Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

I've been with 5 when I had ds2 TheBooMonster. The will be 3,4,7,7,8,10 and 10 and they are pretty good. She just looked shell shocked at the idea! My only concern is that if the hospital give the ok she will do a s&s which will mean being behind a curtain and they instantly behave differently when they can't be seen!

Glad someone has experience RL20 as I would have no idea. Mine have both been big by fundal height and im just right this time.

RL20 · 11/03/2015 20:01

Boo thank you yes some good ideas there. Just suddenly feel overwhelmed that there's so much to do, and although I do now have the time, it frustrates me a little bit that I can't do it all on my own, e.g. Packing heavy things away.
Going to mothercare tomorrow with my mum, so at least she will also get a peek of how the Isofix works with the car seat, and have told partner I'm going to have to show him, as he will be at work during the day. So will get him to do some practices with it!
Thankfully I do have everything for baby (I think!) it just needs to all be here, rather than at my mums! Minus the pushchair for now!

Thanks Moomin, I suppose that is true isn't it. In this day and age we just all go a bit overboard with materialistic things, that includes me!
I've decided I am going to ring the midwife number tomorrow and see what they can do. Even if it's moved for the Monday that would be better, as like I've said I have a free day on Monday and will turn myself crazy waiting for Tuesday!

smogsville · 11/03/2015 20:01

Brixton, pistachio magnum??? OMG. I need to get myself back to the supermarket pronto how have I missed this?!

That fatball thread is the best of MN - what it's all about really. Artisan scotch egg! Literally crying with laughter! Thanks for posting Chicken.

RL - Boo is absolutely right especially when it's a first baby. I am keen to get DD's new room sorted but only bc I want her settled in there by time baby's here so she's hopefully less cross about the interloper.

RL20 · 11/03/2015 20:05

Smog yes that's another thing on my list, to sort out my partners daughters bedroom (we don't have a room for baby yet so are hopefully planning to move in a few months time if possible, and her room is the box room so nowhere to manouver her bed for possible room share!). I was meant to, and told my partner, that I was going to start with sorting through her clothes and toys today. I just didn't seem to get round to it Confused

PenguinPoser · 11/03/2015 20:08

There are a few threads on classics that are hilarious but the fat ball one has to be one of the best... "He thought I had left them for snacks"! Grin

Good idea to see if scan can be brought forward RL no point in worrying for longer than absolutely necessary.

smogsville · 11/03/2015 20:31

Oh yes RL I remember about your OH's daughter now sorry I was being thick. Too consumed by fat ball chat.

smogsville · 11/03/2015 20:34

Speaking of classic threads do you all remember the one about the man who washed his willy in a beaker of water kept on his bedside table (or something) after they'd DTD? I think the gist of it was the wife had come onto mumsnet to check that this was standard practice and got a bit of a shock from people's reactions.

mswibble · 11/03/2015 20:38

smog that was the thread which brought me to Mumsnet! It was all over my Facebook so I came for a nosey and been here ever since!

daholster · 11/03/2015 20:48

Hello Smile

Dd is in bed, and I have messy kitchen to tidy! Grandpa has gone home. Dd is at nursery tomorrow morning and granny is collecting her in the afternoon so I have company til dh gets home Grin

Sorry to all who have worries, these midwives babies can cause us some stress can't they?!

The mw ran nearly an hour late but she was lovely and had the midwifery care assistant with her who I saw postnatally with dd and helped me no end with breast feeding and the latch! she was brilliant. Nice to know she is still around! She remembered my dd which was nice and cooed over pictures Smile

Can hear dd chatting... Why...? Hmm... Thought she was asleep... She is not!

Mw was concerned I've lost 2 and a bit kg since Friday but happily gut has been much better today so she agreed watch and wait and another appt next week. If I've dropped as much again I'll be off to CDS for consultant opinion about early induction if I'm still having problems Confused but that seems sensible to me and I guess if the problem continues then getting him out safely before anything completely obstructs and I end up in a vomiting mess of pain and potentially needing emergency surgery with c section sounds like quite a good idea!!! But like I said, better today so hopefully all is dying down.

He has popped back out of being engaged and is free again (maybe why my guts are working?) - she said "he is being a monkey" with back to left and feet to right... Then switched! Right now he's back to left, I know because he is having a fight with my right abdominal wall! His bum is high high under my ribs again and the top of my bump feels like it might pop! It's quite sore! So I knew he had popped out when that bum under ribs appeared again this morning...

Just bought a new Elle TENS machine off eBay. Hope it has everything with it. Description is v thorough about how to use it and how it has pads but no mention of box now I look back... Just says "new"... We will see!

penguin did the steroid help with the nose? They are renowned to be especially painful... But worth the pain for the benefit they give! How many weeks will you be on Saturday? I'm excited for you!!!

PenguinPoser · 11/03/2015 21:07

smogsville I must now go and look for that thread!

Thanks daholster no don't feel any better after the steroids yet but it's only been 6 hours so there's time yet. I've got one of the sterimar sprays now but the right side is still so congested I'm going to give in and have a squirt of sinex at bedtime as both me and DH need some sleep! On Saturday I will be 37+1 Smile just hope baby isn't too stubborn and is agreeable to come then!
Hope your weight steadies out as well you've had a tough time recently though and I'm sure it won't be having any adverse effects on baby.

