Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 28th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 46th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oLJqpadAb2givKYq8OJfGCti3s6xzsTGlI-GoaBfM_M/edit?pli=1#gid=0

Jelly they don't see you here until 8-9 weeks so it may be a while. You will probably have had your scan before you see the midwife!

Ironing tee, what's that??

I only ever iron when I sew... we now have two irons, mine (for sewing) and DH's (for actual shirts, which he does when he can be bothered).

I wish I had some reason to bet on me, but all is quiet. We have tried to get things going (ahem) but it just made me want to sleep all day.

Any mention of baby movements usually prompts several frantic "go and get checked out" on the pregnancy boards. Baby has slowed down a bit today, by that I mean that he's still moving, same frequency, but perhaps less vigorously. And last night, DH could feel him (hands on my bump) but I couldn't. So... do we travel the 35 mins to be hooked up to a monitor or not. Am thinking I'll decide after tea.

I have a bag of fake coins for DS to play at shop. When I get a bit nervous about movements, I lie on my left side on the sofa and pick out a coin every time I feel a movement. During Eurovision, I used all the coins in under an hour, despite being v worried up to that point. So maybe I just need to "tune in" a little more. My intuition says all is OK, because the things that usually lead to movements are still leading to movements. And if that changes, I'll be in the car quicker than you can say "count the kicks".

It's all new to me, even 4+ years ago when pregnant with DS there was no such thing. It's very worthwhile, I am not knocking it, but at the same time it freaks me out daily now.

BeforeIChangeMyMind · 25/05/2015 18:02

I didn't know you were supposed to moderate bath temperature - oops. I've been having long hot soaks at least weekly, although DH has always been home. Oh well.

WilHarlot · 25/05/2015 18:09

I find long sleeved bodysuits really useful here but I doubt you'd need them where you are Bat unless places are cold with air conditioning. Most gifts people buy you seem to be 3-6 months with some 0-3 and 6-9. I would get maybe a pack of 7 bodysuits and sleepsuits newborn size and a cotton hat. Maybe the same in 0-3 in case you have a bigger baby and skip newborn size. Then once it's here and you know sex, you can get proper outfits. Oh maybe some bibs also.
They usually have to be around 8lbs I think for sleeping bags. Again may be too hot for them where you are although you can get 1 tog ones. Normally people use cellular blankets for the first few weeks.

Hope you're not upset by the professionally offended La. It was really nice of you to give advice when they were being such arseholes. Thanks

BeforeIChangeMyMind · 25/05/2015 18:09

batfish with clothes, you can get e.g. 10-piece starter sets that include a sleepsuit, short- and long-sleeved vests, leggins etc etc that are handy. I buy "newborn" (and did find that some meant for DS were too short). M&S has an up to 1 month size which is handy as 0-3 tends to swamp a new baby (not sure whether you can get M&S in UAE tho). I bought sleepsuits for the most part, avoided 'outfits' under 3 months (too much faff) and bought nighties for sleeping in - no poppers for night changes, they're long and you just lift them up over the feet. Sleeping bags came much later, just used a couple of cellular blankets for the first few months. Hope that helps.

batfish · 25/05/2015 18:44

Thanks for baby clothes advice! Has given me a few little pointers Smile

In other news - am I going mad or could I have just felt baby from outside at 21+2? Too early surely? Was laid with my arm across my stomach and felt something over on the far right at about belly button height, would baby even be over there?! Felt it under my arm then twice more with my hand.

DulcetMoans · 25/05/2015 19:07

before if you are worried then always make the trip but sounds like you feel ok about it now. what do you sew? I got my stuff out yesterday and ran out of inspiration so didn't know what to make. But I saw some material I really want, DH says I can't have it without a plan. Im all over Pinterest now!

I didn't self refer jelly but refered from GP to midwife took about 2 weeks for a phone call.

It is all horrible la but let's just try to leave them too it until MN say otherwise. There is a nicer thread start by iwashappy if you want to read something positive.

Can anyone help us with a bed question for baby? DH said yesterday about whether we can have the baby in the cot horizontal with its feet to the side when it's still little. Is that a thing that would happen or not done?

Indigoblue2 · 25/05/2015 19:09

Couldn't agree more la. Very well said and I think it was bloody lovely of you to offer your time like that to give advice on something you've had experience with. Next time they are wittering on just cover your ears and shout "la la la".... see what I did there?

Indigoblue2 · 25/05/2015 19:13

bat pretty sure you will have felt baby. Think I could after 20wks, it's so lovely isn't it? I think feeling your baby must be one of, if not THE best thing about pregnancy Smile

tee I actually can't believe you're so close to dropping a baby bomb. I remember you getting your BFP on the fred, can't remb if I'd joined or was still lurking. It's mental! Now you just have to race cym to the finish line!!

batfish · 25/05/2015 19:15

dulcet when my friend was pregnant she made some cushions for the feeding chair in a cute material and a laundry bag - it was so nice, I could never make stuff like that!

batfish · 25/05/2015 19:17

indigo I just wish mr bat had felt it too to confirm I wasn't going mad! I shouted him but then there was nothing and then he moved his hand over to the other side of my stomach and I felt it once more in the same place - typical! Just seems odd as I haven't been feeling much at all and when I have felt anything I haven't been sure it is the baby so would be surprised if I was suddenly feeling from the outside. But maybe I just don't sit with my hands on my stomach enough!

