Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

Hiding I got 3 visits: 1 day after birth, 1 5 days later then the last at 10 days where I was signed off. HV came in between 5 and 10 days

cinnamongreyhound · 03/05/2015 20:02

That feeling is let down Hidingthefear. You should be signed off by the midwives around day 10 when they're happy that you and baby are well and usually that baby has regained birth weight.

Excellent news on the feeding Lauren82000.

Hope all is well RL20.

Hope you managed to get out BrixtonBunny, we had a lovely walk in the forest today as a family when it stopped hammering down!

RL20 · 03/05/2015 20:42

Thanks for concerns thankfully all is ok and rash is just a sweat rash. The doctor was lovely and we were seen within 5 minutes.
Now we are settled at home... or so I thought.
Excuse my language but AIBU to be pissed off that MIL has popped round and is rambling on and on whilst she can see I am clearly typing on my phone. Even better that me and DS are on our own with her because OH has gone to pick his DD up as a last second thing because it's bank holiday tomorrow. With MIL there I couldn't really explain that I just wanted a quiet night as it's been a long day and wasn't expecting to have his DD tonight. I know I sound selfish but I just want a fucking quiet night.

RL20 · 03/05/2015 20:43

Thanks Brixton it does say from birth but have gone back to using the original one anyway and hope that it makes a difference x

BrixtonBunny · 03/05/2015 20:43

Cinnamon yes, we went for a walk in Tooting Common which was lovely! So sunny, I didn't even wear tights. Though body currently looks like a giant pale beached whale Hmm

We tested out the pram as have been taking DD out in the sling so far. We have the uppababy vista which has a great smooth "ride" and a lovely big basket, but my god it's heavy! Thinking for journeys where I have to use public transport I'll just use the sling, as can't fathom being able to lug it up and down stairs.

Your walk sounds lovely too Smile

BrixtonBunny · 03/05/2015 20:54

RL x-post, great news about the rash! Grin

Less good news about MIL though - can you tell her you're exhausted and going to bed, and escape with DS?!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 03/05/2015 21:28

Glad all is Ok RL. I'd just say I was off to bed and leave her... or at least in my head that's what I'd do. In reality I'd probably just sit and smile politely while seething...

Hope everyone has had a good weekend so far.

DD has been awake since 10am and I'm so tired. DH had a 3 hour nap today despite the fact he sleeps on the sofa so gets a full night every night... It's making me grumpy!! And we have a busy day planned tomorrow so no napping! Tired at the thought!!

FiRaffe · 03/05/2015 21:41

Glad to hear the rash is all okay RL and sorry to hear your quiet evening won't be quiet.

Getting out sounds good Brixton and i'm sure you'll find what works for you on the pram/transport front. I'm glad I can move our pram easily and even managed one handed steering when DS was crying the other day!

Hope you have a nice day LittleGrey and get some sleep.

Lauren82000 · 03/05/2015 23:00

Going to be one of those nights I think. Currently feeding hourly Hmm

PenguinPoser · 03/05/2015 23:09

I'm losing the plot with feeding - don't know where one feed ends and the next begins! Touch wood she's currently asleep so going to bed. DH has the expressed bottle for the next feed. Although I'll still have to top her up no doubt.

RL I'm pleased the rash was nothing to worry about but you definitely did the right thing getting checked.

Aargh DD normally tanks up until about 2300 and then sleeps thru till about 2am. OH used to have to give her ebm during that time but now she Sleeps thru I just freeze my ebm.
Tonight she decided to not sleep at all Sad why?!! Gonna be a looooong night and OH starting work at 5am tomor Sad

daholster · 04/05/2015 01:57

I appear to have missed my bedtime. 2am is NEXT feed time?! I did one at 12.30 (late for him but he was so cosy on his rug and didn't wake...) and then he didn't settle once we got upstairs and I've fed him again. Left him upright on me due to reflux a and now he seems to be asleep... Shall I try to put him in bed? Decisions decisions... It's eating into my 2.5hr max sleep...

