Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

holly I'm sure work will be understanding, you've done well to make it so far!

Right all you ladies who haven't packed your bags bring them to me! I will do it! I have a surreal joy in over packing hospital bags!

Need to leave the house. Need to go to the city ideally. Can't be arsed to get dressed. Not even for the lure of chips. But we can't stay in, DD is climbing the walls. Someone kick me up the arse?

Mine's having a quiet day too so far. I've had a good couple of pokes spread out so I'm not too worried, still got some lower back ache but I'm currently ignoring that as its not too bad just on the edge of my awareness.

DH came home from footy last night limping Hmm apparently he pulled his groin 2 mins in and hobbled around for the rest of the match. Grin Spent most of last night groaning and rolling around in bed moaning that his bum hurt. I just told him to get some pills down him and shut up. I was enjoying the fact that DD didn't wake up once last night and he ruined it by randomly talking to me when I was asleep! I'm such a light sleeper now a days its ridiculous.

He's off out again tonight. Managed to get some free tickets for the Blackpool game so he's taking his brother with him. It'll just be me and DD again, I hope she behaves herself. Don't think I could handle a strop when I'm so tired.

I tried to make an appointment for the mw this morning (Have to go through the doctors) but they had non next week and I refuse to leave it a week as I'll be 37 weeks then! Had to ring the mw answer phone and leave a message. Lets hope they ring me back this time, your supposed to get a call back within 24 hours but they aren't too reliable. I'll have to get in to see them at another location. It's not like appointments take ages, 15 mins tops but I might end up in some scrubby sure start center in a grotty part of town surrounded by people with no teeth! Shock Yes I am a bit of a snob but this town is pretty high up on the poverty table and some places you just don't go to.

mswibble · 17/03/2015 11:35

Think you're right Rozie, Russell and Ewan do different things so I dont think Russell, even though he's sooo cute, would be appropriate really. Oh well, its £30 odd saved!

Bambino is a very lucky boy as one of our friends dropped off one of these on Friday - Ziggy Zebra swing. The tray is missing but apart from that its fab! I think he'll really enjoy swinging around on it, and they're so expensive brand new. Plus this means that I have a bit more dosh to spend on his baby gym, I have my heart set on www.amazon.co.uk/Fisher-Price-K4562-Rainforest-Gym/dp/B000FFL58Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1426592122&sr=1-1 which even at £39.99 is a dear do.

Oh dear, Misty. When is your section booked for? Get yourself a good box set to watch to help with the boredom.

Breast pump - I got the medela. It got a good review on Which website.

mswibble · 17/03/2015 11:40

oh dear misty, it doesn't sound like you're enjoying your rest! Have you not got a stash of books or boxsets to plough through? Definitely dont be feeling bad about just 'sitting around', you may not be able to do that for quite a while soon! I have series two of Nashville waiting on my Sky+ Planner, the most recent Marian Keyes book plus a few baby books reserved at the library which will be collected this weekend. I will still have quite a lot of housey/garden stuff to do once I finish (well, what little I'm capable of as I do struggle now) but I'm definitely looking forward to lie-ins and generally taking it easy!

Lauren82000 · 17/03/2015 11:48

That's a nice gym Mswibble. I think I'm going to need a new one this time as I don't think all the hanging toys are still in the bag with the mat. Blush

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it as it's not a purchase you need to make in the first few weeks. I'm doing the same with the monitor and a breast pump. Amazon very kindly sent us a free Prime voucher through the post even though we have used all the free trials on our existing amazon accounts, so I'll be able to get these things next day if I need them. Grin

Holly nothing wrong with looking after yourself. I'm sure your not the first one to need to change your start date. I mean what happens to the people who pop early? They manage that just fine. I wouldn't let them make you feel guilty as you never know how your going to feel at the end when you hand in your MatB1. I'm surprised at myself that I'm managing to cope, yes I'm tired and barely doing any work (Just taking up space on a chair) but I'm a bit behind you 34+6, I'll be 36+2 when I finish next week.

BananaToast · 17/03/2015 11:51

mswibble I got that baby gym for my birthday and it's awesome - I set it up and wanted to lie and play with it myself Grin

I am feeling everyone's pain with struggling through til mat leave. On the face of things I'm managing ok, getting my (mountains of) work done. But I get home completely exhausted now. Last night I managed to cry twice (nearly three times - changed channel quickly when stupid child-abandoning meerkat advert came on) at stupid things and DH described me as 'a big ball of hormones'. Fairly accurate. But the end is now in sight - only 12 (11.5 really) working days left to get through, and I'm doing one of those from home next week.

Bring on mat leave - I have books to read, TV to watch, and nesting and batch cooking to do. Cannot wait.

RL20 · 17/03/2015 11:52

Holly there's no shame in 'admitting defeat'. Do what you feel is best for you and baby bump! Like the others have said, there's no medal for carrying on at work knowing you just can't anymore.

Misty sorry you're feeling rubbish! Have you spoken to midwives about plug?

