Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

Lucky you cinnamon I've not had any sleep yet. Still snuggled on my chest but will not go in basket Confused might have to get that snuggle pod out and give it a go.

RL20 · 29/04/2015 04:34

No sleep yet here either Lauren. Won't settle in basket at all ConfusedConfused

ChickenMe · 29/04/2015 05:00

Sorry to those having crap nights. I find the days tough ATM-cluster feeding. My Mum and Mil both told me to put something that smells of me in DD's basket. She is ok at night but during the day she cluster feeds all day and it is hell. She wants to be on me permanently and after about 5pm won't even go in the sling because that is accelerated cluster feeding time. OH has been on lates so gets home at midnight. Sad
Mil kindly held DD for an hour while I did a few things
I'm wearing a scabby old t shirt to bed for a few nights so I can put it in her basket somehow, maybe fashion it into a sheet. Hopefully it'll smell of me - don't know if anyone's had any joy with this.

FiRaffe · 29/04/2015 06:41

Morning, sorry for the bad nights ladies.

First part of our night was good but the 1.30 feed then resulted in crying and screaming. About 3 I got DS down...For maybe 10 mind before he refused to settle but promptly fell asleep on me so no real sleep and i'm dead on my feet at the mo. Hv is visiting this afternoon so I have got to be awake and alert for then.

cowbiscuits · 29/04/2015 08:07

Morning all. Hope you're OK.

We came home last night. I had been awske all sunday night and monday night with only some half hour naps in between. So I could barely keep my eyes open!

Still didn't get to sleep until well after midnight as the new boy wanted to feed, poop, feed, burp and repeat! Lots of little things I'm remembering from when ds1 was tiny. Even the smell of newborn poop made me emotional in the way smells bring back memories!

Despite me thinking I might have a third sleepless night, I did get a some decent stretches of sleep, albeit not enough, so im feeling a bit more human today.

DH is taking DS1 to nursery and then popping to shops.

I have a poo on its way and I'm absolutely dreading it. Confused

Lauren82000 · 29/04/2015 08:22

Well not long after that last 4.30 post she finally went in the basket! Woke up about 10mins ago ravenous for boob. Managed a whole 4&1/2 hours without a feed. I'm impressed. Shame she won't go down straight after each one.

Think I'm going to roll some hand towels and stick them either side of her. Do I put them under the sheet or on top of the sheet? Her basket sheets are pretty tight as it is.

ChickenMe · 29/04/2015 11:49

Congratulations on your new arrival cow biscuits and good luck on your poo.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 29/04/2015 12:50

Just on the way to DD's newborn hearing check. The letter specifically says to feed and change before hand so the baby is calm. This does not take into account my day time cluster feeding baby!!!

FiRaffe · 29/04/2015 12:58

Our hv is coming out to do the hearing check this afternoon. Do you have to go to your clinic or something little grey?

cinnamongreyhound · 29/04/2015 13:33

We had ours done at the hospital and he was fast asleep. Assume of baby I'd feeding the gulping will interfer with sound? Otherwise that would be perfect way to keep them calm!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 29/04/2015 13:41

Yes we went to clinic at the hospital. She's managed to pass despite screaming her way through it!!!

Hospital appointment today and had another sweep. They seems convinced I'll not need induction on Friday but they said that last week too! Big fat liars! Hmmm, we'll see how we go. Midwife said she would have been able to break my waters but since I'm not contracting can't and if induction on Friday goes ahead it'll be quick. Whoop! Come on baby. Come meet us!

PenguinPoser · 29/04/2015 15:27

Yay for sleep in the basket Lauren! I use a rolled up cellular blanket around dds head - not under the sheet.

Pleased the hearing test was ok littlegreycat- I thought they were all done in hospitals, ours was anyway before discharge!

Sounds promising kismac fingers crossed for baby before Friday but at least the end is in sight.

Hope everyone is better now squattingneville. D&V is the absolute pits.

DD weighs 7lb 6 this morning. She's gained 6oz in a week and 12oz in 2 weeks so hopefully that will be enough to allay the concerns about her weight. She's still under the 2nd centile but at least she's gaining! She's the smallest baby at my breastfeeding group and not the youngest!!

Glad everything went ok with hearing check little

Hope you're feeling a bit more settled and have got some sleep RL

Kismac that's good news fingers crossed for a new arrival by the weekend.

We have a new arrival, no not the Bump who is far too happy inside, but a house. Officially a homeowner. Yay and Eek all at the same time. Not overly keen on the area but the garden is just too lovely.

Lauren82000 · 29/04/2015 16:20

Don't actually have a cellular blanket. We have hand knitted ones but they are a bit chunky. Will try hand towel rolled under the sheet tonight.