I think it was cinnamon who asked (sorry if not!) it's 2 separate steroid injections 24 hours apart. It's about 3ml to inject at a time which is actually quite a lot - think like 6 x flu jab in one syringe!

My bump is sooo sore last few days too - it's the skin starting to split I think as I'm starting to get purple wiggly lines low down and just chant really bear anything touching it. Gosh I'm a barrel of laughs at the moment aren't I ..!

Might read some more classic threads to keep spirits up!

BrixtonBunny · 11/03/2015 21:24

Just read the fat ball thread. Tears pouring down my face. Can't stop laughing.

smogsville · 11/03/2015 21:39

Brixton the bit about the dad who made ice cream with goose fat instead of custard and his children complained that it tasted like chicken...

PenguinPoser · 11/03/2015 22:07

Some of those threads had me almost wetting myself! The cat isn't impressed as she is lying on my legs whilst they are shaking! Proper cheered up Smile hope I have internet access for access to such entertainment when in hospital!

Baby is really going crazy this evening - so weird to think that very soon those feet are going to be on the outside! Smile

FiRaffe · 11/03/2015 22:32

Hehe that's a lovely thought Penguin. must be so exciting to know it really isn't long.

Have failed miserably to do anything tonight and we did have pizza for tea....really should be asleep but just can't settle now...argh!

Nunkie · 11/03/2015 22:40

Another Mumsnet Classic that had me in laughter-tears was this one where the woman has a bird trapped in her bedroom :0)
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/a1212830-Blackbird-in-my-bedroom-Get-it-out-Get-it-out

Just did our first NCT class. Was having second thoughts as we'd already done the NHS one but got to say it was well worth it, just because they get you talking and collaborating more. Now to get thru the rest of them without popping since I have left it rather last minute :0)

Now: to the fatball thread!!
And hope you all have a decent nights sleep, everyone.

PS: Brixton.. another double-take and drool at the revelation of a Pistachio Magnum, here!!

Wineandchoccy · 11/03/2015 22:49

Those threads are hilarious I will have to remember the classics section for when I am feeding the baby during the night.

Sorry some if you are having worrying times with small measurements, my 2 SIL were due at the same time and both were sent for growth scans as one was measuring very small and the other very large both babies were born weighing 8lb 3oz. Try and not worry which I know is easier said than done.

I can only encourage you all to go forth (or send forth DHs and DPs) and buy pistachio magnums. Our local Sainsbury's sells them.

Had another weird nights sleep, woke myself up with a little scream - I've had enough of nightmares and vivid dreams now! I've given up on trying to get comfy...

Have scan this morning and then my leaving do for work this evening, I'm currently dreading it as I'm so bloody knackered all the time, but I know I'll enjoy it later on once I'm there! Desperately need to start on handover too, this week has been busier than I'd thought Confused

36+1

BrixtonBunny · 12/03/2015 06:50

Squatting I know it's useless, but try not to worry too much. Can you just mention it at your next appt to put your mind at ease? Sending Brew as it sounds like you need it!

PenguinPoser · 12/03/2015 06:51

Have you had chicken pox yourself Squatting? If not - definitely call your mw or GP for advice. If you have had it before you're very likely to be immune which will protect baby. But if you're concerned definitely worth a phone call.

Please can anyone reassure me that once not pregnany/full of cold anymore I will stop snoring like a rhino? It's really bothering me (well more because it's bothering DH!!) and it's unusual for me as I don't normally snore majorly! I know it's worse with the cold of course but I don't want to go into hospital and risk someone else hearing Blush surely I can't be the only one?

Times cat removed from snuzpod overnight: 1
Not bad going for the first night she's been here with it up.

daholster · 12/03/2015 06:53

squatting it's fine so long as you have had chickenpox yourself baby can't catch it. If you haven't had it you need to ring your GP ASAP for a blood test to check and if no immunity they can give you an injection of antibodies yo protect the baby no worries... So don't panic!

brixton enjoy your leaving do! I'm not getting one Sad We were going to be going out for lunch once upon a time

cinnamongreyhound · 12/03/2015 06:56

If ds had had it ten I'm assuming you have SquattingNeville, which means all will be fine!

BrixtonBunny · 12/03/2015 06:59

Penguin I've been snoring so much since being pregnant. A few times my poor DP has ended up sleeping on the sofa... Ooops. Blush Still, I just blame the baby!

Daholster is there no way you can resurrect your plans? It's so unfair that they've made you feel like this about your last week.

I'm having a joint leaving-do with my friend/ colleague who I currently manage as she's changing jobs and her last day is tomorrow too! Our team is going to be so screwed. But I keep telling myself it's not going to be my problem any more...

FiRaffe · 12/03/2015 07:05

Penguin - could it be pregnancy rhinitis? I am pretty sure I have that and am looking forward to it going along with the drooling when baby arrives!!

Lauren82000 · 12/03/2015 07:12

Brixton my leaving do is a joint one too. Both me and the girl I work with are pregnant (she's a week behind me) so we are going off together. Ours is next week and I just keep thinking to myself. Not my problem, I have noticed I've been kept out of the loop for some things but I'll get over it. 2 weeks on Friday I just won't give a shit what they haven't told me.
