Noticed we were getting a bit full in the last thread! Roll up, roll up for more scanning, puking, worrying and other distractions to take us through the first trimester! Grin

My scan isn't until three weeks today Sad I am a bit annoyed, I've not even heard from my midwife yet and I need to arrange various things like a local consultant appointment, I need a stitch done at 12 weeks and also need confirmation I can have progesterone pessaries. I am 8+5 today and starting to feel anxious that the things I need won't be ready or I'll have to wait too long. Arrgghhh. I knew I was pregnant when I got my implantation bleed so it already feels like I've been pregnant for ages and as its a high risk pregnancy I feel like I'm being ignored a bit or at least low priority SadConfused

afloat · 27/05/2015 08:03

Hello everyone! I've been gone for about two weeks and loving catching up on the thread. DP and I were hiking, well, more like walking a bit to some lovely place and staying a few days. Most of my preg symptoms left, as long as I took it easy. Amazing! I'm at a conference for work in the same country now and as soon as it started my tiredness and nausea and right back. I see a few people have had the same thing up-thread - I propose that it's not the location but whether you're working that matters!

To whoever was talking about bumps and maternity clothes, wow I have Such a bloat bump that makes me look much farther on than I am. I've heard that top shop jeans are great too. My plan is to go to the shop and try some on, then buy from eBay as I'm a cheapskate Grin

Thanks for the swimming tip - argh I've been doing loads of breaststroke. Fortunately I taught myself the front crawl last year and am happy doing lengths with that now. I found when I sorted my breathing technique I could keep on going instead of gulping for air every half length!

Ok, enough from me. Happy to be back! Good luck with scans today!

Hummingbird15 · 27/05/2015 08:26

Good luck today shiny and others having scans. And babs can you chase the hospital? My referral from the gp never reached them but I was waiting 4 weeks for an appointment before I called and found that out, so maybe give them a call to check your file is still where it should be and you are on their radar?

I had an email from a good friend this morning saying she has just miscarried at 9 weeks. Feel so sad for her as they've had lots of fertility difficulties and I'm now also dreading telling her about our pregnancy as if hers had gone ahead we'd have been due 1.5 weeks apart so I think it will be especially hard for her Sad

Jebel · 27/05/2015 08:34

Sorry to alarm everyone with the breaststroke news, some people are fine but if you can get a float and kick straight legs that is better! It's probably too early now to be a problem, I think it is only later than your ligaments start loosening but I could be wrong!

babs sorry you are not getting the attention you need, I would make a lot of noise and stamp my feet!

afloat sounds like you had a lovely time. I am doing a bit more walking than before and I think it is helping with the nausea.

Chandlers I have bought some v cheap Thai cotton trousers with a massively expanding waist that are available at every market stall I passed. I think they will get me through the Qatar summer although are a bit circus-ish for anywhere outside the house! Has been raining solidly for two days so hoping for some sunshine now. DD has hardly ever seen rain so a bit confused.

orange I have been weirdly fine on holiday too although feeling a bit out of it today.

I had a lady come up to me in a shop and ask when baby due! Made me quite happy that is looking bumpish rather than more fat! Definitely showing so much earlier this time.

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 27/05/2015 08:54

Morning everyone!

Shiny Good luck for your appointment this morning. I will be thinking about you! Looking forward to hear how you get on.

Good luck for the other scans too!

I'm back at work today and really cannot be arsed! I have my scan in the morning and have a half day for it so will have another wee lie in because it isn't until 10am.

My symptoms have really faded now, which I am trying not to worry about. Glad the scan is tomorrow to see what is happening.

WaitingForEgg · 27/05/2015 09:39

BabyFaced my symptoms also seem to be fading, no idea when scan is tho as i'm assuming they arrange that at booking in? Hopefully not too long away. It may just be because we are approaching the end of first trimester (I hope)

shinysparklythings · 27/05/2015 11:07

Wow! What an amazing morning.

