Hi all
Debbsy - I know how you feel - I've been feeling sick and getting almost continous pain - I slept for four hours today (I'll never get a thing done now). Haven't felt the urge to clean the cooker at 4 in the morning though! Wasn't sure whether to call midwife as I have a bit of swelling in both hands and feet and feel most peculiar. however my BP was fine last week and I am seeing her tomorrow morning. Had what felt like contraction in Lidl's the other day (bit embarrasing) - went right from back to front and across bump - but it didn't last long and I haven't really had nothing since. As if to prove that it wasn't going anywhere - baby went for a marathon movement session yesterday - started about 6pm and was still going strong about 4 in the morning. Not sure if too much movement is good or bad - baby still very active - but I have one hell of a headache and am so tired I could sleep for England.

Anyhow congrats to those with new babies - good luck to everyone else.

LA

LA, I would get yourself checked out before tomorrow, swelling and headache doesn't sound good, don't want to owrry you, but also don't want to say nothing and then regret it.

Mygirl, it is Sara whose sister is going through it. Fingers crossed these contractions carry on for you this time.

40Weeks · 13/11/2006 17:14

Harrogate Mum, my LO has slowed down in the last few days too - not sure what thats about. Midwife is coming on Weds so will ask then, as I had heard this could be a 'sign' but not sure if its an old wives tale. I am getting movement, just not as much.
Fell asleep this afternoon while DH and Mum were at work - it was lovely. Everyone keeps telling to rest while I can and 'build my strength up' but when I do rest all I get is earache for taking it easy! And I have had the worst chest infection and was still going for a walk every day and getting the washing done and cleaning and stuff, so thought I was doing okay!
Still, I know some of you are having a worse time so I wont complain, but my thoughts are with you!

schmizaj · 13/11/2006 17:35

Congrats for new births, will have to explore the announcements page!!

NJ - Strange co-incidence but I was born on 2 Dec and due date was 11 Nov!!!! My mother was scheduled to be induced that day but I came along that morning anyway after quick labour. Keep getting told that they would never leave it that long nowadays but I was healthy and fine.

Slightly concerned that 'overdueness' can run in families but my older sister appeared on time.......

Anyway think I've chilled out a bit about due dates and possibly going over. Would rather everything in place and naturally ready to roll than willing it on. Text's have started already which is slightly annoying but nice that people are thinking of me. Most from peps back home in NZ who have lost track of time so that is understandable.

I'm really really tired too (from doing nothing!), and getting 'down under and up' pains which I think could be bubster getting lower?? Don't think anything happening soon, but signs that things may be getting ready possibly. But not bothered, honestly, really.......

Good luck to everyone else battling with end of preg ailments and pre labour labours.

Coathanger · 13/11/2006 18:56

Quick gate crash...

Mygirl - Good Luck hun!! Thinking of you and hope it all happens soon mmmmmwah xXx

hi all,

Just to let you know that jasmine was born yesterday at 9.37pm weighing 7lb 10oz after a long and painful labour we are both home and doing ok except lo seems to be fussy bout my boobs!!!!

NatalieJane · 13/11/2006 22:26

YM, Congratulations!!! So glad everything is OK, I was thinking of you, it sounds like a bit of an ordeal, but I am sure your beautiful Jasmine was well worth it - well done!!!
schmizaj, OMG, I was born over 3 weeks late!! LOL I was due at the end of May, but was born 22nd June, my mum was to be induced the following day!! LOL I don't know about it following in families, my mum had five altogether, 2 early, 2 late and one on the due date, so make of that what you will!! LOL
Mygirl, sorry!

I have had 2 and a half hours of really strong contractions tonight, I really did think that it had started, watching Corrie and Eastenders trying my best to concentrate on it, sitting on the birthing ball, and.... nothing! It just all stopped dead. I have a midwives appointment tomorrow, I am almost dreading going TBH, on top of how I feel about having to go anyway, last time I saw the M/W she more or less said she expected me to be in labour by that night, and that was last Wednesday!! But on the other hand, the baby has been very quiet, and hasn't even had his mad half an hour this evening, which I could have set my clocks by before now, so I am looking forward to hearing the heartbeat tomorrow, just to know everything is definitely OK.

awayfromhome · 13/11/2006 22:45

It has been a long time since last posting - various house moves and no broadband for 4 months - absolute torture!

Congratulations to everyone who has had their babies and best wishes to those who are still waiting.

I have had a very problematic pregnancy. My placenta stopped functioning properly and the baby stopped growing at the normal rate at about 20 weeks - all rather stressful.

