Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Squatting - yes what daholster said about immunity. They screened me for it this time around when they took first bloods at booking in and declared me fine - maybe bc I mentioned that I have a 3yo DD who goes to nursery but hasn't had it yet? Mum made me check as she got into a panic and couldn't remember when asked to confirm 100pc that I'd had it in childhood. Good to know you can get a quick antibodies injection if needed though.

DD declared this morning that she wanted to stay in bed forever. I'm like, dude, I feel you. Sadly nursery and a day of relentless batch cooking awaits. No excuse now I've bought all the ingredients.

Morning all!!

YAY bra shopping day has finally arrived!! Sad I hope its not to bad!!

Nunkie Hope you enjoy the Jelly cake!! can't go wrong with a nice cup of weed lol

Penguin My snoring has gotten worse but I have suffered with my sinuses through the whole of my pregnancy so that does not help! It will be nice to breath again one day :) Don't forget your poor lungs and all your other bits are a bit squished amazing what our body can do.
DH looked at a picture the other day of baby and body parts and his comment was wow no wonder you poo all the time now look how squished it all is!! Hmm thanks love

Hope you all had good night sleep I did part from an odd dream involving BIL very odd we stayed at his house as ours was being plastered and I gave birth in front of one of the nephews very strange lol while DH & BIL were at the pub!

We don't do leaving things here, will probably get a card and maybe a small gift but don't expect anything. The other lady who is pregnant goes off 2 weeks before me(ooh that's next Friday) and i've signed her card and put something in a collection, but we've had so many leavers/big birthdays/weddings/babies lately it all seems a lot to ask people!

I do get a baby shower type thing at brownies though next week, which i'm excited about! The girls seem excited that brown owl is having a baby!!!

Lauren82000 · 12/03/2015 08:58

Well I've come to work and fallen into a shit storm. The other girl I work with has phoned in sick so I had to ring my big boss to send someone down to cover. My manager is off and so is someone else so that makes 3 people off in our team and we pretty much run on skeletal staff as it is. I've offered to work an extra hour and half but that still doesn't help with my lunch cover.

DD once again refused to get dressed this morning. I'm at the end of my rope with her. I just don't understand why she won't do it. It's not like we have infinite time in the mornings to get her ready in her own time. Beginning to wonder if I should just shut her out of her bedroom in the morning until she is dressed. I was treated to evil glares while I stood over her for the 10mins it took to put her socks on! It's like having a stroppy teenager in the house not a nearly 4 year old.

StuntNun · 12/03/2015 09:19

Lauren a star chart might help with getting dressed. The key is to not give them too much to do at once so rather than give a star for getting dressed she gets a star for putting her knickers and socks on. Then once she's doing that reliably you can add another item of clothing to the list. I had a lucky dip bag with 50p items in such as stickers, balloons, shiny pencils and every ten stars the kids could get something from the bag. Depending on her development you might need to make it a fewer number of stars before she gets a reward. You can also use free rewards such as playing a game, choosing what's for dinner, deciding what film to watch, whatever will motivate her best. When my kids were dressing myself then we used a timer system to speed them up so if they got dressed in five minutes or less then they got a star and if they beat their time on the previous day they got an extra star.

Wineandchoccy · 12/03/2015 09:20

Penguin I hope the snoring goes once the baby arrives as well and I'm sure my DH would agree.

I'm not having an official leaving do from work because I work remotely and the UK office is 300 miles away but my boss has arranged to see me in a couple of weeks and my colleague is taking me out for lunch in my last week.

I'm preparing today to do my work handover tomorrow and my laptop has decided to do an update and I have stupidly clicked ok instead of remind me later, oh well time to put the kettle on Grin

StuntNun · 12/03/2015 09:20

*dressing themselves
I don't make them get me dressed too!