BeforeIChangeMyMind · 25/05/2015 19:24

Oooooh anyone want 20% off at M&S (clothing, home beauty) valid until midnight tonight? It's a friends and family code so should work. And it says "includes furniture" which surely means cots etc??

MAY15EM at the checkout

I used to do some dressmaking dulcet but these days its all about patchwork (although my mobility issues have put a stop to crawling around on the floor to pin stuff together for the moment). Was v proud of myself for getting the baby quilt done and finished before it got too bad - then the other day the cat was sick on it Angry. Thankfully it has survived the machine wash and is as good as new - and now safely in the cupboard away from the cat.

LaLaLaaaa · 25/05/2015 19:34

Bat that sounds like you felt minibat! Grin

Before I really wouldn't think anything of the bath thing. You'd have to soak for ages and bath water cools over time unlike hot tub. My mum says all she had were baths as no shower when she was pregnant so she thought my concern over bath was daft.

Nice thread dulcet! What a nice person iwashappy is to write that Smile it's a pity folk feel the need to moan. I've hidden the evil thread.

Any box set suggestions please? We've run out of stuff to watch in the La house. We can't wait until The Returned season 2 starts! 1st season was excellent. Called Les Revenants as its French.

Bat I'm also hedging nets with newborn stuff. Got couple of multipacks of body and sleep suits.

LaLaLaaaa · 25/05/2015 19:37

Before have you done the lying on left side drinking something cold thing? Hope minibefore wakes up - perhaps you've been active and not noticed movements.

Dulcet I've got no idea about the bed question...

batfish · 25/05/2015 19:39

I just felt it again but in the middle - and mr bat even felt one this time! I am not sure I believe it is baby but no idea what else it would be!

la we have just started House of Cards which I am enjoying. Box sets I have loved are Entourage, Suits, How I Met Your Mother and Homeland. We have watched 2 series of Orange is the New Black and I'm enjoying that but also can't see where it's going.

LaLaLaaaa · 25/05/2015 19:41

I love OITNB!

Before -if you are at all worried about reduced movement I would phone to ask to be checked. You might need to go in but it is too important to ignore

LaLaLaaaa · 25/05/2015 19:42

Just sneezed and farted. Unfortunately I'm sitting next to dh and it kind of reverberated on his leg. He can't decide if it was hilarious or gross Shock

DulcetMoans · 25/05/2015 19:42

I'm mainly patchwork too before but looking for something else. Will look at cushions bat, good idea!

I can suggest an excellent boxset la if you have Netflix. Thing is, I am emotionally attached to it so if you don't like it I will be sad! It needs your commitment though as it's so clever. Anyway, that's Arrested Development and worth anyone's time I think.

I might hide it too. Was thinking of reporting it and asking MN to say something or get involved. lil, if you read this, I recommend leaving it alone. There's nothing for us to prove.

batfish · 25/05/2015 19:44

dulcet the ones she made were from some designer material - she loved it but to buy the things themselves already made would have been mega expensive so she just bought the material and made her own for much less!

Indigoblue2 · 25/05/2015 19:53

Ooh Homeland!!! bat it's my faaavvvourite ever!

jellypi3 · 25/05/2015 20:19

I've always said I'd try to get through all 1000 seasons (or so it feels) of CSI when I got pg Wink

BeforeIChangeMyMind · 25/05/2015 20:36

Love Arrested Development too dulcet. Took me about four episodes to get into it, but once you find its wavelength it's so clever.

Other sewing projects, hmmmm. Cushions, yes. A peg bag. Or something baby-related like a simple nighty or a waterproof pouch for wipes etc. There are tutorials online to make fold-up changing mats if you've got some suitable fabric.

Baby Before is fine I think. Just had the usual active period during story time, so going to stay put tonight and discuss with mw at my checkup tomorrow. Speaking of baby, he just feels so big and so low that it's like I could sneeze him out. Refusing to believe he will be anything other than a May baby - come on little one.

Purpleball · 25/05/2015 20:42

Greys anatomy Smile I love it Smile

Planning to watch them all again on Mat leave. My sister offered me ER which I'm tempted by. I also loved Six Feet Under but I gave up about season 4.

We also like Elementary and loved Dexter

WilHarlot · 25/05/2015 20:52

Dulcet do you mean to avoid having to get a crib or something? I'm pretty sure Zyla said her wee one always moved herself round so she was horizontal in the crib/bednest whatever they have. I can't see it would matter much as long as there was enough space to avoid banging their head if they somehow worked upwards. Only thing would be it would be hard to tuck blankets in initially.

DulcetMoans · 25/05/2015 21:12

I'm not actually sure why he asked wil but he was asking about just using half the cot when they are little to stop them shuffling down. I'll have to ask him again!

It is some of the cleverest writing before, you can watch two or three times and get more out of it. Glad you are feeling better about babyBefore! How far off due date are you?

la Also maybe consider The Wire, The Office (US - but after series 1) or Eastbound and Down but that's awkward comedy so not for everyone! I am hoping to watch OITNB when may leave starts.