Went in for the scan and it was incredible to see the bean. It's heart was beating away! He was very wiggly and kept jumping around. We saw his head, body, both legs and arms, nasal bone, and the coolest thing was seeing his brain! We got two free pics as well. Sure I caught hubby with a tear in his eye!

The nurse that tried to take my bloods just about got enough in each of the four vials too.

Just rang my mum and she was so excited for us :)

Hope everyone else's scans go as smoothly. X x

ChandlersFarang · 27/05/2015 11:16

sparkly that is amazing news!! Woo hoo!! Well done!! And also how exciting telling your mum. Are you going to tell everyone now..?!

Jebel - that's such a good idea getting some of those fisherman's trousers!! I'm sooo going to the markets in bangkok this week to pick myself up some similar stretchy tat. There's also quite a lot of dresses around with stretchy waists and stuff which are basically one-size-fits-all, so might get some of those too! Good call!!

shinysparklythings · 27/05/2015 11:33

Thanks chandlers I know there is still 6 months to go, but this feels like a huge relief. Yup, will tell people now. Putting off ringing my dad as I'm sure he will be less than enthusiastic and I don't want a downer at the mo.

These trousers sound good ladies! I am currently loving my stretchy wide legged trousers. Plenty of space and nice and light. Though I imagine it's far warmer where you two are.

Sweets27 · 27/05/2015 11:35

Oh shiny, how exciting! Congratulations!!

I had my scan this morning - it was to focus on the cyst (12 week scan on Friday), but still got to see little baby who's doing really well. It was such a relief - I'd worked my way up into a really nervous state. Like shiny, I got to see all its little limbs and heartbeat, and it was seriously wriggly. It waved its hand in a little high five when we took a photo and I had a little cry Blush

As for the cyst, everything looks fine - no change in size although the expanding uterus has pushed it up and out of the way a bit, near to my liver and right kidney, where it's apparently less likely to cause pain or other problems. I managed to speak to one of the senior consultants who was very reassuring, and the short story is I think I'm going to leave it rather than have it removed, and they'll just keep monitoring it throughout the pregnancy.

so all in all, today is a good day Smile

shinysparklythings · 27/05/2015 11:39

sweets yAy! So glad your cyst is behaving and that you got to see the bean, a little high five yay!! I can't get over how incredible it is.

Andifyoudontfirstsucceed · 27/05/2015 11:48

Morning all. Just had my 12 week scan- official due date is the 8th of December Smile baby very stubborn and had to be nuggled a bit into moving. Feeling so relieved after 2 early miscarriages - this one is going well!!

Sweets27 · 27/05/2015 11:54

Oh how exciting andifatfirst, congratulations! It must be such a relief if you have twice not reached this stage. Very happy for you Smile

I've updated your date on the stats. shiny, any change to yours?

Hope everyone else is doing well today.

shinysparklythings · 27/05/2015 12:01

Fantastic news andiratfirst it must be so good for you to get to this stage fx for another healthy 28 weeks!

sweets yup to the 7th please! which is what I had it at originally based on conception rather than edd thanks, sages me digging my laptop out!

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 27/05/2015 12:08

Excellent news shiny, sweets and andifatfirst!

Good news as well about the cyst sweets.

Are you guys all planning on sharing the good news then?

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 27/05/2015 12:48

Congrats to all those seeing their beans!! Lovely news

abi2790 · 27/05/2015 12:55

ineed I am definitely getting some flutters from baby. Makes me a bit less nervous about my scan on Friday!

Congratulations to those with all your great scan news! I'm super jealous that I've got to wait another 2 days!!

FlorIxora · 27/05/2015 14:11

Afternoon.

Lovely to see your scan Shiny. There seems to be much happening for our little clan this week.

afloat Welcome back! and well done on all the walking!

Someone here said on Monday that they were 10+1 and feeling dreadful. I was 10+0 that day and though "Boy I'm lucky I seem to be over the worst of it".

I take it back. So first vomit yesterday and let looking green, shaky and feeling cold. Today, apparently we're doing all-day nausea. Bleurgh!