TheBooMonster · 12/03/2015 09:33

I didn't get a leaving do, didn't even get a card this time round Shock just a letter reminding me to keep in contact with my team but as there's no way of knowing what team I'll be on when I get back that was a bit Hmm

Had awful dreams last night about today's midwife appointment, kept dreaming that she'd found all manner of rare things wrong with me or the baby and they were going to take the baby out and remove my womb!

Have the feeding antenatal class this evening, wasn't going to go but there's some stuff on breastfeeding and I really need to just go out! DH is going to stay here though so he doesn't sit and make sarcastic comments under his breath like last time can feed DD who is still on dinner strike... So I'm going to leave him with instructions for dinner after his complaint about butter beans in the mash last night git, that'll teach him

Something bizarre happened this morning when I was trying to get a urine sample, I peed backwards instead of down Shock someone tell me I'm not the only one?!

RE leaving do's, I didn't have one either. I work for a company in quite a big building with a lot of staff and my job role is working relatively on my own anyway, more interacting with the customers than people I work with. I received a card signed by people which was lovely. I can't expect anything else, staff have been in,out,in hospital sick, maternity leave, and all sorts. If your birthday is on the calendar you do get a birthday card too which is lovely, signed by people. They also do a Christmas Do, so really can't ask for much more than that!

FiRaffe the brown owl thing is lovely Grin

Squatting, my partners ex-sister-in-law's family has come down with the chicken pox too, so looks like it is making it's rounds. She has school-age twins who have caught it and also her 3 month old baby is showing signs of it now!

Have fun bra shopping skyra although I know you were dreading it Grin I didn't end up getting fitted and just bought a cheap t-shirt bra from ASDA yesterday, in a size bigger than what I have been wearing.

Good luck with your scan today Brixton! Wishing you the best hope it all goes ok Thanks
Will catch up later on if you manage to get back on to update us.

Off to pick up the Isofix Base today from Mothercare and get it fitted.
Had a relatively nice lie-in today other than obviously waking up for wee breaks.
Really need to go and start sorting out partners daughters bedroom now. Am going to do it instead of laying in bed watching/listening to Jeremy Kyle, and then regretting it later that I've ignored my nesting instincts Grin

I'm sure by the time I've checked back in later on I will have missed about 300 posts, but will try to catch up! Hope we all have a good day Brew

Lauren82000 · 12/03/2015 09:45

Sounds like a good idea Stun but we've tried reward charts before and they don't work long term she gets bored with them even when you change the amount of stars you need for the reward. Plus DH's memory is too awful to remember to keep up with them so doing it all myself is silly and anyone else who looks after her just gives into her every whim. Every Monday she comes home from MiL's with some sort of cheap crappy toy and I know she has been given loads of sweets and rubbish on a Thursday afternoon when DH's Grandma looks after her. DD once told me she had 5 biscuits and 2 cakes at NeNe's! I wouldn't even eat that much sugar in 3 hours.

ChickenMe · 12/03/2015 10:10

What's on the menu for your batch cooking smogsville? I have a space in my freezer and am looking for inspiration. I already have lasagne, Mac cheese, chilli, cottage pie....
My snoring is awful. It sounds like someone slurping up the dregs of a Mcd's milkshake. Sometimes I just randomly snore whilst relaxing! I also have sneezing fits most mornings.

PenguinPoser · 12/03/2015 10:10

Feel a bit better now as managed to get back to sleep for an hour after DH went to work. Had a listen to baby earlier with doppler as haven't felt much movement overnight, but that can be normal for me, so having some breakfast to try and wake baby up!

Brixton hope your growth scan goes well. And enjoy your leaving do.
Good luck bra shopping skyra remove the stress and just let them fit you into them and buy if comfy! That's what I did. The cups have plenty of growing room but without being to big to wear at the moment too iyswim.

Boo what a nasty dream! Also you're not alone with the strange pee thing Blush admit I find it hard to catch in the bottle!! I think things down there are a little swollen. Try and enjoy your antenatal class later even if it's just as a break from being in the house.