Oh dd is unsettled too!!! Too many strawberries at tea time I think (about 10 big strawberries she wouldn't share!) Shock

So hoping for some sleep... Here goes...

FiRaffe · 04/05/2015 02:17

Bad night here too. Has been on hourly feeds pretty much since 8, and won't settle in his basket between so no sleep here. Wish my mattress was firmer so we could at least rest together... don't suppose anyone has any suggestions on how to stop him rolling towards me so I can actually sleep do they?

Lauren82000 · 04/05/2015 02:27

Couple of strategically placed pillows Fi? Other than that I really don't know.

We seem to have slept between feeds Smile just up for the first one since going to bed at 11ish. Had both boobs and a right good burp so could be a few hours till the next one or I could be holding her till then. Shock The uncertainty is annoying!

PenguinPoser · 04/05/2015 03:18

Rolled up towel maybe Fi?

Hope you're all getting some sleep.
DH has just done the ebm but we have an awake baby so guessing I'm going to be up in about 5 mins feeding her and trying to get her back to sleep.

RE co sleeping... I woke up about 15-20 minutes ago with DS next to me and my phone still on the quilt. Fell asleep by the looks of it at 11.30pm when we came to bed Confused. As I keep saying I hate the idea of co sleeping so much but DS is so settled on the bed Sad

Congratulations Maki79!

Sorry to hear about all those having bad nights Sad

daholster · 04/05/2015 04:35

typing andHe's been up since 03.30. Still awake and munching. An hour and a half sleep! Cheeky monkey... I'm falling asleep!

daholster · 04/05/2015 04:39

(As evidenced by my last jumbled post!)

RL20 · 04/05/2015 05:18

Congratulations maki, love the name!

FiRaffe · 04/05/2015 07:07

Congratulations Maki.

Might try a towel, he seems to actually roll himself on his side so terrified of him suffocating. Think there will be lots of extra sleep going on when DH is at work this week, then hopefully I can keep DS quiet during the night. Problem with living in a bungalow is I can't escape elsewhere... His cry reverberates throughout the house!

smogsville · 04/05/2015 07:53

Hope everyone has had a bit of sleep here or there.

So I got a shock two nights ago that I forgot to ask about. Went to get DS out of Moses basket as he was making hungry noises and he was lying on his front! Needless to say we had put him down on his back. How did he get onto his front by himself?

PenguinPoser · 04/05/2015 08:00

Congratulations Maki!

Smogs wow that's scary if your baby can roll over already,,,!

I'm wondering if our boiler starting is waking Sam up? This morning I went and go him and just laid him on top of our bed and he almost instantly went back to sleep! He then slept for another 1hr 20 before he woke hungry.

Had a meltdown last night and couldn't stop crying. I know it's probably hormonal and tiredness. Dh p'd me off but not really his fault at all! And then got upset about Sams kidney, think because we've had some time off the hospital I've been able to forget it all but with next appointment in a few days it's brought it all back. Worried about the possible surgery but also worried about his life without it. I just sat on the sofa with him last night saying sorry I didn't look after him better and crying. Dh in his usual practical nature just said 'why are you upset now nothing has changed and you've been coping with it until now' Hmm. Then started feeling guilty at how little I've done with my big boys, they are best friends and do everything together and very rarely want to do anything with me only the occasional cuddle or if they want food or drink! Yesterday other than put them in the bath and get their meals ready all I did was ds1's homework and he hates it! Ds2 wanted to help me bake for the race today but then changed his mind as ds1's game was much more exciting! Dh is back to work tomorrow and I'm dreading coping with school runs, minded kids and a newborn and he'll be much more stressed and grumpy once he's back at work too. The sun is out this morning which helps but I can't shake this feeling of sadness since about 8.30 yesterday evening Sad
