Hi all, Im new to this thread. Im 12w2days and have my 12 week scan tomorrow. This is my first pregnancy after a mmc in Jan (which i discovered at 12 week scan) so feeling anxious. Bit silly since i had scan last week (went private due to anxiety) and it all looked good. But i can't seem to shake ominous feelings! I keep having to remind myself that everyone feels anxious at this stage and its not some sign of impending doom!

ehealy · 28/04/2015 18:17

New Mrsx I am worried I will get a high risk result because I am 37 just be clear with your viewpoint to your partner. Like you if my baby has Downs or any non life threatening condition I would never terminate whilst my DP disagrees. On a happier note check out this new thread for top tips of what to buy for FTM's
What dont I need to buy?

LouLouCheese · 28/04/2015 18:35

Hi all, I haven't really posted yes as wanted to wait til my 12 week scan, well turns out that's not going to be for another 2 weeks!

So unhappy as whilst going by lmp in within the time period for the NT test (although cutting it fine 13+3) I had two scans at EPU due to bleeding and although not official dating scans they brought my dates earlier by 3 days. I called the ante natal clinic to ask for an earlier date and explained but they said no Appts available but I should be ok!

I am worried as I am 38 and when I had my DD almost 6 years ago the blood test (prob quad test back then) came back as 1-300.

Just don't know what to do, am considering a private NT test but this is done by a company called Ultra Sound Direct, has anyone any experience of this company? It is cheaper than paying for Harmony which is my other option.

On a lighter note I would recommend dried apricots for constipation, they also have iron in them xxx

Focusfocus · 28/04/2015 18:46

I've had experience of Ultrasound Direct at Cambridge for a 10 week scan and they were absolutely lovely. Couldn't have given us more time, couldn't have been more caring and welcoming.

Crumbelina · 28/04/2015 20:03

Ehealy, don't worry too much about the age factor. I'm 37 in a couple of weeks and my result (NT plus bloods) came back last week at 1 in 9,600.

Crumbelina · 28/04/2015 20:12

Yep, I've been to ultrasound direct for an 8 week early scan. All fine and dandy - would recommend.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 28/04/2015 20:16

Are you in Cambridge Focus? Me too!

mrsscarlettbutler · 28/04/2015 20:40

NewMrsX so sorry that you are going through such a worrying time. I hope the hospital are being supporting and looking after you?

I had an appointment with the consultant today. It did not go well Sad ended up crying which was mortifying as just couldn't stop and had to go back out into the waiting room doing proper hiccuping sobs (trying to do it quietly!) and queue up to book my next lot of appointments. Horrible! Was nothing to do with the baby really, just the doctor was really unpleasant and dismissive and I'd waited over an hour and a half for my appointment so was starving and sick by the time I got seen. Ugh.

Lauramum23 · 28/04/2015 20:48

Mrs Scarlett do you like gone with the wind by any chance!? I love it used to watch all the time when I was younger and I have 3 special barbies of Scarlett o hara!

He sounds like an arse by the way! I hope he felt guilty!

I need sweets.... A refreshers bar perhaps!? I don't crave chocolate but sweets oh yes!

Lauramum23 · 28/04/2015 20:52

I have a refreshers bar how rude at 8.50pm we have quite a good selection of sweets so I'll be fine! No more tonight tho. Funny enough I've never been a sweet person in my first pregnancy I loved fruit pastilles

Blueblink · 28/04/2015 20:55

Ladies, I've just had a bit of a fall Sad I managed to walk backwards and trip over the open dishwasher door, breaking the door, sending me flying along with my plate which promptly smashed all over the floor.
I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself, incredibly stupid and have a very sore bottom and back where I fell! Looks like the dishwasher is buggered so that will be an expense we don't need right now!
Obviously main worry right now is baby. DP is freaking out! I just hope baby is all cushioned in my belly. Feeling quite worried!Sad

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 28/04/2015 21:00

Blueblink I'm sure baby will be fine as they are in a nice warm swimming pool so the impact on them isn't as much as on you. They will scan you after a fall if you're worried though.

NewMrsX · 28/04/2015 21:03

Oh Blue Sad how did you land? They're very well protected in there xx

NewMrsX · 28/04/2015 21:06

Thanks Butter that's very helpful

On a lighter note, did anyone else get a feeling about the sex at the scan? I never had any feelings about it before but as soon as it popped up on screen all I could think was that it was a boy. Very weird

Lauramum23 · 28/04/2015 21:06

Oh dear! You wally!
Baby will be totally fine and snuggled up I'm sure. If you are worried give your midwife a ring. I often hit my shins/ankles on the open dishwasher but I have to say I ain't done that and I am clumsy Grin
Get your feet up with some sweets xxx

Focusfocus · 28/04/2015 21:32

guybrush no! was just in Cambridge for the day and got scanned on way out of Cambridge!
Blue , hope you're not sore from the fall!
Scarlett - don't worry about crying, we are going through very transformative, challenging times...

Night night folks. Our little pup has climbed into her bed with her teddy bear constant security blanket and DH and I sat and watched her forever. Oh, may all be well with all of us in our warm little households. Here's DPup - light of our lives! Goodnight!

Quick question, I've forgotten to take my vitamin for about 4 days now....how bad is that? Hmm

roughtyping · 29/04/2015 07:32

blue hope you're feeling a bit better today! I would be exactly the same!

On Monday a woman I work with was all 'aww I can see your bump' and I had to tell her it's just fat from too much food Blush oh dear!

roughtyping · 29/04/2015 07:33

BlueBananas · 29/04/2015 08:23

Scan dayyy Grin
And I can't find the bloody letter! Trying to find the number of the scan department now because I don't know if my scans 2 or half past Blush
Good luck to all my scan day buddies today!

CoffeeTwo · 29/04/2015 08:44

Hi ladies, we're just on our hols at the moment but wanted to pop by and say hello and good luck to everyone with scans this week!

Jucymyname · 29/04/2015 09:36

Yes it's my scan day today too! I'm already in a waiting room and bursting for a wee...
Good luck to all today's scanners!

BowiesJumper · 29/04/2015 10:04

Welcome Sarah!

Good luck to the scanners! Jucy I had to go and empty my bladder before they could scan because it was so full it was getting in the way! Ha.

Blueblink, I wouldn't worry, they are well cushioned and it doesn't sound like you landed on your tummy so you should be fine!

Coffee, have a lovely holiday! Jealous!!

BlueBananas · 29/04/2015 10:16

Ok I have a time, got a long wait though! Seems like waiting is all I've done in this pregnancy!
Good luck Jucy, I need to drink lots today, at my scan on Monday they had medi a urine sample just before I went in for the scan (Hmm) and the scanner actually said it was hard for her to scan and she was pushing down seriously hard - it was not pleasant!
I can't wait to see some more pics, slightly overexcited today, must calm self!
