Crying , there are very few things you can't eat.

I avoid liver, parma ham and similar things (except for when I decide to eat them), unpasturised cheese and brie type cheese, booze and undercooked mince (eg rare burgers).

Virtually everything else I am likely to eat is fine. Burgers, bacon and the kind of cheese that comes on burgers are absolutely fine.

The best source of info on this is the food standards agency, which gives very sensible, fact based advice. I think they have even now said runny eggs are ok, which is good as I never stopped eating them anyway!!

NotSpartacus · 19/03/2015 11:08

Why can't you have a hot dog?

ninjabeer · 19/03/2015 11:23

notspartacus I just googled it and apparently there is potential for listeriosis in the water so you have to make sure they are really hot as long the way through or avoid them. I would never have guessed that though. Who knew?!

ninjabeer · 19/03/2015 11:24

Urggh read post back before hitting send Ninja #facepalm.

cryingbabymess · 19/03/2015 11:32

So I am being melodramatic worrying about it all then? Grin I'm sorry to annoy you all and moan! I'm just a worrier! Confused

tootsroots · 19/03/2015 11:50

dudes... you know a while back I asked about what to do about being a bridesmaid in late Sept where I will be about 8 months/ well 34 weeks pg. So I did as advised.. told her 'without' telling her that I will need a larger dress and to ask no questions. She winked and said fine.

So now I have the option.. I am a 14 today - roomy but fits fine... so do I get a 16 or 18, and have it fitted nearer the time? It is the Coast Delia dress.

I have NO idea how I will carry, big or small...but I am 5ft 8 tall and not small but mostly bottom heavy. though I am normally a 36b... these are growing... but I can have it tailored to fit me .... its very roomy!

We need to buy it today as stock is low and it is not being restocked hence the pressure.

ninjabeer · 19/03/2015 11:51

Cheese is pretty much okay if it is cooked. I fear I would expire without cheese! I can go without the wine to accompany it but don't take away my cheese! Good news about runny eggs too, this is making me hungry Cake

TwoBeesInTheHive · 19/03/2015 11:56

I really want a hot dog now Envy

cryingbabymess · 19/03/2015 11:57

I dislike eggs so doesn't bother me! Cheese I'm probably the same, I love cheddar with everything but any other cheese I can't stand! Lol.

heloharris · 19/03/2015 12:01

I had a really nice burger on Saturday night with bacon and cheese - it was delicious!

The guidelines on burgers is that because it's mince, you should have it cooked all the way through. With steaks, you cook the outside and kill of the bugs, but with mince apparently the bugs can end up in the burger, well because its mince.

I reckon my burger was pink (the pub was dark) - but I know where the meat comes from and I like the look of the butcher so felt quite safe eating it....!

Accompanied by an orange and lemonade, yawn

heloharris · 19/03/2015 12:03

I'm really pleased about the runny eggs too ninjabeer - I don't think I could go without boiled eggs and soldiers or poached eggs. Yum.

BowiesJumper · 19/03/2015 12:05

toots, What's the skirt like? Is it a-line? I would go for an 18 because it can always be taken in a bit, whereas it's more difficult to make a smaller dress bigger as it were.

tootsroots · 19/03/2015 12:11

bowies its pleated and MASSSIVE billowy skirt.. a pg dream!

heloharris · 19/03/2015 12:16

toots it's a pretty dress. I would also say to go for an 18. Always good to have extra fabric to play with for taking in.

For my wedding dress last year, I went for the dress that fitted my hips and the top half ended up having loads of material taken out. Because I failed to run enough and make my hips smaller, we also had to take out the lining a little so it didn't cling. More fabric definitely the way forward!

Is there an inner lining to the dress that is more straight down than the floaty outside layer?

tootsroots · 19/03/2015 12:25

Hale.. yes there is a lining... it is stretchy.. I think you are right 18 leaves us more scope for removing fabric and stitching it up!

See when it speaks of "cured meats" is that like cold meat like ham or chicken I would put in a homemade sandwich or is it just like chorizo, pepperoni etc. I always have a chicken slice roll for lunch so want to check Hmm

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 19/03/2015 14:08

Cured meat is the Parma ham etc type. Cured stuff is anything hung to dry/cured in salt etc.

Bog standard ham and chicken roll etc has been cooked before being sliced so is ok.

BowiesJumper · 19/03/2015 14:18

Exactly. Raw meat - bad! I'm a vegetarian so I don't have to worry about that! I was wondering if I'd get any meat cravings during pregnancy! Hopefully not!

stace1986 · 19/03/2015 14:25

Toots I have the same problem I am a bridesmaid in august. My friend has been really good about me possibly needing to have alterations etc but she wants to order them fairly soon and i dont know where/how I am going to expand! I am a 14/16 at the moment so no idea what size to buy it in! I am so worried it wont fit by the time august gets here!!

Blueblink · 19/03/2015 15:04

Has anyone got any good "I'm not drinking because...." excuses? some friends have asked DP and I out next Saturday when I should be at 7 weeks. We'd like to go and be socailble but they are very suspicous of me not drinking. Went round their house for dinner whilst TTC and as I drove round his first comment to me was "why are u not drinking are you up the duff?!" (charming!!) Of course I wasn't lying when I said No before! To be fair i'm actually hoping by the time next sat comes around I have some sort of morning sickness in the evening so don't have to go and show my face. I feel like living in a cave for the first 12 weeks would be much easier!!
