Boo I didn't even think of that! I think my partner has one of those that he has used for fishing! Great idea and will make sure he still has it and it's useable... Just incase! Thanks Grin

Firaffe yes they do, so when I came to have a quick google search, absolutely nothing useful came up! I even read one thread on a website that suggested you make up bottles and store them (which are ok for 24 hours or something) just incase of a powercut! WTH?! I would perhaps only do that in massively stormy weather but even so, a powercut can occur at any time of the year and in any weather, really!

Brummagem - they're also a great idea, thanks!

Good question Firaffe, I did ask my mum at one point when I was actually due but she couldn't really remember, which I'm guessing means I was probably near enough on time give or take a few days? I never asked about my brother but again she hasn't told me any stories that we were really early or really overdue.

My mum is convinced that baby is going to be at least 8 pounds because he is a boy, and my brother was heavier than I was. But I suppose you really can't ever say can you? With that and with labour/birth I suppose it depends on your own health/baby's health which depending on your lifestyle could be completely different to that of your own mum?
I really don't know though and could be entirely wrong so that definitely isn't a scientific answer Grin

Oh skyra the nursery looks lovely! we put our gym ball up and then my sister used it before I'd dare go near it :P

RL20 · 18/02/2015 16:23

Oh and Siarie - we bought ours about 3/4 weeks ago (I think) and to be honest I kept putting it off thinking oh it's going to be a faff getting it all out and set up. But it really wasn't! I enjoyed using it! But it is true what they say (by they I mean on some reviews I read before we bought it), the beep is quite loud! I mean it's only 2 beeps when it's ready so it's not a massive deal but I had saw that people had mentioned it. But them same people still gave it 4/5 stars which says it all, really!

skyra13 · 18/02/2015 16:26

My husband is convinced I will have a 12lb baby lol please dear god I hope not! She was measuring big at my last scan to! Thanks Boo Think I will get DH to sit on it for me after his nap as he is ill, currently using it as a foot rest!!

I think it was called a hint of Violet by dulux not durex as i did ask the women at the till for it lol! She did look at me strangely haha I hope this little one is a girl when she pops out, an not a boy with a tiny pee pee CUs he gonna be stuck In pink and purple if turns out to be a boy :p

smogsville · 18/02/2015 16:46

RL I think you can buy ready made formula in little bottles so if you were minded to be very organised you would get in a stash of those in case of a middle of the night power cut.

This is another reason I am BFing. This eventuality would never occur to me and I'd end up with a v cross hungry baby and poor DH driving all over north London in search of 24 hr supermarket!

FiRaffe · 18/02/2015 16:51

Skyra the nursery looks lovely. I'm sure if it does turn our to be a boy he won't mind!!!

PenguinPoser · 18/02/2015 17:33

RL my friend used the perfect prep machine it was amazing. So easy! When I was looking after her baby at mine it was such a faff to make the bottles with boiling water, mainly because by the time they had cooled I had an angry hungry baby! If I end up using formula would definitely get one.

Skyra your nursery is beautiful! Feels so good to have it sorted doesn't it. I always look in/just go and stand in mine just thinking ah wow this is my babies room!

BananaToast · 18/02/2015 17:39

Lovely nursery skyra. We are sorting ours out this weekend. Got someone coming in to paper one wall, then need to build the cotbed and put up a shelf. Can't wait to see how it all looks.

I've decided this week to try and sell anything we don't need to try and free up some space. There's things we moved with us over 18 months ago that we have never used and have no sentimental value - they're going on Gumtree! I started last night listing a couple of things and already have someone coming to collect a full length mirror - that's £15 to get us started Smile Going to raid the flat when I get home to see what else I can get rid of!

skyra13 · 18/02/2015 17:46

Its lovely to see it all finished!! Everything we got is 2nd hand pretty much so think we did well :)

What a good idea to sell stuff on gumtree to make space I shoved all my stuff in the loft Blush

Lauren82000 · 18/02/2015 17:53

You don't have to heat up the ready made stuff either.

DH has spoken to his dad and brothers tonight to start sorting things out. He then asked of I was going as it's a bit tight in his dad's house to stay over night. I said we could stay in a hotel and ease the burden on his dad but apparently he has already googled it and £150 for 2 nights plus petrol plus the fact he wants a new suit for it. Made me feel rather unwanted. I did ask how he's expecting to get down there as I'll be needing the car for work and it's not like anyone can give me a lift as I drop DD off at nursery then go back 30mins the other way! At that little nugget he just said oh yer you'll need the car and has gone quiet on me. (His squirrels must be working overtime to come up with a work around. That or he's just switched off and playing on the ipad)

So now I feel like I'm not wanted there and if I do go I'm making everything more difficult than it needs to be! Confused Can't win either way!

RL20 · 18/02/2015 18:09

Skyra we've sold quite a few bits recently on gumtree. During January I also sold probably almost half of my clothes on an app similar to eBay. Times were tough (still are, money-wise, but I have no clothes left that I want to sell!) and so with the money I was getting through that, it paid for our food shopping each week with a little bit left over. You just have to be really hard and detach yourself from things that you know your not going to use/wear if your short of money or if you need the space. It's amazing how much stuff we didn't really need!
I tell you what, being skint definitely does make you savvy lol, as you have no other choice!