I didn't feel better after the vom Chandlers I just felt like I wanted my mum to be honest.

Still, tomorrow I have a scan + bloods for privateHarmony test. I cannot wait to see how much our bean has grown.

Sorry for those of you who are getting nowhere with scan dates and booking ins. So frustrating. Flowers

BabyFaced Thank you for all your accounts of your DD anniversary celebration. Very generous of you. It sounded like a lovely day.

I'm forgetting loads of you that I wanted to mention - gah.

Re trousers - I give up. The size 16 jeggings in M&S were not comfortable, I'm still only a 12-14 but just can't do trousers anymore. Psychologically, it's too early to buy maternity jeans.

afloat · 27/05/2015 14:42

Urgh flor, sorry to hear about your pukiness. I hope your work has calmed down and you can take it easy a bit. I must say I am also starting to feel like I'm in the "home strait" of the first trimester and thinking it surely won't get worse Hmm Finger crossed you recover soon!

All my trousers are too tight at this stage but all my dresses and skirts make me feel really frumpy ...

Jebel · 27/05/2015 14:42

woohoo shiny, sweets and ifatfirst great news.

Flor sorry you are feeling crap again. I am 10+6 and nausea also just came back for me too but is not too bad. Good luck for your scan and test tomorrow, I get my harmony results in a week and can't wait!

Chandlers now I'm unemployed, I can wear that stretchy tat all summer! It has its benefits!

babyfaced good luck for tomorrow.

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 27/05/2015 14:52

Thanks Jebel, am definitely starting to get a bit anxious.

Ok, I think I may be losing the plot...I feel teeny tiny flutters too, though surely it is way to early? It feels exactly the same as how movement felt with my dd. It is too early though, isn't it? Am only 10+3! How far along are you Abi and is this your 2nd dc?

Thanks Flor, we did have a lovely day. Sorry you're feeling crap. I had a quick nosy in the maternity section in Debenhams yesterday and hated everything. There is such a gap in the market for decent maternity wear at a reasonable price!!

WaitingForEgg · 27/05/2015 16:18

Oh Shiny what a lovely scan! Congrats!
Sweets glad cyst is all ok
Fantastic news Andif
Just had booking in with Midwife and she was lovely. I had a terrible morning with a really dreadful exam, so I think if she had been less than nice I may have been sent over the edge! Weight was under BMI of 30 so i've been doing a whole lot of worrying over nothing (and my scales must be wrong). She couldn't get my blood, though many people never can, so got to head back tomorrow and see if the practice nurse can do it. Just the waiting game for my scan appointment now Smile

TerryTheGreenHorse · 27/05/2015 17:02

Have you tried ASOS baby faced?

I always wear stripes and they have loads of Breton tops and that type of thing, and h&m are alright. Ive found hardly anywhere has a good range in the shop now you have to get everything online which is a pain.

Had my booking in appt today and scan date of 9th June so not too long now, ive been really ill over the past week and had some bleeding on Monday, it looked pretty old and they didn't seem concerned enough to send me for an early scan, so I'm going to try not to worry and wait until the 9th.

TerryTheGreenHorse · 27/05/2015 17:02

Oh forgot to say congratulations to everyone with lovely scan news, really nice to log on and see that.

Has anyone set up facebook yet?

FlorIxora · 27/05/2015 17:02

BabyFaced don't get me started on maternity clothes... So far I've only liked the look of Seraphine (seems ok pricewise) and Maddersons (All Saints-level of expensive).

I've looked at H&M(meh), M&S (the range is behind the cot and nursery furniture section which completely enraged me), Topshop (Super disappointed - expected miracles), Maman Jojo Bebe (so bland) Mothercare (their designer should be taken round the back of the building and shot). John Lewis (oonly sell maternity on line).

Ladies the lesson here is the high street wants us to become pariahs and doesn't think we deserve to even try the stuff - just buy online. We shouldn't be seen we should just stay home and embrace our transformation into heifers. We'll be mothers soon, no need for us to look nice and fancy.
