Hi everyone. I'm with you Lizzz - everything definitely feels much tighter down there - and itchy - and sore - and ...... It annoys me that my dp seems to think he is suffering through not getting enough sex - and just how does that compare with what I am suffering? Anyway, after going through two lots of tests for the itching and pain, with the GP and finding nothing - except Group B Strep (another delightful little thing to worry about) which won't have anything to do with my symptoms, and having tried Canestan to get some relief - (it gave a bit). Am absolutely thrilled with Greenbaby Perenial Gel - Ahhhhhh soothing..... First bit of relief since about 3 months pg. Unless you have a cs you will defo want to have some for after the birth (if not for the itching before....)

ELM · 07/11/2006 12:27

Hi guys,

Was part of the two first threads, then kind of dropped out as we were frantically trying to complete extension.... not done by the way!
Can I join in again please? How is everyone and bumps? (sorry I haven't been able to read all the posts since the last time I logged on!)
Here's the brief summary of whats been happening with me....
My waters broke at 27 weeks (at work) they kept me in hospital for a week to check that there was no signs of infection or labour (thankfully there was neither) pumped me full of steroids and anti-biotics just in case. They've let me out, and go back to work, but I have to go to the hospital 2/3 times a week for checks on baby and me, (my arm is starting to look like a pin-cushion!)
Hopefully if all goes according to plan and the baby decides to stay where he is they will let me go to 36 weeks (Christmas!!) before inducing, although it's day by day at the moment.

Anyway, hope everyone is well. TBH I feel a bit sheepish posting again after all this time, now that something has gone wrong...

ELM · 07/11/2006 12:29

Technically I suppose I should move over to the January thread, but since my EDD was originally 20/01/07 can I stay here please?

ELM · 07/11/2006 12:30

December thread I meant.....doh! Anyway I'm off for another hospital appointment before I make even more of a prat of myself!

Hattie2 · 07/11/2006 12:45

Welcome back ELM, of course you can stay! I'm sure you won't be the only Dec baby we end up with, there's bound to be a couple of early ones.
Hope all goes well for you from now on, fingers crossed.

Following on from dragon's post below I'd definitely recommend the Mothercare mattress with zip off cover - was a life saver when dd went through a 'sicky' stage!

Shimmer · 07/11/2006 12:54

Hi all. Does anyone have any advice on breast pumps? I am trying to get organised and get some stuff bought before Christmas, but breast pumps and feeding stuff is confusing the hell out of me! I am planning to breast feed (hopefully...if all goes according to plan)but do you think it's a good idea to get a couple of bottles, sterilizer and pump now? I've heard the Avent ISIS manual pump is good, and it's not too expensive. Has anyone used this? Is it worth getting the more expensive electronic ones??

poppynic · 07/11/2006 13:02

I breast fed happily but absolutely loathed "pumping". Unless you have to express because you are going back to work or something, I wouldn't be investing in a pump now. I was lent one by a friend (Avent manual - quite good as far as it goes) - and remember being in tears wondering how possibly to assemble it while ill with mastitis - in the end dp came to the rescue, even held it and pumped for me!!! (so if you do end up with one before the baby, it is good idea to work out how it works first)

Loubie37 · 07/11/2006 13:32

Welcome back ELM - you were my due date buddy, it seems strange that you'll be having your little one so soon! Sorry to hear things have gone a biy haywire, it's good that they're looking after you so well though

I've been signed off sick for 2 weeks (hooray!) due to almost constant m/s (why it started so suddenly at 27 weeks when I've only been sick twice before is beyond me!). As a result of the constant nausea/sickness I'm exhausted so it's lovely being able to go back to bed once DH and the kids have gone to work/school and stay there snuggled up for as long as I want

As for the itchyness down there that you all seem to be getting, I'm OK for now, although I suppose it's something I might have to look forward to (not!) as most of you are further on than me? Sex is almost non existent in our house too, although we did have a lovely session last week - it averages out about once a month, I think we've done it 6 times since my BFP!! All I can say to DH when he moans about the lack of it is consider it good practice for after baby arrives

Right I'm off to get some dinner (although why I bother is beyond me as invariably it will end up down the loo

Loubie xx

poppynic · 07/11/2006 13:49

Oh you poor thing re the morning sickness. I had that trouble about food ending up down the loo for the first 4 months - found if I only ate a leeetle bit it would stay down - got really annoying as I love my food. (DS (4) started off with endearing concern but that soon shifted to having fun making wretching noises... and that helped.. not).

becks5109 · 07/11/2006 14:58

hello everyone

haven't been on for a while as been so busy at work but tomorrow is my last day before I jet off to Cape Town to visit my parents for 2 weeks R&R ? can't wait. Its just me and DD going so fingers crossed she behaves on the plane! I've got the phenergan at the ready to make her sleepy and its an overnight flight so I'm hoping to catch up on some magazine reading and maybe even get to watch a film! I plan on doing all my Xmas shopping there too.

Re itching down below ? mine isn't so much itchy as annoyingly sweaty ? got the strimmer to it this morning which took ages as there was so much of it to hack away at! I'm getting my bikini line waxed when I get to SA to hopefully that will keep in under control for a while. Also have an hour long massage booked for 2 days after I arrived so just can't wait.

