have no idea if that timing is right.

batfish · 05/08/2015 11:03

super my mum is coming to stay tonight for 10 days and she suggested she could wash clothes for us - I kind of wanted to do it myself but as we live in different countries and she has missed out on everything so far I didn't want to say no! So I guess our clothes will be washed soon - although we still have quite a bit to buy. Hospital bag - not sure! Need to think about that!

Superexcited · 05/08/2015 11:04

I think it's that I just don't want a packed bag hanging around for two months. I might wash the baby clothes though as I can get them on the line to dry whilst we still have good weather (we don't own a tumble dryer). Both of my other babies arrived almost on their due dates so I'm not expecting an early labour but DH is clearly paranoid and doesn't want to be left trying to frantically pack a bag if I am early. I can't pack until I have bought everything anyway so it might be a good excuse to send DH shopping over the next couple of weeks Grin

Cineraria · 05/08/2015 11:13

Well, as my hospital bag, the nightdresses to go in it and the baby's clothes are all still flat pieces of fabric that need cutting out and sewing, it certainly won't be any time soon! I'm 32 weeks and would like to have it done by 36 weeks. I do have a fairly thorough checklist prepared so if the baby decided to arrive early I could probably grab most of what I do have and throw it in a carrier bag in about 20 minutes.

I also have most of the shopping still to do. Again, I have a full list of links to all the items online but our internet is down and we've also been having parcels stolen from where they are usually delivered to when we're at work and have stopped ordering online until we get a secure delivery box, so this is later than planned, really.

With a second baby I might be tempted to be more prepared as I've heard they are less likely to be late and can sometimes arrive very quickly when labour starts, compared to first babies

Superexcited · 05/08/2015 11:28

cineraria well done for still sewing at 32 weeks pregnant. My sewing machine has been unused for several months now as I was getting terrible backache when I tried to sew for any length of time (actually I did make one single maternity dress last month).
Yes, husbands concern is the speed at which he will have to pack a bag. First baby was 2 hours from start of labour until delivery and second baby was 2 and a half hours. It doesn't help that DH works at least 45 minutes drive away (and sometimes further if he is not office bound). He might also need to make arrangements for children to be collected form school etc.
I think I might hold out on the packing until 36 weeks just to make DH sweat a little Grin

FernGullysWoollyPully · 05/08/2015 11:36

We're planning a home birth but have been advised that we still need a hospital bag in the event of a transfer.

I'm planning to wash everything around the time I see the midwife at home at 34 weeks for the chat about the birth. Hospital bag in the couple of weeks after that. No later than 36/37 because you just never know do you?!

gaggiagirl · 05/08/2015 22:35

Hospital bags!!!!! Not long now eh ladies!!!!! Weeeee so excited!

BeautifulBatman · 05/08/2015 22:40

I can't sort mine our until at least 35 weeks - not back in the UK til then. I've always been a bit lastminute.com though so not too worried. I think I'm just going to use my hand luggage spinner case.

gaggiagirl · 05/08/2015 23:10

I have only bought one packet of nappies thus far so I cant see my hospital bag getting packed til October.

OP posts:
Emma321q · 05/08/2015 23:14

How many nappies is everyone intending to buy in advance?

gaggiagirl · 05/08/2015 23:27

Emma 100. Shit. You. Not! I did for my last baby if you have some where to put them. You will use that many in the first 10 days and you wont want to leave the house. Its only 5 packets really.

OP posts:
BeautifulBatman · 06/08/2015 05:03

My dh couldn't believe how small a pack of 23 size 1 nappies were Grin

batfish · 06/08/2015 06:35

I have chucked nappies into the trolley a few times when we've been shopping - I think I've got about 150 now! Got 2 massive packs of Pampers then a little pack of Huggies and a little pack of Pampers posh ones, thought would try different brands. Also have a big pack of size of 2 (confused hubby).