However, despite all the problems Benjamin was born healthy but tiny (4lbs!) on the 20th October. He hasn't stopped eating since and has put on over 2lbs in the last 2 1/2 weeks, so fingers crossed he will catch up quickly.

NatalieJane · 13/11/2006 23:59

Wow, Awayfromhome!! It all sounds like an experience!! I am glad Benjamin is making good progress

I think I am either starting to go into labour here, or things have at least stepped up a gear - a big one! Have been having the pains I had this evening again, but they are a lot sharper, and I don't feel like I can sit down anymore. I'm not getting my hopes up too much yet incase it all dies off again, but it is certainly putting the wind up me!

If it does turn out to be nothing I am going to beg and plead with the midwife to give me a sweep, or at least check to see if anything is happening down there tomorrow, I've asked on here, and it isn't unheard of them giving a sweep before term...!

Don't assume anything if you don't hear from me for a while, the midwives is early in the morning and if nothing has happened I'm planning another trip around town!

Which reminds me, I checked Saturdays lottery numbers today, and we have matched 4 balls, looked on Teletext and it is £97 for the 4 balls this week

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 07:49

good luck NJ - let us know how you get on!

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 08:02

Still here, I've had about half an hours sleep, feel absolutely exhausted, the pains went all at once about 5.30-ish, by which point I was sat on the birthing ball, having to really breathe and concentrate through the contractions, they were coming every 3 or 4 minutes lasting about a minute and a half, but like I said it all stoppped again. It could have been worse I had decided that at 6 I was going to get DH up and start getting the pool sorted out!

Anyway I am obviously pissed off again this morning, and like I said I am going to beg, plead, shout, scream, stamp my feet and do whatever else it takes to get her to do a sweep today, I know they don't always work, but at least I will then feel like we've done everything we can, and besides, there is no way that last night was just down to this irritable uterus thing, I was convinced it was labour, which to my mind means the labour can't be too far off - can it? Maybe the sweep will be all thats needed just to push me over that edge?

I am still getting a few niggles but nothing like last night, so hopefully the midwife will be able to feel them and think oh sod it, and just get on with it!! LOL

Hope everyone else is doing OK - wish me luck!!

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 08:36

hope it all goes well - I am now convinced I am still going to be sat here in December waiting for this baby to arrive. Maybe if i convince myself of this it will happen all of a sudden - and SOONER!!!

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 08:45

I suppose looking on the bright side, even those that are with me, due right at the end of the month, should all have their LO's in another month absolute maximum!

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 08:47

I know - we are probably mad anyway thinking it would happen sooner - I am not even due until 24th - its just that you get so fed up of being big and uncomfortable dont you!?

DebbsyandBibby · 14/11/2006 08:49

nj oooohh progress im convinced its going to happen for you today.
Away from home congratulations well what a turbulent and worrying time you have had, glad everything has worked out for you.
Youngmum congratulations on your little girl Jasmine (that was one of my fav girls names) such a pretty name.
Right then who's next i say nj will be everything crossed for you hun
Good luck to everyone else x

DebbsyandBibby · 14/11/2006 08:52

i have the Dec feeling to hg.

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 09:06

LOL Debbsy, will you come and tell my LO that please, he doesn't seem to understand!

I think I could handle just feeling big and uncomfortable, and in fact I don't even feel that big anymore, and I am only uncomfortable when I have been sat somewhere for too long really. It is these bloody contractions that are driving me mad, up until the last couple of days I thought it was bad enough having all the pain of them, but them not doing anything, but these last couple of days things have changed, I know they are gearing up to the main event, and I am pleased that I do finally feel like it is coming to something, but I just wish it would hurry up!! LOL I don't think it would even be as bad if they would carry on from now until he is born, but all the stops starts, they just make you feel like you've failed everytime it stops.

Sorry going on again, I only have half an hour before I have to go, so you won't have to put up with me for much longer!! LOL

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 09:07

Sorry, how are you feeling today Debbsy? Why do you think it will be December now?

DebbsyandBibby · 14/11/2006 09:11

Dunno just a feeling ive got dh thinks so too but i am feeling uncomfy again and also the fact that im only 4/5 engaged that isnt alot is it?

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 09:16

I wouldn't worry too much about that, as long as he is headed in the right direction, even first timers don't always fully engage before labour starts.

God, I am shattered, can hardly face up to getting out the door let alone trying to convince her to do this sweep, I just know if she starts to say no I am going to burst into tears, and then will feel like a big bloody drama queen!