Enjoy your duvet time Loubie ? sounds horrible having sickness at this stage. I'm a food lover too so the idea of good food going to waste is shockingly horrible!

Had my dr's check up this morning and I'm so happy as baby is head down ? it was breach at the scan and I was convinced it still was so fingers crossed it stays head down as I'm hoping for a home water birth.

Re breast pumps I had an electric one by medela and also a hand one by avent ? avent one was definitely better and kinder on the boobs ? the electric one used to make me sore but I wasn't massively successful with either of them so I'm going to just try to bf this time and not worry too much about pumping I think.

LadyTophamHatt · 07/11/2006 15:06

good to have you back ELM, sorry to hear about the worries you've had.

LadyTophamHatt · 07/11/2006 15:06

good to have you back ELM, sorry to hear about the worries you've had.

2Happy · 07/11/2006 15:44

Hey ELM, great to 'see' you again! Sorry thing's haven't gone smoothly for you, fingers crossed for the next few weeks x
Becks - hope the break goes well for you, and glad the scan went well
Loubie - poor you. I have felt more sick these last few weeks, but not been sick. How horrible. I hope it stops in time to let you get your strength back before the baby arrives.
Shimmer - I used a medela electric too, but I never had a good let down for expressing and despite happily spraying ds in the face when he tried to feed, or totally soaking tops on a regular basis, I could never express more than a couple of ounces. Having said that, it's the sort of thing that you end up needing at stupid o'clock so being prepared is no bad thing!
DH - hope the man flu improves soon.
EPM - fancy coming round to my house? Lots of cleaning opportunities here

MotherBeaker · 07/11/2006 16:03

Good luck with the travel becks - my journey is coming up next week - I think I will be glad of the sit down in the plane more than anything else.

3 more days of work! Oh I am counting the hours, unbelievable amounts to do before the end of Friday though.

Anyone else feeling exceedingly uncomfortable? I am 32+3 now and feel like I can't get comfortable in any position I try. Is this normal? Also does anyone elses bump go a bit numb? It is a really strange feeling. I think my stomach is being squashed a bit too, I feel like I have got morning sickness again.

Enough of the moaning I suppose, almost time to go home - yay!!

theUrbanDryad · 07/11/2006 16:06

heya all...welcome back ELM, good to "see" you again. hope all's well, waters breaking sounds terrifying - is this your first pregnancy? you probably told us already, but i forgot...

love2dance - yes, after sex i have been feeling quite tender, also had a couple of "post-coital" bleeds and mad braxton-hicks afterwards. my miriam stoppard bible assures me this is normal and even good cause it makes your uterus firm up ready for labour. so get shagging you lot, and you'll have easy labours! dr miriam said it, not me....

i've been getting mad pins & needles in my right hand, thought it was because my engagement ring was too tight (thanks to swelling hands) so i took it off, but i'm still getting pins and needles and now my ring finger is bruised as well. and i can't wear my engagement ring either....anyone else getting this? dr miriam says carpal tunnel is normal too....i think the baby read the same book i did and is going down the list of symptoms!

elliepmummy · 07/11/2006 17:01

welocme back elm I'll add you to the list as think I may have missed you whens your due date and do you know if its a boy/girl?

Loubie - poor you hope you are feeling better soon

UD - think your baby is reading that book!

LTH - hope you are feeling better since weekend

becks & motherbeaker - hope your flights are okay

2happy - love to come and clean for you (think i could make quite a profit if i charged )

Baby been mad today think it was all the noise from toddler group this morning and this afternoon we have been watching little mermaid as it came out on dvd yesterday and DD loves all the songs (especially kiss the girl when she keeps coming to me and smothering me in kisses aaaa i do love her ! )

argh! got to have a rant!

anyone remember that shoot me and magnolia did?

well, they STILL haven't paid my expenses! i phoned them on friday, and they said they'd put the money straight into my account and THEY HAVEN'T so i emailed them again today and now they're asking for my address!

apart from the fact that i've given them this information TWICE now, why do they need my address if they're going to put it into my account? i'm so flipping mad! wish i'd never done the stupid shoot! my photos were rubbish and it cost me about thirty quid which it doesn't look likely i'll get back!! ARRRRRGGGGHHHH!

sorry guys....better now.

elliepmummy · 07/11/2006 18:29

and breathe UD!!

OonaghBhuna · 07/11/2006 20:38

I am looking forward to putting my feet up, eating lots of chocs and watching the second episode of lost series three on RTE2........However realized that since there are about 24 episodes I will have to record most of them!!!! Sorry I am sad......

Loubie37 · 07/11/2006 21:08

I am sick of this bloddy insomnia!!!!!!!

UD - sounds a nightmare. Magnolia - have you had a refund yet?
EPM - you may change your mind if you saw the state of the place!
MB - hoping the next 3 days whizz past for you, and anyone else about to start their maternity leave.

I really have to try and get some sleep now. I woke up with bladder, then couldn't get back to sleep as I was worrying about what would happen in January if I go into labour and we're snowed in. FFS!! [forehead slapping emoticon]

LadyTophamHatt · 08/11/2006 06:36

You'll be fine 2happy.....with a vet for a hubby I'm sure he's delivered a few newborns in his time.
Ok, so you're not a pregnant horse but ya'know all these babies come out the same way one way or another

elliepmummy · 08/11/2006 07:24
