Hello all! Had a bit more spotting this morning and some cramps so off to the GP I went and they're sending me up to the EPU to get checked out. The spotting is less than last weekend so I'm trying to keep hopeful. I'm just starting to appreciate how straightforward my last pregnancy was!

Welcome Chic and wow twins! How exciting :)

ThreeBean really please to hear about your positive scan!

Lovely scan pictures blue ehealy rough newbian and mulli

and rough so sweet to hear about your DS's reaction I can't wait to tell our little boy :)

BowiesJumper · 17/04/2015 11:42

Gosh Focus! You're only 3 days ahead of me and look at you! I mean my tummy was sticking out a bit anyway before pregnancy (ha) but not a sniff of a bump yet.

BlueBananas · 17/04/2015 11:45

Lovely scan pic newbian all these scans are making me so excited to see mine!
But so nervous that it's twins, we have twins in the family - my brothers are twins! And the midwife when talking about my assisted delivery kept saying, of course all this will change when we find out it's twins at 12 weeks! She was convinced I was having twins, no idea why but it's making me nervous that she's noticed something that us unprofessionals have missed!
And I am big so DP agrees with her and keeps laughing that one will have to sleep in the garden because we haven't got room for 2 more Hmm
Wow focus that is a serious bump! You won't be able to keep that a secret for too long!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 17/04/2015 12:04

No bump here. I can feel my uterus is swollen when I put my hands over my lower abdomen (the bit right above my pube line!) but it wouldn't be noticeable to anyone else as it's so low down! I don't think the uterus properly rises out of the pelvis for a while yet.

That said, it's my second pregnancy and I'm having twins so I'm expecting to show a bit earlier! Didn't show until 26 weeks or so with dd.

Has anyone had any thoughts about how long to take off work? I'm thinking about going back probably July next year because my life has much more balance when I work (I do 3 days a week). It's going to be a real struggle financially having 3 in childcare but I definitely don't want to be a sahm.

FlossyLil · 17/04/2015 12:11

Bowies we're same due date and scan date!! Smile

TakesTwoToTango · 17/04/2015 12:16

No bump here. Either but boy am, I bloated by the end of each day!! I could theoretically fit in my normal clothes but my lower belly feels tender and pressure on out increases the nausea so it's stretchy leggings and mat jeans all the way here at 9+5.

ehealy · 17/04/2015 12:18

I have a belly but always had a little one I'm just not holding it in anymore. I can't wait till it looks like a pregnant belly and not just fat! I'd quite like to show it off. Just bought a book called hypnobirthing it's brilliant as I'm terrified of giving birth and pain. I don't want to read a ton of manuals any recommendations for a first timer?

BlueBananas · 17/04/2015 12:18

guy I work for myself so plan on only having a couple of weeks off, my mum will be having the baby one or 2 days a week while I work and then I'll do an evening while DP is at home
So really hoping for a nice smooth labour and recovery so it doesn't delay me too much!

Flossy yay! Due date & scan twins!

Guybrush, ideally I would like a year but I'm not sure we could afford that. I'm the higher earner so it would be a bit of a struggle. My work's maternity package isn't the best (although I'm saving up my holiday to add to that obviously), so I'm thinking maybe August or September - but we'll see. I guess it depends when we start to really struggle financially!

heloharris · 17/04/2015 12:30

Such lovely scan pics - it's so nice to see them.

My symptoms (during the day) have disappeared to zero which is great as now I can stay awake at work (I can't wait for my scan as I have a niggling doubt that there'll be nothing there!) but during the night - oh geez. Exactly 4 hours after I go to bed I wake up needing the loo. And I'm starving. The other night I was awake from 2.30am to 6am because I was so hungry but I was too lazy to get up again and make something to eat! I now have bedside table snacks just in case. I am eating more than usual, I guess my metabolic rate has gone through the roof.

I have my booking in appointment next week so will be quizzing the midwife about what I can do to combat my hayfever. I don't like waking up with my eyes glued together (eugh).

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 17/04/2015 12:31

ehealy I've heard really good things about this book : www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1741750970/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_65omvb0K2M232
I have to say, I did practice hypnobirthing last time but it all went out the window when I was in labour. My plan now is to just keep an open mind and hope for the best. That's it! Hope is great but expectations are a bit pointless. Hypnobirthing can be brilliant but for me, it made me feel like I'd failed because I found it so much harder than I expected to.

HeirToTheIronThrone · 17/04/2015 13:23

My belly is getting bigger but I'm not sure that's not just crisps... It's a bit more solid but I was at 29 BMI when I fell pregant so not exactly skinny!

Crying what on EARTH is a sausage softie and where can I get one??

cryingbabymess · 17/04/2015 13:45

Heir I never ended up getting one this morning, was too worried and too busy at work in the end. It's just as it says on the tin, sausages in a softie/roll/bap/bun whatever people want to call them! Lol. We've a baker across the road from work, I never usually want anything from it but today all I wanted was a sausage softie! Lol.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 17/04/2015 13:46

A sausage sounds very euphemistic. How can you ask for one without giggling like a teenage boy?

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 17/04/2015 13:47

*sausage softie

Hahahaha guy I've never thought of it that way!!! WinkGrin Softie is what we call our rolls/buns/baps

mrswishywashy · 17/04/2015 14:39

Oh am kind of glad others don't have a bump either, my lower stomach feels harder but no size difference. Just over two weeks until 12 week scan and am so hoping to have a wee wiggler inside. This week I've been a lot less tired and nauseated, in fact I hadn't realised my how strong my symptoms were until I'm feeling better now.

I'm a self employed maternity nurse so won't be returning to the same work. Not possible to work 24/6 with my own little one. I hope to do some temp or part time nannying bringing baby along maybe three months after birth. Also building up my baby consultancy business to help with sleep and feeding. Also pick up my infant massage instructing and happiest baby on the block educating.

SnozzberryPie · 17/04/2015 14:47

mrswishy I'm another fan of the happiest baby on the block, no one else seems to have read it but it really helped dd when she was tiny.

I also recommend natal hypnotherapy cds to anyone who is nervous about the birth, it worked really well for me even though I ended up with all the intervention in the book it helped me to stay calm.

TwoBeesInTheHive · 17/04/2015 14:50

I can feel my uterus starting to pop out and I do have a bloaty bump, but it's not baby yet, I juat can't hold the bloat in anymore! 8+5 today! Grin

mrswishywashy · 17/04/2015 15:06

Snozzberry, it is a good book. I've followed it for years with the babies I've worked with and last year decided to train as an educator so I can teach parents about the steps.

I'll look into hynobirthing but at the end of the day want a healthy delivered baby so will follow medical advice on the day.

Lauramum23 · 17/04/2015 15:23

What a horrid day I've had! I don't know how long I can so the job I'm doing I've only just started it but it's so physical. And I've got a banging headache I started seeing stars and I knew that a massive headache was gonna come along sure enough it has, I feel shit actually, and every single smell in the place was making me feel sick too. Sorry for the moan!

CoffeeTwo · 17/04/2015 16:00

Well the epu couldn't find a reason for the bleed and baby has a strong heartbeat measuring 8 weeks 2 days so I'm happy and just going to try and take it easy Smile