Penguin yes I love love love it! My mum was really impressed to.

skyra13 · 18/02/2015 18:16

I must admit I have loads of dvd box sets sitting in the lift doing nothing lots of books, could prob get alot of money for all my husbands physics books! Grin

BananaToast · 18/02/2015 18:22

I would probably have stuck things in the loft instead if I had one! But now it's fun seeing how much I can make selling things we have lying around.

mswibble · 18/02/2015 18:35

Aha - here you all are! I cannot believe I have ten pages to catch up on already, such natterers!

Havent read back yet, will do now, hope you're all blooming!

I had my 31wk midwife appt today, unfortunately she found sugar in my urine sample (this is the second time and today I made sure I did the sample as soon as I got up so no marmalade on toast to mess up my reading!). im booked into for another GTT on Friday Sad really hope its a blip and I havent got GD. But already I feel guilty, bambino was measuring bang on the 50th centile upto now, today he's lurched way up to the 80s. No more chocolate hobnobs and nightly Snickers bars for me ...Blush

RL20 · 18/02/2015 18:52

Hi mswibble, I don't think I've spoken to you before! I also had my 31 week midwife appointment today, so we must be due around the same time? (20th). When one junior/trainee midwife did my wee sample I heard her say to the other midwife down thing about protein but then it wasn't mentioned, so I asked instead. She said it's not a concern as it's only a small amount and I have no swelling and my blood pressure hasn't changed much. I've read up on it and apparently I should be drinking more so I'm going to try and make the effort to drink more water.

RL20 · 18/02/2015 18:53

*something

daholster · 18/02/2015 19:10

Have managed to hurt my back. After the non-nap we walked (well, me pushing dd in her trike) to the garden centre and net a friend for coffee and a play in the play area. It was hurting on the way, when I had to leg it after dd who bolted for the big staircase I could hardly walk back! Managed to get home but at times can hardly weight bear on my left leg!!! Confused The pain shooting down it from my back makes it feel like it will give way. Pregnancy is such fun! Not sure how tomorrow at work will go if it isn't better!!! Shock

RL20 · 18/02/2015 19:38

Daholster that sounds painful! Our bodies can cope with a lot but try not to over do it! Keep an eye on your back pains and rest rest rest as much as you can!

mswibble · 18/02/2015 19:56

Hello RL! Im due on the 23rd! Mucho excitement!

Apparently mine was 'full of it'! Confused and thats the first wee of the day after an 8hr sleep, not good. I have noticed that my hands are definitely more sausage like nowadays, but my blood pressure is the same as its always been, 110/60. Due to bambino dancing on my bladder I havent been drinking as much water as I should be so will definitely try and up that. I really hope my veins play ball on Friday, I nearly blacked out at the last GTT as they were scratching around with the needle!

skyra how lovely! The butterflies are FAB! Definitely want to see everyone's nurserys. As brill as Pinterest is for inspiration most of the nurserys featured are very unrealistic for a 'normal' house or family. I like to see 'real' ones! At the mo' outs is v neutral, magnolia walls, new biscuity (bleachable!) carpet and light wood crib, changing table and drawers. Wardrobe, cot and armchair still needed, and move the crib into ours, then all the fun stuff like prints and accessories.

skyra13 · 18/02/2015 20:11

The butterflies were only cheap like 2 pound :) love amazon at times. I to love to see others rooms goggle does seem to give the perfect looking nursery's.
Been feeling under the weather and my midwife and consultant keep arguing over my blood pressure so I got a doctor today to check it 144/82 for me that's average due to white collar syndrome, got them to check my urine to as they keep on at me about pre-eclampsia!! All fine think I feel crappy due to husband being ill Sad

Lauren82000 · 18/02/2015 20:14

You've freaked me out now. I checked my notes after my mw appointment and she's put me on the 90th centile. I thought that was a bit high considering I'm 31 weeks exactly today and I measured 31cm? I don't get all this chart stuff I mean am I going to have a giant baby? Probably not just something else to worry about. Must remember to pick up my iron prescription tomorrow I'm just a bit low (109) but that was 3 weeks ago so probably lower now. (No wonder I'm so tired!)

Still have no idea which way up they are but at least its not transverse. Been getting far more shifting/sliding/stretching movements recently than actual kicks. So maybe there isn't a lot of room in there even if I have 9weeks to go. (One of my mums friends saw me today and was horrified I still had 9 weeks to go as she thought I was big and very low. Shock

The loft has been sorted for now. So I have access to the baby stuff and I found a bin bag of sleep suits that my sister gave me back so I'm not as unprepared as I thought I was. Very knackered now though and my back hurtsConfused least I can start on my hospital bag purchases on Friday. I have Primark and HnM vouchers from Christmas to useSmile

daholster · 18/02/2015 20:41

I feel really unsettled. Just not right at all... Can't put my finger on it... Want to just lie down but just feel really like I want to be up, buzz about, down, feel a little off colour, tired, not nauseous as such but if I went into labour now feel like I'd throw up the whole way through... Unsettled and fidgety is the way I'd put it. I think I felt similar a couple of weeks before I had dd. Just like everything isn't quite... Settled!!!