I didn't have a proper leaving do from work either. It's weird as I've only worked there since August and do change locations quite regularly (6 months) so I'm not actually going back there after maternity leave. Although hope to keep in touch as I got on well with them and they might have a permanent job going in the future. They did get me a card and present which I was really touched by as wasn't really expecting anything.

PenguinPoser · 12/03/2015 10:12

And glad it's not just me with the snoring - hope it all goes away ladies we can definitely currently blame the babies! I've had sneezing fits all the way through as well Chicken which is why I was so surprised I managed to stay without a cold until 36w!

BrixtonBunny · 12/03/2015 10:34

Thanks for the well-wishes ladies! So as I thought the growth scan showed that baby is growing fine, and perfectly in line with measurements at 20 week scan. Baby isn't huge but is looking happy and healthy, as I thought baby's head is nice and down. Sonographer was very relaxed so I didn't even need to see a midwife after the scan, she thinks it was just my midwife doing funny measurements yesterday!

Lauren82000 · 12/03/2015 10:39

ChickenMe have you thought about doing a pasta sauce, meatballs or some kind of stew?

TinyTear · 12/03/2015 10:52

Growth scan OK. AC now just under the 95th centile (was higher before) and other measurements 50th....
Now the long wait for the consultant appointments...

For leaving I got a card yesterday and we went to Cafe Rouge for lunch. My boss also said I will receive a John lewis voucher on the post as he didn't have time to do it earlier... I wasn't expecting that so feel chuffed

Good news Brixton and Tiny. I have that wait this afternoon for consultant after scan appt, have steroid inj too so planning on a full afternoon hospital outing!

Misty Flowers for you. Totally agree about the visiting, I think that in a way no one seems to care what we as new mums might be going through physically and emotionally and just want to know when they can get hold of the baby. I am wondering if I would be unreasonable to say no one else gets to cuddle my baby apart from me and DH for the first week! I know realistically that won't happen and I won't stop people but still makes me Angry and Sad. Hope you're ok. Maybe speak to your OH about having some visiting rules?

Great news on the growth scans ladies.

I can't pee in the pot anymore.... have been using a disposable plastic cup for months. ...have to hope for no surprise requests as it just doesn't work!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/03/2015 11:19

Sounds like my ds2 Lauren82000! He was 4 in September and most days I say 'get dressed' in as many ways as I can mange about 50 times. Some days he surprises me and is really quick but I refuse to dress him at his age especially when our mornings are about to get much more hectic! He also often wants to be fed half way through his dinner, I hate resorting to threats but that's the way it has to be most of the time :(

I had strange dreams last night too TheBooMonster, but not really horrible!

Yay for the good news BrixtonBunny and TinyTear!

Grin at all your leaving do talk. As you can imagine, not a lot will be happening here!

No Misty414, baby is not everyone's just yours and your oh's! I think people don't always think about what they are saying and will be considerate of you should she not turn and you need a cs Flowers

TinyTear · 12/03/2015 11:24

Hmm trace of blood and leukocytes in urine... I hope it is related to the fact I have a nasty cough and nothing else...

Lauren82000 · 12/03/2015 11:24

I'm almost hoping for a bit of a hospital stay as visiting hours are short and you know exactly what time they are. So no unexpected visitors on your doorstep! Grin At least me and DH are in complete agreement that DD is the first to meet the baby.

With DD we told people we were going to be induced on x day but never bothered to let anyone know what was going on until I had her 3 days later. They were slightly annoyed about lack of communication but to be honest it's up to us if we want to give a running commentary of a very private experience.

I do understand what you mean though Misty as DH is of the mind set that babies are everyone's property and we can't stop people coming round to visit. I even tried explaining that I don't mind that as long as I get a call or text asking if its a good time. Apparently I'm asking too much and his attitude is basically the front door is wide open to all!Angry