The health visitor was talking about my growth scan this afternoon and the possibility that worst case scenario (well, best for baby) would be me being told they've got to induce me ShockShock Why does it still not feel real?! I can't imagine them turning around and saying that Shock Hoping that baby is ok and placenta is still feeding him properly etc, and he can keep cooking!

RL20 · 17/03/2015 11:53

Also WTH, we will be on thread 14 soon, already!!

kismac · 17/03/2015 12:22

Holly, do not feel bad. Doctor signed me off sick so I ended up finishing work 3 weeks earlier than expected. I felt guilty for the first week but now Im on my second week off I could not give a stuff and I feel so much better for stopping work. Pregnancy is really tough and we need to learn to be kinder to ourselves.

IvegotaCaveTroll · 17/03/2015 12:33

Loose women are talking about that bedroom thread!

IvegotaCaveTroll · 17/03/2015 12:38

Yeah Holly don't feel bad- I finished work at 28 weeks :(!

Daholster it's great that you r open about ur IBD!

TinyTear · 17/03/2015 12:39

Mrswibble, that is the gym I had for DD and will be coming out for newbie...it's great and it lasts... Even when DD was too old we kept the mat out to have picnics with the dolls and she still uses the mirror

RL20 · 17/03/2015 12:46

Cavetroll I just seen that too!

Also RE the jungle gym - I also looked at that! I've got my eyes on the fisher price woodsy friends bouncer too Grin

I started feeling all organised and great about packing but now that most of it is done I just can't be bothered to finish it. I'm done with it, if it's not in there now then we aren't taking it.

Maybe it's the build up but I'm just done now, I'd like to go into labour and get it over with. She is still a little early though at 34 + 1 so I suppose she needs to stay in for a three more weeks. Then I'm totally done and will be wishing for her imminent arrival with daily doses of mentally telling her she's done in the hope that my brain might trigger whatever triggers labour haha.

daholster · 17/03/2015 13:34

HV just left. I found myself telling her that I wonder if the consultant will choose to induce me if he doesn't arrive at term? The lacking space for gut issues and baby worries me for another 1-4 weeks let alone 6!!! She asked lots of what felt like prying questions about family support and dh, which I think is totally reasonable. I started getting backache and very uncomfy, but a shift in position has eased it. Every time I get a low pain I start hoping! Ridiculous really, I know there is a lot of this to go before it starts happening!

Though my discharge is thicker and heavier again too so maybe he is starting to make my cervix think... Let's hope!

Mustn't wish it away. Surgery success dependent this may be my last pregnancy so surely I should be enjoying every minute!

Ooh, a nice mild contraction right down the bottom. That cheers me up! Wink

daholster · 17/03/2015 13:37

PS have decided I am going to buy a new crib mattress. For less than £100 I couldn't live with the worry that I had caused any issues, heaven forbid that SIDS struck our household. Dh isn't quite in agreement but didn't say no, so I'm just going to do it.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 17/03/2015 13:38

I have a breast pump anti-recomendation! Do not buy the tommee tippee closer to nature electric pump. It's awful. complete waste of a lot of money!

kismac · 17/03/2015 13:42

Misty, not too long to go. You could phone your midwife and they might consider taking your earlier if it's looking like things are progressing too quickly.

I've taken to having a sofa day and then a busy day and alternating, that way things get done but I don't feel dead on my feet. Cleaning company coming next Wednesday which I am crazy excited about, especially since DH keeps telling me off if I try and clean or move anything.

Sairie, that's exactly how I am feeling. So ready for baby to come. I've got hospital tomorrow where I'll get my blood and heart tests back and kinda want them to say something that might mean we get this show on the road. That sounds awful but Im done now.

35+2

Everythingzrosie · 17/03/2015 14:22

What did loose women have to say about the bedroom thread?

I wanted to get Russell the dog but bit pointless when both babies will be sharing a room come October so can share the ewan music lol

FiRaffe · 17/03/2015 14:32

Holly - finishing early sounds a plan if you need it. I keep thinking about finishing now but only 2 weeks and 2 days to go.

Hope all goes okay with the scan RL!

Siarie · 17/03/2015 14:43

Oh, i've just realised I've been having BH for hours... I should probably start timing them haha.

TheBooMonster · 17/03/2015 14:44

Yup Ewan has womb noises, Russell has a record function, we've bought Russell for DD and have been playing with the record function to put a story on there so he's set up and ready for bump to gift him to DD. I'll take a pic of the two together in a bit for an idea of scale, but either Russell is a very small dog or Ewan is a giant sheep!

We went out, forgot to tell DH who phoned home, didn't get an answer so ran home in a panic thinking I was in labour Blush

Thanks firaffe, leaving for my scan in 15 minutes (it's not until 4.15 but I'm being an eager beaver). Will update afterwards.

Oh dear, Siarie! Time them! Shock

Rosie - they were just saying how disgusting it was in general and saying 'oh the poor mum', but moved on to sharing people's photos of shaming their children's bedrooms etc, and didn't actually talk about mumsnet as a whole. Bit scary that they can just take a screen shot of our conversations and put it out there for the news to discuss! Shock