FiRaffe · 29/04/2015 16:49

Our hv did DS's hearing test here today. He passed, thankfully. She weighed him too and he's in the 0.4th centile. Can't believe how small he is, but consistently so.

Still have my fingers crossed for you kismac.

Great news on the house gem!

RL20 · 29/04/2015 18:03

Hope everyone's ok, trying to catch up inbetween my self indulgent posts!

Good news on DS's hearing FiRaffe Grin.

Yay for new house Brummagem! Grin Baby next then! Grin.

Not long to go kismac - make the most of sleep now Grin.

Rang the birth register place today and earliest they have is 11th of May so that's all booked in now. One thing ticked off my list - and it is an actual list on my phone. Baby brain has taken over!

DS is still fidgitey in the night - up most of the night again - has anyone tried infacol? I know someone mentioned it on here the other day but can't remember who. Have bought some today so want to try it before the next feed.

FiRaffe · 29/04/2015 18:22

Yep, we're using infacol before every feed. No idea if it is making any difference though any more!

Good idea with the phone list.... I need to do one as my to do list is too long!

RL20 · 29/04/2015 20:57

I'm sure it's tummy ache he's got because he kicks his legs around even after he's been settled for 10 minutes. Not sure what else to try if the infacol doesn't work.

I have to write everything down on my notes on my phone! From shopping list to when DS last had a feed!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 29/04/2015 21:20

I have a feeding app RL. Means I can keep track of when I feed and for how long (and which boob from as I'm bf!). Literally no idea how I'd know what I'm doing without it!!

daholster · 29/04/2015 21:24

Good luck kismac!

squatting how awful for you all! D&V is utterly horrid, glad everyone is recovered. How did you manage feeding while poorly? I'm impressed you seem so calm about the whole thing!

RL hugs, that's all I can offer. It does get better, you are still in early days and if I didn't have dh at home I would still be seriously struggling I think so you are doing a stellar job. Talk over it all with your health visitor.

Well my poor boy's bottom was getting better and is now getting worse again despite the canesten at every nappy change, steroid cream 3 times a day, lots of nappy changes and no nappy time when we can manage it. It makes me sad. He also seems to have got reflux. Since his tongue tie was done last Thursday he vomits more frequently and was not settling for longer than 10mins after 2am and I was getting seriously sleep deprived. Infacol was helping for the last two days in getting big burps up and he settled much better but this afternoon he has been just as bad, no burps, hiccups, vomiting and horrible bursts of screaming painful crying that break my heart, writhing and wriggling, and some episodes of his throat closing up so he can't breathe again which had been getting fewer and further between. Not sure why its working less well.

Saw health visitor at clinic yesterday. He's gaining weight fine but she agrees sounds like reflux. He also has the SMELLIEST nappies, even though he is breastfed. She said this is often a sign of cows milk protein intolerance and this can worsen reflux too, plus the bigger volumes of milk he is now able to take more quickly post tie release is probably making things worse.

So she recommended I cut out all dairy for the next 2 weeks and see if he is better. I'd do anything for him to feel better but I have to say day 1 of no dairy has been hard! Dd's birthday means cake and chocolate and ice cream everywhere. No nice cup of tea. Party on Saturday when I will just have jelly and potential short break next week with no cream teas etc makes me feel gloomy! Still, good for my waistline perhaps?

If he does have an intolerance I do wonder if its making his nappy rash worse. And his dry skin. Probably not the newborn axne but that can jog on too, making my beautiful boy look like a spotty teenager!!!

So I'm sad ds gets in so much pain. He did sleep better on infacol, I got a 4 hr stretch between 1 and 5 but then clustered from 5am.

Yawn...

kismac · 29/04/2015 21:30

Congratulations on the weight gain Squatting and Penguin and glad your little ones passed the hearing test, LittleGreyCat and Fi.

Aww, Im a bad person. My friend who is due a week after me text to say she's started having contractions. Que me being very grumpy. Obviously, not to her but Im feeling a bit annoyed. Stupid, i know. It's her second so it makes sense that she'd probably have her baby before me.

Ooh the house looks lovely Brum. Very exciting!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/04/2015 21:34

Sounds positive kismac! You'd have been ok if I'd been your friend as my second was just as late as my first Wink

Congratulations brummagem, it's more yay than eek! My first mortgage was £32,300 and I cried a lot now my mortgage is a lot more and I don't worry about it at all!!!

Hope your ds is well soon SquattingNeville! And you regain some sanity Flowers

Great news on everyones weight gain, we're going to the clinic tomorrow Smile

kismac · 29/04/2015 21:34

Ooh Daholster. Your poor wee one and you having a overhaul your diet. That sucks. I hope you get to the bottom of the cause soon and your little one starts to perk up.
