If you're due in November 2015, well here's your ante natal club! Come and talk about vomit inducing man-scents, cheese roasties you simply cannot do without/or stand, the picked ice cream you must have right now, and the bubbling desire to tell the world but checking dates to restrain yourself!

Reb I am a nightmare to get blood out of, I got sent to the hospital phlebotomy department in my last pregnancy as the midwife couldn't get any (after trying both arms and wiggling the needle around lots so I got nice big bruises)

TakesTwoToTango · 10/04/2015 13:50

I had the whooping cough vaccine in my last pg. it's offered from about 28 weeks and takes 2 weeks for the antibodies to develop sufficiently to offer protection I think so I decided to wait until 36 weeks to have it on the basis that the baby was pretty much fully developed by then by hopefully that would give long enough for them to be protected before birth. Delivered at 40+1 in the end so it worked out, though obv I was taking a risk he would be premature and not protected.

(waiting outside doctors office for the results of the scan!)

Hi all, new here! Finding the length of the thread overwhelming, but will do my best to catch up!

Just got my scan date this morning ... not until May 11th!! This is worse than the 2ww! I'll be about 13 and a half weeks by then.

cryingbabymess · 10/04/2015 14:03

Thinking of you with my fingers and toes crossed takes two EnvyThanks

SnozzberryPie · 10/04/2015 14:12

How did it go, takes two?

Ps sorry but my phone will not let me type your name as one word!

annatha · 10/04/2015 14:15

Thinking of you TakesTwo!

Jealous of you ladies with scan dates. I got a letter from the hospital this morning and got all excited, but when I opened it its just an invitation to take part in a study for folic acid so they obviously know I'm pregnant then

CoffeeTwo · 10/04/2015 14:21

I'm 7+1 today and we have our private scan on Monday. Symptoms keep coming and going which is confusing. It's going sooooo slowly!

Mamama31 · 10/04/2015 14:25

Upnorth 13 and a half weeks should give you a great scan though, will be worth the wait :)

Coffee hope it all goes well on Monday. I have my 3rd scan on weds and hoping for a HB this time!!!

Takestwo good luck for results! Thinking of you!

nehagarg · 10/04/2015 14:41

Let us know TakesTwo … Thinking of you!

SnozzberryPie · 10/04/2015 14:58

Coffee I think it is normal for symptoms to come and go; mine do anyway. Afternoons are generally worse but it varies from day to day

Poppyninja · 10/04/2015 15:02

Was doing v well, four days of no MS symptoms, but then felt hideous this morning. Ok again now but that could be all the shite I've been eating this afternoon!

Poppyninja · 10/04/2015 15:03

Ps welcome UpNorth74

I must say I've found the private early scan most calming and reassuring, instead of a trigger for further rounds of anxiety. It was wonderful to see literally a little bean and hear it's heart thumping hard at 6 mm at exactly 6 weeks (viability scan). It was in two parts, the second (dating) one is 10 weeks which is tomorrow, hoping to see good results. For me at least it's been money really well spent and I've had a calm first trimester. Of course if you're happy to wait or need to wait till twelve weeks, and have no problems (I had none) then it's absolutely fine to get the twelve week one!

I've just made myself a set of 5 aromatherapy oil blends. I've been doing aromatherapy in bits and bobs over five years now and have studied pregnancy and aromatherapy for months now. Armed with my many books, just Made five delicious blends and labelled the bottles. They look lovely. I've named them - Stretch mark blend, fatigue blend, low mood blend, perineal massage blend and labour blend! Feeling lovely :)

Happy thoughts all around!

Let's throw a horror story into the mix about private scans....my mate is 6 days ahead of me and they decided to get a private scan and got told the sac was empty! Shock This was when she was 7+5!

She went to EPU and they did a scan and saw a baby.....private scans don't always put minds at rest....! Confused

nehagarg · 10/04/2015 15:15

If ever I needed a further reason to not go for a private scan, that's it cryingbabymess … :)

Focus - glad you feel better with a private scan. I would too, for like 10 minutes and then be back to worrying again. I guess it really depends on you as a person. If you think you can take the reassurance and it stops you from worrying for a few weeks, its definitely worth it. I need to stay away from them :)

TakesTwoToTango · 10/04/2015 15:16

Still waiting!

upnorth if you are wanting the nuchal test done and its important to you, I'd try and bring your scan forward. Nuchal test can only be done until 13+6 I think so you'd only have to be a few dates out from your lmp dates or the baby not be cooperative to get the measurements and they wouldn't have time to bring you back in.

mrswishywashy · 10/04/2015 15:21

I had my private scan at seven weeks at fertility clinic and it was included in price of treatment. At my booking in appt with midwife she called hospital and was able to book me in for scan on May 3rd when I'll be 13 weeks, am hoping it's not too late for nuchal scan. Having it on May 3rd means I won't have to take time off work. I'm not sure what are symptoms and what is general tiredness as I'm a maternity nurse and working 24/5 with a one month old baby. On,y getting sleeps in 1.5 hour slots and so can't wait for tonight when I'm off and don't have to wake for anything. The urgent hunger and nausea seems to have gone and I'm so tempted to book in for another scan just to make sure baby is ok. The waiting is tough.

BowiesJumper · 10/04/2015 15:31

Yes I had a scan at the EPU at 6+4 because of spotting/bleeding and was reassured after seeing the blob and heartbeat... for about 2 days, and THEN I wanted to check it hadn't disappeared. And I'm still feeling like that! Ha.

I rang the ultrasound dept earlier because my scan date still isn't through. The lady said, ah yes I have the request here, it just hasn't been allocated yet. You'll get a letter with the appointment at some point next week. I'm 10weeks tomorrow, so I guess that's ok! As long as it's safely within the 11.6-13.6 window I'll be happy. I'll be most annoyed if it's towards the end of the window though, as that could mean I miss the nuchal testing if baby doesn't play ball first time, as TakesTwo mentions.

I had my booking in on Tuesday and she said I'd get a scan soon as I could be. 9 weeks or 7 because of getting pregnant with no period after miscarriage I've not heard anything yet tho but I hope they get on with it cos I also want the nuchal scan as well.

I think the 12 week scan is lovely tho it actually looks like a baby in there! Smile

BowiesJumper · 10/04/2015 16:01

That's surely a good sign Annbag? I think they get in touch fairly quickly if anything is awry with them. Mine just says they will be "discussed before or at your next antenatal visit". Which I guess is the 16wk appointment. It does say, "a health professaional will contact you if you have a positive screening test result for HIV, syphilis or Hep B."

HeirToTheIronThrone · 10/04/2015 16:03

I had bloods done yesterday and they couldn't get any out either - she had to get another midwife to come who managed it eventually, ouch!

My scan is 12 May when I will be 12+6. My friend is about a month ahead of me and she had hers today, she sent me a picture of the baby 'waving' - I was so jealous!

My scan is May 11th as well- don't have much choice because it has to be at special department rather than usual ultrasound. I'll be 13 weeks too.
